Scene Two: During their time in Florida, several things will happen. We will see the strengthening of Nate and Cadence's relationship, and we witness them (especially Cadence) realizing what it means to be growing up. Also, Nate will be running into old friends, they will travel to Disney world, go to the drive-in, and possibly have a run-in with a crocodile. At the end of this section, Cadence will receive a letter about her parents, who passed away three years previously. Characters: Cadence, Nate, Iris, Fallon, and Patrick. OPEN to other characters.
Scene Three: Here, Cadence and Nate will travel back to England much earlier than expected, but they don't tell Nate's parents or Cady's grandparents that they're back, nor do they return to Hogwarts. They're on a mission to find whoever wrote Cadence the letter. Cadence, Nate, and their friends/frienemies from Hogwarts will team up and go on a quest to find the answers to Cadence's questions. The problems keep coming when they realize that they are all underage and aren't allowed to use magic. Unfortunately, many of them will be put in situations where magic will be necessary to save lives. Characters: Cadence, Nate, Melanie, Asher, Ziva, Torin, and Mysterious Man. Scene Four: The journey takes the group to an old, majestic manor house in Ireland, where Cadence has been told she will find the answers to all her questions. They all enter the house together, but along the way they reach obstacles, and Cadence must begin to make choices of who she wants to travel forward with her. When she reaches the very top of the highest tour in manor, she must choose between her best friend, Melanie, and her boyfriend, Nate. She refuses, proclaiming she wont leave either behind. The door in front of her opens to reveal Cadence's parents: alive and well. Characters: Cadence, Nate, Melanie, Asher, Ziva, Torin, ALL other characters from Scene Three, and Cadence's mom and dad. You will notice that the RP is set up in such a way that many characters come and go. I've done this intentionally so that people can still participate in the RP if they can't be committed to it for the entire duration of the RP.
I would like to encourage you to take on the challenge and fill roles that need to be filled, even if it's a type of role you've never played before.

I do reserve the right to reject any characters created. This is mostly to keep a reasonable number of characters and to ensure that roles essential to the plot are filled first.

As the plot progresses, I will fill players in with all necessary information to help the plot progress in the way it is supposed to via PM. There are some details that not all players will receive beforehand just because it makes it more fun if you don't know everything.

SPOILER!!: Cadence Ballard
Basic Information Name: Cadence Hope Ballard Nicknames: Cady, Cad (but the only people who DON'T call her Cadence are Melanie and Nate) Gender: Female Year: 3rd (but she's supposed to be a 4th year... keep reading to find out!) Age: 14 Birthday: September 9 Magical Descent: Half-and-Half. Her dad was a Muggle and her mom was a witch. Family: The only family she has left are her grandparents on her mom's side. Relationship Status: In a relationship with Nate King.
History:
Cadence was in born in England, and spent most of her primary school years attending an all-girls boarding school on the countryside. Her parents loved her very much: her father was a muggle, and her mother was a witch. They felt that as she was growing up, it was important for her to experience life both as a Muggle and as a witch so that she could function in either world. Thus, while she attended a Muggle school until coming to Hogwarts.
While enrolled in Muggle school, she was very actively involved in both choir and the theatre program. She was more of an artsy child and never really cared for physical education or sports. That is something about her personality that hasn't changed.
When leaving her muggle school on holidays, Cadence was never quite sure where she would be taken by her parents. They traveled all-over the world participating in a peace-keeping organization. So, Cadence has seen a lot of the world, and yet she's experienced so little of it. Whenever they were not at their home in England, there were always adults keeping a close eye on Cadence so that no harm would come to her.
Eventually, her Hogwarts letter came, and she was ecstatic that she would finally be learning about magic! She came to Hogwarts at age 11 with wide eyes and a mind open to learning anything and everything. That all changed very quickly, however, when she received a letter from one of her parents' friends telling her that they had been killed. This was a devastating blow to Cadence; she had always been so incredibly close to her parents. She was daddy's little girl and mommy's little helper. With the help of her friend Melanie and her boyfriend Set, she managed to press forward, though she was unsure where she would be going after the school year ended. Before Cadence had even adjusted to this, though, her boyfriend Set was murdered in the library. Now all of Cadence's hope and faith and trust that the world was a good place was shattered. Days after his death, she became so disturbed and angry that she actually destroyed the Hufflepuff Common Room, not stopping until Mr. Masterson came in and grabbed her right as she passed out.
Cadence woke up weeks later in St. Mungo's not remembering anything about her life after Set's death. She didn't remember destroying the common room or Mr. Masterson's kind help. Nothing at all. After being awake for a couple days, her grandparents finally came to visit her. Cadence had never seen nor talked to these grandparents. These were her mother's parents, her father's having passed away before Cadence was 3, and they had wanted nothing to do with her mother after she had married Cadence's Muggle father. The Grogans were purebloods and felt that all wizards should carry on the pureblood tradition. They were not affectionate nor compassionate during their visits. On the contrary, they blamed Cadence's unbalanced behavior on her less-than-desirable breeding.
Nevertheless, when the time came for Cadence to leave St. Mungo's, her grandparents offered her room and board provided she stick to her room and stay quiet except at meal times. Most teenagers wouldn't mind so much living with their grandparents, but Cadence's grandparents had taken her in out of pity and because it would make them look bad to not take her; it had nothing to do with loving her. Eventually, Cadence was allowed to start school again, primarily in the form self-education. Once a week, a tutor would visit her and check over her work, and a therapist would come talk to her about how she was doing. For all of this, Cadence stayed in her room. After months of begging, Cadence finally got her grandparents to bring a dance instructor in twice a week. Cadence had convinced her therapist to tell her grandparents it would be good for her.
Those were the only times she was happy at her grandparents house, when she was dancing. When she was dancing, she could be free and let go of everything else in the world. Those four hours a week were wonderful.
Now, Cadence is back at Hogwarts, finally! She's struggled to adjust and sometimes acts in ways that even she doesn't understand. She has a tendency to overreact and be dramatic, but with what she's been through, who could blame her for her lack of social skills.
Personality: Sweet and good-natured. She hates making enemies. Loves to laugh and have a good time. Has a slight tendency to be dramatic and overreact (though she's getting better about it.) Doesn't like confrontation. She just wants to be liked and loved and to give her love to others. Cadence is also a very physical person and tends to use her body to assert her independence and freedom from her grandparents' strict lifestyle. This tendency also leads her to be a very physically affectionate person and makes it very difficult for her to mask her emotions because her body language will almost always give it away.

