Overview:
Ryder Jude Anders and Evan Nam were slowly building a solid friendship. Though they had been acquainted with each other at Hogwarts for Jude’s first and second years, it was only during the summer of 2105 that they bonded for a bit. With Jude entering his third year and Evan, entering his fourth, only time will tell what adventures await the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.
Scenes 1 to 3 can be found here. These were completed prior to the cyber attack on Snitchseeker. Scene 4: comprised of letters between Davet and Jude subsequent to Jude's heartbreak. {Unfortunately, these were not saved in the web archives. Scene 5: On the first day of the summer of 2108 holiday break, Davet came over to visit Jude. They shared their first kiss with Jude asking Davet to be his boyfriend. Scene 6: It’s the summer of 2109 and Jude attempts to teach Davet the Waltz. Scene 7: December 2109 arrives along with a Hogsmeade weekend. This is the first time in months that Jude is able to meet with Evan. Scene 8: Christmas 2109; a time in which Jude goes home for the break and has something to tell Davet. Scene 9: Springtime, 2111; in which best friends are reunited post Hogwarts for general shenanigans.
The french boy almost wished boyfriend had remained pouty, so that he had even more excuses to sneak in more kisses - but his thoughts were aligned with Jude on that. There would be plenty of time later. "Good, I'm glad." He grinned back at him. Davet wasn't in any type of a hurry for a longer commitment. They were together now, they were both young, and he was just happy to have this time with Jude now. Did he want to see it end? Absolutely not, but he knew there was a chance of that at any time and he had known that going into it. As long as at the end of everything, they could still be friends - he'd be fine.
Free pass on missteps? "Excellent. I'll obviously need it." He grinned, returning the quick kiss before chuckling. "I can also happily concede spot as favorite student for Keighley." Who he still owed ice cream, though from what he gathered she was rather busy as of late. Eventually.
"You adapt quickly or you get passed up for the role in my world." He chuckled, smiling back at the praise. The eyebrow waggle got another laugh too, and he spontaneously spun them so HE was the one able to see Jude in the mirror. "I think you were looking at the wrong guy." But then his attention went back to his feet, focusing on the steps he was supposed to actually be learning. "Okay, so step back and left." He processed the words for a moment, before giving a small decisive nod that he thought he understood and giving it a go. Moving his feet to the supposed spots, he glanced down only to see if he had moved the left out far enough - though it appeared to be a little too short. "They need to be a little farther apart still don't they?"

There would be many more instances that Jude would be playfully pouting at Davet. Therefore, there would be many more opportunities to sneak in kisses. And when Jude figured out that he got kisses in return for pouts… well, let’s just say that he’d go about pouting on purpose. Davet truly was the most amazing person he’d ever met. What sane person would be willing to be romantically involved with someone knowing fully well that their feelings were all over the place?
“For now you will. Who knows… maybe these dancing practices will come in useful for a role.” Jude was still touting that Davet would end up being one of the most famous actors ever, and Reagan would be one of the most famous actresses. He was also secretly hoping that the boyfriend and sister continued to act together because they both were great together. “You’re nice enough to concede to just about anyone,’’ Jude lightly teased. Davet’s compassion was one of the reasons he was so well liked.
That was a good point. “Anyone who passes over you is stupid.” Even as the words left his mouth, it hit him that they could apply to him in the future. Jude wasn’t known for being stupid so hopefully he’d make the sensible decision. His thoughts were interrupted by the sudden movements. When he realised what had happened, Jude laughed his signature quiet laugh. “Nope! Pretty sure I’ll spend my summer looking at the right guy!” That was a fact! Jude liked watching Davet’s face but it certainly was a mighty treat to watch him figure the instructions that were just given. All the while he continued to watch, there was a small smile playing on his own face, though his gaze did move to Davet’s feet soon after. “A little farther,” Jude admitted. “But this is a good start.” Balancing on his right foot, he used his left to nudge at Davet’s right, directing the other boy’s foot outward a tad.
Jude said amazing, and yet many others probably would have said 'crazy' was a more apt description. Still. Davet didn't for a moment regret his choice, especially not in the moments such as this.
Actually, he was betting on dancing practice eventually coming in handy for roles - particularly as he expanded from live theater to potential on screen one day. Not that he was in any hurry to do that, but still it was always good to expand his resume. And getting to practice with Jude was just icing on the cake as well. "I'll make sure to credit you when I later accept awards for my amazing dance performance." He teased. As for working with Reagan? He'd like to continue acting with her as well. Who didn't have a better time when hanging out with their best friend, even in a professional setting? Another laugh and a shrug of his thin shoulders. "You might have a point there." But... there was probably some things he wouldn't concede to anyone over.
Unless specifically asked to.
The words of confidence in him were met with a bright smile from the french boy, a soft chuckle escaping him. "Thank you. I'm sure there are some roles I'm not suited for but... I appreciate the words anyways." He didn't even consider what could have been a second meaning to the words, instead focusing once more on their current dancing position. Well... doing his best to anyways, because that laugh was really cute and Jude's words actually had him blushing a bit. Relaxing his leg a bit so Jude could adjust - he took note of where the foot was now and committed it to memory. "What's next?"
