(The way I'm running this game makes it easy for people to join in the middle of plot.)
You open your eyes slowly, your vision blurry and head pulse pounding painfully in your temples. Your mouth tastes like cotton dipped in cough syrup and your tongue seems to have swollen to fill your entire mouth. Your arms feel heavy and you’re almost unable to move them, but with some concentration, you eventually lift your hand to your face. The light overhead is almost unbearable and you use her hand to shield your eyes from it, groaning heavily as your roll slowly to one side. With a monumental effort, you manage to get yourself onto all fours, and then push yourself back into a sitting position. You try opening your eyes again and the light blares at you, but isn’t as unbearable as before. You attempt to regulate your breathing as your eyes adjust to the light in the room around you.
After some painful blinking, the ringing in your ears begins to subside and, while it feels like you have had anything to drink in weeks, you manage to unstuck your tongue from the roof of your mouth which makes breathing much easier. The room, you see, is very basic—there isn’t any furniture or windows and the wallpaper is peeling a little, revealing plaster and drywall behind it. On one wall, you see a door which is closed and a small hallway off to one side appears to lead to a bathroom.
In all, it just seems like a very bare, empty apartment. There’s even a small kitchenette and a little hallway. But… where are you? Actually, that’s really even less important than… who are you? And… who are these other people who are lying on the floor, blinking blearily around. What’s going on here?
So, here’s the deal. I’m still experimenting with new ways of RPing that will prevent RPs from dying out before they’re finished. This is how this is going to work. I will NOT be playing any character. I will be playing the plot. You should all interact with each other and I, as the plot, will tell you what happens as a consequence of your actions (if any).
I’m also adding a new element to this RP: You don’t build your own character sheets. Because you don’t know who you are. Get it? I will, of course, take suggestions about what type of character you would like to play, but in general, you have no idea who you’re playing. How will this work, you ask? Well, allow me to tell you.
I have a few thumbnails of faces below. You will choose what your character looks like. And, over the course of the game, I will give little bits of your memory back. Quite possibly including your name. And you get to try to piece together what has happened to you and decide what to do about it.
My rules are super easy but very important
1. Have fun. That’s always number one.
2. There is NO minimum amount line for your posts. Sometimes, you can’t do more than one sentence.
3. When you DO post, however, please check your spelling and grammar.
4. Be kind to your fine posting friends.
Pretty sure that’s it… but I reserve the right to add more.
So, here are the available characters (with their ages, because that’s kind of more obvious). If they get filled up, I can add more.
Please ask for the number next to the photo mini.

Interrupting him, the Glass lit up again and showed a young-but-bedraggled-looking man struck by a flash of light. You can tell that this is your mystery man, but a bit less mad. He falls through the curtain, though it's apparent that he's already dead as he does.
"Yes, well..." the man says, looking slightly embarrassed. "It must be on my setting. I watch this scene a bit... er... frequen--"
He's interrupted again as the scene continues. A young boy with messy, black hair and green eyes runs toward the veil, only to be caught by an older man. "SIRIUS!" the boy screams. The scene flickers and fades away.
The man walks over to the Glass with wide eyes. He touches the surface of the globe gingerly. "Sirius?" he asks it. "You've never shown me 'Sirius' before."
He clears his throat when he realizes all eyes are on him and turns around to the rest of you again. "So..." he says, eyes glistening slightly with hidden-away tears. "Are you all ready to go back?"

Charlotte watched as she saw that scene play. Sirius... The name rang a bell somewhere in a memory. Perhaps she had learned about him before in school, that meant that she was stuck with some creepy dead person who did something notable. She pinched herself, just to make sure this all hadn't been some stupid dream. "Better there than here," Charlotte muttered, still a bit uneasy about this whole thing. "Will you ever get to go back? Or will you just be stuck here?" Charlotte asked. If the guy was sending them all back then she felt a tiny bit sorry because he couldn't come with. Unless... he wanted to stay, which she doubted.

August felt sorry for the man because he had to stay here in this hell hole.."So we could go back because technically we are not dead yet?"

The man shrugs. "I'm not sure that you will get those memories back." He looks sad again and adds, "I'm not sure you'd want to. Too many things to miss. It may be easiest not to remember."
He smiles at the last and says, "Precisely, my boy. Currently, you are temporally banished, so to speak. Or, at least as far as I can tell, you are. You'd be surprised what interesting tidbits you overhear when you can look into matters at the Ministry of Magic through the Glass." He smiles.

