HPRP: Of Shiny Badges, Prefect Schedules and Arguments

Audelia is a Ravenclaw, prefect her fourth to sixth years, top of her year and the best female beater Hogwart's had since Olivia Stonewall back in 1986. So, it's really no surprise when her Hogwarts letter arrives with a shiny new badge enclosed. The Head Girl badge. Now, the only thing she needs is to know that a certain Slytherin is the Head Boy to her Head Girl.
Alas for her, Caelum received his Head Boy badge mere moments after she did. Caelum was always the bane of Audelia's existence all through their six years together. He taunts her mercilessly only because he knows that she's the only one who can respond properly. The two can barely share a civil conversation until it turns into a full out argument. He's guessed that she'd probably be Head Girl and honestly? Sharing a common room with her is not a pretty thought.
So what was Professor McGonaggal thinking, putting those two firecrackers together? Who'll explode first? And more importantly, what happens when they both realize that the other may not be as bad as they'd thought.

Delia began to speak when she was less than two months old, her first word was “SHUUUUUUUUUUI!” Flailing around her crib, her mother went to check on her. When she repeated, Shui -the Mandarin word for water clearly- and with obvious effort, Phoebe was surprised. Bringing a milk bottle full of water, she handed it to the child. Delia drank it greedily, as if to prove that she had truly meant to ask for water. Her second word was even stranger, it happened when Phoebe returned one day after having her hair cut.
“WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?” One special baby, no?
Delia's proof of being extraordinary kept showing itself, when she began walking steadily at six months. She even started running at eight. Months. She could read by the time she was 20 months old. When she first saw a broom, she turned it over, and started rambling on how stable it'd be to fly on. Then, she took off on it, swirling off about five feet off the ground on a toy broomstick.
By age two, she learned fluent Chinese, just by listening to her mother and grandmother talking. She was taken to a centre to be tested for extraordinary IQ. Her parents were proven right n thinking that they had a child genius. She had an estimated IQ range of 190 to 280.
A few years later, when her father became an alcoholic, things began to take a turn for the worse. There was little money, and her mother was sorely abused. Every night, Phoebe and her mother's hug on Delia's bed, and Delia'd comfort her mother as she applied salve to her mother's wounds.
When she went to Hogwarts, her mother was alone to deal with her father, but Delia never forgot. Dreams of what he'd done to the both of them haunted her through to her seventh year, even through he died of Alcohol Poisoning in her fifth year.

"Anyway, I heard an actual explosion in the back of the train. Some fourth years planted a stink bomb on the trolley. Gryffindors," He added, pursing his lips to hide a smile. "I would have given out to them- but they executed it perfectly. So I gave them five points for effort."

This year, we have some excellent Prefects and a remarkable Quiddich Captain," Jennifer said to each and every Snake. "This year, as usual, we WILL win the House Cup, and it is up to ALL of you - especially Prefects - to make sure of that!" That was the end of her little speech. Hopefully it would scare the ickle 'uns. She walked back to the Staff Table and GLARED at them all.
Luna rolled her eyes at Jennifer and said The thing that boy lacks is passion for the game and having fun! You Slytherins all you care about is winning! Learn to have fun once in the while is what I say! And the Hufflepuffs can have a chance this year, your not all that you know and neither is your House. She again rolled her eyes at Jennifer's speech. Looking down at some of the first years from the other houses she stood up after looking at Minerva for approval. She said to the three other house You all have a chance at winning this years Qudditch Cup and House Cup, you just have to try your best, Slytherin hasnt won every year! Keep on working hard and keeping out of trouble and you will succed! With this she sat down and smiled down at her house, she had to talk to Nympha about Qudditch, as soon as possible! Luna laughed and said Yes they are quite nutty! Listening to his plans for qudditch she said Yes, Morgan definetally a beater!! She looked back down at her favorite and said Really? I look adorable are you there too?! She saw a rather stern mean face and thought that was deffinetally Jennifer. She smirked at the Slytherin 1978 comment but didnt say anything as she saw she was comming back. Listening to Minerva and Teddy she was about to respond when here came Queen of Mean, she resisted rolling her eyes at superior Jen and said to Minerva and Teddy, I think the way Teddy disiplines is his own choice, not everyone needs to be as harsh as...Jen as a dictator. This time she spoke to Minerva, There was a little spat with a Ravenclaw and Slytherin, I gave them both detention and talked to a watcher-a young Slytherin by the way... It was the Slytherin who started it so I had to deduct 5 points from Slytherin. She made sure not to smile at that part.

She knew there would be some beating of Slytherin this year especially in qudditch!

