The term has ended and now you’re stuck with two months of summer stretching before you. Freedom from essays, from potions, from star gazing. Now you can stay up late and go to bed early. You’re away from all the Professors who are crazy in love with each other and now it’s all about what YOU want to do. Or rather… what your parents let you do. School’s out for summer!

This takes place after Term 10 in the SS School RP. The term has ended so this is a way to play out the summer longer than available in Diagon Alley, and as a way for the graduated students to have a place to play. This is invite only, so if you haven’t been asked to come in, chances are you can’t join. If you have an idea for any characters that should be invited back, let me know and I’ll consider them. I can’t think of everyone, after all.

Naturally, the Rules follow SS Rules and you still have to use literacy (a major pet peeve of mine, really) We follow the School Plot, but I’m sure the most of you will be able to handle that. Anyone invited who plays a shop keeper or a helper will play them in here (as long as you wish of course) and if anyone would like to fill an empty spot, please do let me know.

Not once while Jamie spoke did Celestina look up. No matter what he said, she was ashamed. She knew Jamie was just being nice. Just being her friend. Bucky knew she could be so annoying at times and seem hostile most of the time. It was something she had to work on but wasn't doing a very good job of it.

Then she felt it. Not Jamie's touch but that pang in the pit of her stomach. What was it called? Guilt? And without realizing she burst into tears. First she tried stopping them with the palm of her hands but soon she started sobbing. Guilty, embarassed and feeling completely horrible she threw her arms around Jamie and sobbed uncontrollably.

"I'm s-s-so sorry. I can't--This is sooo em-baaa-rassiiing!" She cried hoping that something large and heavy would fall on her right now.

OCC: O.o um...I dunno. *stares at Bucky*

Jamie felt Bucky move to press her hands to her eyes and he glanced up to see the tears. He felt the familiar feeling all boys encountered around tears; icy and numb and the impossibility to think. And the tears turned to sobs and arms fell around Jamie and he felt suddenly confused and scared.

So he did what he knew was required, what his Mummy always did, and wrapped his arms (a bit awkardly mind) around Bucky. He pat her gently, one hand on the back of her head, smoothing her hair soothingly. He wasn't sure what to say though, and his mouth felt filled of cotton, thick, his tongue heavy and immobile.

"It's okay," he whispered to her hair. "Don't feel bad. You don't need to feel bad. You really don't. I'm not mad at you Bucky. I can't be mad at you, you know that." He wasn't sure what to say to make the tears stop, he didn't want her to melt in embarassment or anything.

Bucky looked up, her eyes wide.

"That's not what I'm crying about!" She said in a half-sob, looking absolutely incredulous. "This is so humiliating."

And with that last comment, she abruptly untangled herself from Jamie and covered her face with her hands. Just what was going on? Is this what her father had called hormones? It was worse than he had described them and they had arrived far sooner than she had ever expected. This was a catastrophe. Her reputation was going down hill all because of a mood swing.

"Jamie please don't start liking girls," she pleaded grabbing his shoulders.

The day Jamie begun liking girls was the day Bucky would jump into the lake.

Jamie stared down at Bucky, eyes wide with surprise. What was she going on about now? He glanced down at his shoulders where her hands were firmly planted, before looking back to her face. He opened his mouth once, twice, as though testing it.

Speech was coming thick.

"What do you mean?" he asked. "Cooties remember? Cooties! Of course I won't like girls, it's so dangerous. I could get cooties and die! Or pass them on to you!"

Of course Bucky knew Jamie couldn't like girls. He was sure hse knew. So why was she so worried about it all of a sudden? A churning feeling met his lower abdoment, his chest feeling tight and light all the same. What in the world was she on about?

As Jamie spoke, Bucky shook him making sure that his words were true and honest. She stared at him for a few seconds making sure to decipher his looks correctly. Fear. He reeked of it. Good, she thought.

"Oh Thank Merlin!" She declared and grabbed his face. "Don't you ever like girls," she added and finished it off by kissing his forehead.

She later then glanced down at her plate, feeling ravenous after such a massive mood swing.

"Hey, who's been eating my french toast?"

If anything in his life had been most confusing, this had to be the moment. After being shook a bit, Jamie gaped at his friend, curls mussed up and over his eyes. His mouth even managed to drop open when she grabbed his face. His whole body tensed and turned numb. That was it. He was throwing out that French Toast and was going to have a talk with Chef. What was he doing?

And then she kissed his forehead. Jamie blinked, and sat stiff, eyes wide and mouth still slightly open. If Bucky wasn't cootie free right about now he'd be screaming and flailing and running around doing a mass cootie shot. Except... he couldn't even think properly at the moment.

Where was his Bucky? This Bucky was... not his. WHAT WAS CHEF DOING TO THE FOOD?!

Bucky's demand about the French Toast brought Jamie to reality. Without thinking, he dived across the table, landing on two plates of french toast, Maddi's included. "DON'T EAT IT!" he howled dramatically.

