Hearing that she was ready was extremely reassuring. He had kind of sprung this whole moving-to-Sweden thing on her and he was afraid that she might change her mind one day. But she didn't, and for that Mason was grateful. He would make it worth it for her.

Mason smiled down at her. "Yeah, we are." He and Rose were going to live happily ever after. Or something like that. He knew no one lived happily ever after, but it was going to be pretty darn close. They would bicker and disagree like all couples did, but it was worth it. It was worth being with her forever.

He kissed her forehead lightly before letting go of one of her hands and reaching into his jacket pocket. Grabbing the small box, Mason held it between him and Rose. After a moment, his lips curled into a small smile and he opened it, showing Rose the ring inside. "This was my mother's engagement ring," he began, squeezing Rose's hand with his free one. "I remember how much she loved it. She told me how my dad proposed to her..." Mason continued to look at the ring, recalling the time she told him. "My dad didn't have enough money to get a fancy ring at first, so he bought one of those cheap plastic ones at a roller skating rink. And then he proposed to her right in the middle of the rink. Mum said he nearly fell over trying to get down on one knee. He wasn't very good at skating." Mason chuckled quietly at the mental image of that scene.

"After they got married and settled down, my dad saved up as much money as he could and bought her this ring. She had no idea he had been saving up for it... And when my mum died, dad gave it to me." Mason took a deep breath, but it came out a little shaky. He was suddenly getting nervous. Probably because this wasn't at all planned and he was totally winging this whole thing. "He told me that when I found the right woman, I should show her this ring... and ask her to be my wife." Mason then took the time to finally look at Rose again. He wanted to see her reaction before he continued. He wanted to make sure she understood what he was getting at. Mason wanted to be with Rose forever.

Rose watched him take a small box out of his jacket pocket. A small box... Gulp. She leaned forward and looked at the ring, her eyes growing a little wider in surprise. "Mason, it's so beautiful." Oh, gosh. She continued to admire the ring as she listened to Mason talk about his father proposing to his mother in the middle of the skate rink. She laughed and shook her head. "That is one of the most romantic stories I've ever heard." So he proposed with a cheap plastic ring.. but so what? It was the gesture that counted. Not how fancy the ring is. "Your parents must have really loved each other."

Should show her this ring and ask her to be my wife... Rose looked up at Mason, surprise clearly written on her face. Was he going to propose to her? She could feel her heart beating wildly and before she could stop herself, she let out a small excited laugh. Oh gosh. He was going to propose. She was going to marry this guy and nothing in world would ever make her more happy. It took all the energy in her not to dance around and yell the fact that she was going to be Mrs. Everard.

"Go on." Rose grinned, her face flushed.

She liked the ring. That was a good first step. And she was smiling and laughing. That was a VERY good sign. Mason smiled more and absently played with her fingers. He was getting more nervous now. "They did love each other. And they were married for fifty-nine years..." Fifty nine years was a long time.

Mason grinned when Rose urged him on. He kissed her lips quickly before taking a step back and getting down on one knee. He held the small box out in front of him and looked up his beautiful girlfriend. His heart thudded wildly inside of his chest. He was nervous even though he shouldn't have been. And he was grinning like an idiot. "Rose, I love you. I love you... more than I can describe, especially because I am insanely nervous right now and I can barely collect my thoughts." He laughed lightly and shook his head. This wasn't how he planned it, but he didn't care. There was only thing that really mattered right now.

"Will you marry me?"

Fifty-nine years was a long time to be married to someone. But as long as Mason was with Rose, he wanted it to be even longer.

Fifty nine years?... WOW. Rose wondered if she'd be with Mason for that long. Of course she would. There was no doubt about that. She really couldn't imagine living without Mason now. They'd be together forever and ever.

Rose laughed, watching him get down on one knee. After one failed engagement, one would have thought she'd be a little careful about getting engaged again but she was hundred and ten percent sure Mason was the one. He was just everything that mattered to her. Nervous? There was absolutely nothing to be nervous about but she remained quiet, waiting for him to ask that one question.. and he did. "Yes, yes, yes!" Rose almost jumped with excitement. She bent down and kissed him, letting her arms wrap around his neck. She was sure no one in the world could be as happy as she was now.

...Oh, wait. She pulled away, flushing slightly. Rose grinned and extended her left hand. Heh. She was a little giddy with excitement but one could hardly blame her. She was getting married to the love of her life.