Lisette felt terrible for the man and that poor boy. She saw the love and the anger in those green eyes. She sighed. The name.. Sirius sounded so very familiar!
She felt sorry for the man. She didn't know what to say. I'm sorry or thank you. "I'm sorry.." she said softly hoping that the man could hear it.

Before the man is able to answer any questions, the Glass lights up on its own, without his prompting it. It shows Tristan and Lisette being marched up the side of the dais in the same way that it showed Charlotte before. Tristan looks utterly defeated--even exhausted--but Lisette is struggling valiantly with the Aurors holding her.
"Fight! she shouts at Tristan. "Together, we can--"
"Together?" Tristan finally roars, wrenching around to look at her. "Together, we will die. And you know whose fault that is, Lisette. If you ever even told me your real name, you thieving trash!"
The scene bubbles and flickers away as the Aurors toss the two of them through the veil.
After this finished, the man, looking completely unembarrassed, says, "Decades of being here, I've regained a lot of memories." He looks almost longingly at the wand before frowning slightly. "In any case, I can get you out. And I suppose I'll just drift here... or perhaps move on to whatever's next." He shudders slightly at this thought.
"It may be fortunate that you don't know who you are," he says, though it's not clear whether he's just thinking out loud or talking to you. "It should help you embrace your new identities more easily."
He looks at you all seriously now, and says, "Something must be done about the Ministry. Until you relearn your magic and learn to live like the witches and wizards you are, you can't go against them. You won't even have a hope." He pauses here and the silence of the room suddenly strikes you. "So grow up!" he booms. "Live your lives. Keep your noses clean. Come back together in ten years time. Gather allies against the corruption of the Ministry and fight! Fight them!"
He smiles a little dreamily as though he's just remembered something and says, "Times like these bring out the best in some people and the worse in others."
He snaps to and asks, "Am I clear?"

Seth looks at the man, when he hears a young boy calling his name in the globe. He feels bad for him, cause there's no hope for him. Obviously he had died when he had fallen through that veil. What had anyone done to deserve a fate like this? It's really horrible.
"I wish I could help," He said looking at the man, it seems that they were going away. Leaving back to the real world. But he'll stay here, forever more. Seth couldn't take the idea, it was too horrible to even think about.

Sylvestre looked at the man with a frown, "I am sorry," he said, he looked around at the others, they were all "dead" because of the Ministry of Magic, they could never see their families again. He sighed and looked at them man, "Let's go then, the sooner we can destroy the Ministry the better." Tristan felt disgusted, confused, and extremely disappointed after seeing that scene that played in the glass. Lisette was clearly... not who he had started to think she was. The girl in that scene was absolutely nothing like the girl standing next to him, and he couldn't help feeling a little relieved when she released his hand. That look she'd had in her eyes when she stole the ring back in that scene that played in the television, now this...
She was a thief, had betrayed him in some way, and it all led to this... to their deaths.
Tristan said nothing, though. He still felt a little confused, but he wasn't sure he could continue seeing Lisette in the same light he'd been seeing her in these past few hours.
As the dark-haired man asked if they were ready to return to the real world, the boy nodded his head, more eager than ever to return out there now, to start a new life and forget about whatever screwed up life he'd been leading before ending up in this place.
Charlotte sighed. "And off we go?" she said. She wondered what would be waiting on the other side. Maybe they'd come back here one day? "Hey... Sirius, if that's your name, maybe one day we'll find a way to get you back to the other side," she said. It was a new page, a new life. And it was now or never...

Seth looked around the room, seeing them all nod in agreement. But he wasn't ready, he wasn't ready to go out there without anything! With no memory with no sense of anything. This was bad, why did he end up here in the first place? Why had he broken the rules? Oh merlin, this was going out of hand. And the man was asking them if they were ready to go. He wanted to shout No with all his might, wanted to tell him that he didn't/couldn't face the outer world. But his voice failed him for the first time in his life.
He looked defeatedly at the man, feeling very bad for him indeed. "I'm sorry," He mumbled. And then nodded, against his will. But there was nothing else for it.

