Per Ardua Ad Astra Through....adversity to the stars...

I know a lot of people are making up all these extravagant RPGs right now, you know, combining shows and movies and other themes with Harry Potter, but I really wanted to take it back to basics. I mean, we all know Harry's story, we read about it for hours on end because we can't put the book down. And we know some things about Harry's parents, but the rest is really just guess work. I know there are a few Marauder's RP's out right now but I never seem to join them on time so I decided to make my own. James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Petigrew and Lily Evans all fascinate me and since we don't have any books written on them, it's really up to us to make up their story. So that's why I've made up this RP.

It's based on the relationships of James and his best friends as well as the relationship of James and Lily, after all, without James and Lily, there would be no....the boy who lived and no defeat of the great Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort. It's based on the struggles they all go through and how they work to overcome them.

I have no real prference to how we take this, but I have a few things to help the plot along. I would like them to be in sixth year, and at this point, Lily still "hates" James, or at least acts like it. Once we've got more into the RP, we can start to make decisions as to when they should start dating. But this RP isn't only focused on those two, it also is about Sirius, Lupin and Peter and even Snape. Seeing as we don't know many of the students who would have attended at that time, we will have a bunch of made ups to play those characters. You guys can basically make up any relationships, except for the one we know, James and Lily, but by all means, either of them could date other students before they start dating each other. So have fun and let's try and make this a great RP, please only ask for characters if you will be committed. Also, a huge pet peeve of mine is ONE SENTENCE POSTS, so please don't do that, try to go into some detail, have something intersting to say to move the plot along, hehe.

He raised an eyebrow at Lily, somewhat surprised at her knowledge of the dungeons. "I didn't know you knew the long way," Severus said coolly. He was pleased that she thought of taking the detour, rather than going the normal way, despite the fact that he was starving.

She smiled as he squeezed her hand and then flashed him a mischevious smile.
"When you are a prefect, you get to wandering around a lot of places, so I took advantage of that and familiarised myself with....most of the castle." she said, her eyes dancing as the few lit candles past over them.

"I see," Severus said as they turned a corner. He was looking into Lily's eyes, nearly causing him to walk into a wall. He recovered quickly, hoping Lily hadn't noticed. "It's a shame I can't do that too. Not around the Gryffindor tower, at least," he said bitterly, scowling and thinking just how many curses he would endure if he were to walk anywhere near the gryffindor common room.

Ally strolled into the Great Hall a few minutes later than the rest of the group. She took the time to visit a few places in the castle that she loved most. They hadn't changed a bit. Ally loved that fact. Nothing about Hogwarts ever really changed for her. That kind of stability was rare.

She settled herself at the Gryffindor table, neatly setting her school bag at her feet. Making sure that Sirius was not in her vicinity, she reached out for a pot of coffee and tipped it over into her goblet. Picking up a strawberry, she nibbled on the end of it, not very hungry. Ally hardly ate sometimes. She was too busy studying, usually. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Sirius sitting halfway down the table along with...Sloane. Ally's eyes narrowed. She felt like jinxing Sloane. Why did she feel like jinxing Sloane? "Must have rattled my brain when I fell," she muttered under her breath. Quickly turning away from Sirius, she attempted to focus on breakfast.

Lily nodded understandingly, completely oblivious to Severus almost walking into a wall.
"Well we will just have to hang out more down by the lake, the library, the forest and dungeons I guess." she said, trying to think of places where neither of them would be hexed for hanging out with students from houses that were such bitter enemies.

Molly entered the Great Hall and spotted Ally sitting a little furthar down. She headed over and sat down next to her.
"Ally! How are you feeling? I heard what happened?" she asked concern in her voice.

Peter sat down at the table next to Remus, and quickly started piling things onto his plate, not really listening to the conversations going on around him.

Severus shrugged at lily's suggestions.
"The lake has too many people, including certain Gryffindors. The library might work as long as Lupin isn't there, which is rare. The forest sounds very good, but the dungeons are dangerous," Severus said in a serious tone.
"Anyway," he said, shaking his head and causing his stringy hair to fly in his face, "What'd you do over the summer?"