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
POTENTIAL on screen?
Right.
It was DEFINITE, okay, Davet? Jude believed this as much as he believed Reagan was going to be super famous - which was belief with all of his heart. There was an amused laugh from him. “Deal! I teach you, you win the awards!” He’d happily watch Davet collect all the awards, truthfully, and not care about being credited. Mhmmm, the other boy and Reagan could continue their on screen romances. Merlin knew Jude got a kick out of watching the sister and boyfriend kiss that one time for a play.
Maybe it was Jude being his usual positive self but he just couldn’t rest easily if anyone passed up on Davet. He wasn’t going to lie though… the way Davet accepted it - with such grace - was very admirable. “Someone’s blushing,’’ Jude remarked, and just because he couldn’t help himself since Dav looked ADORABLE, Jude planted a kiss on his cheek. “The last bit’s probably the easiest: bring your left foot to your right so that they touch.” He did the actions but with his right foot. “If it’s still confusing, we can always watch a couple of YouTube videos later.” Really, Jude wouldn’t mind. It just made him happy that Davet was willing to learn this. “Or while we grab lunch.”
Technically nothing was ever a DEFINITE a yet his boyfriend's blind faith, and best friend for that matter considering he knew Reagan would have said similarly, were endlessly appreciated. And gave him all the warm fuzzies for two amazing individuals to care so much for him. "Sounds like a match made in theater heaven." He chuckled, grinning back at Jude. The kissing Reagan had been both strange and not. Strange in the sense that technically he could now say he had kissed two Anders, which was odd, but not strange in the way they were both professionals and knew on screen kisses were nothing more than what the role required. Though he did have to say, they certainly had a leg up when it came to acting opposite each other in such roles. It was easy for a strong platonic relationship to be seen as chemistry for a romantic one, even though there was no chance of that.
His grace was a trait he'd learned from his maman. She'd always reminded him that not everyone was suited for every role and while it was okay to be disappointed to not get something, it was never okay to not celebrate someone else's success. It was a lesson she'd taught him early and while it had been difficult to get over his disappointments quickly as a child, he'd gotten better at it - and now it was just second nature. He could feel the heat to his cheeks but he hadn't realized he'd actually turned red until Jude commented on it - though it got him an additional kiss anyways so one would not hear him complaining. Left foot to right did sound easy and yet... as he tried, he nearly stumbled. With a laugh at his mistake he looked from his feet again, up to Jude. Youtube videos sounded promising - what couldn't someone learn from the internet? And while he wanted to remain close to his boyfriend, the mention of lunch sent a loud grumble from the boy's stomach and he laughed again. "I think maybe videos and lunch might be helpful. Should we go grab some food and then pick this up later?" He reluctantly let go of Jude, moving to steadily collect his and his boyfriend's belongings.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Of course he and Reagan cared a ton for Davet; Dav was important to them both, Jude knew this much, and they’d always be there encouraging him. He agreed very much on the topic of Dav and Rea acting together. Anyone who saw those two together were bound to admit they were dynamite! And even when the time came when his boyfriend would end up having to kiss another male on screen, Jude was wise enough to keep in mind that it was all acting. That and the fact that Davet liked him in a way that he didn’t like other guys.
Jude had much to be thankful to Davet’s maman then. Firstly for gracing the planet with her son, then for being so supportive of him and Davet’s relationship and for the grace and other positive traits he had inherited from her. If Davet had stumbled, Jude would have caught him; he needed worry when Jude was around. He would grin, much like he was doing right now but that was only because the other boy was laughing. “Wait a minute. Is that your stomach, Dav?” And then he too was laughing. This settled it! He was going to treat Davet to a HUGE lunch! “It’s a great plan,’’ Jude agreed. They hadn’t planned much for the day but he was about to ask Davet if he had made other plans. Why? Because Jude really wanted to spend the entire day with him. While Dav had gone to get their things, Jude swapped out the current shirt he was wearing {since this was one he would use for his practices} for the one he had arrived at the studio in. “All set?” His hand was held out but not for his belongings - it was for his boyfriend's hand.
Scene 7:
December 2109 arrives along with a Hogsmeade weekend. This is the first time in months that Jude is able to meet with Evan.
Characters:
Evan Nam (Chelliephone)
Jude Anders (FearlessLeader19)
The Hufflepuff honestly could NOT wait to see Evan! Gosh, had it really been so many months already? He wanted to hear all about Evan’s adventures and maybe hopefully see a few pictures. Jude didn’t forget about his feat that perhaps Evan had met some new people and decided that they would be a better best friend. Or worst had finally found someone he was romantically interested in.
“Not going to think about now,’’ he mumbled as he levitated two plates of slices of Shepherd’s Pie and two mugs of steaming hot cocoa with extra marshmallows in both. The boys had planned to meet at The Three Broomsticks, as they usually would have done while at Hogwarts. Jude selected one of the booths and after resting their food down, flopped down to wait on Evan. There were many of his friends milling about {Jude nearly laughed out loud at Nova and Kennedy. Honestly, he never saw his cousin get as feisty with anyone as much as she did Kennedy Potter} but he just waved at them distractedly. His eyes were much too focused on the door. Evan would be able to spot him immediately because Jude was wearing his signature rainbow bauble beanie.
