It's the 1700s, and pirates are foraging and plundering more heavily than ever. Witch-hunting is also steadily becoming a huge threat to wizards and witches all over the world, so what are the hunted ones to do but to join forces with their equally-hunted criminal brothers? This role play is about when wizards and witches begin joining the pirate crews of the day in order to evade capture. The pirates, who are oblivious to the magicality of their shipmates, are at constant war with each other, each wanting what the other doesn't have. There are four major ships in the same general area that all face troubles which, they believe, can only be solved by stealing from or taking control of another's ship. The following is the criteria for an application to join:

Tristram marched back and forth below decks counting the ammunition. They had enough in their arsenal to stand their ground against any enemy ships that tried anything. They had enough powder for each of the cannons. The barrels of oil took up the majority of the space below deck. They probably had millions of pounds worth of the stuff.
Stopping next to a pile of crates he picked up a dusty bottle of rum and took a swig.
He had managed to find his way on to the Black Knight as a gunner. It might've been a ship with a female crew but he had managed to escape London. If he had stayed there much longer he would have faced the gallows at Newgate Prison.
He looked down at his clothes which had become slightly ragged after a while at sea. His dark green trousers were slightly faded at the knees. His brown boots were still fine though his expensive overcoat on another crate was showing a bit of wear and tear as was his waistcoat. He picked up the overcoat and climbed the stairs up to the deck. He moved to the side of the Ship and looked out into the harbour they were moored in.

Kate had never really had a Quartermaster like Jonathan. If he ever had any doubts with any of her orders, he never showed it - and that was hard to come across nowadays. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate it, but it was odd not to be contradicted or to have her hope diminished by constant negatives being brought to light. She smiled a rare smile at him once before heading up to the edge of the bow on the port side. They were well within firing range now - barely 50 feet from each other anymore - and nothing had happened, which was a good sign. Still, Captain Jones stood her ground, one hand on the hilt of her sword and the other giving a plain order that it was not time to fire.

Finally, Sonja decided on a course. Taking a last swig of her whiskey, she emerged from her quarters and moved across the decking to the stairs leading to the helm. Once their she looked down on her crew, each making sure that everything was in working order. Now that she had a plan, Sonja felt much better. While they may have millions below deck one could never have too much wealth. After making this strategic stop, which would insure that her and her crew would never go hungry she was now out to get even more. Not to mention possibly terrorize the Queen's navy. That thought made her chuckle.
"Alright! Weigh anchor, hoist up the sails, and lets get going!" Her voice rang throughout the entire ship so that everyone would hear her. Her smile was radiant as she was happy to be getting back to the open sea. Taking out her compass she calculated where would be best to cut out of this harbor.

"Not a bad day, the water's calm" he said leaning one hand on the side, "any news as to where we are heading next?I mean if we were to head anywhere we could earn millions with what we have below". The thought of the riches that would come from trading the oil gave the journey all the purpose of the voyages. Well next to the action and looting anyway.
He had barely finished talking when the captain's voice rang out from above. "Aye, aye Captain!" he responded loudly. He ran to the ropes and began hoisting the sails. At last they were off!

Kate saw the Firebird begin to turn in front of him and, her eyes widening slightly, shouted, Switch to starboard guns! Now! Pull the ship hard to port or we'll ram right into them! Kate swore under her breath and half-ran to the other side of the boat. The other boat seemed to be losing speed, though, from what she could tell. They were still barely 30 feet from one another. Ease up on her starboard flank, give them some space --- slow it down until we know exactly what we're dealing with. Was she condemning her crew by telling them to slow?

Charles swore onace again but louder, he had misjudged the space and speed they had and were about to ram. They had come upon them faster then he had intended. He jammed the wheel all the way to the starboard side. Prepare for ramming if it won't turn. He whispered to the boat telling it to turn. He saw some of his men loading canons. Don't fire! Wait til they start. Don't waste ammo. He turned grim. They needed just a little more room.

The ship began to turn away from it, slowing down as it did so, thanks to some member of the crew that Captain Jones would have to thank later. They didn't appear to want to fire on them without provocation, and that was a definite good sign. Drop the anchors. She knew that just because they didn't want to blow them to smithereens didn't mean they would just let them pass. Seeing what looked like the Captain at the stern of the boat, Kate didn't say anything, yet. They were still too far apart. The anchors connected with the bottom and the boat stopped, barely 15 feet from the Firebird.

He grabbed the hilt of his sword but didn't draw it. He thought they would make to board but they did no such thing. Drop anchor. When his men looked at him quizzacaly he gave them a whithering stare. They moved. He moved to the port side of his ship. He saw a beautiful lady standing at attention near the hull. He whistled under his breath, To bad she's an opposing pirate as of right now. He stood there staring back. It was as if they were waiting for the other to speak. But below that was a fight of wills. He kept silent waiting for her to break under his stare.

Kate looked calmly and unblinkingly into the Captain's eyes. She was nearly sure what was going on - it was common, when meeting an opposing pirate, not to be the first to show signs of weakness. Still, the silence was deafening. Not breaking his gaze, she said, Greetings, Captain. Formalities were extremely important when trying not to be blown up.

Charlie nodded not breaking his gaze, Greetings. How are we on this fine day? He asked as a way to continue measuring her up and up. She looked to be quite fit. Health wise speaking, of course. He felt Elixabeth fretting behind him. Elizabeth needed to calm down.

Charles grinned a toothy grin and blew hair out of his eyes, Interesting circumstances is one way to put it. He moved to the plank and told his men to move away and waited for the other captian to move.

Kate mirrored his movements, glancing back once at Jonathan and saying, Keep everybody where they are, I don't want any interference. When she had arrived at the new spot, she looked back at Charles and, having no prior encounters like this under her belt, knew not what to expect. So, formalities are through - what happens now?

When she asked the question he slowly rose an eyebrow. Without saying a word, he slowly grapped the plank and set it between the two ships. He hopped up and walked to the middle and waited without a word. A clear dare.