He was home schooled untill last term then his mom lost her job so she couldn't support him staying at home. He is a poor student because he never taught himself and knows the basics of magic. He loves Muggle studies because he lived as a muggle for so long. He loves soccer and hates the cold. He broke up with Ella, his now ex-girlfriend after falling head over heels for Cadence. He loves to have fun and hates drama. He protects Cadence strongly. He is afraid of saying 'I love you.' because he never heard it from his parents.

Backstory: Iris was born in a small French town, that no longer exists. Only those who knew of it before know of it now. Her parents were both full blooded and very happy Slytherins. She was brought up to know that anyone less than pure blood was beneath them and that muggles were absolutely disgusting. Iris attended Hogwarts where she was placed as a Hufflepuff much to her and her parents’ dismay. She caused all sorts of trouble and spent most of her time in detention. While in school, she met a young man who was her first husband from Slytherin soon after they graduated from Hogwarts, Wilson Meader.
Wilson died a few years later after a horrific fight between himself and a close friend and left Iris with a fortune of money and their large mansion in the east London country side. Eight years later at the age of twenty-eight, Iris remarried to a man named Leo Austain, they were happily married for twelve years before Leo died of natural causes, leaving her with more money to inherit and their only child Mary Alice Austain. At the age of forty-two she married Alec Belihov from France. She moved herself and Mary in with the Alec. Alec died two years later from a muggle car accident. At forty-five, Iris married her fourth husband, Ronsan Lovell. He passed away from a heart attack, leaving his whole life fortune to Iris to inherit. At fifty, Iris married, Lee Acklaner who died three years later in his sleep beside Iris. A seven years later at the age of sixty one, Iris married her last and latest husband, Brad Myason. He died after a very short marriage of seven and half months of a heart attack, leaving Iris in a state of shock and lovesick, never able to marry again.
Though Iris had been through several marriages and death, she took very good care of her daughter Mary. She was very tough on her, though, as her parents had been on her. And even though she was a proud Hufflepuff one she graduated from Hogwarts, she had always felt she was a Slytherin and wanted her to be just like Iris’ mother. Iris took Brad’s death very hard and didn’t want to speak with Mary, and hasn’t spoken to her since the day they found out Brad was dead. Instead, she began drowning her feelings in alcohol.
Less than two months after Brad’s death Iris moved from France to the United States where she lives in a very large beach house on the Sebastian Beach.