Rose's enthusiasm was fantastic, really. It made him less nervous. Especially when she said the magical word... YES. Mason grinned even more, feeling like a weight had been lifted. Like he was the happiest person alive, which he was pretty sure he was.

Mason nearly fell backwards when Rose flung her arms around him, but he caught himself. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back. Their first kiss as an engaged couple. Mason grinned. He was seriously the happiest had ever been. Both of their previous engagements may have ended horribly, but Mason was going to make sure this would work out. It WOULD work out. He knew that.

When Rose pulled away and held out her left hand, Mason grinned even more and took the ring out of the box and put the box back in his pocket. He took her left hand and slid the ring onto her ring finger. It seemed to fit, too, which was fantastic considering he hadn't even thought about getting it sized. Mason looked at Rose again and stood up, taking both of her hands. "This is a good start for our new life together, wouldn't you say?" Okay, more like PERFECT.

Rose really couldn't believe this was happening. She had obviously thought about getting married to him someday, although she was a little worried that he wouldn't want the same thing. But, this was absolutely fantastic. He'd proposed to her in the middle of an empty room and she was wearing a pair of shorts, for Merlin's sake! But, she thought it was incredibly romantic. "You're my fiance now." She said, with a laugh. It was almost surreal really. She hadn't seen this coming at all. But, it was the best surprise. EVER.

Oh gosh. "Mason, I absolutely love the ring." Rose stared at the ring on her finger, unable to take her eyes off of it. It looked so beautiful and elegant. "I love you." She said softly, finally looking up at him. She loved this man so much. Like, it was unbelievable how much in love with him she really was.

"Absolutely." It was an amazing start actually. She couldn't have asked for a better start for their new lives together. She let her arms wrap around his waist before she stood on her toes and gave him another kiss on the lips. "We should celebrate..once your dad gets better, that is."

Mason grinned at the word fiance. They were going to give this marriage thing another shot and Mason knew it was going to work out this time. And he was SO glad she loved the ring. He was hoping she would, since it had been his mother's. He had been saving it for the right person, and there she was. Mason should have known Medea wasn't the right one - he didn't even propose to her with his mother's ring because he was scared she would hate it. But he didn't even want to think about Medea anymore. Rose was his fiance and soon she would be his wife. Forever. "I love you too," he said softly, still smiling widely.

With another grin, he kissed her back. Celebrate? Definitely. "We should. Once he gets better, we should all go out for a fancy dinner or something." Mason couldn't wait. Now he was even more excited to leave London. It was like him proposing was... the end of the chapter. And now he was ready to move on to the next.

"What do you say we get out of here? We have some boxes to unpack." He grinned a little bit, thinking of all the unpacking they were going to do for the next few days. And he was excited, still.

Rose really couldn't stop herself from smiling. She knew that this wasn't the right time to talk about celebrating when Mason's dad was still in the hospital but.. she wanted to mark the occasion. It wasn't like she was going to get proposed to again. This was the second and the last time because she knew Mason was the one. She let her fingers link through his, her eyes straying to her left hand again. The ring was just amazing really. Classy and beautiful. "I love you more." Rose flushed slightly, looking up at her fiance. Heh. She loved using that word. "Fancy dinner sounds great." And suddenly, she wondered how his father or her family were going to react to their engagement. She didn't know about Mason's dad but she was sure her parents would be pleased. They liked Mason even if they seemed to think he was responsible for her move to Sweden. Okay, well.. he was but it definitely was NOT a bad thing, in Rose's opinion.

Unpacking.. Rose groaned inwardly. She wasn't looking forward to that part at all. "Let's get going then." Oh, gosh. This was it. Moving to another country again and she hoped this was the last time.

Goodbye, London.

Mason chuckled lightly and shook his head. She loved him more? "Not possible, love." He was pretty sure they had had that discussion before, too. Oh well. Mason leaned down and kissed her nose. It was time to go now, and Mason was more ready than ever. "Yes, let's." Mason grinned and grabbed their last suitcase.

He looked around the empty house one more time and let out a satisfied sigh. Many years he had spent in this house; some good, some bad. Over all, Mason could say that he enjoyed his life in London. He loved his house, he loved his job, he loved his friends and he learned a lot about life and love. But now it was time to go. Time to move on, and Mason was excited beyond belief.

Taking Rose's hand again and holding their last suitcase handle in the other, Mason concentrated on their new house and within moments... Mason and Rose disapparated, leaving their London life behind to start a new one in Sweden.
