| | Conference Room Conference Room The level four conference room is a rather large space with adequate seating and elbow room to accommodate for all staff on level four as need arises. While the room itself is quite minimalistic (orderly and free of clutter), there is a large window along the wall to let in some artificial light and a few potted plants occupy the room's otherwise-empty corners. Need a quill? Forgot your notebook? Looking for an extra ink-pot? First of all, shame on you. We're all adults here. But not to worry, your department head has thought of everything. Supplies can be found in the cabinets that line the very back of the room, the coffee machine is here too--you'll want to remember this bit, most meetings are held early in the morning.
Be sure to take diligent notes, oh, and always remember to check the noticeboard to keep tabs on any upcoming meetings! Wouldn't want to miss one and lose your chance at that new promotion (especially if it comes with a fat paycheck).

Tabatha Krauss Janus Galloglass | 2106 Level Four joint meeting! books and cleverness | i like you a latte When she heard about the gravity-resistant tree situation the previous year, Izzy was just an outsider, thinking that crazy things were happening in the Ministry of Magic as usual. Never did she imagine that she would be the one wrapping up the case as the new department head. Forrest, her predecessor and old coworker, did a great job taking care of the damage and followup paperwork before he left, hence all repairs were complete before the new year. What had remained unknown was why the tree grew so unnaturally fast and caused such destruction. This morning, she received a report that seemed to provide an answer. Since it had been a large incident concerning the entire level, she thought everyone deserved to know what exactly happened, which was why she spoke with her buddy department head Aurora and arranged this joint meeting.
Getting a latte from the coffee machine, Izzy noticed that she had not brought any writing supplies, so she headed to the back of the spacious room to take a quill, ink pot and spare parchment. She had always been rather forgetful, but preparing for this meeting made her even less attentive to other things. The former Gryffindor hummed a cheerful tune as she slid back to her seat and waited for everyone on Level Four to arrive.

| Jedi Master•General Iroh•Java Junkie• King ♛ Stefan •Mycroft Holmes•Dragon Lord•Druid Boy Mordred was just about to get himself a cup of coffee from his desk, when a memo-plane landed on his desk. He'd eyed the other memo-planes that made its way in their office and quietly watched it land smoothly onto his colleague's table. Ah. It was a summon, wasn't it? Everyone in their department got one, apparently. Eyeing Aurora's office door, Mordred guessed that it wasn't from his boss. She would've waltzed out of her room, and tell everyone to gather for a meeting if it was her. The head dragonologist picked up the memo, unfolded it, and there it said that they were due for a joint meeting with DERP. Mordred's eyes shifted from the memo, then to Noah's owl, telling him (and Sophie) about Hogwart's beautification project, the Board of Governors, and the mysterious vine that had been creeping up inside the castle. The latest update he got from his eldest was about the school's greenhouse getting locked because of a certain plant that apparently glowed, and it seemed to him it produced a certain type of gas. Mordred was lowkey thankful that Noah no longer took Herbology and have no reason to be in the area of danger, but he was equally worried about his youngest daughter Scarlett, who, was into Herbology. Seeing that he'd be surrounded by plant experts, he might as well raise this concern with whoever was in charge of DERP. After the war, he could no longer stay out of his children's business, no matter how mild the situation might be.
Tucking both memo and Noah's letters in between his journal, Mordred gathered all of his writing implements, and headed for the shared conference room of Level Four. Inside, he found DERP's department head already there, looking rather cheerful. "Hello," Deciding not to comment on her happy disposition, Mordred stepped inside the room, and wasted no time claiming a seat nearest the exit door. Meetings were usually tedious and boring, and he would want to be the first one out once it was over. Clearing his throat, the dragonologist sat back in his seat, crossed his arms, and closed his eyes as he waited for the others to arrive.

| Swedishfish Girl! Madame Librarian! Jess's Soul Sister! Sweetest Swede! Usually it was more Aurora's style to go out into the offices and tell everyone to gather for a conference room meeting in the flesh. Today though she was co-hosting it with her department buddy Isabel so she had to do it more like Izzy wanted which was via personal memos. With her notepad and quick quotes quill stuck under one arm and a big mug steaming hot fruity tea in the other hand Aurora waltzed slowly into the conference room for the talk about the gravity tree and chickens. With a quick glance around she noted that Izzy as well as Modred had already arrived. "Hello Ms Marshall! Is everything set for the meeting?" Aurora greeted her colleague with a bright smile and wave as she made her way over to the table. She stopped briefly by Mordred side."Hello Mr Mordaunt, have you had a chance to look over the documents about recommended baby dragon care i put on your desk?" Then Aurora went over to claim her seat at the head of the table. Sitting down, she set up her notepad and took a grateful sip of her favourite tea while she waited for more employees to arrive.

