Charles Hollingberry EraAll historical records pertaining to Ministry of Magic RPG under Minister for Magic, Charles Hollingberry [IC March 2097 - present; OOC November 2018 - present]
When you walk into the offices of level five you may notice a very open atmosphere. Cubicles are set up for employees to have their own space and privacy, but the open middle leaves room for some sofa's and chairs perfect for team collaborating or smaller division meetings. If you are coming for a meeting or just to drop by a certain desk you will find the names of the divisions on plates at the start of each cubical area.w Watch out though level five is very busy and you will see memos and owls zooming by.
As you come in one morning you might notice a new item sitting on a desk. Just a cute little plant with some little flowers starting to bloom. Where this new plant came from might not even cross your mind. It could have been a coworker that brought it in or a special delivery, but either way it is very pretty to look at and isn't in the way of anyone, though it might need some water and some attention.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
With a disgusting cup of coffee in her hands and a newspaper she had bought at the station in the other, Victoria was reading the front page while she walked towards her working space. She had some extra paper work to do that she just could not do at home. Her youngest brother, Yoongi, had been whining about how he had not gotten a job at the ministry yet because he had been too late to submit his applications. The woman scoffed and shook her head as she thought of the memory. Anyway, her brother had distracted her from her work and so she had decided to get to work a little bit earlier to get it done.
She took a sip of the coffee as she entered the working area and made a face. "Blegh, disgusting" she muttered to herself as she eyed the cup and drank the last bit before dumping it in the trash can nearby. After doing this, something out of the ordinary caught her attention. A flower...well more like a plant with some flowers on it was on one of the desks.
The division head frowned. She had never seen this plant before....or maybe she just never paid attention to it. She felt sheepish as she thought about how unobserving she would be if this plant had been here all along and she had never noticed it before...
The little plant sat nicely as people had passed all day, until someone seemed to be paying it attention. The little flowers opened just a little more trying to welcome the person towards it. A little shiver of excitement went through it's leaves, did she notice?
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Victoria was about to turn around and walk to her desk and begin her paperwork when she realised that the flowers on the plant were opening up a bit. They were pretty, she had to admit that much.
Herbology had never been one of her strongest subjects while she was at Hogwarts but even she knew that plants needed water. She placed the newspaper on the desk closest to her right and took out her wand.
As she stepped closer to the plant, she pointed her wand at the soil in the pot and waved it, nonverbally casting an Aguamenti charm.
Ooooh water! As the water came from the wand the little plant's leaves moved around in excitement, growing out as the pretty flowers expanded a little more.
Breezing into the office with a wide grin on her face, Harper made a beeline for her office, slipping off her coat and draping it over the back of her chair - it was summer, but the British air still had a chill to it, so the light layer was required. She was about to sit down and get started on her in-tray when a movement caught her eye, and so she turned to see the other woman present.
She felt a little guilty about not noticing her first, having been lost in her thoughts, and so grinned widely. "Morning, Victoria," she began, before noticing the plant her coworker was watering. "Beautiful plant - was it a gift?"

”Charles,” Conley walked into the department’s work spaces with a roll of parchment under his arm and one dangling from his hands. ”Charles?” he asked. He tore his eyes away from the parchment looking around the room. Where was everyone? ”Anyone seen Charles?” he asked loudly. Maybe someone was tucked away in a back cube or the file room.
It figured that he wasn’t going to be able to find his ambassador wrangler when he needed him. ”Or Violetta?” That was the trainee’s name right? Two years in the department and Conley was still having problems with names.

