Background: Jonathan, a pureblood, is willing to work with the pirates to wreak havoc on as many muggles as possible. He wants to do all he can to further the cause of the witches and wizards and is growing somewhat desperate. He is now masquerading as a pirate.
Personality: Jonathan is a very determined individual and once he makes his mind up, it is very difficult to convince him otherwise. He is a good person to have on your side, as he will work tirelessly if he believes in you.

Background: Samantha loves pirates and has no other goal in life but sailing on a pirate ship.
Personality: Samantha thinks pirates are romantic and handsome. She dreams of marrying a captain one day. She has always been a rebellious girl, and left her family for this dream.

Name: Tranton Lewis
Age: 24
Race: Muggle
Position: Captain of Island Ghost
Appearance:

Personality: Tranton is one of the best leaders around, perfect for a band of pirates. He's cool and level headed when he needs to be, along with being confident and sure of himself. However, this can sometimes get to his head, and he may get extremely bossy. He has an open ear to some things, but other beliefs he refuses to listen to the other side. He does have a temper, but it takes awhile for it to build up, and is usually quickly extinguished to be replaced by rationality.
Skills: Good with a sword, quick on his feet, and cool head in the heat of battle. His tactical plans are unrivaled, and he usually goes for the surprise attack.
Opinion on Witchcraft: Perfectly fine with it, they should be allowed to exist. However, none shall ever cause trouble on his ship! (or so he thinks...)
Background:
Tranton doesn't like to look back very much. He came from a middle to low class family, and they were always working hard to put together their next meal. It didn't help that things were a bit violent within the family as well, which is why he went into piracy. His belief was that if he could have survived his life at home, then piracy would be a piece of cake. Well, so far so good, and he's enjoying the life much more than he did his child hood. Just don't mention his family, and you'll be fine.

Race: Half-blood Witch
Position: First Mate (unless you want to switch her? I don't care!) of The Black Knight

Personality: Always willing to learn, Cassie keeps her eyes open. She learns quickly and isn't shy about asking questions. This, obviously, can get annoying at times, but she can hold a good conversation as well. Cassie is quite friendly overall, and associates with all of the crew members, learning what she can from them. She loves adventure, and will never be left behind when something new comes up. She has quite a temper though, and her sword is just as quick as her tongue. The best thing to do if she is upset is to run in the opposite direction, and hope that it dies down soon. However, she is quick to assess situations and make adjustments if need be.
Skills: Extremely skilled with a sword and knives and quick in tough situations.
Opinion on Witchcraft: None- for fear of revealing her identity
Background:
Raised in an upper class family, Cassie always knew something was... different in her family. Things just seemed to 'happen' with her. It wasn't until she was showing true magical ability that her father clued her in on the secret. He was a wizard, and while her mother knew, she only knew so much. Her father taught her magic and various skills that she needed to gain control and experience. However, her father wasn't the most pleasant person in the world, and he only worsened after her mother died from a disease. She escaped just before her father was accused of witchcraft, and changed her last name so that no association would be found. She slipped into the role of piracy when she stowed aboard the wrong ship, at about 16. From there, she found she loved the life and came aboard the Black Knight willingly.

Captain Jones had been pacing around her cabin for the past quarter of an hour with no signs of stopping. She was wringing her hands and trying to find a solution to the dire problem they were facing - the Duchess was running out of food very quickly. Unless she wanted to toss a few of her crew overboard (which, of course, she wished to do no such thing), they would have to stop at the next island they came to, regardless of who they met there.

This sincerely worried Kate, for they were in prime territory for the Island Ghost to be near, guarding its many sources of food in the area. She didn't think that getting to an island would be the problem, but she doubted highly that their presence would go unrecognized for long, and there was no telling how long it would take them to gather enough food for the next few weeks. Oh, if she knew who was at fault for not stocking the ship properly, there would be hell to pay.

Finally sitting down upon the hammock that Kate preferred to the usual bed of a captain, she looked herself over: She was wearing skin tight, long black pants, overlapped by high-laced boots and her normal long-sleeved, ruffled white shirt. She sighed slightly. As much as she didn't want to admit it, Kate missed being able to wear a non-constricting dress that she could feel like a girl in. Still, there was work to be done and no time to lose, so she exited her cabin and stepped into the fresh morning air on the deck of her beloved ship.

