| | Judging you, judging me. Two second years. One a judgemental Slytherin. The other a judgemental Gryffindor. These legacy children don't get along, so what could possibly go wrong when they bump into each other on the pathways at the beginning of term? Characters:
Billie Love Stemp (Harron Peasley)
Elias Greenwood (Lottipot) This is a CLOSED RP exploring the second year of the mentioned characters. |

| HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more Elias wasn’t typically the outside kind of boy. Sports didn’t interest him, with the exception of Dragons he wasn’t particularly fond of nature and he much preferred intellectual pursuits over ‘playing’. Today, with the weather remaining somewhat warm after a mild August and having spent far too long a time in the depths of the Slytherin Common Room, he had ventured to the grounds to take a meander along the pathway.
Eli’s time at Hogwarts hadn’t been as dire as he had initially made it out to be but that didn’t mean he was overly happy about being back at the school. He had seriously considered begging his mum to home educate him, to be placed in an environment where he didn’t have to deal with the rambunctious screams of his fellow students, where he was educated on what he wanted to be taught rather than the absolute nonsense (in his opinion) that some of the Professors sprouted out. He had quickly changed his mind however when he realised that would mean spending more time with his Grandfather. No matter how much he loved him, that man was intimidating.
Following the pathway down to the Great Lake, he kept one eye out for the presence of the Giant Squid. He had been most disappointed that the squid was overly humanised, he had been hoping to witness it thrashing its tentacles around and squirting at the irritating giggling swarms that congregated around the hallways in revenge. Instead Bartholomew, a terrible name he thought, was usually found basking in the sunshine. His presence wasn’t there today and so the second year perched himself on a rock for a second whilst he contemplated his next steps.

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. The sun was shining and, worried that it would be overtaken by clouds and rain all too soon, Billie was making the most of the mild weather. If she had to pick a season, she would probably chose fall - but it was definitely the idea of autumn that she loved. The colours - maroons and reds and oranges, the cosy layers and scarves and cute hats, Halloween and Bonfire Night and pumpkin spiced lattes. In reality, though, autumn didn't live up to its reputation: more often than not it was dark and gloomy, with weather that couldn't make up its mind. And Billie hated the rain.
But that was a worry for another day. For now she was out in the grounds, dancing her way along the path. The second year loved being at Hogwarts for the most part, but there were some things that she missed and that included dancing. Having taken classes since she could remember, she almost wanted to petition Hogwarts to add it to the curriculum. But until that happened she had to make the most of summer school, and then practicing on her own once September arrived.
Which was how she stumbled (or, rather sashayed) upon Elias. Immediately her mouth dropped into a scowl, but her humming only increased in volume. And she knew he'd probably complain, but she wasn't going to stop just because of him.

| HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more Elias could’ve quite easily ignored that there was another person present near him if it wasn’t for the loud humming irritating his ears. It wasn’t even like the humming was bad but it was the principle of it disturbing the peace he had found himself by avoiding other people. The sound of the gentle waves of the lake lapping onto the shoreline was pleasant, other students were not.
And yet when he glanced up from his contemplation, his face did not morph into its usual disappointed scowl upon seeing who it was. To explain, there was some bad blood between the pair although there was no true reason behind the animosity other than clashing personalities. Elias considered others a hindrance, he felt no need for forming friendships in order to get through Hogwarts. There were a few that he considered acquaintances and whose company he could tolerate, Billie was not quite on that list yet but there was something about her stubbornness and lack of reaction to his judgement unlike some other girls in their year he had apparently made cry. It almost impressed him. “You’re far too happy.”

