After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

Tara looked over her shoulder at the door half-closed between her room and Dani's before she closed the distance to Snape. She wrapped her arms around him and rested her chin on his chest, looking up at him. "What are you talking about? You were brilliant tonight. If Dumbledore wants us to go, then of course we must, but you needn't blame yourself."

Ginny considered going alone to Grimmauld Place, then reconsidered. "Please," she responded simply. "If I go in there alone, they'll make me stay. Maybe if you come too, they'll understand that we're safe."

"He wants to speak with you, of course. If you want, I can stay here in case Dani awakens while you speak with him. I suspect he would like you leave soon. I'm sure Dani will find it most enjoyable as there are plenty of people there who act like children."

"Of course," Tonks replied, standing up with Ginny and putting her arm across her shoulders. "We can floo right there and be back to the flat in time for the Weird Sisters broadcast on WWN."

The two witches made their way into the back of the restaurant again. Tonks' uncle gave them both a big hug and invitations for them to come back whenever they wanted. Then, they were standing before the fireplace and Tonk's was offering the floo powder to Ginny.

Tara pushed away from Snape and went to retrieve her robes to put over her slacks and blouse. "And what about me?" she gave him a level look. "Will I enjoy spending my time with a bunch of children and people who believe they are children? How does he expect me to be useful if I'm in hiding like that?" She frowned. "What if just Dani went/"

"You know, if we're lucky, no one will be about," Ginny said hopefully. "We can go in, get my things, leave a note, and leave." She smiled at that thought and grabbed a handful of powder. The flames turned green and she stepped inside.

"I'm sure you'll get along just fine. Besides, I seriously doubt you'll be completely confined there. You have your research to do which would require you to visit her often," he said, pulling her close again. "Talk it over with the Headmaster."

"One can always hope," Tonks smiled and pushed Ginny, who was already in the flames, on the shoulder. "Now hurry up or we'll never make it back in time for the broadcast. You don't want to be responsible for me missing it, do you?"

Tara pulled herself up so that she could kiss Snape gently before she moved to the door. "I would visit here even without my research. Perhaps, due to the sheer volume of people in that house, it would be best to confine most of our time together to the castle, as opposed to the house." She rolled her eyes. "Dani should sleep until I get back."

Ginny disappeared into the flames and stepped out of the fire into the kitchen. She was dirty, but it didn't matter since she would be flooing again soon. She listened carefully and heard voices coming from the hall outside of the kitchen. So far, so good.

Snape kissed her back and reluctantly let her go, though a small sound from the other room encouraged him to do so. He sat down in one of the chairs and picked up a random astronomy book to pass the time as he waited for Tara's return.

Tonks arrived in the kitchen of Grimmauld Place to find it pretty much the way she had left it only a few hours earlier. It seemed like a lot more time had passed... She gave Ginny a slight shove in the small of her back and couldn't help giggling at the insanity of this mission. Here she was, an auror for the Ministry of Magic, and she couldn't take a little stealth seriously. She had an insane urge to yell and scream to let the inhabitants of the house know they were there and leaving them for good. Perhaps, that's why she had nearly failed her stealth course...

Ginny scowled at Tonks, but the look on the Auror's face made her giggle, the noise escaping a bit before she clapped her fist over her mouth and proceeded to the kitchen door. In the hall, she realized the voices were coming from teh Drawing Room, and it was easy work to slip by and up the stairs. The upstairs hallway was empty, and Ginny ducked into her room and closed the door.

Tara hurried through the halls and made it to Dumbledore's much sooner than she would have liked. As much as she liked the man, she dreaded his news. The password whispered, Tara walked up the stairs and knocked gently on the door. Maybe he had left and wasn't there... the door opened.

Dumbledore smiled at Sitara's expression. "I take it Severus has already broken the news," he said.

"I don't think anyone heard us but, don't you think you should leave some word that you are okay and safe?" Tonks said as they arrived in Ginny's bedroom. "You wouldn't want them to worry and do something stupid, like leave the house and go looking for you... Would you?"

Ginny frowned and moved to the bed to begin dumping clothing into her trunk. "I was going to leave a note for them on the table in the kitchen, where yours is. I don't think any of them have even noticed yours yet, or at least hadn't when I left mine, so maybe they can just find them both together." She rummaged under her bed for the shoes that belonged to her, throwing a pair of Hermione's onto the girl's bed.

Tara realized she must have been wearing her emotions on her face, which was very unlike her. She quickly straightened herself up and took a seat in front of Dumbledore's desk. "I don't understand why we aren't safe here at Hogwarts. We don't have to go out anymore. I wouldn't do anything to put Severus's position or health in jeopardy."

