After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

"I'm alright....I just held my breath for a couple of blocks." Fred pushed himself up to a sitting position and pulled Hermione by her hand down to sit with him. "You don't need to be standing up, "Fred said nodding towards the curse filled street. "I think Aurors have showed up, George. We need to get them back to Grimmauld, "he said gesturing to Hermione and Harry. "I don't know what to do about Ginny, but the shop is no longer safe.....we can't do anything from here." Not even thinking twice about it, Fred grabbed Hermione's hand and pulled her behind the register, George and Harry crawling behind them. Fred grabbed his stomach and said, "We'll have to Apparate from here.....Just concentrate hard, and it should be the same. George and I have done it, so I'm sure you two can." ANd with four loud cracks, the four of them were back safely to Grimmauld, one less than what they started with...

Once they landed on the floor in Grimmauld place, Harry set off in a fury, running about the house looking for Ginny, hoping desperately that she would be there. Hermione stayed sitting on the floor with Fred, who was clutching his stomache, and George. "Are you sure you're alright?" Hermione asked Fred, then shifting her eyes to George as if to ask the same question. She wanted to ask them before they started taking off after Harry, looking for Ginny.

"That's understandable," Ginny said in a sensible tone. They had been foolish to go out. She recognized that; in fact, she'd always recognized it but had let her pride and anger overwhelm her common sense. "I... I'm sorry for what I said in the corridor. I was frustrated, but I had no right to bring up your personal life. For what its worth, Professor Sinistra is a very intelligent woman and seems to have a sweet-disposition. I'm sure you'll be very happy together." Turning to Malfoy, she studied his pale features. "Is HE going to be okay?"

"I'm fine," George grumped, then proceeded to take several minutes just to get to his feet. "My rib hurts. I'll just... go find Ginny." He wanted to find his sister, and he wanted to escape from Fred who was going crazy over some girl. Fred and George had not had a great number of serious girlfriends, and they usually were attracted to the same type of girls. George was uncomfortable that there was something he and Fred suddenly couldn't see eye to eye on.

"Yeah...I'm alright too. I just caught the end of a curse...and a garbage can in my stomach. No biggie.."Fred got to his feet, still clutching the sides of stomach. He didn't even bother going to look for GInny with George or Harry. If she were here she would of been waiting on them...she would of came down to check on them..or at least Harry.

Fred started pacing back and forth in front of the fireplace. "I shouldn't of went. George and I put everyone in danger...if she is hurt....and when the Order finds out...."Fred stopped and looked towards Hermione, meeting her eyes. "You are alright, right? I didn't even ask..."he said moving back towards her.

Draco felt like he was walking around in a completely warped and nightmarish Wonderland. It was as if he had fallen down a rabbit hole and had landed on his head going at a speed of 200 km per hour.

Everything was nonsense and some of the strangest things struck fear into his heart. He had always thought the Cheshire Cat was amusing, but it struck fear into his heart when he saw it.

He wandered around a pitch-dark forest and he felt as if someone was following him all the time. He kept starting and jumping at every little movement and the scenes changed at dizzying speeds as if this were all a psychedelic dream.

He stepped into a door in a tree and immediately met with a Jabberwocky that looked entirely too much like Voldemort.

His wand was useless against this gargantuan monster and he suddenly saw the Cheshire Cat again, this time telling him to make a run for it.

He was a Malfoy and Malfoys never run.

But he felt a curse hit him and he was told again in no uncertain terms to run and he ran like the wind, struggling to look back and to stop running...

Harry had serched almost the entire house, and saw George doing the same. He had not found Ginny, nor any traces of her. Panic started to overcome him and he felt a sinking feeling in his stomache. Usually it was the time of feeling he only got momentarily, but this one stayed and made him want to be sick right there and then.

Hermione stood up as Fred walked back towards her. She took his appearance in. His slightly messy red hair that his family shared, his usual T-shirt and casual pants, covered in somewhat worn wizard robes. Her eyes made contact with his bright hazel ones and her stomache did a kind of leaping thing as he walked closer. "Yes... I'm perfectly fine..." She said, noticing that he was still clutching his side. She moved her her hand to where his was, on the side of his stomache, moved his hand, and placed hers gently where he had been touching it. "Though, I'm not so sure if you're alright." She kept her eyes on her hand, almost as if she was entranced by what she was doing.

Snape didn't bother to correct the girl on her interpretation of what she had seen. There was nothing other than physical attraction and a professional relationship between him and Professor Sinistra, he reminded himself. Looking over to Malfoy, he said, "He'll recover. I've seen worse."

Dumbledore arrived in Diagon Alley just as the aurors did. His presence seemed to have caused most of the Death Eaters to flee and the stragglers were easily cleaned up. With the situation difuse, he disapparated and appeared inside his study in Grimmauld Place. Thinking he could use a cup of tea, he made his way downstairs.

"Professor Dumbledore!" Harry said, breathlessly, as the old wizard entered the kitchen where he and George had stopped to rest after running about the house looking for Ginny. "Ginny... she... we went to..." He paused, but then decided that knowing if Ginny was alright was more important than saving his own skin. "We went out, and she's gone... and there were curses, and.... Do you know if she's alright?"

"Yes, Harry, she's fine," Dumbledore said, holding up both his hands, as if to ward off an attack. "She's safe at Hogwarts with Professor Snape. Now, as for you four...."

He paused and glanced at George and Harry over his half-moon spectacles. "Why did you feel the need to leave the house without telling anyone?" he asked, backing up to the door and leaning out into the hallway. He beckoned for Fred and Hermione to join them in the kitchen.