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. If Elias knew the truth, maybe his opinion of Billie would get worse: the only reason she hadn't cried or run away from him was because she was stubborn. Stubborn, hot-headed and liable to cry at every emotion, it was only a matter of her stubborness winning that day. Quite frankly, crying whenever she was frustrated or angry just made her more frustrated and angry, and it became a vicious and embarrassing cycle. Apparently she needed to be more resilient, but it wasn't HER fault her tear ducts came into play!
As for her opinions on the boy, they were probably better left unsaid. He was one of the few people that she thought of as too stuck up for his own good. She thought he was possibly terrible at making friends, and therefore it didn't surprise her that he had none. Had she known that he didn't want them? Well, if that were the case she would have been judging him even harder.
With a pirouette, Billie turned to face him, her humming only increasing in volume as he spoke. She carried it on for a few seconds longer, executing a well timed plié as she stopped. "Spoken like someone who wants people to be miserable."

| HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more Stubborness was certainly a trait that the pair had in common. He would be a hypocrite if he let that change his opinion however being a hypocrite wasn’t something that he was immune from. In fact a lot of the traits that Elias spent judging on others were present in his own personality. But of course he considered himself far above everyone else that he didn’t think that those were negatives.
His eyebrow raised in that typical cocky way as he watched Billie do whatever it was that she was doing. Showing off probably. “I never said I want everyone to be miserable, I just don’t want you all to shove it in my face.” They can all be perpetually happy in their private time faaaaar away from him. Preferably in the privacy of their dorm rooms and not in the middle of the Slytherin Common Room. He’d lost count of the amount of time he’d had to scowl until they’d shut up or left. It was like there was a sickly sugar epidemic going on amongst the second years.

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. "I was hardly 'shoving it in your face." The retort was quick, with Billie drawing herself up to her full (and not very impressionable) height (5'1"). She matched Elias' raised eyebrow with one of her own as her hands found her hips, and tried to exude the energy that she was important and right.
Because she was.
"This is a public space. If you want to be miserable and complain about people being happy, go and do it somewhere else," she huffed a little, irritated by his attitude and completely missing that her direction was at odds with her 'public space' statement. "Except I think you want to see other people being happy, just so you can complain. What a miserable existence."

| HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more Elias came from a long line of very tall, very dark haired and extremely imposing wizards resulting in a lanky legged and quick growing boy who had already hit 5’4 by his (almost) thirteenth birthday. Still it wasn’t his height that made him appear so unapproachable but the constant arrogant expression that graced his face even upon resting, the type that would look down their noses at others. And half the time it wasn’t even like Eli knew he was doing it, it just sort of came naturally.
The other half of the time there was a sort of sneer or smirk, especially when others felt compelled to answer him back. It almost felt like a challenge, those that ran off crying or couldn’t hold their ground were just.. annoying. At the end of the day, despite being an arrogant and conceited little butt at times, he was still a young boy and his mind was impressionable. The semi-smirk was present as Billie argued back, his eyes following her as she folded her arms onto her hips and huffed at him. “You sound like a thestral when you huff..” he retorted, also completely ignoring any relevant point she might have construed in said argument. If that was what this little back-and-forth could be called? “I’m not miserable. I’m perfectly content sat here in the silence not being disturbed.” I.E. Before she arrived. The ironic thing was that now she was here, he didn’t want her to leave. Elias was brought up in a very large, very powerful family and he was used to having others around him. Even if they did grate on his nerves.

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. If he'd been older, there might have been the chance that Billie would like his smirk. But if he'd been older, there would also have been the chance she never would have spoken to him, and so maybe that would have been the deciding factor on whether she liked his smirk: certainly she liked it when some of the older boys smirked, but she'd never spoken to them. Though she had to admit, she doubted anyone could be as rude and irritating as Elias was. Half the time she wanted to smack that smirk right off his face.
The other half, she wanted to stomp her foot or cry. Today she was in a smacking kind of mood, especially when he said she sounded like a thestral. "How dare you?" she managed with a gasp, fingers digging into her hips so they didn't curl into fists. "Did no one ever tell you if you've not got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?" It was a rule she didn't follow often, of course, but when it came to people talking about her, it was golden. Gritting her teeth so she didn't stomp her feet, she cast around for another retort. "Or did you just not listen, because you think you're better than everyone? Well guess what, Elias? You're NOT."
Okay, so not the best she could have come up with, but she was FRUSTRATED.
"Well, it's a free country, so you can go and find silence somewhere else." Because even if she wanted to storm away from him, she was nothing if not stubborn.

