| | |  The Amazing Race : Wizarding Style
Synopsis: Groups of contestants compete in pairs on a worldwide trip to be the first to cross the finish line. Along the way, there will be magical challenges to complete before the team can move along to the next location. There are no eliminations but points will be awarded in order of finishing for each leg of the trip. The team with the highest score will take home a prize of 10,000 galleons! Do you have what it takes to win the race?
OOC: You may use any character you have for this RPed competition, current or newly created, as long as they are at least 18 years of age. Your character may play with a partner if you have one in mind, or they can be set up with one if you do not have a partner. Please post at least a brief bio of your character, including who their partner is along with username, or indicate if you need a partner that we can assign to you. We’ll get started shortly once we have enough people playing! This competition will take place during one week in IC July 2093.

The seven teams of chosen contestants have been requested to meet at Diagon Alley inside the Leaky Cauldron which has been closed to the public just to facilitate the beginning of this event. Here they will be greeted by their host, Antonio Benson, who is waiting for the contestants in the center of the room. “Greetings and salutations!” He exclaimed as the fourteen witches and wizards make their way into the Inn. “I hope you’re all ready to embark on the trip of a lifetime! Over the next six days, you will be traveling to different parts of the world where you and your partner will work together to complete tasks and overcome challenges to be the first to cross the finish line. Each team will earn points based on their completion of the challenge and their order of finish. The team with the highest cumulative total will win a prize of 10,000 galleons!” Wasn’t that exciting? He sure thought so. “Our first stop is Giza, Egypt! But to get there, you will first need a portkey. In this room there are seven portkeys hidden throughout. And although they may be hidden, it shouldn’t be too hard to find them. It’ll be rather obvious that they don’t belong here.” After all, most portkeys looked like broken and discarded muggle items. “They are charmed so that they will take you to Giza only when both partners are touching the portkey. Now…..if anyone has any questions, please ask them now. Otherwise, find your portkeys and head to Egypt!” And then he’d meet them there with their first real challenge.

The Leaky Cauldron. She supposed there could have been worse places to begin this adventure but the Italian had to admit she had been hoping for something a bit more exciting. Although there was also something to be said about starting off on a homey note. Although homey feelings made her think of Stella back in her flat and wondering if Eli-bean would be alright.
She was depending on Mr. Carrots to keep her happy and distracted - assuming the long list of wedding to-do's was not enough.
Standing in matching tracksuits with her arms wrapped around Nigel's waist and head resting against his chest, Gaia Valenti became insufferably giddy when their host and unofficial tour guide to the globe began speaking. "Oooooh Egypt," she cooed while looking up at the wrock star. "Maybe you'll get to show me your skills at cursebreaking." The galleon prize was nice, but it was not the reason for her asking him about participating with her. As a spokesmodel, she really had no need for additional income and should her and Nigel win would donate her share to the Oceanic Preservation Society.
Bouncing in place, she did not need told twice to begin their search. Grinning eagerly, Gaia unwrapped her arms from around Nigel and grabbed his hand. "Andiamo!"
And then in the next instant she was tugging the boyfriend and bolting towards the bar where surely a portkey was hidden behind.

They were there at the Leaky Cauldron and Levi was on alert. He might look bored standing there while listening to Antonio but his keen mind was ready for action. He always loved a good challenge. He glanced at Arielle upon hearing their destination. Egypt! He liked the place. Too bad there wouldn't be time for sightseeing.

Bouncing in place, she did not need told twice to begin their search. Grinning eagerly, Gaia unwrapped her arms from around Nigel and grabbed his hand. "Andiamo!"
And then in the next instant she was tugging the boyfriend and bolting towards the bar where surely a portkey was hidden behind. Its kind of funny how every trip its seems starts in the Cauldron. Nigel remember a school trip years and years ago that started in this place and they portkeyed there and it seems like its the same here but only they had the extra set up having to did the thing. ANYWAY he looked amazing in this tracksuit and ready to go back to Egypt apparently. Nigel smiled down at Gaia.
"Doubt that will come into play here. But Giza is nice. I like Cairo better but we can see the pyramids"
Oh right there was prize money. Yeah he didn't care. Doubt they would win anyway considering he felt this more a vacation than anything else. But he would let Gaia decided if they even won. Nigel spoke about three languages and well Italian was not one of them. But from the pulling and her excitement. Well looked like they should get started.

All he saw was things he wanted to drink.

