'Finally, someone who realised me.' Arkady thought happily as she shook his hand. And maan, the girl was hot. She had that self confident aura about boys. Arkady was carried away while shaking hands and he was just staring into her eyes when she said her name, Leslee. She had said somethings else, but it was the first time Arkady had heard French accent. And he didn't understand a thing. He could just make out "Name is Leslee." part and he just stared stupidly, something he seldomly did. He wasn't sure the reason he couldn't understand was whether he was too into her eyes or because he wasn't used to French accent, or both.

He shook his head to clear it off and after some seconds of thinking wise to say, he opened his mouth when the headmaster talked. He then shut it up and turned to Headmaster, already in his prefect mode. Oh... a ball. Wait--something was wrong. A ball without a partner? Nobody'd find a partner and then what, just sitting and wishing for someone to come and ask for a dance? It was true that he wasn't really good at girlfriend stuff but he knew enough that minutes would not pass in a ball without a partner, especially when no one had one.

Arkady didn't join the cheers too. "A ball without a partner?" he frowned and asked while turning back to Leslee. She seemed to be thinking the same. And Arkady was carrying the slightest hope that maybe she would... but he wasn't that lucky, or more rightly, that charming and interesting to get such a girl.



Dunya was very bored because she wasn't talking to anyone. She was just staring at her reflection on spoon and wondering where were Sarchiy and Arkady when the headmaster started his speech. Cool, a ball! Where she can meet many people and hopefully break her bad luck about boys. But--but... without a partner? She stared at the headmaster again but he was already finished. It wouldn't be fun then! Boys would get too shy to ask for a dance and they all would be sitting boredly. Blah. She got desperate again...

Her stomach gave a growl when suddenly food appeared. And yay, there were Russian food too! Her mood lifted as she reached for some Russian food.

OOC: A question: as we don't have any younger students, if Dunya wants to ask sth to him, I'll RP the boy again, right?

Leslee refrained from chuckling at his expression, not sure exactly what was confusing him, but thinking it funny all the same. It does seem a leetle bit odd, no? As eef anyone would choose to come alone. She laughed slightly and smiled at him.

Arkady fully recovered his stupid face and tried to find a wise answer to her statement. For example, he would never want to go alone but it seemed like he would have to. Too bad he was never good at this kind of stuff. He decided to laugh and joke about it. "Yeah... For example, I'm dying too go alone."

Leslee finally understood that he was being sarcastic and laughed at his joke. She smiled and said, Well, of course, people will 'ave to go alone, but I don't think most people would choose to, is all. Of course, some might. She shrugged slightly, still smiling. He was very, very cute.

'Whaat? She just laughed at my joke!' Arkady thought as his heart beating got faster with excitement. She was even prettier when she smiled. But, no... didn't the headmaster said 'Partners are not a requirement, but you can have one...' "I tink we can bring a partnerh, just that tish not an obligatory." He sensed if he talked smoothly, he'd get the chance to invite Leslee to the ball... only if he was brave enough. And of course, if she liked him. He knew it was too early for a relationship, and he wasn't sure if he was ready, but at least he wanted to be friends.

Leslee smiled and nodded. Yes, not... obligatory. She giggled slightly, not really knowing what it meant, but getting the overall gist. She didn't get the really big English words that much, but she was learning fast. She smiled at him, not very used to guys with such long hair, but finding that she really liked it.

"So um..." Arkady started but couldn't know how to finish. He took a spoonfull meatballs instead to gain some time to think about something clever. Aha. A question. He gulped it and asked "Iz dish your first time in the UK?" Better to change the subject not to find himself in a very embarrassing situation.

Leslee barely concealed a grin as Arkady couldn't find anything to say. She was sort of used to it, but no one had ever done it so.... cutely. No, actually. My grandparents uzed to leeve in London. We visited once or twize when I was leetle. She smiled. What about you?

Oh, French accent was hard to understand. And now, Arkady was in that "hard" situation in front of a pretty girl. He could only make out "grand parents... in London. We visited... you?" He wasn't even used to British accent and he was talking to a French girl! He thought for two seconds to figure out what she had possibly meant and another three seconds to prepare his sentences' grammar and stuff. "Noh, I haven't been abroad before. Of course iff you don't count sum autonomuz republics in Russhia."

Leslee giggled again, talking to someone with an unfamiliar accent was challenging, but she really liked it. I don't reemember much, though, so eet's almost like being here for ze first time. She shrugged slightly, unable to stop smiling. She was liking him more and more by the minute.

Now, Arkady had understood more. "Then I guesh your grandparenths moved?" he asked. "To Fransh?" 'Well, of course they're gonna move to France... Where else would they go, to Sri Lanka?!' Another stupidity of Arkady. This girl was too cute for him to basically think.

Leslee's smile widened slightly, but she shook her head. They deecided to move to Amereeca, actually. She sighed very slightly, having always wanted to visit, but never being able to. She quickly resumed her smile, though.