"Sounds good to me," Tonks said, flopping down on Ginny's bed while she waited for her to pack. She swung her legs back and forth and accidentally kicked Ginny in the head as the girl came out from under the bed.

"Oh... sorry, Ginny," she squealed, her hand over her mouth. Then, sighing, she flung herself back so that she was laying on the bed. "I don't know why I even bother."

"Yes, you should be safe at Hogwarts but, it would make this old man feel better if you would just humor him," Dumbledore replied, his eyes sparkling. "And I wouldn't worry about Severus. You and he can visit one another either here or at Grimmauld Place."

Ginny rubbed her head. "Its fine, Tonks. Don't worry about it. I get hurt worse by my brothers all the time. Why don't you just go over and grab my broom and owl cage, and we can get out of here? I'll leave a note when we get down to the kitchen." Ginny levitated her trunk and locked it as she opened the door.

"Well," Tara frowned severely at Dumbledore, "I'm glad you are amused by all this. I'm not certain I don't believe you somehow had a hand in all of this. I really don't have the time for romance, as you well known. And I don't have the strength for heart break."

Dumbledore couldn't help but chuckle on the inside at her response. "I assure you that a little bit of romance never hurt anyone. In fact, during these times, it is important that we leave time for recreation and our emotional well beings, as well as our work and responsibilities," he said, seriously.

Tonks jumped off the bed, grabbed the rest of Ginny's things and followed her out of the room and down the stairs. She waited by the fireplace as Ginny scribbled out her note, not wanting to leave her alone here. "You go first," she whispered, not wanting to alert anyone's attention to them.

Tara looked at Dumbledore in resignation. "I'll remember that when I lose someone else I care for." She rose to her feet and pushed the chair back. "When do you want us to leave, Headmaster?

Dani stumbled into her mother's room and was surprised to find Professor Snape sitting there. He looked quite comfortable, and she was still a little sleepy, so she came to stand before him. She wanted to sit in his lap, but Snape didn't really seem like the lap sort of man. Instead, she moved back and forth from one foot to the other. "I've decided on something," she declared.

Ginny had just disappeared through the fire when George appeared in teh kitchen. He was hungry and looking for a snack, and Tonks surprised him a bit. "'Lo, Tonks. Where are you off to? We're having a bit of an emergency." He eyed the broom and cage she carried suspiciously.

"Oh... 'Lo George," Tonks responded, being caught off guard just as she was about to step up to the fireplace. "An emergency, huh? Are you responsible adults that don't need anyone around needing some help, now?"

Snape moved his eyes over the top of the book to find the young girl standing in front of him, shifting from foot to foot. When she spoke, he finally put the book down in his lap and folded his hands. "Yes?" he encouraged her.

Dumbledore's smile faded and he looked up at Tara. "As soon as you are ready," he responded. "You may take your time to pack, of course. But, I would prefer it if you left as soon as you could."

George grimaced and made a face at Tonks. "And here I thought I was going to be nice and include you in our emergency, Tonks. I just want to know if you've seen Ginny. She seems to have stepped out on us, and we're trying to contact Dumbledore now. You wouldn't know where either of them is?"

Dani took that as encouragement and approached his chair, resting her hands on the arm of it. "I think I've changed my mind on wanting a pet. They're really hard to take care of, and I think there's something I want even more than a pet." Her little face, still flushed with sleep, beamed up at him.

Tara nodded in understanding and looked at Dumbledore somberly. "You want Dani and I to come back here to be transported?"

"Sorry," she said, realizing that she had been acting rather childish. "If you take a look at the kitchen table you'll find a couple of notes. I've found a new flat in London so I won't be needing to stay here anymore. Giny found me and is going to be staying with me. We were just leaving with her things. As for Professor Dumbledore, I'm sure he's busy with his business and stuff."

"That is very responsible of you," Snape responded. "But, what is it that you have decided you'd like more?"

"So long as I know when you have departed, you may make whatever travel arrangements you deem most convenient."

George stared at Tonks, then stared at the table, then back at Tonks. "Ginny... is going to be staying with you? Who's going to keep you safe? That's totally unacceptable Tonks. You two need to come back here and we'll watch each other's backs." George was as worried about Tonks leaving as Ginny. He had a suspicion that his and Fred's behavior towards her certainly hadn't contributed to her wanting to stay.