Backstory
Fallon grew up as a child in Chicago, Illinois. She lived with her mother, father, and her little brother. Then, her parents got divorced when she was 10. Her mother moved her to England to live with her grandparents. She went to Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin. There she met some of her best friends: Aaron, Iris, Grace, and Satine. Grace had to move away after first year and Fallon was just left with the three.
At the beginning of second year, Fallon met Evan. Once term started, her and Evan started to date. She met Nate about halfway through the year and always enjoyed hanging out with him. Near the end of the year, Fallon got a letter saying that she was going to move with her mother and grandparents to Florida. She wasn't happy about leaving her friends behind, especially Evan. Breaking up with Evan was really hard, but now she has a new boyfriend, Patrick. She really enjoys spending time with him and he is almost always with Fallon. She can't stand some of the rules at her new school and loves to complain about it.

Backstory
Patrick was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He grew up along the beach with his muggle father and his mother and his two little twin sisters (11). He learned how to surf when he was 9 and enjoys teaching anyone that wishes to learn.
Patrick was really excited to start going to school. He loves everyone there and doesn't like the fact that most of his friends stay at the school during their winter break. This year he's lucky though. He has Fallon who is willing to spend everyday of the summer with him. He really likes spending time with her and hopes she never has to leave.

Asher is usually quiet and serious but he loves to have a great time when he’s with his family or close friends. He's a loyal friend to have, but don't get him on his bad side. Insults usually make him laugh, he won't stoop to that level to fire any back; he has better things to be doing.

Asher graduated from Hogwarts with high marks and recommendations; he continued on to train as a healer. Once he completed training he worked at Saint Mungo’s as a healer. During the course of the last few years, Asher would work off and on. He made sure to provide everything he could for the family and also spend time with them. It helped to have Maudi, their Russian maid join them eight years ago.
Asher is close to the kids, though he is probably the closest with Ziva. Now that the kids are getting older Asher is ready for a career change and to meet new people.

Melanie was born in a small town in England, the same place where her parents met and married. She spent the first four years of her life there and it is where most of her relatives on her mother's side live. Her mom was only just getting out of college and kick-starting her career as a journalist when she had her. After a few years of struggling, a big city newspaper editor caught site of her column in another, community one and asked her to join their team, which Elizabeth Lockhart gladly obliged to. Though she was quite pleased with her new occupation, the woman got tired of that quickly, and wanted to move on to something more to her taste.
Television Broadcasting. After a riff with her mother, who disproved of her ever changing wishes and rash, spontaneous decisions, Elizabeth decided that with a new job should come a new home, away from her family, which meant a move. Her husband reluctantly agreed, under one condition, and left his job as a teacher, to go to America, where he was born. John Lockhart's condition was that they go to New York City, to live where he grew up.
And so they moved. Elizabeth secured a job, with the local news broadcasting network. John decided to start a Movie Rental shop, which was a struggled at first, but later brought in enough money to pay for itself, and then some. Within a few months the store was up and running, with Alec helping outon the side and Jpohn working as the manager. Melanie and her brother were both enrolled into Muggle School (Melanie after she was old enough).
Eventually they settled in, Melanie not so happily. She loved New York City, with all it's bright lights, tall buildings and it's man made beauty, but she missed her cousins and she wasn't exactly having a good time fitting in at her new school. She did make friends with a few children in her apartment... but she never really felt as if she truly fit in.
She was eight when it happened. It only socially isolated her even further, when her mom drowned on a trip she went on for a news report. Naturally, Melanie bawled her eyes out when it first happened, but, besides a fear of water, these days she won't show any emotion about it, or react extremely if it's brought up. She won't talk about her mom's death, usually, unless prompted to. It's obvious she hasn't forgotten her though. Melanie wears a piece of her mom's jewelry, a silver chain heart necklace, every day.
It helped her a little when she discovered a cat, which she dubbed Momo, running from a peeved butcher he'd apparently been stealing meat from. After seeing the way she interacted with the cat, smiling just a little and being a bit more boisterous- or at least as boisterous as an eight year old should be- her dad reluctantly let her adopt him, and she has taken care of him til' this day.
It was a few years afterward she showed her first signs of magical ability. She was having a nightmare, dreaming a tsunami was crashing down upon her, as she ran and ran. Melanie longed just get away, be somewhere safe from the danger that was clearly about to swallow her up.
And she woke up curled up in the dryer of the building she lived in, much to the annoyance, and amusement, of her neighbors, who were doing some morning laundry. Thankfully, the dryer wasn't running. A few weeks later she got a letter for Hogwarts, and apologies from her father when he realized that the whole ordeal was an accident, and that her seemingly unbelievable story about just 'appearing there' had been true after all.
She was absolutely thrilled when she got her letter. Melanie got sorted into Hufflepuff House. She's a happy fourth year now.

