In a very large area, you will find many cubicles filled with busy workers from the Quidditch, Gobstone, and Recreational Sports Divisions. These three divisions work in the same workspace but in different sections of the room. On one side you will find everything Professional Quidditch related, from public relations to regulations and administration workers doing their jobs no matter what season it is. On the other side, you will find everything Professional Gobstones related, their administration is always hard at work. If you keep moving back in the extra long office room you will find another set of cubicles, these are filled with the recreational sports division. If you are needing anything from U-17 leagues, horse racing, youth leagues, wizard's chess, recreational leagues, or summer camps or muggle sports, this is your place.
Not sure who you need to speak to? Stop by the secretary's desk near the stairwell and lifts, and he'll point you in the right direction.

Nate walked in with some coffee in his hand while walking over to his quidditch space. He needed to get some of the information about quidditch tryouts for the U17 squads figured out. Even though that wouldn't happen until spring he knew that if he didn't get a head start on it now he would never make it back to actually getting it done. Sigh. Life of the PR guy, right?

Peggy had some quick questions for the recreational sports team, so she headed over there from her office, clipboard in hand. They weren't urgent questions, so when she spotted Nathaniel, she paused, smiling.
"Good morning, how's everything going today?" she asked. As much as she'd preferred to be left alone in the morning, she knew these sort of informal check-ins were important for morale and productivity.

The voice coming over toward him was a bit of a surprise. On a typical day he swore he didn't see anyone for the first few hours that he was here. That was probably because it was easier to handle anything that was a crisis early in the morning while most people slept... right?
Turning with a small smile on his face, bringing his coffee up for a sip. Ah sweet nectar. "Morning Peggy. Well, trying to get all of the press lined up for U17 tryouts, you know have the plan ready to go early. Not to be rude, but are you normally here this early?" He would have seen her around more often if she was right?

"U17 tryouts, that's great you're on top of that." Peggy smiled. If it wasn't so early, she'd have laughed at his question of whether she was normally there by this time. "I am, actually," she said, tilting her head toward her office. "Normally I focus on paperwork in the mornings, so I don't get out of the office as much."
She paused, wanting to get back to the U17 tryouts topic. "Is everything going smoothly so far with the press? I know we had a big turnout last summer, after it being canceled the year before." And if he needed any help...resources, whatever, that was her job.
As staff comes in to the office they might notice a stunning green and purple carpet laying over a desk. Was it brought in for decoration or a new sport coming to the department?
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Lucas Hawthorne was full of energy (a high possibility was due to the cup of coffee in his hand, half of which had already been consumed) and ready to face today’s challenges. Let the World Cup throw all of its issues at him. This Division Head was going to solve the issues in no time. With the help of his more than capable staff, of course.
“Good morning, good morning,’’ Lucas greeted, waving around his coffee cup with enthusiasm. A little of the liquid escaped the lid to slosh onto the green and purple carpet. Hang on. Green and purple carpet?
GREAT SCOTT!
Had the department scheduled some redecorating and he had somehow inadvertently missed it?
After a brief stop in her office for a fresh cup of coffee, Peggy made her way through the work area, looking for any of her staff that dealt with their youth sport leagues. The Quidditch World cup was overshadowing the important work her other divisions handled, and she wanted to be sure everyone had enough resources, especially with the new youth Gobstones league.
It didn't take her long to spot Lucas. "Good morning, Lucas," she greeted him, eyes landing on the green and purple carpet on the desk. "What have you got there?"
The carpet didn't seem to really care if the people were coming around or not it was getting bored. Bored of just sitting so it started to slowly move down off the desk.

“Peggy.” Lucas greeted the boss lady with a cheerful smile. Could she see how energetic he was today too? Of course she could. He doubted there was anyone who would be oblivious to it. “I haven’t got anything,’’ he replied, turning solemn for some reason. “Are we redecorating? I mean… unless someone ordered this for their personal use?” Like redecorating their own home.
Er.
“Whoops. It’s slipping,” Lucas said mildly as though he and Peggy were discussing today’s weather. The man set down his coffee cup and reached with both hands in an attempt to grab the carpet before it could hit the floor.

Nathaniel came into the office from the workout room where he had just finished his usual morning routine of a workout. He noticed that Lucas was saying something about slipping carpet. Wait why was the carpet on a desk? He was so very confused. Now was not the time for redecorating.
Turning to look at the carpet he pointed and shook his head, "Certainly not mine. Seems a bit odd of a place to rest a carpet right?" Or was it a rug, he couldn't be sure from this angle.
Rosemary had had some things to take care of out of the office, but having finished those up as quickly as she could - it had been time to head back to her desk to get caught up on some paperwork and looking at a few more things she'd been preparing regarding the upcoming Quidditch world cup. She had managed to stop and get herself some caffeine to get through it all, and that put her at entering again right behind Patrick.
Hearing the talk of a carper, the woman poked her head out from behind her colleague to eye the thing, her nose wrinkling briefly in distaste before she remembered this could be someone's idea of pretty and it was probably best to not insult. And it was.. slipping? "Perhaps the floor is a better spot for it?"
Well... it was a carpet, was it not?

