This RP is the backstory for one of my school RP characters, Professor Doyle Branxton. I find it intriguing that he was a Slytherin, yet he was very much the goody two shoes. I'm guessing he was placed in Slytherin due to his ambition but, I really don't know all that much about him and would like to explore his history a bit more. I get to know my characters best through RPing with others so, I hope some of you will join me in the RP. Since this RP will take place slightly after the time of Harry Potter, I'm looking for mostly made-up characters, though some of the professors may or may not still be around (we can decide those details later as I don't anticipate the professors playing major roles).

The year is 2035 (39 years after Harry & Voldemort perish in their epic battle of good versus evil). It is Doyle Branxton's final year at Hogwarts and he is Head Boy. Interestingly enough, it is also the final year for a Hufflepuff girl (Nora Leiden) and a Gryffindor boy (Kobus Hendrik).

Note for those who follow the school RP: Zizhen would be a second year, Devine would be a first year, Hutchinson would be a 3rd year, and Yarns would be a fifth year.

I'm not sure how this RP will play out since it's a simple plot: Doyle's life and friends in his seventh year. I suspect he had several close friends and they didn't necessarily all have to be in Slytherin house. This probably caused some contention between himself and his housemates so, there's room for people to chose whether they want to be a friend or foe. Remember, he's a Slytherin, but he is rather prim and proper (or maybe that's just what we think

Please don't be intimidated. I'm hoping to include some regular members in this RP, not just my staff buddies, though I'm sure they're going to join up (or, I hope). So, jump in if you'd like to play along. If you'd like to join but, are having trouble coming up with a character, post anyway and we'll work something out.

Birthdate: March 8, 2018 (so he's 17 at the start)

Looks: Doyle is six feet tall with black hair and blue eyes. He is a medium build and wears glasses. His appearance is always neat and tidy and it's a wonder he can even come out of herbology looking spic n' span.

Personality: Doyle is calm and quiet. He has a few close friends. Most people mistake his quiet, thoughtfulness for being shy. Despite this seeming shyness, he is well suited to prefecting though, he would prefer to listen in silence rather than participate in scuffles and arguments. He is very studious, excelling in all his classes, even though he doesn't particularly like charms (I'm not sure why not, yet). I see Doyle as being rather Percy-ish when it comes to his duties as head boy and being respected as such, though he's not quite as stuck up as Percy tends to come off.

History: There was some muggle blood a few generations back in Doyle's family, but there are few wizarding families without such interminglings at some point so, for all intents and purposes, he is a pureblood. Doyle was always interested in seeing how things worked, even as a young child. He displayed the typical signs of magical abilities in his youth and was, of course, given admission to Hogwarts.

It took him a while to make friends since he was sorted into Slytherin house and had seemingly nothing in common with his housemates. Despite efforts on the staff's part to promote inter-house relations, the other three houses were still wary of anyone in Slytherin house. Most of his friendships were formed with people from other houses, causing a further rift between Doyle and his housemates. Despite this rift, he was given the post of prefect in his fifth year, a duty he took to heart.

He is now a rather ambitious seventh year student and head boy to boot. He has aspirations of gaining employment with the Ministry of Magic and, as such, is studying hard for his NEWTs.

"Well, I don't think it's any secret to anyone that you both love and enjoy being in this position of power. That shiny badge on your robes, just there," Clara poked at it, "says it all. Maybe you've always wanted this and would have done anything to get to this position." Clara was talking more to herself than him, at this point. She was writing an article in her head. Where were her blasted notebooks?! "It was destiny." Clara paused and put a finger in the air, "Doyle's Destiny."

His face revealed nothing of his thoughts at her words. He had always wanted this and would have done quite a bit in order to obtain it, just as he would do just about anything to achieve his lifelong ambition to become Minister of Magic. "Perhaps," he said, opening the door and stepping aside to let Clara go in first.

Clara squinted at him as she passed him. "You know I'm right. You do. You don't even have to say, because your eyes give you away." Okay, so Clara made that part up. She didn't know Doyle well enough to know about his eyes... yet. She was working on it though. Clara took a seat and pulled out the one beside her for Doyle.

