After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

Tara gave Severus a grateful look when he proposed they explore another time. She really needed to get used to having a daughter that wanted to be into everything. So much for a quiet life. She watched him move to the counter to pay, and he stopped to speak to the man.

Although they were too far away to overhear, their conversation was plain enough. Severus knew the man, and the man could read their relationship simply in the way they interacted. He looked familiar to Tara, but she couldn't place his gaunt face. It certainly wasn't someone she knew personally.

Finally, Severus returned and the three of them left the pub. Dani skipped ahead, peering into the windows of the shops in excitement. As she stood pressed against the Honeydukes window, Tara wanted to call her back to them. She refrained, knowing it would upset her and worry her unnecessarily.

"I wonder sometimes if I brought her out of a life that was better than this one. Safer. More familiar. More stable."

Ginny looked at Harry in a long, measured way before answering. "I just snapped at everyone and stormed out of the garden. Ring a bell?"

"She wasn't safe where she was, either," Snape replied as he watched Dani at the window.

He took hold of Tara's arm and led her over to the shop. "Perhaps we can buy you something dessert before we head back," he said, opening the door.

"Alanna loved Dani in her own way," Tara didn't know why she defended her sister. It still appalled her that the woman had somehow twisted things all these years, keeping her from Dani and yet not lettting this lovely little girl be all that she was. "At least there she was safe from Voldemort and Death Eaters." She watched Dani touch everything in the entire store. "Not those, love. Those are blood-flavored." The girl dropped it as if burned and moved on to the chocolates. "Oh... she DOES take after me," Tara grinned, pulling on Snape's arm to join Dani.

Snape said nothing about the comments Tara had made about Death Eaters. She would have been safe, even at Hogwarts, from them. It wasn't being brought into the wizarding world which had brought the danger, it was being associated with him that brought danger. He glanced outside the shop and was relieved Rodolphus hadn't followed him. But, before he could take another look, Tara was pulling on his arm.

He looked over Dani's shoulder at the sweets and grabbed a couple of small cakes off the top shelf. "I'm going to take a wild guess and say you both wnat something chocolate."

Tara stepped close to Snape, enjoying his proximity. She peered up into his face with smoky eyes. "You spoil us, Professor. If I had known what goods I could get from you, I would have forced you to enjoy my annoying company much earlier. I'm not sure what you get out of this," she gestured to the two of them, "but I hope you know this is more than the things you buy to me."

Snape looked down at Tara and smiled as he ran and finger down her cheek. "And I hope you understand that I am in no way attempting to buy your affections," he replied. "I get more than I deserve out fo this relationship, Tara."

Tara's heart soared and her lips parted. "I..." She stopped, shocked at what she had been about to say. It was too soon to feel anything so strongly. She simply stared at Snape for several moments, wondering if she was reacting to the moment or if she did in fact love Severus Snape, grouchy Potions Master and former servant and spy to the Dark Lord. Her attention was drawn to Dani, who hissed at her about how yucky they were being.

Snape couldn't help the amused smirk which spread across his face at Dani's reaction. He was quite pleased to note that being with Tara and Dani hadn't dulled his appreciation for the more amusing reactions of children. He placed a hand on Dani's head and tilted it up so she could look at him. "I gather you don't really know the meaning of "yucky." Perhaps, one day, you can help me prepare some potions ingredients," he replied, giving her a little push back towards the candy.

Dani's face lit up and she looked to her mother for approval. "Tomorrow? Can I help you tomorrow? Mum said that she was going to have to figure out my schooling pretty soon, but Potions is part of school right? I know how to do things. I can mix and pour. I have never blown anything up." She looked up at him hopefully and Tara turned quickly to look at the shelves of candy so she wouldn't be seen laughing.

Tara didn't want Dani to think she was laughing at her when in reality she was laughing at the knowledge that the serious Professor Snape had an 8-year-old girl as his biggest fan. She caught sight of a familiar face as she turned however, causing her smile to disappear. "Sev..." She gestured with her head at the man from the pub who was leaning almost casually by the front door.

Snape was saved from answering Dani when Tara turned his attention to his old friend standing in the doorway. He took Dani by the hand and brought her over to her mother, handing Tara some money to pay for whatever sweets they wanted. "I'll be just a moment... Hopefully," he said, walking over to Lestrange. "What is it?"

"What do you mean, 'what is it?' You didn't introduce me to your new lady friend. Is she an old aquaintence?" Rodolphus asked, raising his eyebrows as he grinned and nodded toward Dani.

Snape sighed. "She is an old aquaintence but, no, the child is not mine."

"Pity. Nevertheless, Bella and I would like to meet her and the child. She must be quite the woman to have attracted a recluse such as yourself. I'm sure the Dark Lord would like to hear of your newfound relationship, as well. She is on our side, isn't she?"

