This post is dedicated to You-Know-Who.
I have a personal opinion, that mystery is part of
the fear, so I love to use the name you-know-who
or Dark Lord instead of Voldemort. Like Albus
Dumbledore said, fearing the name will only grow
the fear of the person.
I feel the same about the pictures. I think that
child-Riddle with those dark haunted eyes and
teenage-Riddle with that fake-innocent loveliness
is much scarier than reborn Voldemort. I actually
find Voldemort's new face and expressions rather
comical.
Who you think is more effective, Tom Riddle
or Voldemort?
SPOILER!!: sixteen riddles
I don't know you guys, but I can't stop laughing at these.
I love book quotes, and Potter-series have some
truly amazing ones. Most of my favourites were
too long for a tiny icon, but there's a collection of
other most memorable.
When I thought of colour orange in the world of Potter,
first thing that came to my mind was really a haircolour
of a certain wizarding family.
Yeah... I know it should propably be described as ginger or
red, but I stick with my first impression.
Our friends in the series have some interesting pets.
There's a collection of these. By the way... if I could
have a magical pet, I would like to have pygmy puff
and definitely the pink one! Although owl would be
also good choise.
I love this future scene in the movie.
They have cast perfect little actors and actresses
for the next generation children (although adult's
makeups are maybe not so successful).
Choosing favourite chapter from the books is
absolutely impossible challenge! That's why I
decided pick the one who is wonderful in the book
and also beautifully executed in the film. So I choose The Tale of the Three Brothers from the Deathly
Hallows.
If I would have been student myself, I would
have picked Lupin. But unfortunately I'm not, so my favourite DADA professor from reader's
and watcher's perspective is definitely Moody.
I mean look at these expressions. Hilarious. Kind
of scary. And annoying. Oh maybe little childish.
But definitely memorable!
I certainly had to take Harry and Draco for this.
I loved their picking and fighting through the series,
both books and movies. They have some kind of
mystical magnetism together.
I use now one of my three free choice subjects.
I have many times admired how these actors and
actresses have grown from cute and little awkward
children to gorgeous young adults.
So this is my little now and then -survey from
our awesome "big seven".
This subject made me happy just doing it.
I picked cutest and most brightening smiles through
the series. Then I get an idea to play with words and
started to search different synonyms for the words happy, smiling and laughing. Softly bright colours just fitted
in with all the happiness.
After all those smiles it was time to tackle some less
positive subject; darkness.
I collected dim and shadowy pictures with hazy lines and
ominous feeling. These are places I would ran screaming
from. All are not from particularly scary places, but looked
spooky in the murky lighting.
The Forbidden Forest is of course haunty place as well as
the graveyard of Little Hangleton and ruined remains of the quidditc hworld cup. But in addition to them, Hogwarts
can also show us it's scary face and everything isn't nice
about the Leaky Caudron, Grimmauld place or the playground
near Privet drive either.
This had been one of my favourite subjects of this
challenge since the beginning. I love the different
spells, charms, hexes, jinxes, curses and so on...
I was a little stuck with this before I realised I could
use also pics from outside potterverse, such as open
lock for alohomora and explosion for confringo.
And I definitely wanted to include the magic words into
the icons. I like making the letters glow, and it fitted
there perfectly.
In my opinion, black 'n white pictures are beautiful, but
sometimes they need a contrasting colour to bring the
colourlessness up. So I choose to give my b'nw:s some
colour.
The eyes are important thing in the character, and the eye
colour can tell a lot from it's owner. I'm quite irritated that
the eye colours in the movies are almost all wrong. Yes, I
know that they tried to give Dan green contacts and he
became allergic to them, but still I think Harry's eyes need
to be green... and Ron's blue... and Voldemort's red.
So, I decided to give them the exact eye colour I have
imagined them to have. It doesn't show well in these
kind of small pictures, but their eyes are all coloured.
SPOILER!!: thirty-two mirrors to the soul
Harry's eyes are described bright green, and this
fact is said thorought all the books so many times,
that it should be natural.
Ron's eyes are described blue, and I thinks this kind
of really bright blue would fit with his hair the best.
Hermione's eyes are described brown, and I imagine
them to be warm chocolate kind of brown.
We don't know any specifics about Neville's eyes,
but in the movie he's got grey-blue eyes, and I
think those fits him.
Ginny's eyes are described brown, and in my opinion
a darker brown would fit her better, rather than
choclate brown what Hermione has.
Draco's eyes are described grey, and they look just
perfect in the movie, light steely grey with maybe
a little hint of blue.
Luna's eyes are described to be silvery grey, but in
the movie they are blue (and I absolutely adore
Evanna's Luna in the movies). I kind of mixed them
together giving her silvery blue eyes with a little hint
of purple.
Voldemort's eyes are described red, and what could be
more fitting than rich blood red.
I think my patronus would be an owl.
Owl are animals with different sides in them. They are
predators, but can also be irresistible cute. They are
intelligent and fiercely protective.
I had fun time drawing these. Only I had no idea how to
make them look glowing, see-through and ghost-like. I
like the result when I'mn ot comparing them with the movie
ones, which are superb.