Arielle was just all action, and wasn't impressed by any delay on starting off the competition. Also she wasn't a huge fan of The Leaky Cauldron, so there was that. With a look of mild disgust she thought about holding a piece of rubbish in her hands, but at least said rubbish would be taking her to Egypt with Levi in order to kick start things. That, and actually FINDING one was a challenge in itself and she did enjoy challenges.
About to suggest the bar, another pair beat them to it.
Drat.
Biting her lip, Arielle looked around further, and within seconds had made up her mind. "Let's start searching the booths." There was surely to be at least one of those hinding among the tables. | |

Zeph stood next to Austin in the Leaky Cauldron... It had been a long trip to London and he was still a smidge groggy having only woken up in their hostile a half hour before having to show up here for the start of the contest..
" Egypt, Aus... Can ya believe it?!", he exclaimed. Seriously.. Without his girlfriend's brother Zephyr wouldn't have the chance to win half of 10,000 galleons... And yes he knows that it's 5,000... It just sounds more dramatic said the first way,
now doesn't it?
" Do ya see any portkeys?", he added as he started to scan the room at large for anything that could be a portkey.

Albert had been adamant to join the well-advertised Wizarding Race. However, his wife had her ways and knew exactly what buttons to push for him to finally say yes to it. Besides, his only son Aramis just graduated from secondary school with, hopefully, flying colours. Albert had been quiet, careful not to ask any questions about Aramis' next steps, or whether or not he'd been accepted to university for further education. These were important questions of course, but the father dragon decided not to pry on his son, given that he's of age and could very well think for himself.
Perhaps, Antheia knew what exactly was going on inside Albert's mind. She knew her husband well enough...and maybe, the Race was exactly what his two boys needed. It was definitely not for the money, but for the opportunity for them to properly bond before the baby dragon decides to leave his parents' nest for good.
Albert pursed his lips at the thought, suppressing the unwarranted emotion of separation anxiety. He'd been through a lot over the years, but he felt like he wasn't prepared for what was to come. He'd already let go of his eldest child, Arabella...and soon, it would be Aramis' turn. Merlin, he really was getting old.
The man entered the establishment with Aramis behind him and darted his way over to the bar to order two glasses of gillyweed water. As he drank, he offered the other glass to Aramis, and kept his attention on the man up front. Giza, Galleons, Portkey, Yadda Yadda Yadda. He'd trust Aramis to get all the details down because he'd rather busy himself conserving energy. He was old, and probably still unfit to participate in the race, but he was there...ready to take on the challenges with his boy. "Found anything out of the ordinary, son?" he asked, raising a brow at him, while he too searched with his peripheral view. Was that a grimy toilet seat?
Merlin and all things sacred to wizardkind have mercy. A clear health hazard inside a restaurant. Really.

Max thought this could be fun, the other teams there probably didn't know much about him but compared to his day to day this race seemed like a walk in the park.
He turned to Min "Something that doesn't belong?" He though the lost and found maybe? Portkeys often looked like muggle objects, broken ones.
Things like that could be anywhere, but this was a game. "You check the lost and found and i'll look in the dining room." Cause why not take charge? Did he think Minerva would listen to him? No.. But whatever.
He began to look under tables and chairs, in nooks and crannies. All the wile listening to what the other teams were saying. Knowing a little more about them could go a long way.

Aramis wasn't going to deny it any longer, he wasn't fully sure why he was here. They certainly didn't need the money, though if they won perhaps it could help him out with university?
Aramis was hoping though that he could spend more time with his Father though before Uni, he had expressed that to his mother not two weeks ago and next thing he knew, he was here. He had been so happy when he had gotten accepted to the University, based in London to be close to his family, and hopefully Dylan when she figured out what she was going to do. And he had seen the pride in his mother's eyes when he told her what he had decided to do.
Magiczooology with an emphasis on Dragonology. He was trying to follow in his fathers footsteps, but he hadn't had a chance to tell him yet.
The tall boy followed his father over to the Bar, and took the Gillyweed water that was handed to him. His dark green eyes were on the announcer as he sipped his drink, taking careful note of every word he said. Find a portkey and get to Egypt! Simple enough, yeah?
He stared to look around, people were already searching the bars and the booths, so he moved to look at the tables, peering under them in an attempt to find something out of the ordinary..
"Nothing yet Dad, you?" The boy responded as he crouched to check under more tables. Hmm gum free, that was good to know, but nothing resembling a portkey.. | |

Couldn't they have picked a nicer place for them all to meet besides this place? Aus shifted from foot to foot, his blue eyes drifting onto those of his partner. "Dude you look dead on your feet man, come on,
perk up a bit and remember why we're standing here." There had been some displeasure with Zephyr dating his baby sister but they had squared that all away and were doing this as something of a bonding experience and whatnot.
Egypt. Whoa. "We can do this. Anywhere we end up we just have to keep out heads and not panic." Easier said then done. As for a Portkey...no, no he didn't see any just yet. "Nah, let's get looking though." Like their host said it could be anything anywhere in this place.
Austin turned on his heel making his way to the left corner of the room. He was going to start over here and look at every single inch of this room for anything that didn't fit. How hard could it be to find something that didn't belong? A muggle item that didn't at all fit in.