Oh, right. America. Nowaday's fashion. Arkady didn't know any place there besides Hollywood so he didn't even bother to ask where. "Any otter foreign country have you visitet?" he asked with a rubbish sentence. He should have practised more as he was a grammar freak. But now he was having bigger problems, he might have been boring Leslee very much. "Oh, iff I'm being boreng, you can change di subject. Just I'm curiuz as I haven't been too abroad befor." he added quickly. He didn't want to seem like a very boring person for he had some hopes to ask her out to the ball.

Leslee shook her head again - still smiling of course - and said, No, just heere. She was buttering herself a piece of bread when she replied with a laugh, No, eet's absolutely fine - I like talking about theengs - well, pretty much I just like talking. She smiled.

For Blair, the news of the ball was no huge surprise, but that didn't make her any less excited. She smiled, her eyes scanning over the other students in the Great Hall, then they flashed back up to the professor's table. Her mind brewed with thoughts as she turned back to the food before her.

Deedee looked around her and leaning over Dmitri, she saw Blair sitting not far away. "Hey Blair!" She called at her waving. "Sorry Dmitri." She added as her hand slightly brushed his neck.

Leslee kept smiling all the time and she was so pretty. Arkady knew he should find Dunya but he couldn't keep his eyes off Leslee. "Oh, glad I don't bore you." he said and trailed off, again not knowing how to continue. He was never a social person and so, he could never come up with interesting topics.

Leslee, who had begun munching on the bread laughed slightly again and smiled at him, not knowing exactly what to say at the moment but wanting to say something. Of course not.... so do you like heere in the UK? she asked finally.

"Hiya, Deedee," Blair smiled, waving back at the girl. It was nice how Deedee was so upbeat all the time; not that all the students in the Great Hall weren't overjoyed right about now, seeing as they just found out they're having a ball, but still. Blair could always count on Adrianna to stay optimistic about things. She released a quiet laugh as she noticed her friend's hand swipe the neck of a nearby Durmstrang.

"It's fine," Dmitri assured her, as he wondered how to take this news of the ball. Would he go? Yes, he must go. It was the polite thing, after all. And his curiousity would certainly end up getting the better of him, one way or another. He looked back up to Deedee as she was waving to a friend. "Do you have a person you intend to take to this ball?"

"Nope." Deedee answered Dmitri simply, she had no idea who she was going to ask to the ball although she would've preffered it if someone would ask her first. She hadn't thought about that point until now, come to think of it. "What about you?" She asked him, not knowing why she was.

Arkady could finally spot Dunya, who looked rather bored at Slytherin table while she was just eating her meal, not talking to anyone. But before he could make an eye contact, Leslee talked and he had to give full attention to catch what she was saying. "Oh, well..." he thought for a while. "It iz definitely warmr than Russia, so I guesh this iz nice... But I'm not fond off their cuisine, and I don't fink any Russian likes it at all. How abboucha?"

Dunya was extremely bored at Slytherin table because she wasn't talking to anyone, anyone at all! She was just eating her food and she was taking her time not to finish earlier and then just stare around. She thought going to another school would be awesome but she was very disappointed as it turned out that no one wanted to talk to her. She saw Arkady talking to another girl and smiled to herself. At least Arkady was enjoying this.

OOC: Seriously though, why is NO ONE at Slytherin table? I mean c'mon, just because Voldy is from there doesn't make Slytherin a total evil place!

Hanz noticed a girl who seemed new at the Slytherin table, she was sitting alone eating her food. He glanced at Deedee and saw her nod at him encourging him to approach the girl. He got up from the Gryffindor table and walked slowly towards her, hoping that this will be easy enough. "May I join you?" He asked her smiling.

"I haven't asked anyone.." Dmitri answered, lining the rim of his glass with his forefinger. His dark eyes turned up to look at Deedee. "Maybe - if you don't end up going with someone else - you'd consider going with me, then?" He offered a polite smile, but tried to remove any sense of pressure from his words; the last thing he wanted was for her to accompany him when really she would have rather gone with someone else, or her friends perhaps. Patiently, he waited for her answer, and although he appeared perfectly calm on the outside, inwardly he felt a bit more fidgety than he was used to.

Leslee nodded slightly at his words, though it was taking her a bit of effort to make out everything he was saying. She laughed as she picked up part of it. That ees funny - eet ees much colder 'ere than een France, you see. I do not liike thee food much eether. I find eet a beet to 'eavy for my liiking. She smiled slightly, finding she was enjoying the conversation very much.

Dunya was so into her food that she didn't notice the boy who had just talked to her. She'd heard his voice but didn't think it was directed to her as no one seemed interested in her. But as the boy stood there, she looked up and saw that he was smiling. She immediately tried to cover that bored face, "I--uh..." she stuttered. What had he just said? Must be a 'May I join you?', because he was smiling... But also he might have just introduced himself. Oh well... She tried her best and said "I'm Avdotya..." She smiled politely. "Come, sit." She added after a while. As he was standing, it sounded a wise thing to say...

Wow, Arkady had thought French people would like the food here. And also was glad that he wasn't the only one who saw everything different. "Glad they hav cooket some Russian food az well. And I haven't tried any French food yet... Which do youu suggesht?" He couldn't believe how people were wrong about French. They weren't a bit cold, they were very friendly. He wished this feast would never end.
