After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

Tonks blushed a little at George's comment. "Well, thanks George. I'm sorry I didn't notify you all a little sooner about Ginny's whereabouts. She's been with me since she left and I should probably get back to her as she's all alone in my flat right now."

Snape was completely flabbergasted. He could think of nothing whatsoever to say to that and he merely stared at the child. Surely she wasn't suggesting what he thought she was suggesting.

George reached out and snagged Tonks' sleeve, keeping her from disappearing just yet. "Tonks... erm... take care of my little sister. She does silly things, but she's a good bean. She'll make you want to kill her, but you'll still love her so much it'll hurt." He let her sleeve go and stepped back, looking embarrassed.

Dani tilted her head back so that she was looking at the starry designs on teh ceiling. She kicked her feet for a moment before recalling where she was and stilling herself. "You know, if you're the daddy of my brother," she couldn't look him in the eyes, and her voice was very soft, "it's kind of like you're MY daddy too."

"Don't worry," Tonks smiled. "I will and I'm sure she'll be back to at least visit, soon. You just have to wait for the dust to settle."

Snape took a deep breath and let it out slowly. He, luckily, recognized this as one of those delicate situations where it was better to skirt around the real issues and merely attempt to pacify the child. "Yes, I suppose that would be true," he said, slowly, not wanting to say anything more and hoping Tara got back soon.

George nodded and picked up both notes from teh table top. "If you decide to throw a party, for goodness sake, invite me. I don't want to stay here either."

Tara slipped into her room, hoping for a quiet moment to gather her thoughts before they had to start packing. She was completely surprised to find Dani spread out across Snape's lap, looking sleepy and pleased with herself. Snape looked uncomfortable, but Tara didn't suppose having an 8-year-old use you as an easy chair when you didn't even like children would be a shock to any system. Still, the sight of them together like that made her heart ache in a way she couldn't identify, and Tara joined them, pushing the hair off Snape's forehead and brushing her hand across Dani's cheek.

"Sure. If we throw a party, I can assure you that you'll be the first person invited but, right now, Ginny needs some time. I'll see ya around," she said, waving and then, picking up the broom and the cage before walking over to the fireplace.

Snape was more than relived that Tara had finally arrived though, he was also a bit worried that Dani would start spouting her new ideas to her mother. "Is everything arranged?" he asked before Dani could speak.

Tara lifted the paperweight. "A portkey. We're leaving in an hour. Dani, love," Tara knelt by Snape's chair and put her hands on her daughter's cheeks. "We're going to go stay with some friends. Run quick and pack up your new robes and anything else you need, and we'll leave soon."

Dani obediently hopped down and raced to her room, casting a long look at Snape before she disappeared. Tara took Dani's place in Snape's lap, wanting just to be held for a moment.

He was much more comfortable with Tara in his lap and wrapped his arms around her, his hand rubbing the small of her back. "Are you there until the start of term, then?" he asked

Tara sighed against his robes and let the tension ease out of her body. "You know, with all of the talk, I never thought to ask about that," she chuckled and snuggled in deeper. "If you don't come visit us all teh time, Dani and I are going to go batty. What was she talking about anyway? She seemed very pleased with herself."

"I suppose I can brave that house to save you suffering from that company," Snape replied, running some of her stray hairs through his fingers. "As for you daughter... Well, she has decided she'd rather have a brother than a pet and thinks that I can help her get one. She has come to the conclusion that if I were the father of her brother then, I would be her father, as well."

Tara froze, her emotions flying so fast she felt she might fall right out of Snape's arms from the onslaught. The world was moving around her and inside her and... she just wanted to stop all the feeling, positive and negative and just be for a moment. She grabbed ahold of the front of Snape's robe and refused to look at him, leveraging herself up so that her full weight didn't rest against him. "Hmm, yes? And what did you tell her?"

Perhaps he shouldn't have been quite so up front with her about what he and Dani had been talking about. Judging from her reaction, she was quite worried about what he had responded and Snape second-guessed himself. "I merely said that I supposed that would be true. Then, you arrived," he said, lifting his hands to her face and brushing his thumbs over her cheeks.

Tara leaned in, sighing against Snape's mouth before capturing his lips with much more ferocity than she intended. She supposed, in that logical part of her brain that was still ticking away, that she was somehow expressing what her words could not. Tara cared for Snape in a way that she hadn't cared for Philipe or any man before or since. And Dani loved him, which was peculiar, but not unexpected considering the little girl's capacity to love. She broke the kiss, pressing her forehead to his. "You don't have to be her father, you know. You just have to keep being who you are. I would never ask you to do anything but that."

He wasn't expecting the response she gave, though he couldn't say that he didn't enjoy it. "I know," he breathed. Snape wished he could tell her that he would love to be a father for Dani but, the truth was, he knew he couldn't be a father to her. He wasn't the type of man who could be a good enough father for Tara's daughter.

