After Ginny finishes her final year at Hogwarts, she's stunned to learn that Harry, who's been out of school a year, is engaged. Not wanting to return to the Burrow, which will be full of wedding planning and activity, Ginny escapes to Diagon Alley for a bit of independent living. The twins kindly take Ginny in and offer her a job, and she drags Neville and Luna along as flatmates. Who knows what will happen now that they are living independently?

This is a VERY loose storyline so far, but we want to have the chance to explore these characters as rising adults. I have all of the main characters filled at this point. If you are interested, go ahead and post your character idea. To be honest, I'd prefer HP characters (but not necesarily HRH) rather than made-ups... although a quality made-up is always welcome. If I don't feel your character will add to the story, I probably won't say yes. Also, we're quite serious about RPing, so if you aren't on at night EST, CST, or you will only post very sporadically, don't bother. This is advanced RPing, so YES, your posts need to be longer and more detailed and we DO care about your spelling and grammar.

Fred was being very convincing... and she did trust him... so Hermione gave in. Just as she was about to answer, George walked in and Hermione blushed, taking Fred's hand down from her face with her own hand. "Fine, I'll go with you," She said quietly to Fred.

George entered the room completely and sat on the bed next to Hermione, close enough that his leg touched hers. He jostled her a bit to make space between her and Fred, trying to make it appear to be accidental. "Oy, where are we going?"

Fred, for one of the first times ever, wasn't glad to see his other half. He didn't like his tone, he didn't like his questions, he didn't like his attempt to move Hermione. In fact, Fred hated George's attitude period at the moment. "We were going to do what you and I do on our spare afternoons, " Fred said shortly, knowing George would know what he was talking about. "I thought Hermione would enjoy that."

Quite calmly, Fred got up from his knee and dropped Hermione's hand. He reached for the front of George's shirt and pulled him firmly to his own bed across the room. George had been somewhat rough with Hermione the last couple of weeks, and Fred had just watched it happen. He was done with that now.

Fred knew he was getting more upset about this than he probably should, but he could tell by the glint in George's eye he was up to no good...and from previous experiences, he knew that George didn't think he was good for Hermione. And as true as that may be, George wasn't going to mess it up for him. Not yet anyways.. "I'm going to go clear our trip with Dumbledore...just in case." Fred turned and gave Hermione a half smile, then back to George, who got a warningful look and he walked out of the room.

OOC: Um. I guess George and Mione can play together till I get back? I'm sorry I don't have anything better than that to get rid of Fred...

George watched Fred leave, giving him a very dirty look. Fine, his twin could be angry with him, but in the long run, he was right. He crossed his arms and gave Hermione a measured look. She was the source of all the trouble. What did she want with Fred anyway?

"You have no idea what you're doing, little girl," he finally muttered, rising to his feet and making for the door.

Tonks dragged her trunk from the grate but, left it on the hearth as she flopped down on the couch and sighed. If only she hadn't been tossed out of her old apartment and if only... Well, if only a lot of things hadn't happened. Actually, all of her problems would be solved if she could just figure out how to now be clumsy. She sighed again and stared into the fire which was slowly burning back down from the effects of the floo powder.

Snape finished drinking his tea and proceeded to prepare for the trip to Italy. He wasn't sure when they would be leaving or for how long but, he figured he could distract himself by packing.

"I'm not a little girl, George," Hermione said, remaining seated on the bed "I know what I'm doing and am quite pleased with it as of now. And frankly, I don't understand why you have such a problem with it. Your brother's going to find someone he... fancies... and why can't it be me?"

"Why don't you use that large brain everyone talks about, Mione?" George responded, his voice exasperated but not unkind. "Fred is rough and goofy and wild. He's my best friend in the entire world, but I can see him clearly. Why don't you? He's not some Prince Charming figure that you're working him out to be and you're going to ruin him if you try to make him be. You're a nice girl, clever and very sweet. Why don't you find a decent sort of chap you can work with?"