"I'm sure the Dark Lord has more important things to worry about than my social life," Snape spoke, dangerously. "As for meeting with you and your lovely wife, I'm not sure we'll have the time. I am going out of town and will need to use the rest of my time preparing for the start of term. Now, if you will excuse me, Rodolphus, I'm quite busy."

Lestrange grinned, knowingly. "I'll leave you to it, then, after you have at least introduced us."

Knowing his former friend would not be dissuaded and that denying him the introduction could prove worse than the meeting, Snape nodded. "Very well," he said, and the two men walked over to where Tara was standing with Dani.

Tara looked up from the checkout stand, pocketing the change, and found that Snape was approaching her with the man in tow. She wanted to demand that he rethink what he was doing, but all she could do was step forward to meet them, putting her body between the men and Dani. She raised an eyebrow expectantly and wondered if she could make herself look any more boring and invisible so that this man would forget they'd ever met.

"Rodolphus, I'd like you to meet, Tara. Tara, Rodolphus," Snape sighed, not liking this one bit.

Rodolphus reached out and grabbed Tara's hand and lifted it to his lips. "A pleasure to meet you," he gushed with a short bow.

"Are you quite finished?" Snape sneered, anxious to get Lestrange away from Tara and Dani.

"Oh, but I haven't met the young lady," Rodolphus said, side-stepping to see Dani standing behind Tara. "And you are?"

Dani watched her mother wipe off her hand as if something disgusting had touched her and attempt to step in between them again. Dani poked her head around her mother and smiled at him. "I'm Danika Marie Sinistra. I'm a witch."

Snape sighed and pulled on Lestrange's shoulder. "I'm afraid, Rodolphus that we have to be back up to the castle soon so, if you would allow us to make our purchase and move on?"

Rodolphus smiled, "Of course, I'll see you later, Severus."

Snape watched as his old friend left and then, turned back to Tara. "I'm sorry about that," he said, and then, stepped up to the counter to pay.

"Oh, right, that..." Harry messed up his hair out of habit. "But... why did you snap, exactly... I mean... what WAS wrong...? I don't get it..." He said, trying to say it in the least offensive way possible. Of course, because Ginny was female, it was probably something stupid like her hair was sticking up at the wrong angle or something.

Tara waited until they were outside the store before she spoke again. She made Dani walk by her side and she kept her voice low. "LeStrange, Severus? How can he get away with walking about in public like that? I thought he looked familiar, but surely someone will recognize him." She reached out and lightly touched Dani's shoulder, wishing they'd stayed in the kitchens to eat.

"I don't know, Harry," Ginny stomped her foot and turned away from him again. "I'm just tired of being stuck in this stupid house, waiting for the other shoe to drop, waiting for Fred or George to either kill me accidently or get killed in their foolishness, waiting and waiting..." Her voice got loud and she slumped into a chair, still refusing to look at him.

"They've all been getting away with a lot more lately. I just didn't think they'd be in Hogsmeade of all places. I'm sorry for the introduction but, I'm afraid it would have been worse had I denied him. I still don't think you are in any danger but... When did you plan on leaving for Italy?" he asked as they continued to walk up toward the castle.

Tara looked at him from the corner of her eye. "August. We usually don't go until the end of August, just before Dani had to go back to school and I had to begin to prepare for the term. I suppose going a few weeks early wouldn't hurt, but... why?" She guided Dani towards the castle with a light fingertip on her back.

"It is entirely possible that we will be invited to a dinner party," Snape replied. "I would rather not subject you to one of those, if we can help it. I can make excuses but, the more I make, especially about something like this, more suspicious it seems. I'm fortunate that it would not be out of character for me to attempt to keep my private life, private. But, there are certain.. formalities, that might be expected."

"Formalities such as these dinner parties you speak of?" Tara considered it for a moment. "I'm not poor company, Severus. I can hold my own conversationally. I don't lie well, but I'm comfortable enough in dodging the truth. If this is something necessary to the Order, I'm more than capable of doing whatever you ask of me to make it work. Wouldn't going to Italy look to Voldemort as if you were running away?"

"Yes, well, I would just rather you didn't have to attend, though I appreciate your willingness. As to your last point, I don't think it would be suspicious at all as I intend to tell him I am leaving for... what is it? a couple weeks? If I neglected to inform him at all, that would raise suspicions," Snape said as they reached the oak front doors.

Tara let Snape open the doors for them and stepped into the cool half-light of the Entrance Hall. Several weeks? And here she was a bit nervous about spending one week with him, and he wanted to lengthen their stay. "Well, I suppose you should go ahead and let him know, although I don't know what will be different when we get back. They'll still want to pull me into their social settings like some sort of trick krup."

"It's easier to avoid this social engagements once the term has begun. I never attend when school is in session because it might look suspicious to Dumbledore and they don't want to lose their spy inside Hogwarts," Snape said, holding the door open for Tara.