Personality: Torin loves to socialize and meet new people. He also is rather impulsive, and can do silly things without thinking. But he also can be well behaved and polite. He's mostly just really bad with Reese Upstead, one of his best friends. He is loyal, and tries to be there for his friends, but he hates fighting; if his friends come to blows he will not be in he middle of it. He can be quite the flirt, but also sweet. And when he loves a girl, he really loves her.
Family: Torin has a twin sister named Dani (who is 8 minutes older than him), and a 5 year old sister, Cammy. His mum is a home maker, and his father a lawyer. Both of them being Muggles. He definitely gets along better with his mum than his dad. And he and his sister have a bit of a rivalry, but they still love each other dearly despite their different personalities.
Nate winced as she pinched his cheeks. Then he blushed extremely when she asked if he had gotten married. "I'm only 15 Iris! Gosh!" he whispered back before she moved on to Cadence. Nate was embarrassed about her question. It hadn't been more than a few months to a year that he had seen her.
Nate stepped back as she hugged Cadence. Nate held her hand and smiled at her announcing she was his girlfriend. He liked the sound of that. Nate was getting butterflies in his stomach. He wasn't nervous about Iris or Florida at all. It was what Cadence wanted to happen in Florida he was nervous about. He had never really snog a girl before. Would he hurt her? Would he disgust her? He had no idea!
Fifteen! Fifteen? I swore he was older than that. Iris thought to herself. Who could blame her with everything that had happened to her in her life, she was aging, he memory wasn't what it used to be. And well, her alcohol consumption wasn't helping either.
She wrinkled her eyebrows together, wondering if she had ever given Nate permission to call her Iris. Hardly anyone was allowed to call her by her first name. To mostly everyone it was Miss Fitz Gerald. Even to the neighborhood kids, it was Miss Fitz Gerald.
Speaking of those neighbor kids, they had promised to paint her fence this week before Nate was supposed to arrive. I guess it'll have to wait.

Cadence began to feel Nate's palm get a little sweaty, but she made no sign that she realized it. She didn't mind. Was he nervous about something? Was he planning something for tonight? Cadence had expected them to just be chilling in his grandmother's house for the night, but maybe he had something special in mind? Butterflies started fluttering in her stomach. Were they going to the drive-in tonight? Cadence's heart started beating really fast, and she swallowed hard. However, she didn't let her smile leave her face. Iris needn't know what fantasies were playing inside Cadence's head at the moment.
"Don't worry about it doll!" Iris called behind her as she kept walking towards her car. She stretched her arms above her head for a few seconds and yawned. Nap time...but I want a drink first.
"Hurry up kids." She said impatiently as she climbed carefully into the car. She sat there, already buckled up and car started, waiting for the kids. "Candy, come sit up here doll." She said patting the seat next to her. Surely Nate wouldn't mind if she had Candy sit up front with her. He always got to sit up front when it was just the two of them.
Iris sat there humming to herself as she waited for the kids to get situated so they could leave and head for her house on the Sebastian beach side. She looked in the review mirror and checked her hair once again, just to make sure it was just right. She tousled it with both hands, just to make sure it had that messy look to it.

"I'm sorry Iris. I sent a letter with a school owl. They aren't very reilable especially overseas." he said picking up the bags surrounding them. Nate felt terrible she hadn't known Cadence was coming. Nate followed his grandma to wherever they were going. "Hey Iris? Do you think we could drop you off at the house and drive over to the drive-in movies? Cadence has never been to one before." he said winking at Cadence. The butterflies must have reproduced because his stomach was going crazy.
Nate felt his palm get sweaty as they held hands walking along the sidewalk. He let go of her hand and blushed as he wiped his hand on his jeans. He sort of looked at the ground as he slipped his hand back into hers. He tried to tell himself it was just the heat but he knew it was how nervous he was.

Cadence's eyes widened for a split second. So, Nate WAS planning on taking them to the drive-in to. Cadence tucked her hair nervously behind her ear as her stomach gave a lurching jolt. She was extremely nervous. More nervous than she had ever been in her life. It wasn't scared nervous, though. It was excited nervous. For some reason, she just wanted to giggle. Tucking her already tucked her behind her ear, she just gave Nate an absolutely smitten smile. She had been waiting for this night, but now that it was here, she had absolutely no expectations. She was happy to just be able to be alone with Nate. Then a thought hit her. Drive? Could Nate drive? Was he allowed to do that? She had never been driven around in a car by anyone but an adult. This would be wonderful, but interesting night.
Nate's grandmother began walking toward the car, calling to Nate and Cadence over her shoulder. Cadence felt bad that Nate wouldn't let her carry any of the bags seeing as how most of them were hers. As they approached the car, Iris invited Cadence to sit up front with her, and she gave Nate a nervous look and whispered, "Should I? Is that okay?" Iris was very persistent and in a hurry, it seemed, so she climbed in the front seat with Iris and smiled at her, waiting for Nate to join them. Cadence? I thought it was Candy. It's definitely time for a drink. She turned back to Nate and made sure he was buckled up and looked at Candy to make sure she too had been buckled up.
She started to pull out of the parking stall, happy that she was finally going to be getting to head home so she could finish that book she started yesterday. "No." Iris answered short and sweet as she got on the freeway for their hour journey.
"I've got things planned for us." She told them as she changed lanes. What she had in mind she didn't know, but she'd come up with something by the time they got back home. She continued to hum to herself, wishing that the trip back home would take less time than what it did.

