Default Time Chamber

Perhaps one of the most attractive chambers in the whole of Mysteries is the Time Chamber. Long and rectangular, the room is resplendent with crystal and a myriad of clocks from different eras fill the crystal pedestals that run the length of the room. The walls too, where there is not a door, there is a wall clock hung upon them. The ticking is audible, noticeable and not in sync with one another in the assortment of grandfathers, cuckoos, ships, and mantels. Also out of step along with the ticking are the times upon each clock face, which all seem to read any time but the present. It may be easy to lose track of time, but that is almost part of the job description for the Unspeakables working here. In fact, it may be useful to think of it as not an arrival to a where, but an arrival to a when.

Much brighter than most of the other rooms in the Mysteries Department, the Time Chamber is lit brilliantly not only from all the glowing crystal adornments, but also from a towering bell jar made also out of crystal located at the end of the room near to a door that may or may not lead to The Hall of Prophecy. The bell jar itself contains a tiny egg that resembles a jewel which when the glitter-like sandy substance inside carries it from the bottom of the bell jar to the top hatches and shows the stages of a hummingbird's life span on constant reverse and repeat. Not far off from the bell jar are bookcases, a cabinet of hourglasses which seem to predict not the end of an hour, but the end of any particular occurrence and a glass cabinet filled with new and repaired (but occasionally malfunctioning) time-turners.

Along with the Space Chamber and Hall of Prophecies, this chamber forms the Unspeakable Triangle of Knowledge.
