Near the food, and with a clear view of the tables for all the party guests, is the table reserved especially for the Board of Governors to sit and bask in warm congratulations. If they're even sitting that is. This celebration IS for them, and so don't be surprised if you find them out enjoying themselves instead of sitting at this table.

Ah, yes, now this was going somewhere. Ivy had an idea of where. "Yes, I do. I taught at Athens Wizarding Institute for nearly nine years, ranging from Charm Theory to Spagyrics." And a few more, of course, but the woman could easily look up that information if she really wanted to.
Annie continued to eye the board member suspiciously. She hadn't seemed this WARM and VOLUNTEERY throughout the campaign trail....
But the redhead did need a charms professor, and this Ivy Knox seemed capable of doing the job. "Tell me, Ms. Knox," the Headmistress smiled a tiny bit, "would you feel comfortable teaching 11 to 17-year-olds without pay for nine months of the year and weekends off?"
She let out a soft laugh after she asked that. Because it was ridiculous to say that out loud. Would Knox really accept? Really??

And there it was... Ivy thought about the proposition. Normally she wouldn't accept such a ridiculous and unfair offer, but considering recent... events, Ivy now had the time, money, and flexibility to accept. Most of her students had been over the age of 17, but... how different could they be, really? At any rate, Ivy had her ways of dealing with students of whatever age.
Ivy smiled at the woman. "I would be honored, Headmistress."

"Thank you, Corin. And congratulations to you too." She gave him a smile and then sat down by Sherman while Dell fetched drinks. Althea gave the Headmistress a smile of greeting too, but she was off and talking and...
...
Althea's expression was one of concern but not panic overhearing the conversation. Perhaps Ivy could fill in? She wasn't about to feel guilt about Dash choosing to leave given his choices were beneficial to their relationship, and with her job obviously she couldn't volunteer.
She smiled immediately when Ivy accepted, glad that the standard would be high for her own former students...
... though it didn't really sound like Ivy to do anything for free and that was suspicious. She'd ask about it later.

Erik caught the look from Ivy and dabbed at his mouth with his napkin. He pushed his plate aside and reluctantly stood up from their table. He followed her over toward the treasurer and the headmistress, arriving just in time to hear the last of their conversation.
Ivy would be honoured to do...vhat, exactly? His eyebrows went up slightly as he got some ideas about what she was volunteering to do. "Anyving I can help vith, also?" he inquired politely.
Not that he wanted to help them, though. Not at all.
Harold wasn't happy with the tone the redhead was using with him but she had a small point. Yes it was his position to know where all the funds were but he DID, it was the third party bank that had screwed up, thus screwing his position.
She would cool down eventually he knew and target her anger, like him, at the bank and criminal behind the act. She was too worried at the moment about teaching positions and assuring him that all of the subjects were important. "Yes, well Cassandra should be able to come up with some things too." He trailed off. The look she gave him when he mentioned not being able to teach was a bit surprising. Did she honestly think he could take on classes with The Three Broomsticks to run and all of this financial disaster?
Suddenly though it seemed they had a fallen angel ready to save them. "Miss Knox, would you seriously do that?" Lagerty asked, after listening intently to the conversation between the two women. Impressive for a new hire.
Another joined their hushed ranks. "Erik, I see you've heard our bad news."No thanks to Headmistress Big-Mouth At least he wanted to help. "You wouldn't happen to be able to teach could you?" He chuckled rather anxiously.

Be able to teach...Erik glanced at Ivy for a moment before answering the bartender/treasurer. "I could, depending on the subject," he replied slowly as an idea took root in his mind. So this was what Ivy had been volunteering for.
Heh. Erik hid his smirk. "Vhat subject do you need coverage for, madame?" he directed this question at the redheaded headmistress.

Ivy smiled at the woman. "I would be honored, Headmistress."
She would be HONORED. Look at that, Hops, Annie seemed to say with a smile a mile wide. She held out her hand for the new Charms professor to take.
"That's settled then, Professor Knox, thank you ever so much for your altruism. I'm sure our students will be very, very grateful to have you as a professor this year." So long as she didn't mess up too much, that was.