Then she could barely hear Nate whispering to his grandmother about her name, and she felt infinitely appreciative of him for standing up for her, even for something as trivial as her name. When Iris asked her about her hair, Cadence smiled at her and said, "It looks... spunky." That was the honest truth, and she didn't think Iris would mind that description one bit somehow.
Nate asked Iris about the drive-in again as they left the airport, and Cadence held her breath, hoping and praying she would agree. She just wanted to be alone with her Nateypoo whether it was at the drive in movie or just sitting outside somewhere that no one would bother them or judge them. To mask her anxiety to hear the answer, Cady just stared out the window watching the palm trees as they drove. Then her stomach dropped, and she actually got really sad. Iris had said no. She walked up the door and opened it, leaving it open for the kids to bring their things in she went into the kitchen to her...telephone?...to check her messages. Of course there was one from the neighbor kid who was supposed to come over and paint her fence. He left for a day trip with his friends according to his parents.
She got the phone book out and thumbed through. "Christmas trees....trees." Iris repeated as she thumbed her way through the book. Finally she found what she was looking for.
She sighed, waiting for them to join her in the kitchen.

He folded his arms across his chest and pouted. He wanted them to go tonight!

She rubbed her eyes, she had forgotten to put them on when she read that awfully small fine print in the phone book. "Get in her Ignatius!" Iris hollered back. "I want this done before night falls." She added as she wrote the directions underneath the address.
She scooted her body to the back of the seat so her back could rest against the tall backside of the chair. She sighed, she was ready for a hard drink and bed, preferably in that order.

As they pulled up in front of Iris's house, Cadence's jaw practically dropped to the ground. She knew that Nate's grandmother had some money, but she hadn't been expecting this in the slightest. The house was gigantic, colorful, and literally right on the beach. There balconies along the second and third stories, and huge palm trees in the front yard. In the back, there was a large swimming pool complete with water slide and diving board. There were also at least two hot tubs that Cadence could see: one outside and one in a sunroom on the back of the house. When the car came to a stop in the drive, Cadence unfastened her seatbelt and got out. Before she could even offer to help Nate with the bags, he was carrying them all all by himself again. His arms HAD to be getting tired.
They walked in the front door into an enormous, open foyer. There was a staircase their right, but the ceiling was open all the way to the roof. A balcony surrounded the opening on the third and four floors. Huge windows let in the warm Florida sunshine all over the house. It was decorated with bright, cheerful colors, just like a beach house should be. Cadence hadn't even thought about bedrooms until Nate said something. She hoped their rooms were next to each other. And she hoped she had a view of the ocean since she didn't get to see it very often.
As Iris called them into... whatever room it was she was in, Cadence looked at Nate and shrugged. "Maybe she'll let us go to the drive-in after we do whatever it is she needs our help with?" she asked, with a hopeful tone of voice. Unsure of where Nate's grandmother currently was, she just waited for Nate to set the bags down and then grabbed his hand, waiting for him to lead the way like always. She turned around and walked over to the cabinets and pulled two glasses down. Walking over to the...ref-rig-er-at-or...she filled the glasses full with ice. "Sun tea?" she asked as she poured the two glasses and hers as well. She pushed them across the large counter towards them.
"I need you to go and pick out a good tree. Make sure it's a good one, I don't want one that will look funky in the large window that faces the beach. I don't wan the neighbors laughing." she told the two of them. "It's gonna get dark soon, so hurry up and get there and back. I don't want any gilly gabbing around. Straight there, and straight back. Understood?" Iris asked getting serious.

