What Harry Potter spin-offs would you like to see?

Even after the conclusion of the eighth and final Harry Potter film, the magic of the wizarding world has continued. We have seen the Fantastic Beasts spin-off films and are now anticipating the new Max series adaptation of the books. In the past and still to this day, fans have wished for other spin-offs that would expand the magical world we hold near and dear to our hearts. The following are just a few spin-off ideas that have come up across the fandom over the years:
  • Founders
  • Tom Riddle/Voldemort origins
  • Maruaders
  • First Wizarding War/Order of the Phoenix origins
  • Aurors (think a magical Law and Order or CSI)
What are your thoughts on these potential spin-off ideas? What other spin-offs would like to see come to fruition one day? Which format would be the best format for those spin-offs?

I would love to see a founders movie or tv show, I think it would be amazing! I would also love to see a Weasley spin off, before they all met Harry!

A founders spin-off movie would be great, not so sure about tv show though. Not because it would be bad. I just don't like 6-8 episodes per season model for shows. I would also love a Marauders sitcom where we see them growing up. That way, things like Peter's betrayal would be even more impactful.

I would love a Founders movie! Though we do know a bit of their origin and life, more details would be wonderful! However, given that I'm a HUGE fan of crime/forensic dramas, it would be super exciting to have a show focused on Aurors and cases that they have to work on

I've been on board for a spin-off about the Founders. Though I personally would love to see it as a TV series because there is quite a bit that could be covered. It would certainly allow more room to explore their individual backgrounds, how they came together and built the school, showcase what it was like at the school in the early years, and also include other moments we are familiar with (disputes about who should be allowed at the school, the creation of the Chamber of Secrets, the whole Helena and Baron thing, etc).

A Law and Order or CSI type of show that follows Auror cases would be neat to see as well. I've seen great pitches for a series that has Harry in charge, but I would absolutely love to see the focus shift to a character like Moody. I can see a Moody-focused show being pretty action-packed with some interesting themes. Even a Tonks-centric show set in her early Auror days could be a nice balance of action and comedy.

Something I've been mulling over lately is Newt Scamander. Yes, we had the Fantastic Beast movies, but those weren't entirely focused on Newt and the story wound up being what it is. I'd love to see a series that focuses solely on Newt rescuing magical creatures around the globe and educating people about them—definitely giving off those Steve Irwin vibes. It'd be a great way to see different parts of the wizarding world while also learning about all of the magical creatures.

I'd also love to see movies or shows that highlight some of the other characters mentioned in the books that we know very little about, such as Herpo the Foul, Wendelin the Weird, and Uric the Oddball.

Petunia and Lily. Petunia's "I lost a sister" suggests a lot going on in that backstory.

I'd love to see Voldermort origins, Those chapters on HBP where we saw glimpse of Voldy's past were really awesome. Also, I'd love to see The first Wizarding war against Voldemort.

Oh, this would be fascinating, especially if from Petunia's point of view! "The Prince's Tale" in Deathly Hallows did give us a little glimpse into Petunia and Lily's childhood (from Snape's perspective). It certainly would be interesting to see more of their sibling dynamic and how their relationship changed before and after Lily discovered she was a witch. I could see this being effective as a mini-series that highlights moments over the years of Petunia's life.

I would be interested to see more of Tom Riddle during his years at Hogwarts. In a way, it could give off vibes similar to Coriolanus Snow from The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It would be interesting to see Tom use his cunning to impress and gain the favour of others, face his conflict with his heritage/ancestry, discover the Chamber of Secrets, and eventually transform into Lord Voldemort beyond what we see in the books/films.

I'd love the Sebastian and Ominis questline in Hogwarts Legacy as a film but with more expansion on their backstories, particularly Ominis' with official confirmation that he's Marvolo's brother.

Azkaban and Illvermorny origins would also be fascinating and I'm so on board with the Evans, Mauraders and Voldemort origins as well.

I recommend The Spellbook Chronicals on Youtube for the next best thing. He does theatrical documentaries of all sorts of HP lore and character origins and he's super well studied and thorough as possible.