Oh my, that handsome board member with the accent had joined their little group now. Annie was starting to wish she had learned how to whisper in school. But... hey, he was offering help too! She'd be a fool to turn down that one.
"It's History of Magic," the Headmistress informed the cool stranger. "Nothing too difficult, just general knowledge of things that might be covered on OWL or NEWT exams." She narrowed her eyes a tiny bit at the man. "They do have OWLs and NEWTs where you're from, Mr. Vinteren, right?"

Well, Mr. Lagerty seemed surprised. Ivy gave him a warm smile. "Of course. I'm a member of the Board of Governors now, it is my responsibility to do what is best for the school." Wasn't she just a wonderful, charitable human being? Yes, yes she was.

Ivy smiled again, but this time it had a hint of a smirk. Professor Knox. She liked hearing that again. "Thank you, Headmistress Truebridge," Ivy said, shaking the woman's hand firmly. "I do believe they will."
And if they wouldn't... Well, she'd just have to teach them an extra lesson or two, wouldn't she?
She easily caught onto Erik's conversation as well and gave him a curious look. Was he going to be following Ivy to Hogwarts? That would certainly be interesting.
"Excellent!" Harold let a small smile play on his mouth as Ivy agreed to fill one of their open spots, with Anastasia's blessing. Whew. One place filled. He shook the woman's hand after the Headmistress and then turned back to Erik.
History of Magic?
"Erik, surely you could handle that subject; what you don't know can be learned. We just helped replace the library last term for Merlin's sake." The Treasurer had smelled the blood that the shark of a Headmistress had, and now the feeding frenzy for free staff members had begun. He slapped the foreign man on the shoulder all friendly-like and spoke again. "You'll help us out, won't you?"
Assuming foreigners had at least some familiarity with standardized testing.

"Yes, ve do have vose same tests in Norway," Erik answered the Headmistress crisply. His gaze flicked to Hops for a moment as the man seemed determined to talk him into taking on this additional responsibility. As though Erik didn't have enough planned for this school year, now it seemed he would be writing lesson plans?
He stifled an inward sigh. "I'd be happy to help you out, Headmistress Truebridge, Mr. Lagerty." Like Ivy, Erik stuck out his hand.

Annie's bright mood from earlier was slowly returning, bit by bit, as things started to look up. So what if the school was still broke... at least she knew she had the Board of Governors backing her now! Two of them had just volunteered for free torture at the hands of students, after all! What could be better?
Being rich. But anyway, Anastasia was going to take this foreigner's offer, so she shook his hand daintily. "Pleasure to have you on staff then, Mr. Vinteren. You and Ms. Knox will have to come in before the term starts to set up your offices and to complete some paperwork, of course. But we do mightily appreciate your volunteering. Thank you SO much."
Whew. What a relief to get that over with, at least.

In return, Ivy shook Harold's hand with a smile for him before turning her attention towards Erik and the Headmistress. So, it looked like they would be partners in crime coworkers at Hogwarts this coming term. Wonderful.
Ivy nodded at the Headmistress. They didn't have a whole lot of time before term started, so she would have to gather her belongings rather soon. "I will be there. It's no problem at all."

Right so the problem of staffing seemed to be taken care of. Harold smiled as brightly as possible to Miss Knox and Mr. Vinteren as they each shook Anastasia's hand and were welcomed to Hogwarts' staff.
Now they just had to solve the VERY BIG problem of the missing funds. "Gringott's knows of the issue at hand and the authorities have been notified." He paused. "The press will no doubt be involved soon, Headmistress."
Damage control time.

"My pleasure," Erik replied quietly to the Headmistress. He gave her hand a strong shake and then released it and tucked his palm back into his pocket. He watched the exchange between the redhead and the bartender, and realised he should probably take his leave.
"We'll be over at vhe table if you need anyving else," Erik spoke up for himself and Ivy. He gave his partner in crime new coworker a look and then guided her away from the other Governors and back to the table. They had much to discuss.

Ivy was just about to politely excuse herself from the Headmistress, but Erik was a half-step ahead of her. She gave her and the Treasurer a parting smile before her face resumed its more normal... not-really-smiley look after she turned away from them.
Well, this was something else. Ivy took her seat again and simply waited for Erik to say something. Surely he did have something to say about their new jobs. It wasn't something Ivy had been planning, but more of a spur of the moment thing. She had those sometimes.