If you reward the positives in their motives, they'll act on them more, and forget about the negatives." He felt like Gandhi, or some other peaceful guy.
And back on to Qudditch. "Sure we all have Prefects, Jennifer. Or would you rather if I called you 'Professor Hackett' or maybe 'Professor Perfect' would be more appropriate." He was half-joking.

And hi, first years. Righto, well welcome to Hufflepuff- I'm Professor Dwyer- Charms and occasionally Care of Magical Creatures professor. I'm looking forward to the new term, it should be interesting to see how the Prefect and Quidditch arrangements suit you all. Erm... Hope you had a nice Summer- maybe get a tan? I got a bit of tan, actually." He pulled up his jumper sleeve to show them all. "So I want you all to try your best this year, at your classes, at Quidditch and obviously with each other. I don't want a repeat of last year's third yeae Common Room Sleepover." He lowered his voice. "But it was great craic." Standing up, he added, "And because ye haven't gotten into any trouble yet, ten points to Hufflepuff for good behaviour. And for a little boost to the start of the year," He sat down, to the sound of the Hufflepuff applause.

After getting off the boat and into the school, Cael quickly caught up with Enzo and Alex, taking the seat across from them. Oh. And Leo was there. How nice. "Hey," he greeted the three of them. Honestly, he wasn't fond of Leo. Cale had always thought he could be a little bit too rough with Delia and also kinda thought being mean to her was his job not Leo's. Though he'd never actually admit it out loud.
Enzo looked at Leo and smirked. Little wizards in training. Heh. Honestly Enzo hoped his siblings turned out nothing like him. He wanted them to be better. As for Leo's news, Enzo raised his eyebrows. "Auror training huh? That sounds great." He would have smiled except for the fact that people hardly ever got a smile out of Enzo. Nope. Those were rare.
Enzo looked up from his plate when Cael arrived, nodding to his friend. He knew Alex and Cael didn't like Leo but Enzo couldn't be bothered with drama so he did his best to stay civil. Besides, he had his hands full worrying about his sister and her shenanigans to be involved in any of that type of stuff. "Hey. So how was it?" He asked, raising his eyebrows at his friend. He was quite curious how his mate's train ride in had been, especially knowing who he had been riding with.
And then Professor Hackett was talking to him or more like barking at him. He grinned and cracked his knuckles. "'Course, Professor. Got the game plan more or less sketched out already. Just need a new beater, Higgins left last year but he was terrible anyway. There's bound to be someone willing to hit a ravenclaw - oh, I mean bludger." He sniggered and went back to his food as soon as the professor turned away.
Alex glanced at Leo. "I didn't think that was possible. Don't you first have to do extremely well in your NEWTs and then doesn't it take ages to apply. There isn't a lot of auror training facilities in England." He pointed out, examining a chip before getting bored and popping it into his mouth before washing it down with a big gulp of pumpkin juice. "Besides, it's not like they're taking many people in considering we're just after a war and for one thing, Death Eaters are laying low and another, they're almost focusing completely on training Harry Potter."
Maybe it was being loyal to his best friend that Alex refused to like Leo. After all, Leo hadn't really done anything to him except annoy Alex. "Hey Cael." Alex grinned before turning his attention back to his food. "I don't think Cael was looking at you Leo." He said slightly annoyed. "More at the food. He's probably starving. You can't really get to food when someone's sleeping on you. And apparently, someone was sleeping on him." Alex glanced up and grinned wickedly at his friend.
His gaze found that of Nympha's. She was cheering the professor. What a dork. But a pretty dork. Wait whaaaaaat? Did he seriously just think she was pretty? The Ravenclaw captain he constantly fought with over fouls, projects and was competitive about pretty much everything? Shaking his head, he brought his attention back to his mates and his food.

"Having fun? We have a lot more fun throwing parties in the Common room when we've WON." Perfectly true. And Slytherin soo had a passion for the game. And now she was giving Jennifer a lecture without talking to her. Jen is harsh, la de da, she took five points from SLYTHERIN? Just as much Ravenclaw's fault. Lucky she had something to hold back. "Well, I did have to take five points from Ravenclaw because of a few third-years running around the corridor and bumping into everyone. Just as good reason, don't you agree?" She smirked, but Luna probably didn't care. They were even. It was Gryffindor who had five points. Best to take them away as soon as possible.

"I couldn't care less what you call me, unless it's one of those names that young Caelum sometimes uses on a certain Ravenclaw girl. So, first you were calling me a Roman emperor, now I'm Professor Perfect? Wow," Jennifer smirked. Now where was that little card that Teddy had brought? She looked around her feet, before finding she was sitting on it. A bit crumpled, but that didn't matter. It didn't matter if it was ripped to shreds, either. If fact, that would be perfect.
"Tan?" Jen raised an eyebrow as he came back again. Hufflepuff sleepover? That was nothing compared with the Great Slytherin tree fort that they'd built in the grounds and still stood, hanging with Slytherin flags, a few saying Hufflepuff beware. Yeah, that was so happening, even if it meant skipping a few lessons. As the teacher. It didn't matter, nobody would notice. "Ten points for good behavior?" Jennifer shook her head. He really needed disipline, and lots of it too. Why didn't she think of that?