Rani had been early to work today because she felt she had to make a necessary coffee run for herself from her favourite café before heading over to work. There was no better feeling than having your favourite takeout coffee to kickstart one's day. It made things simply better, in the brunette's opinion. Love her some caffeine.
The foreign relations division head was going through folders of delegations that were set to visit Britain in a few months from now. She also had a few invitations to get started with and send as soon as possible. Frankly, Rani was in complete work mode once she was seated in her cubicle. And she only looked up from her coffee when she heard her department head's... concern. "Good morning, sir," Rani greeted. "I haven't seen them today yet. Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Ah, Rani," Conley started rolling up the parchment in his hands. As head of foreign relation, she would know how to handle his request(s). "I need all of our ambassadors contacted and a meeting arranged to discuss the ministry's futre plans." He pulled one of the rolls of parchment out from under his arm, handed it over to her and replaced it with the one he had just rolled up. "The Minister has requested to attend, so please have Dmitry coordinate with his offices on the date and times. Charles and Violetta should be able to send out the correspondence." If she could find them.
"I believe the Adult Classroom should suffice." He paused in thought. Yes, the room should be big enough to accomodate all of the people he expected to be there. "And please make sure there are refreshments." They really didn't have anyone that could take care of that for them did they? Perhaps, Conley thought, he should look into asking for a receptionist or a personal assistant? Merlin knew, it'd be nice to have someone help with the mail around here.

OH.
Oh.
Well, perhaps Rani should have expected that. She took the roll of parchment from her department head and glanced quickly at her work cubicle. Right, she'd deal with her pile of work later. "Ambassadors... noted, sir," the brunette replied. She had a list of ambassadors somewhere in her drawers, which she would find later on. "Any other details that might be necessary, sir? Or food restrictions?" Perhaps she would need the important ones in case any of the ambassadors came asking for questions. Better to be prepared than not at all if she were to be the contact person, yes?
And wherever in Merlin's beard were Charles and Violetta? Rani didn't have any of their schedules. They were probably on break. Who knows?
Anyway... "Would that be all, sir?" Rani asked, jotting down a couple reminders on a sticky note. Paper work, search for the ambassadors-at-large, refreshments. Looked like she had a lot more to accomplish today, but no worries. It was all a matter of time management and a proper mind set.

Hmm…he had the feeling he had caught her off-guard. But Rani was a strong women. She’d get past it if he had…right?
He wasn’t sure about food restrictions, but it was a very good question. One Charles should be able to answer. ”Check with Charles about any dietry restrcitions. And if you can’t find him…” he paused in thought, changing his mind. ”No, just keep it simple. Coffee, tea, and an assortment of sweets. Biscuits and the like.“ Yes, when in doubt, his wife had taught him to keep things simple.
”No, that’s all,” he gave he a smile. ”Thank you for your help. If you need me I have a 2 o’clock in the court room. Please, feel free to summon me out of there.” He was of course joking, but not complete. He’d love to get out of his court summons. He was going to need to grab a coffee on his way down to make it through as it was.

Surprised, yes, but work was work. This, too, shall pass.
"Got it, sir. I'll look for him before making arrangements with refreshments," Rani said, adding yet another little reminder on her sticky note for today's tasks. Except... perhaps, nevermind since Conley had changed his mind. Err... right. Rani promptly scratched that out. Keep it simple instead. Not a problem. There were surely some gluten-free alternatives for those refreshments, yes? Just in case some of the ambassadors chose to live that kind of lifestyle.
With that done, the brunette offered a smile in return. "No worries, sir." And... summons. Right. Rani nodded a little at that, not entirely sure whether her department head was joking or not. Perhaps some people didn't fancy court room settings, and that would include Rani herself.
Anyway, she did have work to do.

It was an exciting time to work at the ministry, Bennett thought. It was lucky he decided to start when he did. This was exactly the type of work he'd been studying for. He flipped through some documentation on his desk. The quidditch cup was sure keeping him busy.

All the preparations for the international event had caused Conley to be busy. He had barely been in the office in the last couple of months, instead traveling from country to country, potential stadium locations, and meetings meetings meetings! Conley was so sick of meetings, and frankly his feelings showed on his face.
”Morning Bennet,” Conley said wearily as he walked in unbuttoning his traveling cloak. He felt a little bad about not having been around to help his new employee’s transitions. He decided that he could spare a moment or two to check in with the fellow ”How have things been going? Are you getting along well?”

Bennett grinned in greeting. "Good morning." he replied. He nodded at the next question.
"I've been getting on quite well actually." he confirmed. "I'm excited for the summer." Which was an understatement. It felt like everything he'd spent his university years prepping for.
"How are you today?"