George sighed in relief at Dumbledore's words and slid into a chair. The movement shifted his ribs, and he gave a sharp hiss in pain. "We wanted to check on the shop," he answered Dumbledore sheepishly. "Ginny and Harry wanted to go too, and we figured it would be safer for them to be with us then for them to try to go out on their own." He shook his head. He had to be responsible now, and he was doing a terrible job of it. "Why did she go to Hogwarts? Grimmauld Place is just as safe."

Malfoy started shifting in his sleep, mumbling low urgent words. Ginny moved quickly to his side and reached out a hand to soothe his face. She paused, her hand inches from his forehead. "He said he wasn't evil. Isn't he a Death Eater too?"

In the dream...

Draco was running and trying to stop running at the same time. He kept struggling to look back as he was forced to keep his eyes forward.

He managed to choke out a "Finite Incantatem" before he ran all the way to the exit door so once out of the grip of the curse, he ran back in the direction of the Jabberwocky, fighting against a tide of a pack of cards that eerily reminded him of DEs.

"NOOOOO!" He hexed the cards every which way and screamed until he was hoarse.

"Stay back! Run, Draco, RUN!" The commanding voice came again.

"NOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Draco's eyes opened suddenly and he sat bolt upright gasping for breath. He whispered a "No..." and fell back down, seemingly unconscious.

Ginny let her hand fall back to her side as she turned to face Snape. "Why? Why is it a secret? Either he's evil and a Death Eater, or he's not evil. Or he could be somewhere in between, I suppose," she amended quickly, realizing that she had just grouped the Potions professor in with "evil."

"Regardless," she went on after a pause. "I know where you stand on this issue, Professor. We're on the same side. Why are you withholding from me?"

"It is not an issue of what side you are or are not on," he replied, annoyed that she insisted on questioning him after insulting him to his face. "It simply isn't any of your business."

"What IS my business, Professor?" Ginny snapped, ignoring Draco's murmurs and even his cry of distress which soon settled back into quiet. "I don't know that Harry and those around him are in danger until Luna dies. I don't know how much danger we're in until we nearly get ourselves hexed to death on Diagon Alley. You'd think, considering that quite by accident I've gone and found myself in love with Harry Potter, that someone would take the time to let me in on a few details before I get killed for no apparent reason."

"The event in Diagon Aleey could have been avoided if you had stayed put," he sneered. "Did it ever occur to you and your friends, that gallavanting about the very place we took you from would be dangerous? THat we had a reason for bringing you to headquarters? Or, did you think we just wanted to have a little slumber party?

Fred held his breath again as Hermione removed his hand, and replaced it with her own. He could feel the warmth of her palm seething through his T-shirt, and he just kept holding his breath and taking it in. He was about to say something to her...what he didn't know, because he couldn't form a single clear thought, but he was disrupted by Dumbledore himself. Fred's mouth dropped as he looked from his former Headmaster to Hermione and back to Dumbledore. "I got hit." Fred said stupidly, but that being the only explaination his overloaded brain could spit out. Dumbledore raised his eyes at the pair of them, and beckoned them on. Following Hermione, Fred entered the kitchen and sat close to George. Fred leaned over, finally coming to his senses, and asked, "Ginny? Is she ok? Where is she?"

Ginny bit her tongue at Snape's mention of a slumber party, the mental picture from his quarters popping into her head. Instead, she turned her body back to Malfoy and placed her hand on his head. "Of course it was a mistake to go to Diagon Alley, but why would we assume that the danger in that location hadn't passed? No one told us anything about anything." She squared her shoulders with the intention of ignoring Snape. His bad mood could just darken that corner. No need to stain her.

"Had you been told otherwise? Surely you couldn't have thought that the Death Eaters would give up their mission simply because they happened to kill an innocent bystander instead of their intended target," he scoffed.

"Yes, Ginny is fine," he said. "She is safe at Hogwarts with Profeesor Snape."

Ginny tensed as she was reminded once again that Luna's death was because of her. She almost wished it HAD been her on that street... at least then the people around her would be safe and she wouldn't have to live with this guilt. No response was probably the way to go with Snape, considering she'd already admitted their wrong-doing. Ginny sat on the edge of Malfoy's bed for a few long moments, the silence slowly piling on.

"I want to go back to Grimmauld Place," she finally said, her voice weary.

Snape looked over a Malfoy and turned to enter Madam Pomfrey's office. He emerged a few minutes later. "I can escort you now, if you like," he said

Ginny popped to her feet, casting a last look at Malfoy. She didn't care - not really. She had done her good deed, and if it came back to haunt her, then she'd just have to deal with the consequences. "Yes, please," she replied solemnly, following Snape to the door.

Snape led Miss Weasley up to the Headmaster's office and took out a box containing a shoe. "If you'd just grab this portkey with me, we'll be on our way," he said. "On three... one.. two.. three"

The portkey took them to the living room of Grimmauld Place.

Hermione had moved her eyes back to Fred's just as Dumbledore stepped up into the hallway, asking them to come inside the kitchen. She quickly removed her hand from his side and blushed deeply. They went into the kitchen and Hermione remained standing. Hearing Fred ask about Ginny, she asked, "So, what happened with Ginny? Why is she at Hogwarts... and with Professor Snape?"

Fred sighed a sigh of relief, but a rustle in the living room brought him back to his feet. Dumbldore smiled his usual knowing smile and mentioned something that Fred nor George were listening to about 'them arriving'. Fred and George swung open the door, and there stood Ginny with Professor Snape. Fred felt like choking her and hugging her all at once. But his feet had stopped working, he just stood there glaring at Ginny..