He was trying to make a good impression considering that he had just been promoted.
After accidentally submitting the half of his application instead of the finished one he was terrified that he would never actually get promoted or be noticed. It meant a lot that his brand new boss noticed that.
Taking a deep breath as he stood outside of the joint conference room he tried to calm his nerves down. He could do this. It was just a welcome newbie here's what's going on kind of meeting he had been a part of this many many times before. Seriously could he be more nervous. One more deep breath and he stepped through the doorway. He nodded at those around him and gave a greeting to Izzy "Hello." short sweet and polite.... right?

"Yes, but I have yet to finish reviewing the whole thing before discussing it with the rest of the Beast Division." he paused as he uncrossed his arms and sat straighter this time, following Aurora with his eyes as she got herself a seat. "I would like to have their opinions as well before I submit a recommendation to you." Hopefully Aurora would take the hint that he was subtly asking for a bit of extension. Gathering his own group could be as tricky as rehabilitating a juvenile dragon. Considering all of their field work on top of the steady stream of paperwork, their timetables varied greatly, and it would require him to schedule days ahead before he could get them together for a division meeting. Darej got a nod in acknowledgement as he arrived, and then watched a very young employee (Patrick) came through the door, looking rather awkward. He was either a new hire or he was hiding something important from his boss. Whichever the case, Mordred gave the kid a good look before turning to his journal, scribbling the date and time on a fresh page.

Tabatha Krauss Janus Galloglass | books and cleverness | i like you a latte Being in the large conference room tended to intimidate Carson. For one thing, he never knew where to sit. He was too young to sit with the department and division heads, but as Aurora's assistant he also thought he ought to sit somewhere close to her in case she needed him to run an errand. "Hello," the 20-year-old greeted everyone politely as he stepped into the room. After a quick glance around, he decided upon a seat halfway down the table, and prepared himself for the meeting. Which basically just meant that he laid out his writing supplies to take notes ... what was this conference about, again? "Hello, hi ... good afternoon. Yes, I believe so, Aurora," Isabel returned each of her coworkers' greetings, and nodded in response to the Creatures department head's question. Her own organisational skills were not the best, but her Remembrall was clear the last time she checked, so she hoped that everything was indeed set for this meeting. She gave a warm smile to Patrick, the newly promoted environmental ranger, when she noticed that he looked rather nervous. Really, there was nothing to worry about. She might as well get the meeting started and take the burden off these busy people's shoulders. "Thank you for coming, everyone. I don't think this meeting will take very long, so please bear with us for a short while. The first item on the agenda is about the gravity-resistant tree that caused serious damage to our level last year. It was not immediately clear why the tree grew so unnaturally fast, so our research team worked hard to investigate the cause. There were several possible explanations, and we are pleased to announce that we arrived at a reliable conclusion this morning." Drumroll, please? "The fundamental reason was that the temperature in our greenhouses was ... too ideal for the tree's growth. When it hit a critical stage in its development, the tree's gravity-resisting ability became extremely amplified. We didn't see that coming, because the species rarely grows to reach the critical stage here in the UK." "So that was my little announcement. I thought all employees on Level Four had the right to know what happened, hence this meeting. Aurora and I were also hoping to take this opportunity to discuss some issues related to this incident." Izzy looked at her colleague, wondering if she wanted to begin the discussion. OOC: Sorry I forgot to mention this, but this RP takes place in IC March, so it would not be the first day back at work. :)