"Dangerous? I'm not afraid of any Slytherin hiding out down here wanting to hex me. You know that I am just as good at defence against the dark arts as anybody, I was one of the best in our class after you." she said stubbornly, wanting to prove that she could and would defend herself. She gave him a hard look, but then realised there was no reason to prove herself to him, he was just being protetive. She sofened her gaze and smirked again.
"Then I guess the forest is our best bet." she said, the mischevious look back in her eye.
"My summer was good, lots of travelling with the family. Unfortunately Patunia was there and always had to make things difficult, but I've just decided its easier to ignore her now." she said, her eyes flickering with sadness for a moment, before it disappeared and a stony expression replaced it.
"How was yours?" she asked, changing the subject.

Severus looked at Lily out of the corner of his eyes. "Lily, they know things you wouldn't dream of. You have to be careful with Slytherins," he warned, admiring her skill and courage, but also worried for her safety. "The forest it is, then," he added, smiling gently at his best friend, his only friend.
Snape scowled when Lily mentioned Petunia. She was just a stupid muggle. So why'd Lily care so much for her? Tuney just doesn't understand, he thought bitterly. He looked into Lily's face as she spoke, studying it hard. He saw how upset she was about her sister. "I'm sure Petunia will come around eventually," Severus said in a soft voice, squeezing Lily's hand again. "My summer was fantastic," he said with heavy sarcasm. "I got to sit in my room all day long and listen to my parents argue over every little thing they could think of. I swear, one of these days my mother will snap and curse my father into bits." Snape looked down at his feet resentfully, as if he blamed his toes for all the things he had to deal with at his house. "I just hope I'm there to watch."

“Good to know I’m not the only one that has such peculiar dreams.” Sloane was pleased she had managed to make him smile. Though any sort of facial expression suited him, she liked him best when he smiled.

Reaching the Gryffindor table the first people she noticed were Molly and Ally. Knowing that Sirius and his friends probably wouldn’t notice if she just left she decided to excuse herself regardless, “Well don’t eat all the food boys. I’m going to go see how Ally is doing.” Giving them all a friendly wave she walked over to where her friends sat.

Finding an empty seat across from her friends Sloane sat down and began to pour herself a goblet of juice. “Good morning girls.” She smiled at them both before focusing on Ally, “Glad to see you are better Ally. We were all really worried last night.” It was hard to believe that the night before she had been injured, because she looked completely healthy now; which was wonderful.

As soon as James entered the Great Hall, his dark eyes searched around the Hall particularly on thre Gryffindor table, but he couldn't find the preson he was looking for.

Maybe she wasn't up yet.

Nah. Who was he kidding. This is Lily Evans he was talking (in this case -- thinking) about. It was far more likely she already had her breakfast and left.

He followed the others and took a seat on the Gryffindor table. He poured some juice into his goblet and gulped it all down his throat. Grabbing some toast, he smiled at Sirius and took a bite. "What do you reckon we'll have first?" He asked as he watched Profressor McGonagall handing out timetable to some of the younger kids.

Having just indulged in a piece of toast, Sirius didn't exactly raise his eyes from the plate in front of him as Sloane left, but he did mutter some words in her direction, regardless. "Heh, good luck with that," he wished her, wondering if she was going to have her head bitten off by Ally, just as he had that particular morning.

Sirius turned towards his best mate, as he took a seat next to him, and gave him a wide grin. This felt right, this particular moment, when they were all at the Gryffindor table, everyone healthy, and... well, not everyone. He noticed James' sweeping look, and inadvertently looked for Ms. Evans, as well, but she wasn't there. Kind of odd, he thought as he drank some milk to go with the toast beforehand.

"Whatever it is, I hope it's not Potions..." Sirius offered his opinion, pondering that taking his luck into consideration, this meant that it very likely was Potions that they were going to have first.