Tara maintained a flat voice, even in her confusion. "I thought the house was protected by the Fidelius Charm. I assumed you'd be accompanying us. Can you arrange a portkey? I think the Floo makes Dani nauseated."

"I thought you'd never ask," Dani grinned and picked up Snape's book. She climbed into his lap and held the book herself. With her head snuggled against his arm, she sighed in contentment. It was nice to have a daddy-type person holding you. "I've decided that I want a little brother."

"Well, I'm glad to know you feel confident in my abilities as an auror. Of course, most people tend to forget that I even am an auror so, I suppose that contributes to people's lack of trust in me because how could a klutz like me possibly be an auror. Well, let me tell you something, Mr. Wealey," she said, poking her finger in his chest. "I may have barely passed Stealth and Tracking but, I got top marks in Concealment and Disguise, not to mention high marks in all the other courses I took to become an auror. I've been an auror for the past four years and haven't been fired, yet so, I must not be too terribly bad at what I do and if a qualified auror isn't enough protection for your sister, I don't know what else is.

"She can't stay here anymore and if you make her stay here, she'll do something stupid, like try to leave without telling anyone and wander off somewhere dangerous. At least she's got me and I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you. Besides, the poor girl needs a friend and something to keep her mind off the fact that the man she loves is in some serious trouble with the Dark Lord.

"I'm going to take her with me to the Ministry on Monday to find her a job so she can feel useful. Maybe she'll come back here on her own at some point after she's gotten her life together but, for now, she's staying with me," Tonks finished her ranting and leaned back with her arms crossed over her chest, having dropped the broom and cage in her agitation.

"A little... brother..." Snape repeated, a bit thrown by her sudden affection.

"I can arrange a portkey for you and, if it makes you more comfortable, I can accompany you, as well."

George didn't have any words as Tonks lit into him. Of course, she was right, and he knew she was right. George was never one to let a fight go, but something in the way Tonks held herself made him stop short of picking a fight with her. "Hey," he held up his hands defensively. "I didn't mean to imply that you weren't capable. She's my baby sister, and you... well, I don't want anything to happen to either of you, Tonks." He smiled his goofy smile at her and cocked his head.

"Yes," Dani nodded, her little face serious. "I would play with him and help take care of him. I know that little brothers are annoying and stuff at first, but I could be patient until he was fun enough to play with. I'm very patient." As if to prove her point, she stopped talking and looked up at him with big eyes.

Tara waved him off. "No, its fine. If you'll give me the portkey now, we can be gone within the next hour. I assume you'll lift the charm so Dani can see the house once we arrive? And do the occupants know we're coming?"

Guin had finished up putting her things back in their places quickly after George left and seemed to have gone into the motion of things there in Egypt rather quickly. She had already managed the paper work in the manner she liked it organized and had completed two small piles waiting for her attention. Guin left her quiet tent and ventured into the other world she had missed so much. The digging and spell work to protect some of the old tombs they were being hired to protect. She could smell the aroma of dirt and a tinge of those potiony smells used also. It was weird, but she had missed them in ways she never knew.

It had only been a few hours since she had been back but she already had a yearning to know what the others back home in England were doing. And what did George do with her pair of underwear? Guin laughed as she put her hands on her hips and observed the workers.

"Well, thankyou for your concern," she said, realizing that she had totally blown her whole point by shouting at him like some sort of child. "Honestly, thanks and I'm sorry for going crazy like that, I'm just... Well, I'm sorry."

"Yes, I will briefly lift the charm one hour from now and it will be back in place a minute afterwards. The portkey will be activated for that time, as well," Dumbledore said, charming a paperweight for use as a portkey.

Snape didn't know how to respond to her. Was she implying something? Or was this just some coincidental childhood dream? "Yes, you are more patient than most of the children I have met," he finally answered. "So, you are looking for a playmate?"

George's goofy smiled deepened into a real smile. "Everyone shouts at me, Tonks. I"m a Weasley. Honestly, if you aren't shouting, I'm probably not totally sure you're talking to me." He paused, before adding, "Besides, I kind of like it when you shout. You're face goes all pink and I get an idea of what you really look like aside from all the faces you wear."

Tara nodded curtly and picked up the paperweight. Hefting it in her hand, she turned and left the office without saying goodbye. It wasn't that she was angry with Dumbledore, she just hated her life being uprooted like this. She was a creature of habit and patterns, and this was all so outside her control.

"I'm not looking for a playmate, although I do need one of those," Dani explained patiently. And here she had thought he was so clever. "I'm looking for a brother. I'm sure you know how we can get one of those. Aunt Alanna kind of explained it to me. You can help."
