After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

Dobby came out knowing that his master was looking for him, he cleared the tray that Harry and George had emptied and then walking over to George asked, "Dobby has what his masters is looking for," and he held out a handfull of the Ton-Tongue Toffey that George had mentioned.

Harry smiled, "Thanks, George..." He turned to leave the store. "Erm... if Ginny comes back here, tell her I'll stop by tomorrow, and if she would like to come see me later, I'll be at the Burrow." He hoped she would come to see her sooner rather than later. He walked out feeling slghtly happier than he did when he walked in.

He strolled down the Alley and decided that the others had probably eaten and then gone home to the Burrow alread, so he apparated there.

Ron left the table again as soon as he brought three bowls of soups on it. He left Elizabeth and Hermione for a while to go to the men’s room. He turned on the faucet, dipping his right hand through them. He glanced around for the soap. He found it on a ancient carved-wooden box.

He toweled his hands clean, looking his face. He wiped some sweat that was accumulating on his forehead. Using his hand, he brushed his red hair. He looked at his watch. It was quarter past one. He sighed, going back to the stall where the ladies were.

He sat on the chair, picking up the spoon, and tried some soup.

Hermione looked at Ron. Hadn't he wanted pasta? Oh well, it wasn't up to her to figure out how the enigma of the male mind worked. When they were finished, Hermione told the other two she assumed that Harry either would have gone home or not expected them to wait for him, as he didn't really tell them what he was doing. "So... does anyone have an shopping to do, or shall we just go home?" She asked.

Elizabeth drained the last of her soup from her bowl and pushed the bowl away slightly.

She then turned to the other two and said "I don't think there's anything else i can get here today - There wasn't anything you wanted to look at Ron?"

Luna and Ginny apparated into a large yard. Luna was immediately taken with the dilapidated-looking house. Not witing for Ginny, she ran for the door and ran her hand over the wood framing. It was an old, warm, home and Luna couldn't wait to meet the rest of the house. Knowing it would be unseemly to just go barging onto a house where she didn't know anyone, she turned back and gestured for Ginny to hurry up so she could go inside. While waiting, she looked up toward the roof and then out over the yard and the garden, spying a garden gnome, popping back into his hole.

Harry apparated a while away from the Burrow, for he felt he still needed some time to think. He still hadn't decided on what he was going to say to Ginny. And he wasn't even sure why he was going to do this, but he knew he had to talk to her. The words George had said earlier kept ringing in his head, Don't let your feelings cause you to give Ginny hope when there isn't any. But he had to tell her. He had to be honest with her. If she was feeling the same way back, she had a right to know.

At this point, Harry felt a little stupid for getting so worked up over what happened in one day's time... but it was something to be worked up about, he told himself. Here he was, about to get married, and he's having feelings for another woman... he sighed as he approached the Burrow and saw two female shadows. As he came closer, the shadows became more defined, and he could see one had blonde hair, and the other, red.

Ginny laughed and was glad she had brought Luna along with her on this excursion. Her enthusiasm for seeing the house that was so familiar to Ginny was amusing and lifted Ginny's spirits considerably. "Alright, alright, I"m coming," Ginny said and opened the door tentatively. "Mum?" she called out, afraid to move any further into the house in case they needed to run from the wrath of Molly Weasley.

"Ginevra Weasley!" Molly Weasley appeared from the kitchen carrying a towel and looking a bit murderous. "What do you mean by not coming home with Harry last night? The poor boy was so upset and your father and I have been beside ourselves wondering where you were and whether or not you were dead or worse..."

"Mum... there isn't much worse than dead," Ginny realized she wasn't winning any favor and decided to change her tactics. "Luna and I have got a flat in Diagon Alley, and we wanted to get right settled in." Molly looked a bit pacified and more willing to listen at this news. "We need some help in setting up our kitchen, and I told Luna there was NO one who could help us like my brilliant mum."

Harry approached the front of the house, hesitating before opening the door, but when he did, he found Ginny, Luna, and Mrs. Weasley standing there. He silently stepped in and waited for one of them to say something.

As soon as they entered the house, Luna began looking around, examining everything. She became so entralled with their clock that she didn't even notice when Mrs. Weasley had come storming into the room. She did notice, however, when Harry arrived as he was standing right next to her when he spoke. The two Weasley's didn't seem to notice the silent young man standing in the doorway so, Luna took the initiative and greeted him. "Hello Harry," she said, softly.

Harry shifted his gaze from Ginny to Luna, "Hello..." he said. "Hi, Mrs. Weasley," He said to her, then turning back to the younger red-head, said, "Ginny... can I please talk to you...? I promise I won't leave this time, I just really need to... tell you something..." He hoped that neither Luna nor Mrs. Weasley would question why he wanted to talk to her, as it would take quite a long time to explain... and the fact that he just would not want them to know. If he wasn't careful, soon he would have the whole Weasley family against him.