June gulped, feeling the perspiration on her forehead. "I..." She began, failing with words. She turned to take a hard look at Sydney, then a hard look at the man near the globe. She decided to take a leap of faith. It was either do that or stay in the dark for eternity. "We should. No," She swallowed hard, her eyes set as she felt determination rising in her spirit, "We will." But first, it seemed as if the man was dealing with others. Her twin's fighting spirit might have rubbed off on June, but she still was the tentatively polite girl that she had always been. The people up there wouldn't want the twins spyng in on their own deaths, just as the twins wouldn't want the same.
Conversation continued to float about as the twins stood idly. June knew that Sydney was growing rather impatient, but so be it. She jumped, releasing her sister's hand as she cried out. She had a point, but June was already scared to death and didn't need her sister's barking to increase her discomfort. However, she nodded quickly and sharply in agreement. "Exactly," She mumbled, glancing at the girl who Sydney had agreed with before her gaze fell to her feet.
"That's the spirit." she said approvingly, glancing over at her sister. She was under the impression the girl was a bit of a pushover... A follower, if you will. Perhaps she was a little bolder than she originally thought, though. Who knew? She still felt like a stranger. Sydney hoped she would remember more about her past soon. As each tidbit was released, she only got more and more curious...
She wanted, very badly, to see herself in the glass and to understand more about herself. Sydney was immensely curious about her life before hand- perhaps too curious. It fascinated her to think that she had a life before this disaster.
Sydney wanted to go back, but she wanted to see her death first. She wanted to see who she was getting revenge on.
"I would like to see my death." she stated plainly, keeping her tone nice and polite. If she was going to get what she wanted, Sydney figured pretending to be a nice, good girl would be the best way to do it. she could play innocent for a few minutes. "Please, sir." Errr. Well, she knew his name now, after that last scene... Poor guy. She was glad she wouldn't be trapped here for all of eternity. "Sirius is it? Please just let me see." She bit her lip, anxious but hopeful.
"Before we go back." She did want to go back, of course. Sydney was the type to hold a grudge, if you know what I mean.

Sylvestre looked at the man and nodded, he smiled a small smile, "I wan to go," he said, "The sooner the better." He sighed, he did want to go back but....it wouldn't be the same he couldn't remember anything but he could feel it, the place where he was going would feel familiar yet strange at the same time.

June weakly smiled as her sister seemed to approve of her fighting spirit. Where had that burst of energy come from? Maybe the twins were more alike than June had originally thought, and that brought her a bit of glee in this mundane situation. June was the most timid, tentative girl you would find, but at least she had a blood relative with her to provide comfort, even if it felt as if they were strangers. Some people had no one but themselves, and others had boyfriends, girlfriends, and whatever else they were.
"Please?" June gulped, shyly asking the man after June had made her plea. "I'd like to see as well." She had the strangest gut feeling, that possibly the twins had died the same death at the same time, but she chose to ignore it. Twins were obviously born together, but who had ever heard of twins dying together as well?

Jeffery nodded slowly, taking in everything as quickly as he could. So... they were finally leaving. He couldn't wait to finally get out of here, to finally see the sky and be outside again. He though of Beryl and felt a lump in his throat. Would he ever see her again? "Will we still be able to communicate with each other after we leave?" He asked this in a plain tone, but was really asking if he could see Beryl, Sylvestre, and everyone else he's gotten close to during this time.

Beryl firmed her lips and nodded once at the man's question. "Yes," she said finally, but that was all she said. She felt very bad for the man, but knew there was no help for him, at least not right then. She gulped as Jeffery asked his question and Sylvestre answered Sirius, but she couldn't bring herself to look at either of them.

Tristan turned to Lisette as she approached him, his eyebrows raising and his eyes widened just very slightly as she placed the ring he'd given her earlier in his hand. He gazed at it as it sparkled in his hand for a moment before looking up again as Lisette apologized, explaining that the ring was his, that it had never been hers.
He was quiet, at a loss of words, and suddenly he couldn't help feeling a little bad, his heart sinking slowly. "Thank you," was all he was able to mutter quietly, watching as she walked away from his side.
He'd miss her, he knew that much - the new version of her, anyway, not the thief they saw through their memories; and he hoped they could have a chance to start over once they were back in the real world, but... well, there was no real way to tell.
For now, he just wanted to get out of this room, to start a new life and regain his magical skills.