More people had come as the carpet began to fall, but when the man tried to touch it the carpet zipped away and moved to another desk to rest it's beautiful fabric.
Rosemary watched as Lucas reached out to stop the carpet from slipping any farther onto the ground, but as he did so... well, it seemed like she must have missed something because as he did so it was suddenly somewhere entirely different. And she couldn't even see a wand in anyone's hand, so someone was either really good at wandless magic or... well maybe there was a draft? Down here. In level seven.
She turned to glance behind her to double check for anyone else, before turning back to the others. "Did that... Did anyone?" Did they have a magic carpet on their hands or something??? "Am I crazy or did that just move on it's own?"

Lucas could not agree more with Nathaniel. Well, we’ve eliminated one potential owner.” He turned his head questioningly to Rosemary as she too appeared. Her words confirmed in Lucas’ mind that it didn’t belong to her either. “That’s four of us to whom it belongs to then.” The Division Manager was about to suggest to Rosemary that the carpet perhaps had been rested against the desk for a reason when…
GOOD, GREAT MERLIN.
“You’re definitely not crazy.” Lucas narrowed his eyes which were fixated on the carpet. “Maybe it escaped from another department? Perhaps MLE had been doing tests on it? Perhaps another department like IMC? It could be one of those regular flying carpets…”
So, uh. What now, since the carpet didn’t want to be touched?
The carpet was stretched out over the desk but could sense the humans around. Did they want a ride? The carpet lifted again and went towards Rosemary and sat on the floor next to her feet as if it was waiting for her to get on.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
The more Lucas kept his eyes on the carpet to observe its behaviour, the more convinced he became that the carpet had escaped from DIMC. Maybe he ought to contact Brody… maybe he would do that right after Rosemary went for a ride.
“Have fun, Rosemary,’’ Lucas remarked, his voice heavy with amusement. Actually, the amusement went away a second later. On his face was now a frown. “Not sure you should get on that though. It could possibly have a curse or something on it.” Anyone working long enough at the Ministry knew well enough to be skeptical or practically anything.
While she had not really imagined herself crazy, it was still a relief to hear Lucas confirm that the carpet had moved. And instead of the shock she'd been feeling, instead there was a growing excitement. Flying was one of her true passions, and while she'd usually confined the how she accomplished that to brooms... magic carpets had always caused curiosity for her. She'd wondered what riding one would feel like, so naturally the excitement to even study one more was very apparent.
...... and her face especially lite up when the carpet approached her and settled by her feet. It almost seemed like an invitation to her.
One that she probably shouldn't take, as Lucas was wisely pointing out. But the inner kid had already gotten the better of her as she took the step onto it before Lucas had even spoken. At his words, she did glance back at him with an almost oops expression. But well... how much harm could potentially come from it?

Nathaniel glanced at Rosemary getting ready to step on the rug. Wait was that a flying carpet? He hadn't ever seen one in person. So now he was curious. Was it in fact cursed or was it actually something someone forgot to tell the department about? Because that seemed to be the case a lot more in the ministry than it was before... At least that's how its felt with all the strange happenings. Huh He was just about to say something but she was already standing on the carpet. Well we'd find out soon wouldn't we?
They most certainly were not redecorating. Not on this level, at least. And with the appearance of several more of her employees, Peggy's confusion about the carpet grew and grew until it decided to move itself to another desk.
That certainly cleared things up.
And then Rosemary was stepping onto the carpet, the clearly flying carpet whose origin they didn't know. Peggy definitely agreed with Lucas that it was not a good idea. "Nathaniel, why don't you run up to Transportation and fetch someone to handle this carpet? Lucas and I stay here with Rosemary," she said. Unless Lucas wanted to run upstairs instead. But, regardless of what this carpet did with Rosemary standing on it, it didn't belong in Games and Sports. Though magic carpet racing might be an interesting event...
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Lucas was actually looking forward to some entertainment should the carpet be harmless and simply take Rosemary around the office on a ride. Still, he was apprehensive as he nodded to Peggy and Nathaniel to indicate that he would indeed be staying in the Department. What did Lucas expect from the carpet?
Once the carpet felt the weight of the rider it started to vibrate with excitement. Moving up into the air it started to fly around the room smoothly being a good little carpet at the moment.
She was very aware she'd made a probably terrible decision in trusting in an unknown magical object in their office. But... yolo? Did she love that she was showing her bosses a fairly not intelligent and safety conscious version of herself? Not particularly no. BUT they did work in the department of magical games and sports and in her mind, that meant they should all be able to have a little fun when the opportunity presented itself.
And this rug had clearly presented itself.
She was rather expecting it to zip around uncontrollably as well once she'd settled, but once her weight was on it... the carpet actually lifted into the air and was being rather well behaved as it sailed around the room. The woman couldn't help the small laugh that burst out of her. "So far so good?" She called out to her colleagues, relaxing a bit more on the magical object.

Well, clearly she had jinxed herself. Because once she'd called down about the ride being so far so good, the carpet had apparently decided it had had enough of offering the joy ride. But instead of just lowering to the ground like she would have expected, it unceremoniously dumped her onto her bum, which caused a soft yelp from the woman. "Well, it WAS so far so good." She muttered glumly, watching it fly away.
Eyes turned to the rest of her colleagues. "Should we follow it to try to help transportation pin it down?" Or.. at least have an idea on where to tell them it could be found.