Molly Weasley smiled fondly at Harry as he stood in the doorway and cut off her daughter before she had a chance to speak. "Hello, Harry dear. Where have you put the others? I wanted Elizabeth to help me look at some cake recipes. She's such a lovely girl," Molly added to Ginny. "Well, go on with you," she shooed Ginny off and made a gesture to Luna to join her in the kitchen.

Ginny gave Luna a pleading look before she followed Harry back out the door. Her mother even loved Elizabeth. What was the world coming to?

"What do you need, Harry?" Ginny asked in a flat voice. She was glad to see him, of course, but... he was making her resolution to avoid him very difficult.

Luna floowed Mrs. Weasley into the kitchen, her eyes darting here and there as she moved, taking in her surroundings. She wondered what the woman wanted with her in the kitchen and looked up at her, inquiringly.

Harry felt like putting this off, not talking about it now... but if he did, he would just make things more awkward. He could tell Ginny seemed a bit upset, and he couldn't blame her. He had just walked off earlier without a real explination.

This was something hard to say... after about an hour of thinking earlier, he still hadn't decided what to say. "Uh... Gin..." He started, "I... well... earlier... you know... when you asked me... you know, joking around... about Elizabeth and I was describing her to you..." He didn't know how he was going to say this, but it was now or never, he said in one breath, "Well when I was talking about all of the great stuff about her I kept thinking about you and thinking that everything about you was better." He hoped she would get what he was trying to say.

Molly watched Ginny's friend with amusement. Her eyes drank in everything in the kitchen, until they finally settled on herself. They were filled with uncertainty. "I don't bite, dear, and certainly not anyone other than my own children. Would you like a cup of tea? Maybe you can tell me a bit more about the flat that my negligent daughter has so thoughtfully just announced to me."

Ginny stopped in front of a large tree in front of the house, leaning against it for support. She used to climb this tree when she was a young girl, and it was a piece of her past. "Harry, what are you telling me? I don't know what to think when you tell me you love Elizabeth and that's she's just brilliant, but that you think I'm better. You're going to marry her, Harry. What are you saying?"

"I don't know, Ginny, that's the point," Harry said, eyes glancing over her leaning against the large tree. "I'm just... confused, I suppose... I mean... that's not normal, is it? I'm supposed to love Elizabeth. I'm supposed to... and I love being with her and..." He sighed and felt that this was all a dream, he wasn't really standing there, talking to Ginny, about this, under these circumstances.

"What do you think?" He asked her, but thought that this was a completely pointless question as he was likely to not get a straight answer or just a question about what just came out of his mouth.

"Sure, I'd love a cup of tea," Luna said, moving further into the room, brushing her fingertips on the table. "Well, the flat is located above your sons' establishment in Diagon Alley. I'm not sure if you are familiar with it at all but, it has three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. There is some furniture but, I'm afraid the kitchen is lacking sufficient equipment and the furnishings in the living room are quite deficient. We can get by with the furniture until we can afford some new things. But, I'm afraid the situation in the kitchen is rather desperate."

Ginny wanted to tell Harry to throw Elizabeth over and to just come away with her. It didn't matter if they'd be happy because at least they'd be together. But... she watched him tussle his black hair, making it stand up more than usual, and she knew she couldn't cause him any unhappiness. "Every groom feels nervous and confused, Harry. All of them. Its normal for you to worry that you aren't doing the right thing and that you've chosen the wrong person, but you need to remember whatever it was that made you want to marry her in the first place. Just get over your fears and marry her. You told me yourself how great she is... she isn't exactly going to wait around forever." Her voice was clear and practical, but she refused to look him in the eye, instead staring at a branch that hung out over her head. He would see how much it pained her to tell him to walk away if he looked too closely, and then he wouldn't go.

Molly, while a bit surprised that the girls would put their lives in their hands in such a way, was glad to hear that Ginny would be near her older brothers. They were a handful, and trouble solid through, but they were loyal and fierce when it came to family.

"Well, I'm sure I can help you out with your kitchen." She refilled Luna's cup and began to bustle around the kitchen, magically whisking a pile of kitchenware onto the table around Luna's plate and saucer. As she worked, she kept up a steady dialogue. "Now, just between us girls, why did Ginny feel the need to go careening around London instead of coming home to us?"