Having thought he spotted the youngest Nam on the street, Evan had gotten a little distracted on his way to the Three Broomsticks but once it was confirmed to not be Lees, he turned quickly and made his way back towards his and Jude's meeting place, pushing his way through the door and instantly spotting the familiar beanie. A smile stretched across his face and he slid into the opposite side of the booth from Jude - nudging his foot with his as he did so in quiet greeting. "Hey, stranger. How's it going?"
None of the things Jude had been concerned about had come to pass. He had met more people, sure, and he and Sera perhaps had a better friendship than they did before, but that still didn't mean there was any replacement of the Anders male. And this whole year of finding himself, did not include finding any type of romantic partner - despite the urging of his brother. Glancing at the table and spotting he'd already ordered for them, Evan gave a fond smile, "Thanks for grabbing food already. I don't think I realized how much I missed the Three Broomsticks shepherd pie until I could smell it." Maybe not as good as Jude's family recipe, but still yummy.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jude saw him the moment he stalked through the door and a couple of things hit the Hufflepuff at once: the way he missed Evan more than he had realised; Evan's look: as handsome and as adorable as ever {Jude’s feelings for the other boy clearly had not faded despite him hoping that they would during the time apart} and finally, possibly the most stunning revelation - he had felt this same wave of affection and love for someone else. In fact, he could pinpoint the exact moment he had first felt it. It was over the previous summer when he and Davet had been trying out that waltz together. And then suddenly Jude knew. The year apart had indeed worked but not in the way he expected and hoped because he realised he was in love with both Evan and Davet. This really stunned and threw him off his game; he found himself thinking of Keighley. Is this how she felt having romantic feelings for two persons at once? Her case was a tad different in the way that both loved her back whereas one romantically was interested in him, the other had stubbornly stuck him in the friendzone. But the fact remained:
He was IN LOVE with that Muggle boy too. That messy haired, kind and selfless future famous actor.
Oh Merlin! Did Jude tell Davet? Or was it wrong since he still loved Evan? Emotions. They were going to be the death of this empath.
Jude sat there stunned and lost in his jumbled, frazzled thoughts. There was a smile frozen on his face and he was pretty sure his gaze had been following his best friend in a blank manner. It was the nudge that jolted him back to reality. Once upon a time, he would have hoped that the nudge was more than just a friendly gesture but not at the moment. Jude cleared his throat and rolled his eyes playfully. “I’m not the one who hopped on a boat for a grand tour,’’ he joked. “Hi, you! I have missed your constant presence in my life.” It was true. The Hufflepuff had grown SO used to Evan by his side at Hogwarts that he was still attempting to adjust without it. “Are you having a great time? You need to tell me all about it! And about you, of course. Are you taking care of yourself? Not being hard on yourself for not figuring things out as yet right? DID you figure anything out though?” Jude wanted to know it ALL!!
He paused a bit, his mind going back to his early moment of epiphany. Just… HOW was he going to deal with this?? First of all, he hadn’t been sure his attraction to Davet would have developed into love, even though they had been dating for a year and a half now. Heck, he already struggled with dating him and still thinking of Evan romantically. It felt as though he were cheating on Davet whenever that happened.
Why was Jude’s love life so complicated?
One thing was sure though: he needed to talk this out with Keighley ASAP. Who else would understand this situation he found himself in? After all, it was yet another thing the two youngest Anders’ had in common.
Jude wanted to ask Evan about his new friendships and potential love interests but truthfully? Cowardice overpowered him so much that he swallowed the questions. They settled unpleasantly somewhere in the pit his stomach and now he was forced to nurse the feeling of them there, as though they were waiting to be vomited up. How was it possible that Jude could feel so many things all at once, things that could leave anyone emotionally drained, and yet have the strength to hide it all so well?
His heart skipped a beat as Evan’s smile, and he found himself comparing it to Davet’s. Needless to say, the memory of his boyfriend’s also did skippy things to his heart. Oh, boy. What a precarious situation he had found himself in. “No problem! I figured you’d be hungry.” Now they could eat together after months! “Pretty sure they have loads more Shepherd’s Pie where these came from so I hope you’ve got a huge appetite!” Jude began to break a small piece of his own slice with the fork, nudging Evan’s foot, mirroring the other guy’s action from earlier. “Did you miss Hogwarts, Ev?”
The somewhat blank look on Jude's face did not go unnoticed by the Ravenclaw, and while an eyebrow quirked slightly, he chose to not ask anything right off the bat - deciding if it was anything on the other boy's mind that he wanted to discuss - he would not hesitate in bringing it up with him. Which was why smile was back in place and eyebrow as well by the time he'd nudged Jude and the Hufflepuff seemed to have rejoined him at the table.
The greeting and onslaught of questions brought a chuckle from the Nam, and he took a sip of water glass at the table while he waited for all of them to be voiced before he began to reply. "It's not that grand of a tour. We've been pretty lazy about it, if anything." Which was how he preferred. He supposed it hadn't occurred to him how stressful all the school years had been and how welcome a break was. "I've missed you too. How are things at Hogwarts? From reports it seems... tame." Which was maybe more suspicious. "It's been a lot of fun though. Sera is good company, we hang out when we want to but also have no problem just doing our own thing and leaving the other alone." Perfect balance with a traveling companion. "I'm doing good though - staying healthy. And I haven't put much thought on what's next yet. Only more recently am I beating myself up a bit but... don't worry, it's nothing like OWL year." He grinned, another sip of water being taken.