As if Bucky wasn't embarassed enough by everything that Jamie had to throw himself on the table and quite loudly too.

"Just what do you think you're doing?" She shouted, her pale face quickly turning red. "Get off from that table!"

Shrieking out of frustration, Celestina wrapped her delicate fingers around Jamie's ankles and began to pull him off the table.

Jamie instinctivly began kicking his ankles a bit, trying to shake Bucky off, but he was still being pulled off the table. Once pulled far enough, he literally fell off the table, sticky french toast sticking to his chest and pants. He looked up through his curls, cheeks flushed pink.

"I..." he began. "I was saving you from the toast..." He looked down shamefully at the ground, realizing the scene he'd just made. But he was saving them! Saving them from mortal humiliation and crazy madness in the mind.

Holding on to Jamie's ankles, Bucky dodges his kicks determined to drag him off the table and save them from further humilation. Things were going from strange to extremely strange. This must certainly be the fault of hormones.

"Saving me from the toast?' Bucky repeated, looking utterly confused. "Sometimes really do think you're not even human."

"Yes!" Jamie said, his face screwed up with determination. "The toast! It's the only logical explaination for why you went so un-Bucky and began acting odd and why my stomach felt so tight and weird. And it explains why you got scared of me liking girls, cos the toast is messing with your mind"

If Jamie had stopped to listen to himself, he'd have realized how crazy he sounded. However, Jamie did not have an omnipotent self and was reduced to mumbling while sticking to the floor.

Celestina shook her head, her short auburn hair moving as much as it could with it's lenght. She didn't really understand much about what Jamie was talking. All the toast talk was eluding her but she did get the point of him thinking she was acting unlike herself and to be honest, she was but then again that's why she was blaming the hormones.

"Jamie," she said. "Have you ever heard about something called puberty?"

She hoped he hadn't for she didn't want to be the one to inform him about it and just what did he mean about his stomach feeling tight?

"Your tummy hurts?" Celestina asked, worried that the boy would throw up any second now and took several steps back.

Jamie gave Bucky a look. The kind of look that said what in the world are you talking about. "I'm not going through puberty!" he cried. "Mummy told me! All boys have weird moments in life. And my voice isn't changing and I'm not-" He cut himself off before he said anything weird about hair as he was about to. But luckily, Jamie's mind worked better than he did.

"No..." he said. "It doesn't really hurt... just... it felt tight and airy and a lot of weird stuff earlier. But it's better now."

"Alright! Alright!" Celestina declared, slightly alarmed. "No need to get all excited. It was just an honest question. One day you'll start liking girls and--and..."

She couldn't quite finish her sentence. The thought of Jamie going on dates with girls and--Merlin, forbid, kissing would send her stomach in knots and it wasn't a pleasant feeling. She stared at him as he described the problems he was having with his own stomach and gave it up for fear...probably.

"As long as you don't throw up on me--"

"I won't throw up," Jamie said, shaking his head. "I don't feel sick or anything. Just... it was weird." He dismissed the conversation with a brandishing of his hand and stood up from the floor, strings of syrup following. "Ewww," he moaned. "I'm sticky. And dirty. This is... ewww."

Celestina tutted and reached for the nearest stack of napkins. She shook her head disapprovingly at Jamie and sighed.

"It's your own fault you're all filthy," she said, pouting and attempting to wipe away the excess syrup. "I think you might need to get an adult to clean you up or something, Jamie. I really doubt these napkins are any help."

She stopped rubbing him seeing that the only thing she was managing was to get bits of paper napkin stuck to his clothes and skin which were covered in syrup.

"I'm a syrup monster," Jamie pouted. "I'm a syrup monster covered by napkin. I look like a bird." He looked down over himself and cringed. "Where'd Ashlie go?"

The boy looked around and realized Ashlie was nowhere to be seen. Just... up and vanished. And... where had that Jacques gone? DID HE RUN OFF WITH ASHLIE? WHAT IF HE WAS GOING TO COOTIFY HER?!

"Bucky!" he gasped suddenly, grabbing her arms. "Ashlie's gone. I THINK JACQUES IS TRYING TO GIVE HER COOTIES!"

Celestina looked around for that amusing girl. She frowned when she didn't see her and turned to face Jamie as he went on one of his excited rants once more. The boy was always jumping to dramatic conclusions which usually made no sense.

"Oi, Jamie," she said calmly rubbing her head, eyes closed. "Has it occurred to you that maybe Ashlie enjoys being cootified?"

This caught Jamie's breath and he fell silent, eyes wide and mouth open. "Bucky!" he gasped. "How can you SAY such a thing? Why would Ashlie enjoy something so... so... dangerous and... disgusting and.... Now I feel sick."

He sunk down to the floor, shaking his head. "No. No, she just can't. Why would anyone enjoy that?"

Bucky took a deep sigh. Hadn't his mommy told him all about puberty.