Lily felt suddenly guilty that she had not been there to spend her summer with him, like they had for so many before it. But when Severus spoke of his parents she looked up at him sharply. She grabbed his hand with her small one and pulled him around to face her.
"Severus, don't talk like that." she said quietly, her green eyes soft once again. "I know they are awful and completely unpleasant, but they are your parents. As much as Petunia hate me and bothers me I would never wish anything bad upon her, and you musn't your family either, that's what seperated us from worse, bad people." she said, slightly concerned with Severus more recent obsession with dark arts and revenge against those who fouled him.
"And I am sorry that I wasn't ther to spend the summer with you, I rather think that it would have been more enjoyable for both of us had you not spent it alone and had I not been cooped up with Petunia." she said, giving him a small smile as they rounded the corner, the doors to the Great Hall now in view.

lol, also does anyone think we should add regulus in as a character? doesnt matter to me, i wasnt sure how key of a character to the plot he'd be. lemme no.

Molly headed down to the Great Hall and sat with the others, quickly placnig some food on her plate. She looked around and noticed that a certain red head was missing.
"Where's Lily?" she asked to no one in particular.

Severus did nothing as he was spun round and found himself staring into Lily's shockingly green eyes, and holding her hand. He listened, with a bitter scowl, to every word his best friend said. Though, soon after she began talking, Severus was lost, simply staring into her eyes, as though they were the only thing in the universe. Reality came back with an unpleasant snap when he realized what Lily was saying. Had anyone else spoken to him like that(not that anyone else knew of his family situation), Snape would have cursed them and laughed. He didn't like being lectured. But this wasn't just anyone, so he simply muttered, "Fine. But mostly everyone in the school will happily inform you that I am a bad person no matter what I do."
Lily's next statement made him grin. "I wanted to spend it with you too. Especially if you had to be with Petunia," he said softly, rubbing a pale finger over Lily's soft knuckles.
Nearly groaning out loud, Snape stared at the door of the Great Hall apprehensively. "I guess this is goodbye for now," he said sadly, letting go of Lily's hand and changing his dissappointed expression to his uniform emotionless one.

"Ya I guess I'll see you later then?" she said, throwing her arms around his neck one last time for a quick goodbye hug, then she turned and headed into the Great Hall and towards the Gryffindor table.

Severus smiled and embraced Lily warmly.
"Yes, we must meet up some time soon. In the forest, if we must," he answered, stepping back from Lily. He watched sadly as she left, deciding to wait a few minutes before entering, so as not to make anyone suspect they came to the Great Hall together.

Lily entered tge Great Hall, tossing her long red hair back out of her face as she sat down next to Molly at the Gryffindor table.
"Hey guys." she said to whomever heard it.
She looked over at the door to see if Severus had come in yet...probably smart of him to wait so it didn't seem like they had come in together.

Snape edged through the door, his eyes instantly going to the Gryffindor table, first to Lily - who, despite having just spoken to her, he already missed - then to those around her. He was checking for just how many enemies where there. There were certainly enough. He walked to his table quickly and sat down in the most isolated seat he could find.

Lily flashed Severus a small smile but was not sure he would see it, she turned back to her food and grabbed an apple, nibbling at it feebily. She looked up just as the morning owls flew into the great hall and was pleased to see her snowy owl Artemis fly down with her daily prophet. She untied the paper and fed him a few bites of bacon before he flew off towards the owlery.

Lily quickly scanned the front page for anything intersting before engrossing herself in the newspapers content.

Severus, strangely oblivious to Lily's smile, glared at someone who had just sat down next to him. The nerve of some people, he thought, shaking his head sadly. Severus hated eating next to people. He found it uncomfortable.

Lily quickly scanned her newspaper, looking for anything interesting or out of the ordinary, but all seemed to be well in the wizarding world. She set down the newspaper and sipped her pumpkin juice, aware of how quiet everyoe was being this morning.

Remus, sipping at his pumpkin juice and lightly biting at his toast, looked over as Lily entered and sat by them. "Good morning, Lily." He said softly, in reply with a curt nod.

Silently scanning the paper she was looking through he asked, "Anything interesting today?" particularly curious as he reached for another piece of sausage.