But now, he was all too looking forward to digging into the food in front of him - so he reached out to pick up his fork and twirled it in his long fingers for a moment. "Almost always. And I'm glad to hear they'll have a lot." Because he might be able to eat a lot. Place it gave more excuse for them to be able to just sit here for longer. He used his fork to pick up a bite too, not eating until after he answered the next question. "I miss people. You, my sisters. But... no, I don't miss Hogwarts." While he'd gotten over a lot of his anger and negative emotions towards the school, it still wasn't a place he relished being. The rest of the world and the more freedom it awarded was far more welcomed. "How's your family? Reagan enjoying being graduated?"
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Yes, if Jude wanted to talk to Evan about anything, he would. They always had that sort of relationship but with this realisation? No, he needed to process first. It wasn’t just that, however: Jude had long ago made up his mind not to bother Evan about the feelings he had for the other boy again. Sure, anyone would be able to tell based on how Jude looked at him; everyone would see it but Evan because well… Evan was Evan.
The Hufflepuff was going to listen to all of Evan’s adventures and try not to be jealous of Sera having all that time with the bestie. “Being lazy is good! I mean, after seven years of Hogwarts, anyone deserves that.” He couldn’t help but grin and feel super pleased that Evan had missed him. It helped to clear his insecurities a bit. “Tame is the right word. No sphinx, no weird plants or anything else. Thank Merlin!” He was trying not to be suspicious like Evan was and focus on the lack of happenings as a positive sign. Once again, there was the slightest hint of jealousy in him about Sera but it was pushed away. A jealous person was NOT who he was, thank you very much! “She was great company then. It really sounds as though you both made the right decision of heading out together.” On account of Evan figuring things out, the sole reason Jude was slightly concerned was because he knew how Evan could be in terms of beating himself up. The seventh year wanted no repeat of that sort of thing. “That’s alright. It’s not as though you HAVE to figure it out within a year.” If Evan took three years, five years, whatever, then Jude would still think he was one of the greatest persons in the world.
“Mhmm! I might get myself another piece.” At least Jude could eat as much as he wanted without having to worry about putting on weight. “I get that. It’s certain moments and the people you miss. I suspect if Hogwarts was far less dangerous, you’d miss it. I miss partnering with you in lessons, by the way.” Jude pointed his fork in mock accusation. “Who gave you the right to graduate without me, Evan Nam?’’ There was another grin before he took a bite of his favourite. “Everyone’s doing well! Mom and dad do ask about you often. Reagan’s off living her best life! I suspect she’s enjoying helping Ko pick his outfits and doing his hair and seeing performances live and direct. At least I’m temporarily free of her big mouth.”
Evan was Evan, and perhaps his name should have been synonymous with the word 'oblivious' - at the very least most of the time time.
When Jude was graduated they could certainly have their own adventures as well. There was some time before he started school again, though Ev supposed he would be anxious to spend more time with his boyfriend and Keighley before she returned to school without him come the fall. Siblings going back after graduation was possibly the hardest part of the transition to adulthood. A soft snort as he took a bite of his food. "You have a good point. I'd say we all certainly deserve breaks." Wizarding school was rough with all it's dangers. "I'm glad this term sounds like a little bit of a break for the Hogwarts students as well." Still seemed too good to be true but... As long as it did remain true, the former Ravenclaw was glad that just meant there wasn't a ton of reasons to be nervous for the people he'd had to leave behind. For the time being. Sera was pretty good company and he was glad she'd asked to join him. It was perhaps the help of not full isolation that kept him from being too hard on himself. "Yeah, it's been a lot of fun. She definitely pushed me occasionally to also do things outside of my comfort zone, but that's been true since school days." Even if they hadn't hung out a whole lot. While it was certainly true he didn't HAVE to have decisions made within the year, it was the deadline he'd given himself and he kind of liked to have those. Just... Floating aimlessly for more than a year would have him far too lost. "I suppose but... I'd like to be doing something by fall. I have a few back up ideas so if I can't figure out what sounds the best... I might just.. go for something."
He would always be a vocal enabler about shepherd's pie, except for perhaps in this moment considering his mouth was too full with the rather large bite he had just helped himself too, so this time he settled for a thumbs up. "Maybe. Probably. There's still just complicated feelings for me associated with the school, even if I've dealt with a lot of it. Not being in the halls though has certainly lowered the nightmares." only lowered, considering they sometimes still surfaced when he spent time with Noah. "Please, I couldn't have been that good of a partner." he replied, though he was a bit pleased too his own presence was also missed. He laughed at that and gave a small shrug. "Should have tried harder to tank my NEWTs I suppose." he teased, a sip of his water too. It was sweet the Anders cared to inquire after him too, and he smiled fondly at that piece of information before chuckling at Reagan's news too. "Hopefully Koen is having just as much fun with that." Although the eldest Anders gave him the vibe he absolutely would. "Have you and she already had your WADA auditions or do you have a date scheduled already?"