Alex glanced at Leo. "I didn't think that was possible. Don't you first have to do extremely well in your NEWTs and then doesn't it take ages to apply. There isn't a lot of auror training facilities in England." He pointed out, examining a chip before getting bored and popping it into his mouth before washing it down with a big gulp of pumpkin juice. "Besides, it's not like they're taking many people in considering we're just after a war and for one thing, Death Eaters are laying low and another, they're almost focusing completely on training Harry Potter."
Maybe it was being loyal to his best friend that Alex refused to like Leo. After all, Leo hadn't really done anything to him except annoy Alex. "Hey Cael." Alex grinned before turning his attention back to his food. "I don't think Cael was looking at you Leo." He said slightly annoyed. "More at the food. He's probably starving. You can't really get to food when someone's sleeping on you. And apparently sleeping on him." Alex glanced up and grinned wickedly at his friend.
His gaze found that of Nympha's. She was cheering the professor. What a dork. But a pretty dork. Wait whaaaaaat? Did he seriously just think she was pretty? The Ravenclaw captain he constantly fought with over fouls, projects and was competitive about pretty much everything? Shaking his head, he brought his attention back to his mates and his food.

Enzo watched as Alex seemed to discredit Leo's claim to have been accepted to the aurors. It did seem a little premature after all, to accept the kid before he'd even completed school. Leave it to Al to call him out for it though. Heh. Enzo raised his goblet to his lips, taking a large gulp of his pumpkin juice while waiting for Leo's response. Luna looked at Jen and said Those third years, well looks like Hufflepuff and Gryffindor are beating us now, well have to try our best now...Our students... She took a drink of her pumpkin juice, she loved that stuff, she almost spit it out when she heard Teddy, 10 points, why hadnt she thought of that!! Goodness!! Nympha yawned and looked over at Delia and said I wish you could stay in the Ravenclaw Common Room in our room, but you have to go to the Heads Common Room, it sucks!Feeling eyes on her she turned to see Alex looking at her, why was he looking at her...And why did she feel her cheeks turning pink! She quickly looked away and picked up a chip...Why had she blushed she did not like the kinda handsome Slytherin Captain. Minerva shrugged. Gryffindors, it was to be expected. But hold up. "You gave them points for troublemaking?" she asked skeptically. Teddy was always very easy on the points, but this was a bit extreme, right?
Beaming at Jennifer, she nodded. "It'd be good to cut down on giving them points for free," she smirked slightly. "Prefects Compartment?" Now that was what she'd been expecting. "How slight was it?" she asked, curiously. She was going to have a replay of James and Lily Potter by Christmas, and she knew it.
There was no way on Merlin's Sunny Earth Delia would ever admit that she kinda liked sleeping on Caelum's shoulder. He made a good pillow. But maybe she was just so dead tired that she didn't care. Who knew!
Putting some pasta onto her plate, she smiled and chatted easily with Nympha, nodding at all the right places while tuning most of her tirade out.
Smiling at Professor Iceshard, Delia tossed her braid over her shoulder and twirled her fork around the pasta. Spearing a mushroom on the end, she shook her head at the staff table. And they claimed that she and Cael were a lot of work. Whatever it was, she was behind Professor Dwyer! Because he gave her the most house points.
Turning to Nympha, she smirked. "You could tone it down, right? I'd hate to take points off my own house." she hissed under her breath. Luna'd hear it. She had ears like a... like a superhero. Delia was at a loss for words.
Minerva stifled a chuckle as Professor Dwyer went down to make his speech. When had all this started? It was Jennifer's doing, obviously. She knew how to get everyone competitive. Very Slytherin of her, if Minnie might say.
"Don't argue," she smiled, very much amused. "Or I'll be forced to send all the houses into the negatives. Slytherin as well." Uh huh. They were supposed to be examples, not to act like small children!

