This RP is the backstory for one of my school RP characters, Professor Doyle Branxton. I find it intriguing that he was a Slytherin, yet he was very much the goody two shoes. I'm guessing he was placed in Slytherin due to his ambition but, I really don't know all that much about him and would like to explore his history a bit more. I get to know my characters best through RPing with others so, I hope some of you will join me in the RP. Since this RP will take place slightly after the time of Harry Potter, I'm looking for mostly made-up characters, though some of the professors may or may not still be around (we can decide those details later as I don't anticipate the professors playing major roles).

The year is 2035 (39 years after Harry & Voldemort perish in their epic battle of good versus evil). It is Doyle Branxton's final year at Hogwarts and he is Head Boy. Interestingly enough, it is also the final year for a Hufflepuff girl (Nora Leiden) and a Gryffindor boy (Kobus Hendrik).

Note for those who follow the school RP: Zizhen would be a second year, Devine would be a first year, Hutchinson would be a 3rd year, and Yarns would be a fifth year.

I'm not sure how this RP will play out since it's a simple plot: Doyle's life and friends in his seventh year. I suspect he had several close friends and they didn't necessarily all have to be in Slytherin house. This probably caused some contention between himself and his housemates so, there's room for people to chose whether they want to be a friend or foe. Remember, he's a Slytherin, but he is rather prim and proper (or maybe that's just what we think

Please don't be intimidated. I'm hoping to include some regular members in this RP, not just my staff buddies, though I'm sure they're going to join up (or, I hope). So, jump in if you'd like to play along. If you'd like to join but, are having trouble coming up with a character, post anyway and we'll work something out.

Name: Doyle Branxton

Birthdate: March 8, 2018 (so he's 17 at the start)

Looks: Doyle is six feet tall with black hair and blue eyes. He is a medium build and wears glasses. His appearance is always neat and tidy and it's a wonder he can even come out of herbology looking spic n' span.

Personality: Doyle is calm and quiet. He has a few close friends. Most people mistake his quiet, thoughtfulness for being shy. Despite this seeming shyness, he is well suited to prefecting though, he would prefer to listen in silence rather than participate in scuffles and arguments. He is very studious, excelling in all his classes, even though he doesn't particularly like charms (I'm not sure why not, yet). I see Doyle as being rather Percy-ish when it comes to his duties as head boy and being respected as such, though he's not quite as stuck up as Percy tends to come off.

History: There was some muggle blood a few generations back in Doyle's family, but there are few wizarding families without such interminglings at some point so, for all intents and purposes, he is a pureblood. Doyle was always interested in seeing how things worked, even as a young child. He displayed the typical signs of magical abilities in his youth and was, of course, given admission to Hogwarts.

It took him a while to make friends since he was sorted into Slytherin house and had seemingly nothing in common with his housemates. Despite efforts on the staff's part to promote inter-house relations, the other three houses were still wary of anyone in Slytherin house. Most of his friendships were formed with people from other houses, causing a further rift between Doyle and his housemates. Despite this rift, he was given the post of prefect in his fifth year, a duty he took to heart.

He is now a rather ambitious seventh year student and head boy to boot. He has aspirations of gaining employment with the Ministry of Magic and, as such, is studying hard for his NEWTs.

"He implied that someone may have stolen your bag which contained your notebooks," Doyle replied, his features changing from anger to contrition. "I'm so sorry, Clara. I didn't even think to bring your bag with us when I escorted you back to the common room this morning."

"I asked him not to tell anyone," Clara explained, her voice very small now. "It's not your fault, so please don't appologize. If anyone should be appologizing it should be me." Clara bowed her head, indicating that she was just that, sorry.

"No, you were in no position to be thinking about where your things had got to. As your escort it was my responsiblity to ensure you got back to the common room safe, and with anything you may have had on your person whilst in the Great Hall. Please don't apologize. I'm also sorry Vindictus broke your confidence, though I can't say I'm suprised," he said, offering her an arm.

Clara blew out all her air and shook her head as she took his arm. "No, Doyle. That was all an act. I'm a right show out. Or probably a more proper term would be a fool. It's no fault of yours. So, please, spare me the added on guilt and let me appologize to you."