If he truly thought about it, Thestrals weren’t exactly a negative creature to be compared to. Yes they weren’t the prettiest and they had close associations with death but they were majestic and Billie shouldn’t have been that offended by the comparison, although her reaction was somewhat amusing. Had he called her a Dementor then she could’ve glared at him but that was more of a description of Elias when he was forced to socialise with those he didn’t want to. “Stop huffing like a horse then” he rolled his eyes into the back of his head.
As for not saying anything nice, the Greenwood family weren’t the type to teach their children such trivial matters when there were other more important things to be discussed. “No,” he simply responded. His mother had tried to instill some manners in the siblings of which seemingly worked on older brother Ezra but whose teachings entirely flew over the Slytherin’s head. It was yet to be seen which of the brothers his younger siblings would take after. “I AM better than most” he retorted rather arrogantly. It was important to point out that he had stated most and not all as that was growth for the second year who when he had first arrived at Hogwarts HAD considered himself way above his peers. There were a few that had captured his respect however, he was working on it. “I was here first.” Naturally that meant that SHE would have to leave HIM alone and not the other way around. “Haven’t you heard of finders keepers? I found this spot and so now it is mine.” He didn’t do sharing.

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. "I am not 'huffing like a horse'!" Billie insisted, with another huff. So maybe she was huffing, but her huffs were NOTHING like horses, let alone thestrals. Of course, she'd never actually even seen a thestral beyond a drawing, let alone heard what they may have sounded like, and she counted herself incredibly lucky on that fact. It didn't dawn on her to be sad for Elias, if he knew what a thestral sounded like, though.
The second year was surprised - if Corbin had managed to instil some manners into his daughters (one more successfully than the other, and Billie was not the achievement), then she would have assumed most other parents would had been better at it. But maybe she was giving her dad a bad rap - her grandparents, after all, we're incredible. And she supposed he'd done a much better job with her and Brayla than Tommy. (She neglected to remember that her father hadn't brought his son up, of course). As for him being better than other people, that just had Billie rolling her eyes. "Yeah, right," she scoffed. "Is that why you've got no friends?" It was a terrible thing to say, really, and something she would feel incredibly guilty about later, but for now she was Annoyed. With a capital A.
"Finders keepers doesn't work on a public space, Ellie," she pointed out, a hint of sass in her voice. "You didn't 'find' this particular area - everyone in the castle knows about it."

| HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more Elias smirked as she huffed again, solidifying the point that he was making. “You did it again” he argued back. Thankfully the thirteen year old didn’t actually have the ability to see Thestrals and was only going by what he had read in books and his imagination. There would be no need to feel sorry for him in that department. ‘Is that why you have no friends?’
It might have sounded harsh and abrasive to the innocent onlooker but the question was exactly what Elias needed to hear. The reason behind having very few ‘friends’ was entirely of his own accord. And he might’ve made himself out to look as if he didn’t care, that having friends would only be a distraction to achieving his perfect goals, that others were beneath him and therefore ‘unworthy’ of his time, but for a brief second if she were to look closely Billie might have spotted a flicker of an emotion that wasn’t distaste on the second years face. Was it.. hurt?
As quickly as it arrived, the emotion was rapidly brushed off and replaced with one of disinterest. “I don’t need friends” he retorted. What he needed, or at least what he thought he needed, was to live up to the expectations of a very powerful grandfather. Elias wasn’t the eldest, he didn’t have a family business to fall back on if he was unable to achieve anything less than perfect. What he needed was to be g r e a t and having a vivid social life didn’t align to that aspiration. “You don’t need to be liked in order to be powerful.” Which was true. Being liked would mean putting others before oneself which in his opinion prevented growth. There was many a powerful Wizard throughout history whose ambition outstripped the desire to be around others. Ironically Elias didn’t ACTUALLY like to be on his own, he was from a large family after all, but found that his patience was worn thin when he was.
He could’ve also grown to like Billie. She sassed him back in ways that most other girls didn’t. She was confident and bold and it was somewhat impressive to the Slytherin and could quite easily earn his respect. That was until she called him Ellie and the look that he gave her was akin to a Basilisk’s stare. “Elias.” he hissed, tempted to grab at his wand and send a Bat Bogey Hex in her direction but hesitating when another student passed by the nearby vicinity. Anything else she had said was ignored in the frustration of the name calling.

| Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space. "Just because I did it doesn't mean it sounds like a thestral!" Billie was adamant about that point, however she did refrain from huffing again despite wanting to. It was difficult not to, when Elias was as frustrating as he was, and insulting her. And his comments would go one of two ways - either she'd leave this interaction and never think of them again, or she'd find herself huffing in front of the mirror just to make sure he didn't have a point. At this moment, it might well have relied on a coin toss.
There was a moment when she thought that the boys face might have changed, that he expressed another emotion beside indifference, but it was so fleeting and Billie hadn't been paying enough attention to really grasp what it was. She brushed the beginnings of the idea that he might be hurt away before they took root, because he looked as sulky as ever and didn't seem to care. "Maybe not, but it's probably easier," she managed, shrugging. After all, if people liked you they were more likely to do what you said - at least, that was what she thought. "Besides, you're not even powerful, so maybe being liked would be easier."
His reaction at her calling him Ellie was surprising, and it elicited a smirk of her own. "What's wrong, Ellie? Why do you sound like a snake?" Two could play at the comparing you to animals game, and he had practically hissed his name.

| HeadGirlMC | Treddie & Trixiver <3 | Copy Girl | Katie's Ickle Minion | I love YOU more The Slytherin was starting to tire over the Thestral debate. Satisfied that he had made his point perfectly clear and with the constant retorts from his second year, he decided to simply roll his eyes and let her simmer on that thought.
Even if Billie HAD caught that momentary collapse of the battlements he had placed around himself, Elias would’ve completely denied that her words had any impact on him anyway. It would be hypocritical of himself to show that he could be hurt by others words considering that he had such a talent for exposing others to the harshness of his own thoughts and opinions on them. As a young child he used to cry to his mother any time something upset him but as he grew older, his elders would scold him for allowing himself to be vulnerable to attack. He’d learned to never let his guard down. He’d also learned that keeping others far away through spiteful comments and judgemental glances meant that they’d never learn of his own weaknesses. Elias might have been conceited and spoilt and a whole plethora of negative personality traits but it wasn’t all his fault, he was just a child.
Or rather a teenager now which likely only made matters worse. “Who says I’m not powerful?” he retorted, his hand twitching towards his wand secured in its holster. He could happily show her how powerful he was considering the advancements he had made in his hexing abilities. It had been particularly enjoyable sending ‘Densaugeo’ to a group of girls making fun of a first year, not that he’d EVER admit that it was him nor that he did it because he felt sorry for the innocent girl. Gaggles of teenage girls were the worst kinds of people. “I don’t always want to take the easy way out. My Grandfather didn’t, nor did my Great-Grandfather before him and they are incredibly successful Wizards.” He wouldn’t mention his Great-Uncle Oliver who in his opinion took the really easy way out by becoming a Quidditch pro and retiring as soon as he could not Great-Uncle Nathan who rejected the family business to pursue his own dreams.
Did she WANT him to hex her? The way she was going by continuing to call him Ellie she was heading straight for an Instant Scalping Hex and let’s be honest, Elias would take great delight in seeing Billie bald. “Thank you” he smirked. He’d much rather be a snake than a horse.