Captian Charles Ransom stood at the hull of his boat, the Firebird. They would need to make a stop for things if they were to continue to Africa. He turned to his Quartermaster, Elizabeth, he called. Come here. He turned back to look at the blue sky. He calculated how much he needed and where he would get it. He took out a spyglass and put it to his eye. Taking a look around he sighed and pulled the glass away. Turning to a map he found their location and noted they were in the waters near the Bahamas. He looked for Elizabeth. He called her name again.

Kate looked up and evaluated her ship, shielding her eyes from the bright sun with her sun-kissed hand. Everything seemed in perfect working order, and it was a beautiful day. The sky was bright blue with puffy white clouds that would provide brief-but-welcome spurts of shade throughout the day.

She walked up the solid wood steps until she was at the bow of the ship, away from the wheel. She looked at the oncoming water with apprehension, willing herself not to envision a ship larger than theirs approaching. She shuddered at the thought. Still no sign of an island, though --- yet.

Elizabeth shot up out of her sleep. She heard her captain, Charles Ransom, calling her name. She pulled on her clothes as quickly as possible."Where is my other boot?" She mumbled to herself. She found it and forced it onto her foot. Elizabeth quickly ran to the hull of the Firebird. This was the latest pirate ship she had been sold to."Yes captain?" she asked.

Jonathan Kincaid was hungry - hungry and angry. Being stuck at sea without food was hardly his idea of a party. The only reason he was even on this ship was to create a little havoc for some of the non-magical beings otherwise known as muggles. He knew that the pirates were dreaded and feared by most people and even though they weren't magical themselves, they were awe inspiring enough to achieve his purpose.

His captain, Kate, was up on the deck, and she was looking angry, too, he noticed. No doubt it was over the sorry situation with the food supply. Would that he could find the person responsible for this blunder, he thought as his stomach growled. What an incompetent oaf that person was!

Jonathan stood to his full height of 6'2". He was well muscled, with longish blond hair bleached by the sun and was wearing a black and white bandana tied around his head, ragged black pants and no shirt, typical of the way a male pirate would dress when out to sea. The sun was hot on his back today and he hoped they would discover treasure soon. That was what they were out here for, after all.

Samantha was displeased. She had finally managed to finaggle her way onto a pirate ship, the Black Knight, and now found herself serving as boatswain with a female captain and quartermaster, there were no men to be found! She gave a sigh, how was she ever to meet a handsome sea captain at this rate?

Samantha was dressed in a white dress with bodice top and full skirt, peasant style. Her long, wavy dark blonde hair flowed freely in the wind. She looked beautiful, as usual, but none of that mattered, out here with all these women. They were carrying oil, though, perhaps she would become rich as a result of this voyage. Right now, that was all she was hoping for.

Kate looked around and spotted her Quartermaster watching her. She grimaced at his expression, knowing how he felt - not that that made it any better at all. Her thoughts flitted to the riches stored below deck that half the crew didn't even know about; it was all very nice, but when you were talking about bargaining with opposing pirates, the thought of them accepting money for food was laughable. They were much more likely to steal the money or the captain in order to produce results. Kate wasn't particularly worried about that - she could handle herself - but what she was worried about was the alarming number of ships in the area who actually knew they had already gained plenty of wealth with Captain Jones's previous crew.

Don't complain,Adelpha Carvel said to herself sternly as her stomach rumbled loudly. She looked out at sea and at the gentle waves and wondered how she came to be in this situation, standing on a pirate ship with a severe lack of food and not being able to do magic.
Adelpha sighed and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand. At least The Duchess could be peaceful at times.

Just as she was about to suggest that the crew go below deck to escape the heat for a few hours, Kate spotted something out of the corner of her eye. She turned back to the open sea ahead of them and squinted at the speck for a moment before pulling out her spyglass and looking through it instead. Sure enough, an island was emerging from the water and coming upon the fast. Not sure if she was more happy or nervous, Kate turned back to the crew and said as she stowed away the looking device, Pull her up starboard and head at the island from an angle. Meanwhile, the rest of you make sure all of the guns are in working order with powder and balls quickly on hand if necessary. Captain Jones was back down the stairs in an instant as the rest of the crew began obeying her orders immediately.

