Chris felt Lena pull back from his arms and he locked his jaw fighting the tears back again. He couldn't cry infront of her again. He won't. At her words he just nodded slowly though he was looking down at their hands as she was holding them. "Please wait until the morning. Where the hell would you be able to go until then anyways? I will help get you to the airport if that's where you are going or where ever." He said forgetting where he actually need to be. Forgetting he need to be writting. None of that mattered all that mattered was Lena was leaving and now they were no longer together.....He couldn't let her go with out say goodbye to her he couldn't let her leave tonight.....

Helena couldn't take her eyes from Chris's face, despite the fact that he was now looking at their hands. If her heart hadn't been broken before, it definitely was now at his expression. After a moment, she nodded slowly; it wouldn't be fair for her to leave like this, either, no matter how much wrong she'd done to him. Okay, she said quietly, finally looking down - not at anything in particular.... just down.

"Thank you." Chris somehow was able to say....Sighhhh this wasn't what he wanted to have happen. But obviously it was going to happen if he wanted it to or not. His mind was racing but somehow he remember about that song! Damn song...."I got to go call Mike or Danny or someone." He said in quiet voice though he looked back at Lena she wasn't looking at him. He slowly slipped his hand from her hand and moving her head to face him. All of a sudden he placed a quick kiss on her lips. It was different from the kisses before because he knew that Lena was no longer his girlfriend.

Helena was still looking down when Chris said he needed to call Mike or Danny; it didn't occur to her that this might actually be a real reason he needed to leave - she figured he just wanted to get away from her. That's fine, she said quietly, she looked up when he took his hands from hers and made her look at him once more. She didn't expect the quick kiss, but she knew it didn't mean much; it was more of a goodbye kiss than anything. She knew he was just about to go. She would have apologized again if she didn't know it would produce the same result as before.... awww, screw it - what else could she say? I'm sorry, she said once more, still kneeling on the ground.

Chris stood up as he pulled back from the kiss. It just didn't feel right anymore. As Lena said sorry once more he shrugged slightly. He wanted to say he loved her and this happen and people change but no words could be formed. He just gulped. "I will be in my room if you need me." He whispered before walking back out of the room into the living room.

Once in his own room Chris shut the door behind him and sat down on the floor his knees close to his chest. He soon dissolved into tears. It was so unlike him but it was all he could do. His biggest fear had come true he had lost Lena and now he would probably just end up being lonely for his whole life. His crying was silent but none the less hard.

Lena nodded and looked down once more, just letting him walk out. A few minutes after he went, Helena stood up and shut the door. She then managed to get back over to her bed where she collapsed once more and dissolved into tears once more, trying to be quiet about it but not working very well. She was somewhat quiet - not loud enough for Chris to hear her, but still not silent.

Chris at least calm himself down enough to stop crying as he dug into his pocket trying to find his cell phone. He looked at the time it was around nine. He wanted to call his mom so bad right now. He wanted to be home in his bed but that just wasn't happening as it was four in the morning at home. He should finish the song but he couldn't make his brain work right now. He opened the phone and hit speed dial number 4.

Chris explained to Danny that he just couldn't finish what he had started and everything and soon told him he wouldn't be able to go to the recording studio tomorrow. Thankfully Danny understood though he was upset now he had to come up with something.

After hanging up Chris did feel bad. He stood up though and walked over to his closet and found the box his was looking for. His 'Melinda box'. He saw her picture and smiled slightly though it was quickly gone he found the snitch necklace and picked it up. "What now Mel?" He asked softly. He had picked up this habit of everytime he was upset he would talk to Melinda...

Along with a picture and the necklace, the many filled memory glass bottles were slightly flashing due to the effect of the present owner touching it. It felt its pressence, it knew how well connected this could be to the guy. It was always needed in the situation of desperate need to talk.

To get to know the connection between the bottles and the necklace, you could guess that as soon as it heard the voice of the guy, a small bottle was standing by itself, ready to be revealed. It came out to be that day, when they saw each other for the first time after Melinda had left the school, when again love could be seen, when they thought there was still a chance to be together although the distance. And at the end, "I'll always be here for you..." was at the end, with Melly stroking Chris's cheek followed by a hug.