"Well you know, there's a time in every girls' life when they wake up and go 'hey boys aren't so yucky after all' and they start wearing makeup and they think boys are cute and they write those annoying little letters that say 'Do you like me? Circle yes or no," Informed Celestina pretending to write on thin air.

"And then they go out with boys on dates and become girlfriend and boyfriend and hold hands and...and..kiss," she finished off wrinkling her nose.

She sighed again and rubbed her head. This was just too much emotions to take at once and her mood swing was giving her a major headache.

"Like I said. Puberty."

Jamie's face blanched until nearly all color seemed drained of his face. "You're lying, right?" he croaked. "You must be. Because that's just... horrifying. And... how don't they get killed? The coooooties! Do they stop affecting when you get older? Do you think that's what Ashlie's doing? Kissing on that boy? Gross how can she do that?"

He shook his head hard, curls bouncing and flipping around. That was insane. He couldn't even imagine himself kissing with a girl. Ewww. So gross! And make up and letters and so much mushy yucky-ness.

"You won't do that, will you?" Jamie asked, looking up, eyes wide with horror. No. Bucky wasn't allowed to. He wouldn't let her. He'd blindfold her, whatever he could to prevent such a scandalous act. "You wouldn't kiss a boy would you? On the lips and... oh ewwww!"

No. Not his Bucky.

Celestina rubbed the back of her neck. This was more tedious than she had thought.

"You know," she said, thinking about the cooties and what her father had told her. "Daddy says there is no such things as cooties and that it is all in our heads but I suppose that once you reach puberty you gain a sort of immunity."

She blinked and sighed. She had done it again. Bucky often used words normal twelve year olds wouldn't but it was to be expected of a girl whose only companions in her childhood were books and adults.

"I don't know if she's kissing him or not but it's a possibility. I heard that it's a very popular activity among older children," she added with a frown, finding this quite hard to believe.

Her eyes grew wide when Jamie began to ask her about what she would do and if she would never like boys. Unlike Jamie, Celestina knew that it was something you couldn't quite control and although she would have liked to never like boys. The idea of kissing one wasn't yet very appealing to her but she didn't discard it completely. If many people enjoyed it couldn't possible be that bad, now could it?

"Um--," she said trying to buy time and wondering what to tell him. "You do know it gets worse, right?"

She wondered if she should explain to him about the birds and the bees but seeing as he couldn't handle the fact of kissing she discarded that topic for perhaps next year.

"I dunno if I would kiss a boy Jamie," she said frowning and tapping her lips thoughtfully. "Would you kiss a girl?"

It gets worse? How could it get worse? Jamie shook his head numbly and sank back to the ground. This wasn't very good, he decided. Why didn't things just stay this way? Easy. No kissing and snogging and all that dirty dangerous stuff. And it got worse?

And to his horror, Bucky couldn't even decline the idea of kissing a boy. How could she? The very idea made his stomach clench again in that tight and light feeling. This wasn't his Bucky. She was changing on him and without him.

"No!" Jamie cried. "How could you even ask me that?" He tried to picture him kissing a girl, but it all went down and he felt a lurch in his stomach. Urgh! Bucky couldn't honestly want to go through with that. "Bucky. You know the cooties are real! You know that boys are icky. And you know how dangerous it'd be to snog one. We can't like girls and boys Bucky. We just can't."

Sighing, she sat next to Jamie, on top of all the sticky syrup and what not. She should have known Jamie wasn't going to take this easily. There was only one thing she could do to end this drama.

"Of course not," she said making a face. "Boys are yucky. I don't want cooties. It would be the worse!"

Although she made a disgusted face and even took the liberty of seperating herself a few inches from Jamie as if the idea of being near a boy was appalling, inwardly, she smiled.

What he doesn't know, won't hurt him, she thought and hoped this settled the matter.

Jamie giggled at his friend and grinned at her. "Good," he declared. "We should make a pact or something. I would be real upset if you liked a boy. It wouldn't be the same, anyway, would it?" Unfotunately, Jamie wasn't exactly ready to drop the subject. "You wouldn't hang out with me much, if you got a boyfriend, would you?"

Just like Ashlie wasn't around much. He hoped Jacques wasn't her boyfriend. Ashlie would never have time for him anymore. She'd always hang around him. Was that going to happen to Bucky and Jamie? Was he going to be left by himself if she ever started dating a boy?

He made a face of disgust. That certainly wasn't on the agenda.

"A pact?" Bucky repeated, easily panicking.

She couldn't make such a pact. Celestina knew that eventually she would have to break that or worse, Jamie would end up breaking it before she ever got the chance.

"Well--I dunno. I've never had a boyfriend. That boyfriend business is just a mystery," she added with a nod hoping anything would happen at the moment.

A fire. Someone falling down the roof. Anything to distract Jamie from such an awkward topic. This was not what she had in mind for this summer. Not at all.