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jude secretly hoped the duo would have their own adventures. It had never been mentioned out loud on his part because… well, he didn’t know exactly why. It just seemed like he constantly made Evan hang out with him and maybe Evan wanted to do other things with other people. “It was a chillaxing half of the year for both of us, I’d say.” The latter half of 2109, that is. “Up until this moment, I hadn’t considered just how calm it was.” There was a genuine smile from him. “It’s nice to have those friends in your corner who push you to do stuff that’ll benefit you.” And no, he wasn’t speaking of himself. Was it bad that he wanted to just take a break now for a little while from being that person who pushed Evan in the right direction? As much as he didn’t regret constantly being there, it had been exhausting on him from seeing Evan suffer so much. “You can always switch when you find out what you really want to do,” the Hufflepuff mused after taking a swig of his beverage. “What options are you thinking about right now, if any?”
Jude couldn’t say he was sorry then that Evan had graduated, if this meant his best friend was doing a whole lot better. “Putting the environment behind you that messed with you in the first place is possibly the healthiest way of healing. I really am happy that you’re doing better,’’ came the added latter bit in extra earnest. “You remain the best partner, aside from Keigh,'’ Jude remarked with a hearty chuckle and an exaggerated but playful roll of his eyes. “Maaaybe! If you had, you know I wouldn’t have complained.” He stuck his tongue out. As for Ko and Rea… “Oh, I’m not sure Ko had that much fun. I heard so many tales of Rea wanting… no, demanding to paint his nails in ridiculously bright colours every other day.” His poor brother! “We both have auditions set during the Easter break. We’re confident that we’ll get in but still… I’m feeling nervous already.” Jude tilted his head a bit. “It’s the first time I’ve admitted to that out loud. At least if I flunk the auditions, I’ll teaching kids dancing to fall back on.’’ Cue a wry smile.
Evan was certain they would at some point or another, whenever worked best for Jude's school schedule - considering Evan was already sure he was going to be the far busier of the pair of them. "It certainly sounds like it. I like that for us." Hopefully the trend continued. They'd had more than enough of their share of chaos. He supposed it was nice to have those friends - and from what he could gather it seemed he was one who also pushed Sera to perhaps consider what was next in more detail. He'd certainly done his best to make her study with him - but he'd done that too with the entirety of their class. "No one is as good as a Jude in that regard, but you're right." Which he meant only as a compliment, and not a statement of reliance - which he hope it did not come off as the latter. Another sip of his water as he considering his top options, only responding once he'd swallowed and set the glass back down. "I've considered trying to get an apprenticeship at a tattoo parlour in Diagon Alley." Which as much fun as that sounded, he was certain that he had the skills to keep up. "Or I could just... start taking classes and apply for the ministry and see where that takes me. I've been considering maybe History too though as a major, maybe teach one day." He wasn't married to any of the ideas but he supposed now that he'd said them out loud, there was one he liked over the others.
He was relieved to be doing a lot better too. There was a lot of resentment and bittnerness that he had realized he'd still been holding onto, and being out on the water with few things to do other than deal with his own thoughts - had made him notice them and effectively deal with them. Overall, he felt much more like a whole person than what he'd been at school. "I easily concede the title to Keighley. How's she doing too? Her boyfriend transferred to Hogwarts this year, didn't he?" The news of Reagan's antics was the least surprising thing in the world too him, and if her brother indulged her that would be even less surprising. The Anders were a tight family, and if there was something one could do to please the other (within reason), he could easily see them doing it. Brightly colored nails and all. "I'm sure you'll do amazingly well. The nerves are just manifesting because of how much you want this. But you've been mastering your craft for years. Just don't forget that in the pre-anxiety and I'm sure they'll pass you both easily."
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jude couldn’t deny that: he’d definitely be the busier one but that only made him more determined to find the best, if not perfect, balance between his school/career life and his relationships. “I like it too! A lot of liking that is because I knew I didn’t have to worry about you.” He was just at peace knowing that Evan was off having a good time. Even if it made him uneasy about being replaced. But the uneasiness was for himself, not for Evan and though that was just as bad… well, he’d rather Evan just be happy and unbothered. The compliment made him smile, happiness overtaking the tinge of sadness that was always lurking beneath the surface when Evan was around. “That makes me so thrilled! You know I’ve always got your back,’’ he said enthusiastically, still quite getting used to the fact that his bestie dished out compliments at intervals. Jude listened to Evan’s options, his own interest piquing with each. “Would that mean I could have discounts on tattoos?” he asked, smiling innocently. Not that Jude had any tattoo ideas in mind at the moment. “I like your options. I think that teaching would be a great choice, just a sling as you don’t end up teaching at Hogwarts.” Jude tilted his head. “Doesn’t the Ministry of Magic require Historians to study and provide information on runes and artefacts? Or is that Gringotts?”