Ohhhh noooo! Not that bottle again! These things always creeped him out! Chris gulped tears spilling back over his cheeks. Could he actually see the memory? Should he see the memory? He wasn't sure but there was only one way to find out. His hand shaking he picked up the small glass bottle with care. He walked over to his pensive took the top off the bottle and poured it intot he pensive.

Soon the memory was around him. They were in his kitchen at home??? Ohh noo! This was that summer that they had seen each other after Melinda had left right??? He watched himself and Mel listening to her words the tears just came down faster. He could feel the touch to his cheek and then that hug. How he longed just to have her in his arms once more....

Immediately after that memory, another one came. They were in his room, talking about his future plans, like going to New York and taking care of the band. Soon, Melinda was on his bed, once again facing Chris and not letting go of the mutual eyesight. She looked so happy of being there, with him and knowing things would be alright, for then.

The memory changed again. Chris had calmed down. But he found himself in his room at the house. He looked around this is where he wished he was right now. Not in New York. He looked at the bed when he heard his and Melinda's voice. They were talking about the future and how Mel wanted to come to New York with him. He couldn't smile though he just stood there watching them his arms folded across his chest. That day was the day he knew Melinda was dying.But he also knew that he wanted to marry her. Though that feeling was gone the day Melinda had died, because he knew that would never happen. His mind when back to Lena. God how could this have happened? He felt more tears coming down just at the thought of both girls. How he loved them both but he would never be with them.......

There was no way Helena was falling asleep after that, but it wasn't too long at least until Lena had cried herself out. She continued to lay face-down against her tear-soaked pillow, one cheek pressed into it while she watched the minutes tick by on the digital clock beside her bed. She didn't understand any of this - if Melinda hadn't died in the first place, Chris would probably (though Lena didn't want to admit it) be married to her, and Lena would have never started dating him right after she kissed Blake. She wanted so badly to be with him that moment.... but she knew that she couldn't go back to Blake now. It wasn't fair to him, and he wasn't waiting for her. Showing him how much of a wreck she was after her and Chris's break-up wouldn't be any consolation to her. No, Lena would be flying solo from then on. She didn't want to hurt anybody else.

The little chat about death, and upcoming plans for Melinda was now showing. Yes, it was the day she had to tell Chris about the few years she had left to live, and the day she proposed to him. Wow...it was a crazy way to start things, but Chris was right after all, they were too young for such compromise. Upsetting moments, followed by a few calmed words changed the scenario, and Melinda was there again sitting besides Chris and telling him everything would be alright, and no matter what happened to that relationship, breaking up, staying together or her, dying after all would change what she felt, because she was always going to be there for him.

And those memory bottles were the proof of that.

A few kisses followed, then a goodbye, since Melinda had to be back in Paris that day. The memory ended, and faded away.

This was just to much for Chris....way to much. First he had just broken up with Lena and his heart was just broken into a millon pieces. Then he was going to miss out on being at the recording studio tomorrow. Noooow he was looking at these old memories of Melinda. When she had asked him to marry him Chris's heart skipped a beat. He wanted to yell yes and he loved her and all that. But he won't do any good she was dead....

Once the kisses and good byes were over Chris was once more in his room. He looked around almost crying again. He couldn't stay in this room by himself. He quickly went to the door and walked straight for the kitchen. He went and opened he freezer and took out chocolate ice cream. He grabbed a spoon and took off the lid and just ate it out of there. It didn't make him feel any better but it gave him something to do.

He kept taking quick glances at Lena's door. He wanted to make sure she was semi-okay. He walked over to her door and knock. "You mind if I come in?" He asked quietly as he took another bit of ice cream.

Lena looked up as she heard a knock on the door. She clicked on the lamp beside her bed, changing it from almost pitch-black to relatively well lit in just a few seconds. Upon hearing Chris's voice again, a tear came out of each of Lena's red eyes and she quickly wiped them away before saying, Of course not. Come in, in as strong a voice as she could manage.

