Hogwarts Legacy Ok y'all - today's the day. Early release of Hogwarts Legacy, the new open world game set in the HP universe comes out on some consoles TODAY and I've already heard a few of our members chatting about how they're playing it! This will serve as the official discussion thread for the game. How are you liking it so far? What glitches have you run in to? Is it everything you thought it would be and more? Or are there some aspects that aren't living up to your expectations? Please use SPOILER tags where appropriate in regards to anything regarding the storyline, and as always please be respectful and follow all SS Forum Rules. |
I haven't acquired the game yet, since it'll be out in 2 days for PS5 and I bought it off an ebay listing. But I have watched a couple streams yesterday. Have to say, wow. I had played the PS1 and PS2 versions of Harry Potter games up to Goblet of Fire. What those games impressed me with was the evolution on how the world opened up. I'll always remember how impressed I was at 12 years old seeing how far they expanded Hogwarts from SS to CoS, let alone the ps2 versions and Prisoner of Azakaban. Now this was another level. There's not too many character creations in games that go as in-depth especially for POC characters. Probably the best example of a good one that I can think of that wasn't an MMO was Soul Calibur. I was impressed with the variety of the hairstyles and how much detail they went with the afro-styled locs, braids, ponytails, etc. My plan is to create and play as an ancestor to one of my OC families (either Madigan, Feirgrund, or Forsfelle, I'm leaning with) and not only do I feel relieved to see that I could make their character but if I wanted to place myself in the game I don't have to settle with a different looking version of myself anymore with the range of skintones and hairstyles. :loved: I know Quidditch is the one factor that is the missing factor. I really enjoyed playing the Quidditch in the earlier original games, especially Quidditch World Cup (despite how broken and easy that game was). So not being able to play a 19th century adaptation of Quidditch was a disappointment but they at least kept flying. I'll likely edit with more thoughts as soon as I get the game. |
I installed the game today on my PS5 and I'm SO excited to try it out! I really hope it is the open-world game similar to how expansive The Witcher 3 was!! I'll keep you guys posted in here as I play on. Needless to say I named my character Louisa Carter :loved: |
Hey y'all! It's been a while. :) Got the game a couple of days back and have been playing it on my PC since. To be honest I wasn't as hyped as the others about the game (or games in general, bc I think I'm getting old lmao), but I was proven wrong. Even if I'm running it in the lowest settings (and tweaking the graphics card settings as well), the game IS stunning. I have to say it brought back good RP memories from here, and this made my charries come alive again even for just a bit. Even had my main character named after one of the Mordaunt's ancestors. On a sub-level, the plot of the game would explain the Mordaunt's affinity (and obsession) with duelling magic and the dark arts. But I wouldn't go and claim this ancestor as the "chosen one" with the ancient magic thing.. rather, I'd place this Mordaunt ancestor as the MC's partner in crime. Okay, got a bit side-tracked there, but I really like how the game has worthy side quests to up the character's XP.. I also like the Merlin's Trials bit because I need more room for my gear and beasts. Haha! What I'm not a fan of is the flying. (This is such a Mordaunt trait, btw, except for one Noah.) Tried flying the first time in PC and.. let's just say, RIP fingers. It's really been ages since the last time I played a game hardcore. So, I whipped out my old PS4 controller, dusted it, and hooked it up on my PC so I could get more control in the maneuvering bit. Got past the first upgrade.. so let's see if I can outdo this Slytherin girl in the 2nd race. As for the bug.. I have no idea if it's my potato PC, but sometimes the robe of my character will get clipped, like, half flapping while running, and the second bug I got is the remaining tendril of magic after casting Levioso or Accio. Comments.. hmm, I would love to be able to toggle the time more precisely. Like an option to fast forward it to Morning, Late Morning, Afternoon, Late Afternoon, Evening, Late Evening, Midnight, Dawn. Also, I would love to have my character be able to sit down on one of the many chairs, sofas, or benches in game while waiting for a quest to start.. and not just have them be sitting on the floor. I find this funny and weird. Haha! Anyway, will update this post as I go along. Off to the third trial! :O |
oh my gosh its amazing! i havent done much but as i have been far too busy but i adore how the graphics look! i am flabbergasted by its buetiful it looks and will never get over the fact. also the common rooms!! i have been sorted into slytherin and its under the lake, i love how its open world aswell, i spent about 20 minutes exploring Hogmeade and found a bunch of secrets and needed scrolls! it was amazing how much thought was put into this game. so far i havent had much bugs, or really any, as i got it way after it came out, so alot were fixed, all in all, its a great game, and to those who havent got it, i highly suggest you get it <333 |
Stefan, I have gotten and seen those bugs as well. Especially the clothing flapping through their legs and giving a glitch that almost pays homage to the broken spider-looking people when you had bad CC in the sims 2-3. I like how they established the scenery and found the game visually stunning. I just really didn't enjoy the acromantulas and all of the spiders really. This is more me having an arachnophobia thing than an issue with the game overall. I also agree that it would be nice to have more control over the time-skipping aspect. It does help scratch an itch for visually stunning games as I know I will probably have to wait three or more years until the newest Elder Scrolls game comes out. |
This game has been breathtaking and I'm nearly at 100% completion in my Hufflepuff run of it. I've got a Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin all ready to go as well They aren't based strictly off any of my own SSRPG characters but there is some heavy inspiration None share similar names but could be considered ancestors. :moose: Now I'm just sort of bouncing around the map getting any missed Merlin Trials and Ancient Magic Hotspots. Even though the Merlin Trials are different variations of 9 kinds of puzzles they are set up differently to make you think on your feet on how to solve them. The worst glitch of the game has been the one that doesn't count an Accio Page for your Field Guide. The game considers it counted but you still show only 33/34 collected in the Bell Tower Wing. It's not game breaking just annoying. It's yet to be patched I don't think. Not since their first patch in early March. The most fun glitch also involves the Bell Tower Wing. Leaving from the West Wing sometimes the Floor to the Steps right outside don't load up right away so I fall through the Earth. At one point I managed to mount my broom and flew out of the glitch though I couldn't save or load and had to reset the game. But it was really fun to fly through the bottom of the map back into it. |