Cadence was taken completely by surprise as Nate trapped her against the wall. Her heart immediately start spending up, and her breath caught in her chest. She looked into his eyes with hint of a twinkle for the brief second before his lips touched hers. Closing her eyes, Cadence allowed the kiss to spread through her entire body. Way too quickly, however, the was ended, and Cadence opened her eyes slowly. A bit dazed, her heart still pounding, she just smiled at Nate. Her breath had literally been taken away.
Still in a bit of a state of shock, she allowed herself to be led into the kitchen with Nate. She smiled at Iris as she entered. And when she offered her tea, Cadence blindly nodded her head, unsure of what she was agreeing to. Normally, she would have been curious what sun tea was, but her brain just kept replaying that kiss over and over, wishing it had lasted longer.
Then her brain turned back on. They were going to pick out a Christmas tree? Where would they possibly find giant Christmas trees in Florida? Apparently, Iris knew of somewhere because they were sending Nadence off on an adventure to retrieve one. Cadence nodded and said, "Yes, ma'am. We'll go straight there and straight back. Nate was so dazed by the kiss he just nodded at his grandma's instructions and took the paper with directions on there. Nate rested his head on Cadence's shoulder with a dazed and distracted look on his face. "We'll go there, find the perfect one, and come back." By then you should be drunk. Nate picked the car keys off the marble counter and waved over his shoulder. They were gonna go and come back. Then leave or maybe go take a midnight swim. It was already 8 o clock.
Nate hopped in the front seat after opening the door for Cadence. He knew where his grandma wanted him to go, Jim's Christmas stand off the highway about a mile or so away. She always went there because they had the cheapest trees that were the best ones.
Nate looked over at Cadence after pulling out of her neighborhood. Nate smiled sweetly at her and placed his warm hand on her thigh and rubbed his thumb across her kneecap as he drove a little over the speed limit.

Nate picked the car keys off the marble counter and waved over his shoulder. They were gonna go and come back. Then leave or maybe go take a midnight swim. It was already 8 o clock.
Nate hopped in the front seat after opening the door for Cadence. He knew where his grandma wanted him to go, Jim's Christmas stand off the highway about a mile or so away. She always went there because they had the cheapest trees that were the best ones.
Nate looked over at Cadence after pulling out of her neighborhood. Nate smiled sweetly at her and placed his warm hand on her thigh and rubbed his thumb across her kneecap as he drove a little over the speed limit.
Iris followed them to the front door "I mean it boy!" she hollered after him. She sighed as he pulled the car out of the driveway. She smiled at Candy, hoping it wasn't a mistake to send both of them off on their own into town by themselves.
She closed the door and walked back towards the kitchen, pausing in front of the living room. She sighed again and walked over towards the cabinet she kept her drinks in. She pulled a bottle out of her favorite sherry and poured a small glass half full. She still had to get through the rest of the evening.

Cadence giggled as she and Nate practically ran out the door and to the car. She reached for the door handle, but Nate beat her to it, and she smiled up at him. "Why, thank you Sir Ignatius!" she said with a twinkle of merriment in her eye. She climbed in the car and put on her seat belt as Nate shut the door. Cadence was a little unsure about how she felt about Nate driving, but he seemed pretty comfortable with the idea. As they started driving, she felt his hand come to rest on her leg and she just smiled at him, her hair blowing in the wind from the open windows. She wished she would have had time to change into her summer clothes before they left. After a few minutes of silence, Cadence began playing with the Muggle radio, turning the dials until she found a station that sounded like it played music she might recognize.
And then a song she definitely recognized came on the radio, and she started singing along, "And every time you smile, I smile, and every time you shine, I'll shine for you. Whoah oh I'm feeling you baby! Don't be afraid to jump then fall, jump then fall into me. Baby, I'm never gonna leave you. Say that you wanna be with me, too. Cuz I'm gonna stay through it all. So jump then fall...." As she sang, she just looked at Nate driving and smiled, remembering the first time they had danced to this song. And now here they were in Florida, driving to a Christmas tree... place to get his grandmother a Christmas tree.

Nate practically started beaming when their song came on. He sang along with her as he looked over and winked at her. She was really good singer. He placed his hand under her thigh right above the knee cap and squeezed quickly in hopes of making her squeal. Nate really wanted to pull over and snog her in the backseat right now but he kept on driving. He drove to the Jim's Christmas trees. "Come on Cady. Let's get the perfect tree!" he said hopping out and carrying her on his back.
He carried her threw the aisles until the found the perfect one. It was 7 feet tall and full of needles that stayed on there when Nate shook the tree. "Like it?" he said poking her leg that was around his waist. He had a surprise when they got home. His mom had gave him a tiny swimsuit for Cadence as a present from his mom. He had packed it for her but never planned on giving it to her.
Cadence giggled loudly when Nate grabbed her leg. "Hey! Watch it mister!" she said teasingly, having not really minded in the slightest. Shortly after, they pulled up outside a Christmas tree stand... in the middle of Florida... Cadence still found this combination extremely odd. Nevertheless, she hopped on Nate's back as he wished, and allowed herself to be carried among the many Christmas trees. Some where tall and skinny with very sparse needle coverage. Others were short and fat and definitely wouldn't look good in his grandmother's window. Then right in the heart of the maze of trees, Cadence spotted the perfect one at the same moment Nate did. It was big and beautiful and absolutely perfect for his grandmother's house. "It's the perfect tree!" she said, in response to Nate's question. She slid off his back and just stared up at it. Then a revelation struck her. "Nate, how are we going to chop it down? We didn't bring, like, an ax or anything. And how are we supposed to get a seven foot tree safely back to your grandmothers?" she said with a giggle. Obviously, were they allowed to, magic would have been the best way to do both, seeing as how that was illegal, though....