The Hufflepuff chuckled, reminded of Davet at Evan’s words: the two important young men in his life definitely knew how special Keighley was to him. “He did. I’ve watched Keigh splitting her time between Charlie and Olivia, and I have to say that she’s doing well at it. I’m proud of her. I mean, I still can’t wrap my head about how complicated it must be to have two relationships at the same time.” Romantic relationships he meant. This is one of the reasons Jude knew he could always confide in Evan. There was no judgement, there was no worry that Evan would belittle his fears. “I really do. I’ve been practicing every day even though Rea graduated. Keigh, Bella and Davet’s cousin, Mouse, have been helping me.” He was especially grateful to Bella because she hated dancing but still went out of her way to help him practice. “I will keep that in mind. And your reassuring face as well whenever I feel that way, Ev.” Not wanting to make his friend feel uncomfortable, he dug back into the last of the Shepherd’s Pie. But it was true: Evan and the firm friendship they shared was a big help in his life.
Evan could not say he did not still worry, because he definitely did considering Hogwarts was still... Hogwarts. But he was relieved that all his worries had been unnecessary and just learned paranoia on his part. Plus he supposed the worrying had been less considering how capable he knew all of his people to be. Next year was really when he knew he'd be in a panic, considering Maya was nearly out the door as well and there would only be one remaining Nam. Well... at least until their next generation, which honestly he could not even begin to consider for his own sanity sake. "I do know you always have my back. And I hope you still know I have yours." If it would make him feel any better, it seemed everyone was still trying to get used to his ability to say some of his feelings more efficiently than he used to. He was fairly certain his Appa cried in their last discussion, although perhaps for anyone who knew Alexander Nam that wouldn't be a surprise. "Well... I think it depends on the tattoo parlor. If it's one where I could eventually be an independent contractor renting space from an owner, absolutely. Though there is also always the free version of tattoos - garage tattoos." He knew Jude was joking, and yet he couldn't help himself from being informative as well. Though... the last part was certainly a joke - considering if he DID go the tattoo artist route he would never do anything unless in the most sanitary place possible. "Being back at Hogwarts would certainly be strange. I doubt that would be in my cards." Would he even apply if there was an opening? Not something he needed to think on he supposed. "Your guess is better than mine. If I'm honest, I don't know much about the magical jobs offered." He'd never researched much into it. Which of course could mean he was secretly missing out on his calling but... he would take that chance.
Considering it was hard for Evan to imagine even one, the fact that Keighley could juggle too and do it so seemingly effortlessly was very impressive to Evan. Of course he knew it was not effortless, as he was sure there was plenty of scheduling to ensure both parties were happy but... she seemed to be doing a great job of managing all of that. "That must be difficult, but I imagine she's still just glad to have him around." At least... he assumed, knowing Keighley and how fondly she spoke of him. The mention of Davet's cousin got a curious eyebrow raise from him as he took another bite. "Davet is a no-maj, isn't he?" Did that mean he knew about magic if he had family in it? That would certainly be a relief for Jude, he imagined. He smiled back at Jude, not feeling uncomfortable at all and just giving a nod of his head. "Good. Whatever helps get you through the nerves." And then it would be behind him and Jude would truly be on his way towards achieving his career goals. It was an exciting time, wasn't it?

Jude couldn’t at all blame Evan for the paranoia, and anyone who knew what he had gone through would side with him. But the boys could panic together since they both had sisters who were going to be left behind. Truthfully, Jude would have rather any further ill scenarios happen while he was at the School; that way he could have kept an eye on Keigh, Lisa and Maya. “I do know,’’ Jude replied with a grateful smile. Evan did not know the level of happiness he felt right now from the reassurance, and how much he appreciated his best friend. As for all that tattoo information, he listened to all the words. It was hard to picture Evan going down the Garage Tattoo route and he knew that aspect was a joke. “Either way, I hope your drawing skills have improved.” Jude smirked but he knew very well that this was exactly what had happened; Evan had devoted quite a bit of time getting better at art. He didn’t see Evan teaching at Hogwarts either. At least not for the very near future. The Hufflepuff reckoned that revisiting that environment would be triggering. “I can ask a few professors, if you like. And I do have some family working at the Ministry too.
“She is. She’s still over the moon about it. I imagine that a long distance relationship is difficult.” He had struggled with not seeing Davet for a few months so he could only imagine how difficult it was dating someone thousands of miles away. Speaking of Dav… “Yes, he is; his cousin moved from France recently. But he doesn’t know about the wizarding world though I was considering letting him know about it… what do you think, Ev?” Your opinion always mattered, Evan! There was a smile from him, one mixed with fondness for the bestie and relief because his comment hadn’t been met with any sort of negative reaction. Truely, Evan had come a long way with being able to talk about certain topics.
At least from his own sisters now, it boiled down to only one of them being at Hogwarts any longer after this term. Which was an odd thought, that the Nam's were nearly all graduated. At Jude's acknowledgment that he did know Evan would always support him as well, he gave his friend another small smile before a mouthful of shepherd's pie once again was spooned in. The former Ravenclaw knew Jude was messing with him, and yet because he figured his friend would like to see anyways, he stood slightly in order to pull a small black sketchbook from his pocket and sliding it across the table. "I wouldn't say I'm going to be the next great artist, but I've been trying a lot more." He liked art even if he had not had the natural talent others did. "I probably still shouldn't actually be drawing permanently on people's skin though." Did magical tattoos have any easier way of removal? As for the offer to talk to individuals who'd already navigated finding themselves a job? "That'd be brilliant, actually. If you don't mind."