"Aye captain," Jonathan nodded. It was about time they spotted land. Right now he was concerned about finding food, perhaps they had bananas or coconuts or something out there. He quickly wiped that thought out of his mind, at least for the moment. There were more important things to consider right now than feeding his stomach, much as that needed to be done. Their first concern was keeping themselves safe from anyone or anything that might be out there ahead of them. As he pulled the ship to starboard, he began inspecting for any sign of life, after ensuring that the cannons were properly fortified.

Kate walked over to the side of the ship, satisfied that things were under control, and did her best to stay out of the crew's way while she attempted to scour the little of the island she could see. It was still a bit too far off to tell, but she thought she saw the tall mast of a ship bigger than there's just offshore and her blue eyes widened slightly. What were they getting themselves into. Jonathan? Kate said, approaching him at the stern of the ship where he was manning the wheel. What do you make of that? Kate asked, fearing the worst as she pointed out the tall beam sitting atop a black mass and handing him her spyglass.

Hi is it too late to join? This looks brilliant and considering how I watched pirates of the caribbean dead man's chest last night is a wee bit coincidental.

Personality:He seems to be very sure about what is right and wrong but he is occasionally stumped. He can be humorous but he can be severe at times. He generally gets along with most people but when someone crosses the line they had better step out of the way. He is very selfserving anyway as he has had to look after himself for most of his life so he has to ignore what his small conscience tells him. His parents were poor and threw him out at the age of 16 when he refused to become an apprentice blacksmith. He still retains that rebellious streak. He used to sleep above an inn in exchange for a weekly supply of pork which he stole from the local butchers.

Captain Sonja McCreed stood in her quarters mapping out their next course of travel. They were moored in the harbor with full supplies, ready to weigh anchor and head out to the open sea. the question was where to go? Sighing, Sonja grabbed her half drank bottle of whiskey and took another swig. Straightening up from her desk she took to pacing the room. Her heeled black boots making a steady rhythm on the newly polished hardwood floor.

Standing at a good 5'9'' Captian sonja McCreed made for an impressive figure. She was dressed in a crisp white shirt with long sleeves that flared until they hit the cuffs. A belt cinched around her narrow waist and lead into her smooth black pants that were tucked into her new and stylish heeled boots. Her long black hair hung loose down her back left free to do as it pleased.

Again she was plagued with where to go. Her crew was growing steadily. Having just acquired a new boatswain, Sonja was feeling happy with how things were shapeing up. Her pacing continued as the beginnings of a plan was forming in her head. They needed a course and a purpose. Her contact had informed her of some work that promised to pay big for the experienced pirate and her crew.

OoC: You never mentioned where the Black Knight was so I kinda improvised. I can change it if you'd like ;-)

While Elizabeth waited for her captains response she thought about how great her past three months on the Firebird had been. The first month she was here she had been swabbing the deck. The next month she had been working the guns. Since her ship was carrying the largest weaponry supply she wasn't afraid of attacks which she had been invovled in many a time on other ships. Then finally her third month she had gained the captains trust and had become the Quartermaster. This meant if anything ever happened to the captain she would become the captain of the Firebird. But she doubted that this would happen any time soon. He was in great health and he was great looking.

Looking up at the footsteps drawing nearer. Elizabeth. Good. I need an invintory list of what we need. Food, medical, arms, anything. We need to go ashore soon. We will stop at the Bahamas. That might be Island Ghost terittory but we have better fire and can run them off long enough to get what we need. He looked at her to make sure she was getting this when he heard a shout from above, Captain! Ship to the starboard side! Running to the side he grabbed his spyglass and put it to his eye. Sure enough a ship was heading near their direction. He turned and yelled below, Man the cannons. Hod yer fire until they are upon us or start to fire in our range. We don't want to start a war when we are low on supplies. Sure that his orders would be followed he moved back to Elizabeth. Continue the inspection. Don't waste much more time.

"Aye captain." Elizabeth said. She ran down the wooden steps to the food cellar."Food's good." She mumbbled she made a mental note of it. She ran to where the medicenes were kept."Medicine is good." She made a mental note. Next she ran to the arms."Everything looks goo- uh-oh." She ran to the captain."Food and medicine is good but we are low on cannon balls sir. If we do come across the Island Ghost what will we do?" She said. Elizabeth was tough so she wouldn't show it, but on the inside she was having a panic attack. What if we do if we run out of cannon balls. What will we do if our weoponr supplies run out before me reach Africa? What if we die?"I'm to young and pretty to die." she mummbled to herself.