OOC: I've got posts from everyone who PM'd me, I believe. So I'm going to post Sydney's death and then give you the closing scene. Congratulations, everyone! You've reached the end of Misplaced Memories!! (I've cut this into sections to the post doesn't take up the whole screen. )
SPOILER!!: Sydney and June
Sirius looks at Sydney slowly and, wordlessly, he turns to the Glass. A small section of it lights up and you see the following scene:
Side-by-side, June and Sydney are marched to the edge of the dais and are forced up the stairs. June is, as always, silent, though she drags her feet heavily as she's pushed forward. Sydney is struggling much more fervently. When it doesn't look like she's making any leeway with the Auror holding her back, she goes limp in an attempt to make it more difficult. But the Auror is strong and pulls her to her feet.
Sydney turns to June with a sorry face and says, "Jeez, June! Fight, or something!"
June doesn't look up. She just takes a deep breath and chews on her bottom lip.
Sydney screams at her now, kicking at the Auror holding her. "Fight! Or get mad! Yell at me! Cry! Tell me you hate me! Do something!"
June finally looks up at Sydney as they reach the top of the dais and says, "It's okay, Syd." She smiles softly.
Sydney stares at her sister, open-mouthed for a moment. In her surprise, she is tossed headfirst through the veil. At this, June rears back and bashes the back of her head into the face of the Auror holding her. When he releases her, she takes a running leap and flies through the veil after Sydney.
SPOILER!!: Through the Glass
Stepping away from the Globe and the two girls, Sirius looks around at everyone else and says, "If you're ready, I will perform the rite."
He smiles at all of you and his eyes are glistening with tears. "I will remain here to catch others wrongfully executed and send back as many as I can to go into hiding. When you have succeeded in stopping the use of the veil, I will go on to whatever lies after this realm and be in peace. Build yourselves up to be strong, determined, vigilant witches and wizards. Stop these injustices."
Without another word, Sirius turns to the Glass, Charlotte's mending wand in his right hand. He places one hand on the solid globe and circles the Globe with the tip of the wand. A golden ribbon falls from the tip of the wand, encircling the Glass in falling ringlets. When the ribbon finally circles to the top of the sphere, a shimmery effect overtakes the surface of the Glass. Sirius removes his hand from the surface as the golden light from the globe begins to dim. The Glass itself begins to turn a pale, silvery color, mimicking a moon rather than a sun now. Ripples wash down the sides of the globe as the silvery surface, reflection the images of all of you distorts slightly. When all of the golden light has fades, the ripples slowly subside until you all find yourselves looking at a glossy, metallic orb. It rises up from the cloudline beneath your feet and hovers before you, as tall as Sirius.
"You're only children," Sirius says a little suddenly. "Children being asked to fight the corruption of adults." His voice is soft and hoarse. His eyes are faraway as though he's remembering something from long ago. "It is a sad thing when children are asked to fight for us. But the adults are too afraid..."
He seems to snap back to reality and look around at all of you once more. "Remember," he says. "Hogsmeade. Hog's Head. Artemis Braker. I'll get you as close as I can. Now go!"
SPOILER!!: Artemis Braker
He gently shuffles you all through the mirror-like surface of the Glass, one at a time. The wand tip continues to point at the globe, a constant stream of magic flowing between the two.
Laryn, you are the last to exit through the Glass. Sirius stops you before you can leave and pulls a folded piece of notebook paper out of his pocket with his free hand. He explains that you must give it to Artemis as soon as you find him.
After all of you have stepped through the surface, you are pitched into complete nothingness. You hear a sound amplified over on itself so that it rings in your years; it is the sound of a wand breaking in half. Then, there is only silence. And darkness. You don't seem to be standing on anything, either. In fact, for a moment, you feel as though you don't exit anymore. Just as this thought occurs to you, however, you suddenly find yourself standing in an cobblestone alley between two boarded-up buildings, blinking in the moonlight-- bright to your eyes after the darkness of Between. When you step out of the alley, you glimpse a sign across the street and almost allow yourself to smile. You can see a crude drawing of the severed head of a pig on a wooden sign outside a pub. The Hog's Head.
The end... for now.
OOC: Anyone who wishes to play in the sequel, may. Over the course of your "new" lives, you may begin to recover some of your memories. Everyone who wands to continue playing their characters and wants to know a bit more about their characters should PM me with between 1 and 5 questions. Totally random questions, if you want. Or they could be more meaningful. Or you can choose that you don't remember anything new.
ALSO, very important. PM me with whether your character will decide to go off to their "new" lives together. Most of you will be separated, but you may be paired up with someone if you're stubborn enough.
Thanks, everyone! This has been stellar!