Long distance anything seemed hard, but a romantic relationship did sound like it would be the worst. "I'm glad then they're together now." Physical close and all. Even if that also made things a lot crazier for Keighley to have to keep juggling keeping both of her partners happy. The question of telling Davet about Jude's magical side had him raising an eyebrow a bit, but not from judgement just surprise. It was a difficult conversation or idea to navigate - and he remembered Ash's worries about it as well back when she and Theodore were still involved. "Well.. I don't know what the magical laws around that statute are, but I would say if you will not be penalized for telling him - you should tell him. If you guys are getting serious, the longer you keep such a big part of yourself from him the more hurt he might be later." Though Evan could also admit his own opinion probably came from bias and the residual resentment he still sometimes felt for Noah not telling him about magic for five years.

What a pleasant surprise!
Evan had brought his sketchpad along! Jude beamed as he momentarily abandoned his food to flip open the book. There was no time studying the illustrations there. They genuinely brought a happy smile to his face. “As someone who has been around since you’ve been working on your drawings, I can say with all the certainty in the world that you have improved,’’ Jude commended in his best grown up voice as though he were complimenting someone turning in their work for the prestigious position of an illustrator. Colour Jude impressed, bestie! He laughed as he turned the page, though it was not directed at the pages. “Maybe after a tad more practice?” One day maybe, Evan, one day maybe. “Of course I don’t mind. I’ll get the info to you before you head back out on the water. Or at least I hope? How long are you staying for? On land I mean, King Triton.’’
Jude nodded. He was beyond thrilled for Keigh as well; all he wanted was for her to be the happiest because she deserved it. “I don’t think telling him will be an issue. It might be actually doing magic in front of him. I’m not sure though… I mean, I don’t see what’s the issue with that if he knows I can do magic? But I keep thinking of Harry Potter getting in trouble for doing magic before his cousin who already knew he was a wizard. So… kind of a tricky situation.”
He figured Jude would enjoy seeing the things he'd been working on, so grabbing it had been a conscious decision. And despite his comfort with Jude, he was still nervous showing anyone what he'd been working on. Another couple large forkfuls of his food to distract himself from overanalyzing any type of reaction, instead choosing to just trust whatever was shared verbally. Lifting a hand to cover over his mouth when Jude spoke, trying to finish a perhaps too large bite, he swallowed and then moved his hand again in order to smile. "Thanks. I've been trying." The tone in which he'd used his compliment was amusing and Evan gave a small chuckle to show as much. "I think I should probably just leave it with those who have natural talent. Like Ash." She could do it if she wanted, but he wasn't sure that was something she'd considered for a career. She had her path. "Thanks!" It was truly appreciated. And as for how long he'd be on land? "No firm plans. I think probably through Christmas and the New Year." He was hoping to spend both with Noah and his family.
Hearing Jude's primary concern, Evan thought for a moment - taking a moment to take a drink of his butterbeer before responding. "I think you have to consider the events of the time surrounding when Harry Potter was reprimanded for that. No one really had a problem with him doing that, it was just an excuse to put a young boy on trial for voicing political opinions they didn't agree with. I mean... they excused him for accidentally casting magic on a muggle in front of his cousin AND his aunt and uncle in his third year." He had a hard time seeing Minister Hollingberry being so petty. "I think as long as you haven't personally offended the Minister, you'll be okay." A joke, hopefully to ease his nerves over the whole idea.

Jude would be torn about Evan being nervous about sharing his drawings. On one hand, nerves can be good since it showed one really cared about something in particular but Jude would firmly remind Evan that it was a waste of time being nervous around him since there wasn’t anything that Evan could do that would make Jude think less about him, even if it was bad drawings. In this case it was no such thing. At the moment, Jude was too observed in the drawings to notice his friend overstuffing his mouth with food. Indeed it was clear that Evan had tried! “If you like, but there was definitely no harm in improving! At least you can say you’re a few steps up from drawing stick figures!” Which was a lot more than what Jude could say about himself. “That’s more than enough time for me.” Yep, getting that info was his number one priority over the holidays! {Or so he thought now}.
Evan Nam would always be the wisest friend Jude had! Even if Jude’s emotions were all over the place because Evan still seemed to have no objection to Jude and Davet’s progressing relationship {the entire thing hurt for Jude to think about though surprisingly not as much today}. “Okay, that makes sense,’’ Jude remarked slowly, turning his friend’s words over in his mind. “Maybe I’m just overthinking,’’ came his sheepish words before the laugh followed. “Don’t worry, I don’t see that happening.” Evan had definitely gotten funnier while he was away; it was a sure sign he was healing. “I suppose you’ve got other friends you’ve got to catch up with, huh? And your sisters too?” Not that Jude wanted Evan to leave but he couldn’t be selfish.
The overstuffing was not a particularly good luck, so Evan was more than happy to have it entirely ignored - as long as no one else in the establishment was also watching him. In the quick hiatus of discussion while Jude surveyed his drawings, he'd managed to nearly finish off the savory pie before him. "Never a harm in any type of bettering of skills, but there is something to be said about the addition of natural talent." Which he had not possessed. So while yes, he could certainly do more than stick figures... in some circumstances, the sticks might have looked even better. He smiled in appreciation at his friend across from him, giving a small nod. "Thanks. Really."