Hearing Lena's answer Chris opened the door and walked into the room. He looked at her and her eyes were red, probably just like his own. He sat down on the floor towards the end of his bed taking yet another bite of ice cream. Just because he could. "You know what??? This sucks." He whispered.

Lena's eyes met Chris's, seeing the same redness that her own probably held at that moment, but she didn't say anything, even as he chose to sit on the floor with his.... ice cream?? She laid back down - this time in the opposite direction - so that her head was near Chris's and she could see him. At his word, she took in a small-but-deep breath and nodded once. I know, she whispered back.

Chris flicked out his wand and soon the ice cream was back in the freezer that's how bad he felt he thought he was hungry but he wasn't!!! He just couldn't eat.....sigh. He rested his arms on his knees and his head back on the bed. "What makes it worse is I just saw one of those damn memories of Melinda." He mumbled under his breath as he kept his wand out playing with it as he spun it between his fingers.

Lena was watching each of Chris's movements without really seeing them, but when he finally spoke, she stiffened a moment; honestly, what did he expect her to say right then? Sorry? Oh, she said finally after a moment. That.... that sucks, she finished with a sigh, shaking her head at her lack of tact, though she was being perfectly honest.

Okaay Chris didn't know what he wanted Helena to say at that moment. He was just trying to make conversation..."This is awkward." He finally said quietly. "I don't want this to be awkward. If we can't be together, I still want you as a friend. But maybe I should just leave you alone this just doesn't seem right at the moment..." He knew this was all confusing but this is how he felt.....But what was he suppose to do just pretend Lena wasn't in the room right next to him. Just ignore that fact she was still in his aparment???

Of course. Chris said 'if we can't be together' like she had chosen this. Really? C'mon, really?? I don't want it to be awkward either - and I'm not trying to make it awkward, I just don't know what you want me to say, Lena said sitting back up and looking away again for a moment. She should have just left when she was going to; this was just torture. She couldn't look at him, she couldn't have a conversation with him - nothing. It was all pain.

Ohhh right it was Chris who pretty much 'caused this. Soooo this was all his fault. He was such an idiot sometimes!!! But that fact that Lena loved anyother guy had been eating him away for a longgggg time now! "I'm sorry." He said looking down at the ground. "I just don't want you hating me. And really know that I do love you but it's just to hard..." He said taking a deep breath that wasn't the only reason though....

"There's something I didn't tell you...Something I thought we were going to talk about tomorrow when I found this out for sure....See if RCA records like us they want us moving to L.A as soon as we can. Sooo probably by next week. This is just showing that I actually have no idea where I will be tomorrow...My father has been right the whole time. 'You can't be a musican and have a family. It's just to hard'." Chris said hoping Lena would understand this was hard on him. But it would have been worse on the two of them if Chris was moving from place to place not know where he would end up in a months time....Not have a set home. The more and more he looked at music the more it seemed to cause him pain....

Lena's eyes threatened to fill again - holy crap she was such a baby! - but she fought the tears back and actually one. She looked over at Chris once more as he finished and shook her head slightly. I do know that. I always have.... and Chris, I really don't blame you - believe me on that. This was inevitable, as bad as it sounds. It was just going to happen no matter what. Though something tugged at Helena as he said 'family'. It wasn't really anything she'd thought about before, and she definitely wasn't going to start thinking about it in light of recent events.

Inevitable???? Is this what Lena really thought of their relationship. That there was no way in hell this was going to last??? "But why don't you blame me? This whole thing is my fault. If I had a normal job and lived in like London we won't most likely be in this mess." Chris said still sofly. Why won't she hate him! This is his fault!!! "Hate me. Why is it you don't hate me. I just screwed everything up." He could feel some more tears running down his face. Crap! He was such a sissy today!!!

Lena shook her head quickly at Chris's first few statements and said, No, Chris, you're passion for your music is one of the many things I love about you, and if you gave that up, I know you wouldn't be the same person--- She stopped as he continued and she saw fresh tears grace his cheeks. Unfortunately, more of her own came out as Lena saw this. She gently put her hand to his cheek and wiped them away. I could never hate you, she whispered. As upset as she was, that was true.
