Department of Magical Transportation

Department Floorplan

The Department of Magical Transportation plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe travel of witches and wizards throughout the magical community. This department oversees and regulates various forms of magical transport, including apparition, broom travel, the Floo Network, Portkeys, and magic carpets. Employees of the department are responsible for facilitating magical travel while ensuring compliance with transportation laws and safety standards. In addition, the department works to address transportation-related incidents, coordinate international magical travel, and provide support for the broader wizarding community's transportation needs.

In the British Ministry, the offices which come under the jurisdiction of Magical Transportation are:
  • Administrative Branch
  • Apparition Test Centre
  • Broom Regulatory Control
  • Floo Network Authority
  • Magic Carpet Bureau
  • Portkey Office
  • Wizarding Transit Services
Take a look around, and if you get lost, take a peek at the handy map that is tacked on the wall in the foyer outside the lifts.

Reception and Waiting Area
This vibrant and bustling space serves as the gateway to all matters related to magical transportation within the wizarding world. Visitors are greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable receptionist ready to assist with inquiries, appointments, and ticketing. The area is characterized by its enchanting decor, featuring an array of magical transportation memorabilia, including models of enchanted vehicles and portraits of notable figures in magical transportation history. A large, interactive magical map is prominently displayed, showcasing various magical transport routes and locations.
Office of Almer Toots, Department Head
Accessible from the reception area and also located near the employee work area is the office of Almer Toots. As the silver placard on the door suggests, this is where the Department Head of Magical Transportation can be found if he is not already somewhere within the department or elsewhere in the Ministry. Should you have a meeting scheduled with him or wish to drop by for a casual conversation, a simple knock on the door is all that is needed. If he does not answer, you may wait in one of the cushioned chairs placed outside or come back later in the day when he is available.
Conference Room
This sophisticated and versatile room is designed for high-level discussions, strategy meetings, and briefings related to all aspects of magical travel and transportation. It features a large, oval conference table surrounded by comfortable, ergonomic chairs, ensuring that all participants can engage in discussions with ease. The walls are adorned with transportation charts, historical timelines, and interactive displays that provide real-time updates on transportation networks and developments.
Apparition Classroom
This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to the study and practice of Apparition, the art of magical teleportation. The main classroom is designed with a focus on both instruction and hands-on practice. It features enchanted mirrors and visualization aids to help students and trainees master the nuances of Apparition. The room is spacious, with ample space to practice safely, and is equipped with cushioning charms to ensure a soft landing during practice sessions.
Magical Transport Repository
This repository is the central hub for the management, storage, and monitoring of all magical transport artifacts and systems. The repository is meticulously maintained to support the efficient operation and safety of magical transportation systems. Whether you're maintaining enchanted vehicles, handling Portkeys, or overseeing fireplaces, this facility provides the necessary tools and protections for effective management and oversight.
Work Area
This dynamic and organized space serves as the central workspace for the department's various divisions, ensuring efficient operations and collaboration. Each section is thoughtfully designed with individual cubicles and communal spaces to support focused work and team collaboration. Enchanted communication devices, reference materials, and magical resources are readily available to assist with daily tasks. The work area fosters a productive environment, ensuring that all divisions can efficiently contribute to the smooth operation of magical transportation services.
Employee Break Room
This cosy and inviting space is designed to offer a relaxing retreat for the department's dedicated staff. The employee break room is the perfect place to unwind and rejuvenate. Here employees can take a well-deserved break, recharge, and socialize with colleagues.