Seventh year Ancient Runes wasn't the most popular class so he didn't have to accept the seat beside Clara, though he did. His gentlemanly upbringing wouldn't permit him to snub her without due cause. Just becasue she could guess his ambitions didn't mean he could just start to ignore her. In fact, it would probably only cause her to start dreamin gup other stories about him so he might as well just give her what she wanted and maybe she'd... what? He shook his head and started taking out his books, parchment, quill, and ink, placing them just so on the desk in front of him.

Clara only had a few spare peices of parchment and the quill she'd borrowed from Crys in her robes. She got those out and tried to arrange her pitiful array of school supplies like Doyle. It wasn't anything like his. "Do you put those in some sort of specific order? Like, alphabetical?" Clara leaned over them," P before Q, so parchement before quill..."

Doyle sighed, though he was used to being teased about his neatness and organization. "Don't be absurd. I merely place them in an arrangement which provides me with the most efficient notetaking environment," he explained, carefully tapping the edges of the parchment where they stuck out ever so slightly to be sure they were completely aligned on top of each other.

Clara moved his quill an inch or so over, just to see what he'd do about it. "Were you just born that way? Or was your parents that way?"

Doyle's hand twitched but, he managed to keep himself from pulling his quill back by diverting that energy to cleaning his glasses, instead. "My family is also neat and precise. Whether my neatness stems from birth or environment however, I don't know," he answered, subconsciously moving the quill back after he had finished cleaning his glasses.

Doyle was practically glaring at her now. "I sleep quite well, thank you. I do enjoy butterbeer and it may come as a surprise to you that I also enjoy the wine we have with family dinners when I am at home," he said, finally turning away from her and looking to the front of the classroom in the hopes that class would be beginning.

Clara simply reached over and petted the top of his hand. "I was only asking," she whispered. Doyle had gotten irritated with her at least three times in the last two days. He was would too tight, Clara knew.

"I know," he whispered back, though he still sounded a bit annoyed and he refused to look at her. Finally, the professor stood and started the lecture. Doyle picked up his quill, dipped it in ink and began to write his notes, though how he was able to write so neatly at such a quick pace was beyond mortal comprehension.

Clara, to no one's surprise, was an excellent note taker. She caught up to the professor and started the assignment. "Do you want to go work on this in the Common Room together? I'm dreadfully bored of this room." Clara put the back of her hand up to her forehead for dramatic effect.

Fabian made his way into the great hall whistling a tune to himself, mighty happy setting an easy date for tonight. He walked over to their house table and began collecting some of his, bren & Kali's favorite food in one of the large trays.

Doyle looked over at Clara and then around at the rest of the class that was hurrying out the door. He usually preferred to stay here and do his work after everyone got out as it was the quietest place to be aside from the library, though even that could lend itself to distractions. But, he supposed working with Clara wouldn't be so bad. "I suppose," he said, starting to put his things away in the same methodical and precise manner with which he had removed them.

"Really?!" Clara folded up her one piece of parchment and tucked Crys's quill behind her ear. "You don't much seem like the domestic type. I like that. I'd love to your own homeade cocoa. Is it a secret recipe? I do love secrets!" Clara was positively bursting with excitement.

Doyle started when he realized what he'd just done. To cover it up, he shifted one of the sheets in his bag and then clasped it shut. "The recipe isn't secret but, the fact that I do make it on occassion is; as well as where I go to brew... make it."

Crystal had made her way to the Ancient Runes classroom. It wasn't a subject on her timetable, but within the classroom was a subject she was concerned about. There it was, right in front of her face. Coop had been right - she owed him an apology. She stalked off to the bathroom.

Clara was in heaven. "Oh Doyle, are you taking me there?! To your secret brewing place!?" Clara was practically squealing. She took hold of the front of Doyle's robes and squeezed them excitedly.

Doyle flushed slightly and stepped back, trying to fix his robes. "It isn't that exciting," he spluttered, thinking he'd made a mistake in even mentioning it, though he did have several other escapes and he certainly wouldn't go back to the one he had in mind to show Clara. "It's up the Astronomy tower, two floors below the top."

Clara watched him curiously for a minute before stepping out and going in the general direction of the Astronomy Tower. It was a shock really that he'd take her anywhere, and an even greater shock to take her somewhere alone and give her secrets and chocolate. It was like a date, really. And it was all his idea. Clara giggled madly on the inside as they walked through the corridor. She hadn't even thought of her missing belongings in a minute or two.