"I don't know what I'm going to do with that child," Tara put her head down on Snape's shoulder again, all to aware both that precious packing time was slipping by and that she was letting an important conversation go unspoken. "She always says exactly what she feels. I fear she might be a future Gryffindor afterall. I wonder where she got that from." Tara left it unsaid that she herself was so taciturn that it was highly unlikely that Dani inherited her friendliness from her, because that left only thoughts of charming, gregarious Philipe. Tara didn't want any part of Dani to remind her of Philipe.

Snape cradled her head in his hand and wished there was something he could say or do for her. As it was, all he could do was sit there and hold her. "Do you have much to pack?" he asked, hoping a change in conversation might help, though the thought of moving to Grimmauld probably wasn't much better.

Tara shook her head slightly, fiddling with Snape's hand that wasn't curled around her head. "I'm sure if I forget anything vital, I can return for it. Dumbledore has granted me permission to return for my research, so I suspect I'll be here whenever the sun goes down." She looked up at him, realizing for the first time that he angst over being sent to Grimmauld wasn't about any of the things she'd complained about. She wasn't worried about her research or concerned about the upheaval. She would simply miss Snape.

Snape smiled and entwined his long fingers with Tara's small ones. "Well then, that's not so bad," he said. "At least you won't be stuck there all the time and I'm sure you can spare a few moments of research for a lonely potions master."

Hermione blushed at Fred's compliments. She knew she was smart, but pretty? He was standing so close and holding both of her hands in his. She wished she could just capture this moment and hold it forever. "I think... I think you're right. We'll be fine. George... just... well, I don't know what his problem is. He's too close-minded."

"Right..well, George is my right hand man. He'll come around, I'm sure of it. And until then.."Fred let go of Hermione's hand and pretended to pull our a sword, and swished it around. "I'll protect the honor on my fair lady Mione, and fight for her till death if I have to!" Fred made a dramatic bow, then "sheathed" his sword. "Seriously, though..he'll come around and start listening to reason. Don't tell him this, but he took after Mom about getting his panties all in a wad about things. I took after Dad..good ole laid back Fred. " Fred winked at Hermione and held out his hand for her to take. He had passed up a perfectly good moment to kiss her...and he had wanted to so badly..but, he wasn't going to mess this up. She had just become way too important to him for him to go screwing things up. Everything had to be perfect with this one..and their first kiss couldn't be in his musty old bedroorm. WHich brought another thought...he needed to take her out..on a date..Fred would have to work on that later..

"Mione..what do you say we go down and see if anyone has found that sister of mine?"

Hermione laughed at his little act with the fake sword. She loved Fred's ability to be completely random and charming at the same time. She took his hand that he was holding out and nodded in response to his question. She thought she might have heard voices coming from downstairs that sounded like George and a female. Maybe that was Ginny?

Fred escorted Hermione down the stairs, past Mrs. Black, and down to the kitchen. Hermione's hand was small and warm and Fred loved the way it fit so perfectly in his own. Swinging open the door, Fred found George near the table and Tonks about to jump in the fire. He led Hermione in first, still clinging to her hand, then followed after. "What's going on here? Where you headed Tonks?"

Tonks stopped with one foot in the fire and turned to see Fred and Hermione walking into the kitchen. "I'm going home. George can explain everything. See ya," she said, putting her other foot into the fire and preparing to give the command for the floo network to take her home.

When they entered the kitchen, the first person Hermione saw was George. She almost let go of Fred's hand because she didn't want George to start voicing his opinions on she and Fred again. But, instead of letting go, she squeezed his hand a bit. Oddly enough, the voice she heard wasn't Ginny's, but Tonks's. Hermione focused her gaze on George, who, according to Tonks, needed to explain where Ginny was.

George shook his head at how Tonks had so neatly passed the buck on to him, and smiled as she stood in the fireplace. He wished, now, that she hadn't moved out. George was starting to think there was a lot more to Tonks than he had ever realized. With a nod, he turned to look at his twin and saw Hermione's hand in his. He frowned and turned back to the green flames with Tonks standing in them. If she wasn't careful, she'd get burned when the powder ran out.

Tara traced the sharp lines of Snape's face with her fingertips, knowing she needed to get up and get packed. Her eyes were dark with emotion and she ran her thumb across Snape's bottom lip. "I fear my research will go sadly neglected if I spend as much time on the poor Potions Master as he deserves and I want." With those words said, she scooted off his lap and dragged a trunk from her wardrobe onto the bed.

Snape actually smiled and rose from his seat. "Anything I can do to help you?" he asked, looking around at the many things in the room and wondering which ones she would take.

Tonks waved with a couple of fingers which weren't needed for holding the cage and nearly dropped it in the process. Straightening up, she called out for her flat and was gone. "Sorry it took me so long, Ginny," she huffed, setting her burdens down before she really did drop them. "I was delayed by your charming brother."
