| Level Seven Department of Magical Games and Sports |
02-09-2018, 06:44 PM
| | The Recreational sports division was established to organize and bring recreational sports to the community for young and old. These sports are for the young and young at heart that would like to get together and play the sport if not just for learning, exercise, but for fun as well. As a Games and Sports department the ministry has their hand in many areas and want to give back to the community by bringing these opportunities to them, but they can't work without the many volunteers that step up to be coaches, referees, and even parents that are wanting to give their children the experience. OOC: This is just a reference for your knowledge of what we have canon here on level seven. This way you can know if there is something for your character's children or even your character. We might RP things once in awhile, but many things even if not RP'd happen every single year. If you see a sport missing please PM Charely Potter.

Recreational Quidditch has two parts in the ministry: Quidditch Camp:
Quidditch camp is an exciting annual summer event held in July, where professional Quidditch players gather for a week to mentor and train the younger generation. Designed for children and teenagers aged 5 to 17, the camp caters to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. Participants engage in a variety of activities aimed at enhancing their Quidditch abilities, while the older attendees have the unique opportunity to play in matches and interact with professional players, scouts, and managers. These interactions provide valuable insights and guidance for those aspiring to further their Quidditch careers, making the camp both an educational and inspiring experience. Quidditch Leagues:Children can join leagues starting the year they turn eight. This means that if a child is seven during the summer but will turn eight by the end of the year, they can still participate. For example, a child born in 2009 who turns eight in 2017 can join the league that year, even if they are still seven during the summer. This rule ensures that all children of the same birth year can play together, promoting fairness and inclusion.
Teams** will be separated by years: - U-9 beginner (8 and 9-year-old birth years)
- U-11 (10-11-year-old birth years)
- U-14 (12-14-year-old birth years)
- U-17 (14-17-year-old birth years)***
- Adult
*Broom sports leagues and competitions won't start until a child is 8 due to safety and liability. Quidditch camp for 5-7 year-olds is focused on learning to fly safely.
**The number of teams is determined by the number of children that register to play and the amount of coaching volunteers that season.
***Students that tryout and make the formal U17 league will not participate in the recreational U17 leagues. These leagues are set up for fun, recreational, and learning experiences.

Players aim to get the Quod into the pot at the end of the pitch before it explodes. If successful, the team scores a point and a new Quod is brought into play. If the Quod explodes while a player is holding it, that player must leave the field. The pot contains a solution to prevent the Quod from exploding once it is safely inside.
Children can join Quodpot leagues starting the year they turn eight. This means that if a child is seven during the summer but will turn eight by the end of the year, they are eligible to participate. This policy ensures that all children of the same birth year can play together, promoting fairness and inclusion.

Winged horse sports* have a few categories in the ministry: Winged Horse Lesson: Any wizard or witch who needs riding lessons but doesn't know where to find them, they can contact/visit the Recreational Department. They keep lists of licensed stables that offer lessons, making it easy to start searching for the right place to learn. Whether you're a beginner or want to improve your skills, the Recreational Department can help you find a good riding instructor.
Winged Horse Showing: In the summer, Wizards who enjoy horse shows can register starting from the year they turn six years old. Each age group follows a specific rubric and participates in three horse shows throughout the summer. These shows usually take place at Wizarding fairs within the community, providing a fun and competitive environment for young wizards to showcase their horses' skills.
Age groups:6-10
11-13
14-17
Adults
Winged Horse Racing: Children cannot begin horse racing until they are 15 years old. If their birthday is after July 1st, then they must wait the following year to enter. For student-age racers, the races occur on weekends during the summer months, while for adults, the racing season extends from April to October. This recreational competition excludes professional racers, providing a safe and enjoyable opportunity for young and amateur riders to participate in horse racing events.
Age groups for races***:15-17
Adults *Horses must be in great health and well taken care of.
**Races will be held at the professional racing stadiums.
***Racers must have plenty of experience on horses.

| astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Muggle Sports and Activities
There is only one section of muggle sports in the ministry.
The Ministry of Magic's Muggle Sports section was reinstated after being dissolved during the Neo-Alliance rule. With more witches and wizards living among muggles, it helps them get involved in muggle sports like youth leagues run by wizards. This division within the ministry is great for all ages, especially squibs who want to try out muggle sports. There are also recreational leagues for everyone from kids to adults in the wizarding world, giving magical folks a chance to play muggle sports. These leagues offer a fun and supportive way for wizards to improve their skills, compete in friendly matches, and enjoy the social side of sports.
Additionally, the Department of Magical Games and Sports hosts activities beyond magical games, like exercise classes, social dancing lessons, and info sessions. Ministry employees and their families can join in. This holistic approach not only enriches the lives of magical folk but also strengthens ties with their muggle counterparts, contributing to a more harmonious coexistence in the modern wizarding world