"You can apologize for the act but, that doens't excuse the fact that I overlooked your things when I escorted you earlier today. Whether or not you needed the escort is beside the point," Doyle replied, patting her hand. His mother would be terribly disappointed with such a mistake, especially since he knew how important Clara's bag was to her and that she would never go anywhere without it. He should have known to look for it.

Clara jerked her hand away. "You're supposed to be mad at me, Doyle Branxton. You're supposed to be mad that I faked a fit in the Great Hall, which lead to the stealing of my bag, that has secrets about the both of us in it. Could you at least be a little mad at me?"

"I am angry that your bag with our secrets was stolen but, that anger is directed the one who perpetrated the crime, not at you. I knew you'd write what we discussed down and if I didn't, I should have known."

"You only make me feel worse," Clara sighed. "Doyle.. I wrote things in that notebook that were never meant to be seen. You do understand that, right?"

"That's what journals are for," he said, then paused, finally thinking of something that might make her feel a little better since she seemed to want to be chastized. "But, if it'll make you feel better, I will ask you one thing. Why didn't you charm them or buy special notebooks for your notes so that others wouldn't be able to view the contents should they fall into the wrong hands?"

"Well.... I suppose that is a fair enough question," though, Clara was blushing. "I don't have a good explanation. It's been stolen before, a notebook here, a notebook there - but never my whole bag. I guess I am foolish for trusting people. Not to mention - charms of that nature could be very dangerous for others." It was a feeble, feeble excuse. "Can I say something to you and you not feel weird or blush or clean your glasses?"

Just her saying that made him take off his glasses to clean them. "It's just a habit," he replied with a shrug and half smile. "What is it?"

Clara took a long deep breath and fixed the front of her robes. "Before... you find out otherwise, I wrote about you in my journal. Some good, some bad, and some embarrassing. I just don't want you to be surprised when you here about it." Clara stared at the floor.

"I'm not surprised but..." Doyle hesitated a moment before finally asking. "Like what?"

"Like... all the things I like and dislike about you...," Clara twisted her foot a little. She hated being embarrassed. "I might have a tiny crush on you. I don't know. It's just a journal and I just don't want you to be surprised. So, there." Clara took a deep breath.

"Oh," Doyle replied, completely floored by her admission and really not sure what to say. He slowly replaced the glasses he'd taken off and looked around a bit uncomfortably.

Clara laughed. "Well, you did ask," she pointed out. It was definitely time to move on. Definitely. "So, what shall we do about this? The journal, that is."

"Well, I could assist you in attempting to retrieve it, of course. Where have you looked so far?" he asked, glad for the change in subject.

Clara stared back at Doyle flatly. "Um... no where. Where do you even begin a search like that? This school is massive, in case you haven't been around." Clara rubbed her temples. Clara had also written about Cooper in her notebook. Merlin help her. "This is bad."

"The first place I would look is the lost and found. While it is unlikely to be there if it was stolen, it's a good place to check. Then I would inform our Head of House of the theft. Finally, the only thing we can do is keep our eyes open, though if it was stolen I doubt the perpestrator would just leave it laying out in the open."

"I don't wany anymore people to know though, Doyle. The less people that know it's missing, perhaps the less people it will get around, too. I'm not sure you're really appreciating the extent of the details and the amount of people I talk about in these journals, Doyle." Clara went to just walk away, feeling very upset about the whole ordeal all over again. But, she quickly turned back, voice only wavering at first. "I.. I think that if we make it out to be a big deal, it'll become a big deal. If we pretend it's nothing, then maybe it'll be nothing."

"This isn't panicking. Wait until the people have read what I wrote and they're all trying to kill me. That will be panicking. I think I'll pay extra attention today in Defense Against the Dark Arts," Clara attempted to joke. She wished he'd said something more than "Oh" earlier. Though, maybe it was a blessing. Maybe it was nothing? Maybe. "Maybe you're right. I guess I'll go there."

"If the one who stole your notebooks is foolish enough to attmept to kill you, then you'll know who it was who took them and stand a good chance of getting them back," Doyle pointed out.

Clara again had to give Doyle her very flat and unamused look. "I'm not sure I'm willing to take that chance. Suppose they succeed?" Clara tapped her toe and crossed her arms. She wanted an answer to that question.

"First of all, I highly doubt anyone would actually try to murder you. Second of all, it is even less likely that they would succeed, especially here. Third of all, if they succeeded, you'd be dead and then what would it matter anymore?"