Ah, Mordred was on top of things, he had a plan of action which was all Aurora wanted to hear. She expected him to give her a solid recommendation on how baby dragons best should be handled. There were so many tips and handbooks, they needed to put out a ministry directive before something really bad happened. Nodding to Mordred she inclined her head slightly as she replied. "All right. You can get an extension to friday next week but no later. I want it to be made a priority since baby dragons deserve to be handled with the right care and love as any creature." Aurora also saw and acknowledged another employee walk in with a nod in his direction when Patrick came over and took a seat at the table. Quote:

Izzy looked at her colleague, wondering if she wanted to begin the discussion. Aurora flashed Carson a bright and warm smile when her assistant came in with his note-taking materials for the meeting and took a seat near her. "Carson," she greeted. "How did it go with the big tortoise that had gotten stuck in the Minister's fireplace?" Please tell her that the tortoise was uninjured and now back where it belonged with its owner?
----------------
Aurora gave her clock a quick glance when Isabel stood up as if on signal stood up and got the meeting away. Time was off the essence. The gravity tree and not to mention fire chickens buiseness needed to be wrapped up. When her colleague had given her summary of the state of things and the repairs it was her time to take up the stick.
Raising from her seat Aurora said with a quick smile over at her department head buddy before adressing all the gatherd employees from both level 4 departments. "Thank you Ms Marshall for that excellent update on the state of the events. We have summed you all here to try and analyze what happened and to take necessary steps to make sure that no gravity tree can cause this serious damage again or chickens for that matter." Aurora paused here to look down at her meeting notes. "So what we wonder is if anyone has any thoughts on what we could have done from the start when the former department head Forrest had planted the gravity seeds. Should we just have let the tree grow rapidly like we did or should we have monitered it more closely? Taken more measures? Should we have done our own analysis on the seeds before planting them?" Next she directed to her own employees since they worked more in the holding rooms. "Have you got any thoughts on what we can do to prevent that creatures can escape from our holding rooms like the fire chickens did before the holidays?" Quieting down, Aurora retook her seat as a signal that the floor was open for free discussion. OOC: Feel free to have your employees answer as many or few of the questions Aurora poised as you like. Have fun with it.

| Jedi Master•General Iroh•Java Junkie• King ♛ Stefan •Mycroft Holmes•Dragon Lord•Druid Boy "As you wish," Mordred, pleased with the extension, gave Aurora a tight-lipped half-smile her way as he jotted down the new deadline date. He understood that it could no longer be extended further, as the recommendation would still need a few polishing here and there before the final draft. He knew about the importance of ministry documents, as they were basically the think-tank for most of the dragon reserves in the UK, and he wouldn't allow it to be sub-par.
Finally, the meetings has started. Mordred placed his pen back down as he sat back and paid attention to Isabel's report, while his mind conjured images of the antigravity tree that he never got the chance to see. The fire breathing chickens though. Ah yes, Mr. Morgenstern briefed him on the matter before he said adieu to the Ministry for good. Again, although it wasn't specifically dragon related, the blasted fire chickens were under the beast classification, which fell under his jurisdiction as Beast Division Head. Mordred took a pause as he collected his thoughts, quickly giving Darej a side-eye, as this too would involve Mr. Morgenstern's former colleagues. "I understand that one of the purposes of our Holding Room is to temporarily keep creatures that were seized from illegal breeders. Seized, since creating creatures like fire chickens violate the law on experimental breeding." he said shifting in his seat, turning his head slightly towards Darej who was sat nearest him. "I'm not entirely sure how Enforcement deals with confiscated creatures, but I think we can all agree that we may house banned creatures for a short period of time before either depositing them to a specific menagerie that are more equipped to handle them, or...execute them if they are deemed too dangerous."