When she decided it was safe enough to get back up, she sighed and slumped slightly before straightening her back again. Looking up from her plate, she eyed the tension between Nympha and Alex. It was so thick she could cut it with a knife! Why couldn't Alex just kiss her and get it over with?! It made a lot more sense than this.
Delia put the last of her pasta in her mouth just in time to see Professor Nutter McGonnaggal get up to make her speech. "I wanted to as well," she groaned quietly. "I just can't believe I'm sharing a Common Room with him!" she muttered. Blinking to stay awake, she nodded all through McGonaggal's speech. Whatever. Don't die. Hard to say, but okay. Uh huh. Whatever.
Minerva got up once they were done eating and cleared her throat to get everone's attention. "Good evening everyone," she smiled. "All new students, welcome. All returning students, welcome back." Yes, clap, clap. "Mr. Filch has asked me to inform you that Weasley's Wizard Wheezes products are banned and that pranking is generally frowned upon," she nodded, looking at Leo Valdez rather sternly. And will be awarded with endless detention. "So enjoy this new term, and have fun. Now, off to bed. Curfew's in 20 minutes."
And eyeing the new heads, she nodded at them as if to tell them to stay back after the rest were gone. She needed to talk to them. Urgently.

Ill be waiting for you outside here, okay? She stood up and gave Delia a hug and said Good luck, good night and dont let the bed bugs bite. She laughed at the muggle thing her dad told her every night...

Luna whisperred Sorry Minerva... She looked down she hadnt been scolded by Minerva before...At that moment she realized she forgot to look at Nympha for cheering for her-even though she personally did like it..She needed to talk to Nympha before school started to get hectic. She turned to Minerva and said If you do not need me, I would like to go talk to my Qudditch captain if that is fine?

He eyed Enzo curiously as he took his seat. "How was what?" he asked, not completely sure if he knew what the other boy was talking about. Though.. he was pretty sure he did. "I assume you mean the train ride, and it was- Something." he shrugged. Then, he grabbed his plate and began shoveling food onto it. MMM. And now.. Leo was questioning him? He hadn't given the other boy a look. No, Cael would never do that unless the boy had actually said something that bothered him, which he didn't.
Caelum opened his mouth to speak up for himself when- Alex had decided to do it for him. What a good mate. He HAD been eying up the food. That was true. Oh. Right. Heh. Now he'd have to spill it, wouldn't he? He glanced over at his two friends, giving them a look that read 'LATER'. He wasn't about to tell the entire Slytherin table that Delia had decided his shoulder was a nice place for a nap for a good chunk of the train ride and that he hadn't decided to wake her up from it until they actually arrived. Nope, the Slytherins didn't need to know that. And neither did Leo.
His mind had begun to wander as Enzo and Alex dived off into their quidditch discussion. Despite this, he still managed to laugh and smile in all the right places, as he usually did. But now, his mind was kind of on Delia. Why hadn't he woken her as soon as her head found his shoulder? That was just.. unlike him.
And just as he was coming out of his little daze, he'd heard the headmistress say that it was time for bed. So, he stood, eying all the younger students. Was it his job to lead them up to the common room? Yes, of course it was. He sighed, waiting for the rest of the prefects to stand and gather the students to take to their rooms.

Minerva watched as the students dispersed slowly and allowed her gaze to focus on the two heads whose backs were to each other. Nodding at Luna, she gestured towards the chattering Quidditch Captain. "Have a good night, Luna," she smiled. Smiling briefly at the other professors, she stepped down from the staff tables and stood in between the Head Boy and Girl, tapping both of them on the shoulder and stepping back.
Delia smiled a little, but her mind was obviously elsewhere. Shaking her head, she stood up to prepare to lead the first years away to their common room. Giggling lightly, she nodded. "Why don't you just go up for tonight? We'll talk tomorrow."
"Night, Nymphie," she smiled, waving at her friend as she made off. Feeling a tap on her shoulder, however, she pivoted sharply on her heel to face whoever it was, her wand springing out of its holster and into her hand. Preparing to send a powerful stinging hex in their direction, she blushed wildly when she realized it was only the headmistress. Slipping the Cherry wand back into its holster, she ducked her head in an effort to hide the fact that her face now matched her hair.
"Sorry, Professor," she smiled sheepishly, recovering. "Constant vigilance?" As if it was an excuse for pointing her wand at a professor.
The opening feast had begun and ended faster than he thought possible. His Slytherin freinds were being more nuts then usual toward him and he really wanted to just leave and head for his common room. Maybe tomorrow would be better. He said his goodbyes and quickly headed down to the Slytherin common room there he got his things together and prepared for bed.
Jennifer stood up and left her seat. She might have to patrol or something, but it didn't matter, she wanted to sleep, not shout. "Good evening," she said to everyone left in the room. Hopefully it would be a good evening. Hopefully she'd be able to sleep, and if she did, without any nightmares. She walked along the corridor, her shoulders slumped. She had a bunch of lessons planned, none of them fun to teach.

Nympha waved back to her friend and looked up at her professor, who was there to talk about qudditch, she already knew what the converstaion would intell so she thought about it all on the train...Yes she was a good captain. After her and Professor Iceshard finished talking she said good night and ran up to the Ravenclaw Girls Common Room and went to sleep, but before she left she could have sworn she saw Delia point her wand at the Headmistress...