Luna watched as pots, pans, utensils, silverware, and an assortment of dishes assembled themselves in front of her. She smiled and thanked Mrs. Weasley effusively before reluctantly answering her question. She didn't want to betray and confidences so she settled on an answer she hoped woul dbe satisfactory to Mrs. Weasley yet, maintain Ginny's privacy at the same time. "Well, it was a private conversation so, I wasn't listening. But, I do know she was thinking about going to Diagon Alley eventually and after she spoke with Harry she decided to go sooner rather than later."

Molly knew her daughter well enough to be completely dissatisfied with Luna's response, but the girl seemed to be without any knowledge, or so she appeared. It seemed strange to see someone who lacked any sort of natural curiosity or awareness of one's surroundings in a situation that, considering Ginny's temper, would have to have been a bit loud. And for her to run, as Arthur had also attested to, she would have to have been quite angry.

"Yes, well... I'm sure it will sort itself out, dear. We made a bit of a mistake in not telling her sooner, but I don't think anyone wanted to take Harry's job of letting her know of his betrothal. I'm sure he had his own reasons for waiting so long."

Luna nodded in response and sipped her tea. "We are looking for another roommate to help defray the costs," she said, getting back to the discussion of the flat, thinking that this bit of information might be something Mrs. Weasley would want to know. "But, we haven't had time to discuss it or advertise, yet. Would you object to a male living with us?"

At mrs. Weasley's raised eyebrow, Luna continued to explain herself. "I was trying to come up with a list of things we would want to have in a roommate and things we'd want to avoid. I was hoping to get your opinion. Or, do you have anyone in particular in mind?" she asked.

Ginny's words made complete sense. Every groom was never sure if they picked the right person, never sure if they did the right thing. But life was about taking chances. If you never take chances, you never move anywhere. But, he realized also, that when you take chances, you make mistakes.

If Ginny was a year older, Harry thought, then he probably wouldn't be standing here right now. He probably would have never proposed to Elizabeth because he would have had the whole year out of Hogwarts to spend with Ginny, too. But he couldn't control that and there was no use dwelling on the past.

Harry noticed how when she was talking, she wasn't looking at him, and this gave him the slightest impression that she didn't really want what she was saying to actually happen. Harry sighed, running a hand through his messy hair. "Ginny..." He said, knowing that he probably shouldn't be asking her this because it would just complicate things more, "How do you feel about me?" He had to ask, because that was the type of person Harry was, determined, or as some liked to call him, stubborn. If she just gave him a simple 'you're a best friend, Harry' or 'I love you like a brother,' things would definitely seem better.

Molly shook her head as she continued to poke into the odd cupboard. "I'm not a bit of toast, Luna Lovegood, that you need to be buttering me up," but it was clear from her expression that she was pleased she was being asked. "And, no, I don't have anyone in mind. If you girls want to live with a male, that is your business. I don't poke my nose into my children's business. Just make sure he's a nice, respectable boy." She paused for a moment, removing her head from a particularly cluttered cupboard and turning to face Luna.

"Someone is looking for a flat. Now who was it? Oh dear, my memory just isn't what it used to be. I'm sure I'll remember as soon as you leave. Speaking of which, haven't Ginny and Harry been gone a long time?"

Ginny turned on Harry, pushing off from the tree until she was right in his face. Or as close as possible, considering that he was a good bit taller than her. She cursed her short stature, wishing for a moment that she were tall and imposing like some of her brothers.

"I never took you for a cruel person, Harry," Ginny retorted, her eyes glinting dangerously. "You obviously THINK I still suffer from the same infatuation I did when I was 11, as evidenced by your not telling me about your engagement before yesterday. But if that's true, then you're asking me to stand here and tell you that I love you despite hope and despite the fact that you'll just walk away. For your information, Harry, I do NOT feel for you as I did when I was 11." 'I feel much more,' she added silently in her head, but such an admonition would destroy her and the anger she was currently displaying.

Harry knew something of this sort was going to happen. "Okay, Ginny." How she had worded things, he thought that she just considered him a nuisance and wasn't to be bothered by his foolish admiration of her. This caused his stomach and heart both to sink and hurt to fill his eyes.

"I'm sorry." He looked over her, then said, "I guess I should go inside... I have some stuff to do... I suppose..."

"Harry," Ginny reached up and pulled his face back so that it pointed at hers again. Instead of the relief she'd expected, he looked... hurt. Disappointed? She was letting him off the hook, so why did he look like he wasn't happy with the outcome?

"Why do I get the feeling that I've said something wrong? Harry, I know that Hermione and Ron are your best friends, and that I've always been something of an annoying tag-along, but... you're one of the dearest friends I have. It hurts me so much to think that something I don't even understand is going to ruin that. What are YOU feeling right now? That's much more important than how I feel."