"Your so cute I could just eat you up!" he said kissing her square on the mouth. "They have people who come around and cut them down for you. Then another person ties it to your car. And you don't really have to cut them. They aren't from Florida, I think Jim's are from North Carolina." Nate hollered at one of the men. They did everything as Nate had explained to Cadence. After they tied it to the car he handed over the 50 dollar bill for the tree.
Nate drove Cadence home and parked outside the house. Seeing how it was nearly 9:30 he got Iris to levitate the tree inside, making it look like the three of them were carrying it. Nate noticed how drunk Iris was and just chose a room for the two of them.
Cadence simply giggled as she kissed him back. When he pulled away, she teased him, "If you eat me up, then you can't kiss me, and I think we both know you wouldn't want to give up that." She winked at him, and then he began explaining about the tree. She looked up at the towering evergreen inquisitively. Florida was a strange place. She watched curiously as the men took down the tree, without cutting it, and then tied it to the top of his grandmother's car. She watched the money exchange hands. Cadence was unfamiliar with American money, so she had no idea how much it cost to buy a good Christmas tree from North Carolina in Florida. She climbed back in the car, wondering how the tree wouldn't be completely bare by the time they got back to his grandmother's house without using magic. They drove the entire way back in a comfortable, easy silence.
When they arrived, they put on an act for the Muggles as Iris levitated the tree into the house. Cadence couldn't help but wonder how the Muggles didn't realize that an old woman, a tiny teenage girl, and Nate couldn't carry a huge tree inside with just the three of them. Oh well! She watched concernedly as Iris sort of stumbled around, noting the bottle of sherry and the glass on a nearby table. After the tree was in place, Nate ushered her up the stairs to the third floor. At the top of the stairs, they turned right, and Cadence saw two doors side-by-side. Assuming she would stay in one and Nate in the other, she waited for him to tell her which room to go in. Instead, though, he just walked into a room and put all their luggage down.
Cadence just assumed he was going to sort out the luggage and take his two bags to the room next-door. The bedroom was huge and airy. It had hard wood floors and light blue walls. The white bedspread matched the curtains, and the light blue, silk sheets matched the blue of the walls. Cadence walked over to feel the white curtains, and noticed that there wasn't just a window behind them, but a sliding glass door. She pulled back the curtains, and her mouth dropped. Outside of the room there was a huge balcony with a perfect view of the ocean.
She turned back to Nate with a huge smile on her face, noticing that he hadn't done anything at all with any of the luggage, whether his or Cady's. She bit her lip and ran at him. As she jumped on him, she pushed him back onto the bed with a giggle. "I love it here. And I love you," Cadence whispered, just looking deep into his eyes.

Iris woke up with a horrible headache, she sat up too fast and fell back down onto the couch. She sighed, she had hoped that they'd decorate the tree when they got home. "Don't I feel horrible." she muttered out loud as she slowly got up from the couch. She didn't even feed the kids last night before they went to bed.
She put her glasses on, hoping it'd help sooth the headache and looked at the tree that was laying on the floor in her spacious living room. She smiled, they had done a good job picking the right tree out. Momentarily forgetting the tree Iris moved into the kitchen and started a pot of coffee in the muggle contraption. After seeing that everything was set for the coffee to be made she found her way to the staircase. She slowly took each step, making sure she didn't miss one. She did not want to wake the kids up by falling down the staircase.
Once reaching the first landing Iris went to the first door, knocking once she opened it carefully. "Candy, time to get up doll!" she exclaimed walking in and pulling the covers back. She hoped that Candy was a lot more easier to get up versus Nate. She left the room, moving on to wake up Nate, he would take a while to pry out of bed.
Knocking three times, Iris carefully opened the door. "Ignatius! I don't allow sleeping in past eight, you know that." Iris said very loudly as she pulled all of the pillows off the bed. She sat down on the edge of the bed and jumped a few times, waiting for a response.