Darej gave each new person dropping in a curt nod in acknowledgment. The meeting was about to get started when Aurora asked him something.. Head to her office after the meeting? Hmm, "Of course," Darej answered. He wasn't sure what would warrant him to head to Aurora's office after the meeting. Perhaps he would be tasked with a new objective or something... serious? It was a private matter, after all. He attempted to put the thought out of his mind so he could remain focused on the current meeting at hand.
Darej wasn't sure how else to input the greenhouse situation. He had experience with Herbology in general, but not to the extent of being an expert in any given situation regarding them. To him, the most he could think of was just a more closer monitoring of the tree while being experimented on. He listened intently to others that vocalized their thoughts on the matter.
As for the infamous fire chickens, it reminded him of another previous matter. Nodding, "Depending on the seriousness of the matter with illegal creatures, they are held within our captivity before a decision can be ruled on their status since the main focus is upholding the law by any means." Mordred summed it up nicely, before he added on to the matter. "..It appears through an investigation that the wall where the creatures were housed was penetrated allowing them an exit point." How to solve this... "Considering the number of protection charms the holding cells in the room are already under... There will need to be a more preventative measure from the outside breaking in." How many protection charms could be added without an unknown source of magical force disrupting it with ease? He had some ideas, but perhaps others had better ones to contribute. |

Tabatha Krauss Janus Galloglass | books and cleverness | i like you a latte Carson gave Aurora a tight-lipped smile at her question about his most recent and most curious errand. He had no idea how the large tortoise got stuck in the Minister's fireplace in the first place. He had such a hard time getting it out that he wondered if the tortoise just ... liked hanging out there in the fireplace. Really, he didn't know whether to be annoyed or amused. "It's unstuck and uninjured, Ms Bagnold. I couldn't find its owner, so I gave it some food and a temporary home in the holding room for now," he reported.
The holding room seemed to be precisely the topic for discussion in this meeting. Or at least, based on what he heard Ms Bagnold say, as he had zoned out during the DERP head's speech. Carson began to take notes quickly, including the cause of the tree's growth (something about temperature), the discussion questions and his coworkers' insightful responses. He felt that he had nothing else useful to contribute, but Darej's mention of preventative measure reminded him of an idea he had been pondering. "Adding to what Darej said, I was wondering if the current security measures placed in our holding room are only intended to stop humans outside our department from entering. If so, we would need other measures to stop gravity-resistant ... trees ... and other non-humans from crashing through the walls too." It seemed that her environmental employees were being rather shy this afternoon. Nevertheless, it was clear that they had to analyse seeds before planting them, monitor the plants' growth closely, and overall be more careful in the greenhouses. Isabel was certain that everyone in her department understood this. She was confident in their abilities, but if she found anyone to be straggling, she would speak with them individually. "Thank you for sharing your thoughts, everyone. Botanists," were they here? ”if you wish to plant a gravity-resistant tree again in our greenhouses for research in the future, that is not out of the question, but I expect you to go over the plan with me fully before acquiring the seeds." "Does anybody have any question, or another item to discuss while we are all here?"

| The meeting is ajourned... Swedishfish Girl! Madame Librarian! Jess's Soul Sister! Sweetest Swede! Aurora knew that Mordred wanted even more time, but it wasn't just her that wanted to see the new recommendations for baby dragon care, many higher officials were interested too. She checked her in her meeting box for Darej on her notepad, flashing him a small nod before her focus turned to Carson and his report with a small smile. "Good work Carson, check in with enforcement later and see if they have a report for a missing tortoise. If not then you'll need to contact the magical menagerie in DA to see if they can take in the tortoise." They had after all not an infinite amount of space in the holding rooms to house creatures. All creatures needed to be relocated or excuted if it came to that within 7 days.
Isabel's botanists were very shy today and didn't say much to add to the dicussion like her employees did. Their focus of course was more on the holding room than on the tree which was understandable. Taking in the three of them's thoughts Aurora said. "Mordred, Darej and Carson you three all bring up thought worthy points about the holding room's defensive charms thats need to be looked over and be reinforced in the near future. I'll send out a memo about that next week." Maybe she should set a group of newbies on it?
Glancing over at her fellow department head Aurora shook her head. "I don't have anymore points to discuss Ms Marshall, but it worries me that creatures that are kept in the pet's and plants cafe have started to go missing. In total it's two kneazles, one crup and one ferret that aren't accounted for and I know for a fact that they haven't been adopted." Letting her gaze wander around the room Aurora said on behalf of both her and Isabel "Thank you all for coming, the meeting is ajourned! Please return to your duties and have a good work day!" As for the missing pets well she'd see if she needed to one of the enforcement employees on it within a day or so if she got no satisfactory news.