Conley assumed that by summer, Bennet meant the World Cup. ”I think everyone around is excited about summer,” he said with a smile. He slung his traveling cloak over his arm. ”I’m alright,” he lied, hoping he didn’t look exhausted. ”But could use a spot of tea.” and breakfast.
”Have we received any new visa applications?” Conley asked trying not to sound too business-like. But he had a lot to do today. ”Or any other Ambassador requests that I need to look over before they are approved?”

Bennett looked the bossman over before nodding slowly. He wasn't going to bring up how tired the man looked.
Luckily, work was the topic of conversation again.
He shook his head. "No. Seems the more interesting people submitted to beat the crowd." Good thinking, you ahead-of-the-crowd thinkers, you. "It's all fairly standard now."

”Excellent.” Conley said giving the man a big smile. ”Makes your job easier in the long run and their trips run more smoothly on theirs.” Either his current international staff were all very good at being proactive or his home staff were excellent at their jobs. Either way, both options were good. Anything that would make his own job easier.
Conley glanced in direction of his officer and noticed someone standing there. Great. No breakfast for him. Or…
”Bennet,” he began slowly hating himself for asking already. But his stomach was aching a little and he hadn’t eaten since 9am the day before. All shame for the request was being overshadowed by the need for food. ”If you’re not busy, could you possibly run down to the food court and get me tea and a muffin?” He gestured in the direction of his office. One of these days he would get that personal assistant/receptionist job filled and he wouldn’t have to feel guilty about asking his other staff members to do tasks that weren’t there job. ”I have a feeling this young lady is going to take up a bit of my time.” Digging in his pocket he pulled out a few galleons and handed them over. ”Get yourself something for the trouble.” Hopefully ‘I buy, you fly’ offer at least lessened any offense that might be presented by the request.

Bennett nodded. "Yeah. Smooth is better." he agreed. That's the way these were supposed to work. In fact, didn't mean he wasn't doing his job well if there were issues?
He stared at the money. Come again? He was an employee, not some sort of food delivery person or an assistant. But... he couldn't really say that so soon... could he?
"Uhh..." he said slowly taking the money. "Sure. I guess I can do that."

As expected, Bennett did not appreciate being asked to run and get him food. "I do appreciate it," he said with a sheepish grin. "I have a feeling it's going to a long day and it might be the only food I get." He motioned towards the young lady waiting by his office.
He still had to go through the applications for the replacement for the Belgium ambassador. It seemed like every time he tried to carve out time for it, something else came up and sucked up the time.
Mai walked through the door with a box of her belongings. She was excited for her first day was decidedly not going to have a bad day. Finding her desk in the area with the other Foreign Relations Officers she began to unpack her box. Little nick backs and pictures from her travels and her favorite pen.
It didn't take very long and Mai took a seat and tried very hard not to twiddle her thumbs, not sure what her first task in her new job should be.

With all the looming STUFF going on in the Wizarding World, Jessica had found there was nEVER a dull or down day at Level Five. Being a publicist had been quite hectic, but it was NOTHING compared to this kind of hectic. Major legal issues could result...relations could be TORN if things were not done in a timely, polite, and appropriate manner.
Jessica loved it.
She had her daily cup of coffee in her hand as she dropped her bag under her desk and glanced around to see if anyone had arrived yet. They sure were busy, and much to her glee they were currently working cloooosely with the Mysteries. More of a reason to go bother David Truebridge. But was there actual reason for HER to be down there? Hmmm.

Adam was overdue for renewing his work Visa. He’d received the information a few weeks ago, but hadn’t had the chance to stop by Level 5 in order to get it fixed. In fact, now that he had a personal life outside of the ministry, he tried to spend as little of his time here as possible. Still, the paperwork needed to be completed or else he might have to return to Germany.
So here he was, on level 5 to hoping this process wouldn’t take too long because he had a potion brewing down in Mysteries. ”Entschuldigen Sie,“ (Excuse me) He said in German to the first person he found, because surely someone on this floor should know the language right? Or perhaps there were translation charms? Eh, maybe he should switch back to English. “I need to extend mein vork FISA.” He hoped the need for help was implied in his tone.