Nate was stunned as she pushed him onto the bed. He shook his head to clear his thoughts and smiled. "I love you too." he whispered sitting up. "Oh! My mom gave me a present for you. I thought maybe we could go swimming." he said standing up and digging threw his bag. He stood up as he pulled out a small box. He handed it to her as he sat back down on the bed. Inside was a swimsuit that was retro. He watched her open the box. He couldn't wait to go swimming for what had seemed forever.
Cadence smiled brightly when Nate said he loved her. He didn't say that very often, so when he did say it, it meant soooo much to her. As they sat up, Cadence shifted her position a little so that she was sitting in his lap. Before she got settled, though, he was getting up. "Wait, your mother got me a present?" she said with a giggle, a little nervous as to what it could possibly be. "And what does a present from your mother have to do with swimming?" she asked, still laughing. As Nate handed her the box, Cadence figured it was going to be some silly picture frame or something. She opened the box and gasped a little. Pulling out the bathing suit she looked up at Nate, babbling speechlessly for a moment. Finally, she found words, "Nate! Do you KNOW what this is? THIS is a vintage, designer swimsuit! Did your mom really, just, give this to me? This is worth quite a bit of money!" The words just spewed out of her mouth. She jumped up from the bed and ran over the mirror, holding the bathing suit up in front of her. It would look soooo cute on her, but should she accept the gift?

Nate shrugged at her statement question thing. "Sorry love. I have no idea what that means." he said laying back on his hands, laughing a little. "Go put it on in the bathroom and I'll put mine on." he said shuffling her towards the door in the back of the room. He dug threw his bag and found a pair of olive green swim trunks and pulled them on. He knocked on the door he had ushered her into and whispered, "Can you grab two towels from the closet? We have to sneak down the fire escape, by the way." Nate opened the door out to the balcony and sat on the ledge waiting for her to reveal her cute little swimsuit. Nate was excited to see her in it.
Cadence rolled her eyes jokingly at Nate's lack of fashion knowledge. He was such a boy! But she loved that about him. As he pushed her into the bathroom, she laughed and said, "Okay, okay! I'm going!" Standing in the huge bathroom, Cadence noticed there was a door on the other side of it. Getting a little curious, she opened it and revealed a room almost identical to the one she had just vacated. "Hm.." Cadence shrugged and closed the door again and began changing into her bathing suit and thinking. She still couldn't believe that she was here in Florida with Nate. It was so surreal to her! And she had lied to her grandmother about it, too! Though Nate didn't know about that. It was her last little secret between her and Tyler probably for, well, forever. Tyler and Cadence had both changed a lot in the few short months they had been at Hogwarts.
Looking in the mirror, Cadence began messing with her hair. The glint of her ring caught her eye and she simply smiled at it, remembering the day Nate had given it to her. It seemed like that was years ago. Cadence and Nate had come a long way since then. Nate was a lot different here than he was at school. He seemed a lot more relaxed and more... grown-up. At school, Cadence had done a lot of dragging him around, but now Nate was making the decisions and carrying her bags and opening doors for her and telling her that he loves her without any hesitation. All of this made her feel like she was falling in love with Nate all over again. She just wanted to spend time with him in any way possible. And she wasn't entirely sure she'd want to go back to school when the time came. Cadence loved being here with him and was beginning to understand why Nate preferred Florida to England.
The sound of the balcony door opening made her jump a little and brought her back to reality. After performing one more hair check, she opened two different closets in the bathroom before finding the towels. "Who needs three closets in a bathroom?" she said quietly to herself. Walking out of the bathroom, she didn't see Nate, but noticed the curtains blowing in the breeze. It must have been Nate who went out on to the balcony. Walking towards the open door, she felt the warm Florida breeze blow her hair lightly. She walked over to where he sat on the railing. Putting the towels down in the chair, she then stepped as close as possible to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Cadence simply looked into his eyes for a minute before kissing him slowly.
When the kiss broke, she said, "What's a fire escape?"

Nate smiled a little as she came out of the bathroom. He had heard her mumble something about three bathrooms that had made him giggle. He leaped off the balcony just after she kissed him. He decided tonight would be the night he would kiss her. Well, really kiss her. Nate smiled and pointed towards the small white ladder coming off the balcony down the side of the house leading to the back porch.
He climbed down the fire escape before Cadence. He was prepared to catch her if she fell. "Come on, I'll catch you if you fall." he said holding his arms out. He placed his hands a few inches from her holding them there the entire time she climbed down.
He picked her up and carried her quietly to the hot tub. He slid onto the edge and set her on the edge. He motioned the 'Shhhh.' finger thing as he slowly climbed into it. He pressed a button and the water slowly came out in bubbles. He slid closer to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