Evan was just happy to see his friend happy and moving on. Jude's feeling had never been a burden to him, but it often was a source of guilt because he wanted his friend to be happy and he often times felt terrible he couldn't give what Jude had wanted. It was nice for him to see things progressing well for the Anders and Durand males. Though he likewise would have felt bad had he known his being pleased for his friend could also be a sore spot. "It's something you care a lot about, overthinking makes sense. And you're smart to have surveyed every possible outcome considering it is something... obscure in our world. I think you'll be okay though." And if he wasn't well... Evan would find a way to get punished with him because it was incredibly unfair for something to happen for just letting someone into his life.
There was a stab of guilt at Jude's words, because while he'd set aside the entire afternoon for Jude - he had caught a glimpse of his sister not seeming entirely like herself and he was a bit concerned. So while he would have pushed back today was their day, he instead just gave a small nod. "I didn't have plans but... I'm a bit worried about Lees so I think I might need to try to snag her." He knew his friend would understand the need to prioritize being older brother. "I'm really glad we got to meet up though. I've missed seeing you." It was weird being older than one's best friend and separated for such a large amount of time.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jude would not have been surprised if anyone was watching Evan stuff his face. Come on… had Evan really ever taken a good look at himself? The guy was beyond good looking! It was easy to make one casual glance at him, do a double take then continue staring. “I can’t disagree there.” Speaking from experience, Evan’s words were exactly how Jude felt about being a natural at dance and music. “I always have your back, my friend.” Finished with admiring the drawings, the book was closed and passed over to the owner. “I hope I’ll be graced with more of your drawings, Ev!”
The Hufflepuff really was trying, and there was no one he’d rather move on with than Davet. He was just grateful that Evan never wanted to stop being friends after it was determined that Evan didn’t feel the same way. That would have made Jude even more miserable than he was back then. And he did try his best to let Evan know there was nothing to feel guilty about. But yes, maybe it would always sting a little about his friend being happy about him moving on. Yet at the same time those words of reassurance and encouragement made him smile gratefully. Evan truly was the best best friend anyone could have. Third time seems to have been the charm for the older boy.
Oh, Jude understood all too well the responsibilities that came with being a big brother. “One second with you and she’ll feel like her old self! You’ll see.” Evan literally did not know how his presence could lift someone’s mood. “I’m still not used to seeing you everyday,’’ he admitted. “Sometimes I keep expecting you to materialise into the seat next to mine for lessons. Or you’ll be there asking me to partner up.” Jude didn’t suppose that these would go away any time soon. “Another meet up before you head back?” Please?
Scene 8:
Christmas 2109; a time in which Jude goes home for the break and has something to tell Davet.
Characters:
Davet Durand (Chelliephone)
Jude Anders (FearlessLeader19)
There was a noticeable spring in Davet's step as he headed up the walkway to the Anders home. Jude had sent word via letter that he'd be coming home again for the holidays and they'd been able to make plans to hang out once the younger boy was home. Davet had been counting down the days once it was scheduled, and even though he'd been supposed to be today for a unversity production, he'd been able to get the time off approved in order to spend it with his boyfriend instead.
Time off very well spent, of course.
Approaching the front door, he ran a hand through his curls - having forgone a beanie today for Jude's sake - before reaching out and rapping his hand against the wood. He bounced on his toes as well why he waited, his excitement making it impossible for him to sit still.

Counting down the days until he saw Davet was something Jude did as well. For him, there was always that ache in his heart whenever he was away from the boyfriend. Sure, there he felt that way about Evan too but… well, Jude had made up his mind to bury all feelings he had for Evan, except the purely platonic ones. It was something he knew he’d have to work hard to master but perhaps now that he knew how he truly felt about Dav, this goal would be easier.
“I got it!” Jude informed his family the moment he heard the knocks. It was Davet, Jude just knew it. The anticipation in him as he headed for the door knew no bounds. Even his heart was racing because of it. Jude threw the door open, the smile on his face growing wider at the sight of his curly haired boyfriend. Merlin, he had missed that hair! And that face! “Hi!” Without another word, Jude threw his arms around Davet’s shoulders and held him close.
Now that Jude knew that he was in love with this Muggle boy, he never wanted to let him go.
Davet could hear Jude's voice call out from the other side of the door, and he felt a further surge in his excitement but accompanied by a mix of relief that he wouldn't have to make small talk with any of the other Anders while he waited to be able to see his boyfriend. Not that he had a single thing against any of the Anders clan, who could? But just because he had been looking forward to this moment since the minute Jude had left to go back to school and he didn't want to have to wait any longer.
Seeing the door open, the boy's face was already split into a wide grin but it grew even more at the familiarity of the boy before him. He'd hardly been able to get out a returned "Hi" before Jude was hugging him and his own arms wrapped around the other. He certainly wasn't going to complain about this greeting, as he gave him a soft squeeze. "You're back! How's your term been?" He made no move away from his boyfriend as the question poured out, quietly given there was no necessity to loudness given their proximity.