Jonathan took the spyglass from Kate and looked through it. It was pretty clear that there was a ship out there, a ship that was larger than theirs and was apparently already moored at this island. To make matters worse, Jonathan recognized the flag as belonging to pirates, even though he had never seen this particular flag before. It didn't belong to Britain, Spain, France or any other country he had ever seen, and the fact that there was a skull on there was a pretty conclusive giveaway. "I would say that another group of pirates arrived here on this island before we did," he said with a sigh. What else could go wrong, and starving as they were and desperate, he wondered if they had any other choice but to land and at least search for fruit. It was all up to Kate.

Samantha saluted her captain. They were a crew of women, but they were going to show them! They would be the greatest pirates in the world and the men would have to stand back and take notice, then they could all have their pick of whichever men they wanted! Samantha gave an evil grin at the thought. She was actually beginning to feel very proud to be the boatswain on this ship.

Kate eyed the approaching ship with apprehension, and it wasn't long before she realized that they were coming upon each other much quicker than the Duchess was moving which meant only one thing - their ship was moving, too.

Kate took a deep breath before saying, Yes, but here's the thing. We're moving far too slow to be coming this close this fast. Doing some mental math and serious speculation, she guessed they had less than three minutes before they were in firing range with one another. The thing was, she could tell from the bow of the on-coming ship that it was not the Island Ghost. As much as it sounded like good news, Kate knew that a much larger, more heavily armed ship prowled these waters as well, and it looked they were about to meet it.

She looked back at Jonathan and said, Get all hands on deck - I'm not taking any chances with this one. She nodded curtly to him once before heading down to the middle of the boat and shouting so everyone could hear her, I want every gun on the port side manned. All powder and cannonballs not locked up are to be on deck immediately. Everybody's pistol is to be ready, but we are not fighting unless we are attacked first. Keep a weather eye on them. She walked briskly back to her cabin where she tied a piece of string with an old, rusty key hanging from it around her neck and hid it beneath the ruffles of the neck of her shirt, placed a second sword in her hilt, and her pistol in her belt before coming back out on deck to meet the opposition. One good thing about her crew was, she blended in with them, so unless she was seen giving orders or the other pirates were exceptionally good at locating people they'd never seen, no one would know who the captain was and no one on her ship was stupid enough to give up that information unless necessary.

"You heard the captain, man all guns on the port side!", Jonathan called out. Suddenly he noticed something. "Captain, I believe I can make out the name of that ship, if I'm not mistaken. It appears that the ship's name is the Firebird. Does that name ring a bell to you?" He was trying to recall if he had ever heard that name before, surely he must have, since it was obviously a very large pirate ship, but he couldn't think of where it might have come up. And why did they have to be here in the same place where the Duchess was, especially with them dying of starvation and thirst? Well, the Firebird was larger but if they wanted to engage they would engage, and fight to the death, they would.

But Jonathan had no intention of dying. There were things he wanted to do, and dying was definitely not one of them.

Kate was brought up short by this and quickly pressed her spyglass back to her eye as they approached each other rapidly, decreasing the gap more and more every second. She, too, could now see the fine words on the side of the ship. She lowered the glass and nodded once. Yes, she said, her voice much softer than usual. It does indeed. She looked over at him. I don't want any trouble because if we start fighting, we could very well be on the bottom of the ocean before we can use our light weight to get away, but if it comes to that, your first priority is to get everyone to safety, is that understood? She didn't need any heroic attempts - anyone who fell behind was left behind, and if keeping the Duchess on top of the water instead of beneath it meant losing the captain and considerable money - well, what would come would come, that's for sure.

Adelpha was waiting with bated breath. Say they did attack? She heard the captain say that she didn't want any trouble and neither did Adelpha. She was perfectly content just the way she was a minute ago, complaining about how hungry she was, but she was not hungry anymore.
Adelpha made sure everything was ready as a precaution and kept her small, shaky hand on the pistol at her side.

"Aye, captain," Jonathan said. He was in complete agreement, definitely wanting to live another day and not wanting any trouble from that huge ship. They would fire back only if they were fired upon, and if necessary, sneak off into the night to live another day. No shame in that. There was too much treasure and bounty in the world, too much mayhem to create, to blow it all in some stupid, needless fight.