Harry's long silence concerned Ginny, and she pulled back and wiped her eyes. He had pulled into himself again, his thoughts elsewhere, and he had left Ginny alone in his company again. She was beginning to wonder if it would always be like this.

On unsteady feet, Ginny rose and looked down at Harry. He didn't even seem to notice he wasn't holding her anymore, and that made her cold all over. To be stuck in this house was only bearable because she had Harry, but most of the time it seemed like she didn't even have that small consolation. She wandered into the kitchen for some water and found a note from Tonks. She'd left? Was Ginny wrapped up in her own little unimportant dramas that she hadn't even noticed?

She cast a glance over her shoulder and pulled open the bag of Floo powder by the fireplace. With a toss of her hand, the flames turned green and Ginny disappeared.

Tonks suddenly looked over at the fireplace from her perch on the couch when she heard the whoosh of someone arriving by floo. She was surprised to find Ginny Weasley standing there, dusting herself off. "What are you doing here?" she asked, not quite as cheerfully as she usually would have.

"Wotcher, Tonks!" Ginny said with forced exuberance. "I found your note, and I think its just rotten you being out here by yourself. I've come to stay with you." She smoothed down her sooty, wild mane of hair and smiled hopefully up at the young Auror. "If that's alright with you..."

"Well, I can't say I wouldn't appreciate some copmany so, come on in, have a seat, and I'll make us some tea. Does anyone know you're here?" Tonks asked, getting up and walking over to the kitchen. "Because we should at least let Dumbledore know you're here."

Ginny gratefully accepted the tea and sank into a chair. "No. I just left, and I didn't say where I was leaving. They would have tried to stop me, and then they'd..." She sighed heavily. "I just wasnt' up for the arguing. I can't be in that house anymore, Tonks. I just can't."

"That's okay, I understand, really I do," Tonks said, thinking back on what Fred had said, her face turning red with anger. "But, we should at least tell Dumbledore so he doesn't think you've run off into trouble."

She brought a tray over with two tea cups, some biscuits, and a steaming kettle. "You can stay here as long as you want, so long as you don't mind a bunkbed. I wasn't planning on sharing the flat ith anyone."

"No, I don't mind a bunkbed," Ginny was relieved Tonks was letting her stay. She dreaded the scene when they figured out where she was, but for now, she had peace and a flat that wasn't looming about her and making her feel like the world was about to cave in. "Do you... do you think I might get a job to help pay for it? I could work in Muggle London and now one would even notice me."

"I think you'd be a lot safer coming to work with me and finding a job at the Ministry of Magic. To be honest, I'm not sure Dumbledore will go for you being alone after what happened. But, I am sure you'd find something to do at the Ministry. Ever thought about becoming an auror? I might be able to talk Kingsley into letting you into the program as it's only just started last week," she said, pouring tea for the two of them. "But, you dont' have to worry about paying for this old flat. It's cheap enough."

Ginny had enjoyed working in the shop, but she wasn't tied to it. Perhaps being an Auror would mean she'd actually get to be proactive in this battle against evil. "I'm never considered being an Auror, but I'm not opposed to it, I suppose. Do I have to pass any entrance exams or anything?"

"Well, you will have had to have done well on your NEWTs," Tonks said. "And there's usually a lengthy application but, I'm sure that could be waived. Kingsley is pretty much heading up the aurors in our department anyway and I'm sure if you wanted to at least attend some of the classes to see what you think, he could be pursuaded to let you in. But, you don't have to do that. I mean, there's all sorts of jobs at the Ministry. I always thought Arthur Weasley's department was... Oh, but, you'd already know about that," she continued, her cheeks flushed in embarassment.

Ginny plunked her chin into her hand that was propped on the table. "I did decently on my NEWTs, I suppose. I'm just not really... good for anything, I suppose. I did well in my classes, but didn't really excel in any. I played Quidditch well, but not well enough to go out for a team." She sighed and stared at her hand cupped around the tea cup. "Maybe I should just go back to that dreadful house and wait for this blasted war to end so I can be Mrs. Harry Potter and produce little Potters. Seems that's all I'm good for."

Tonks moved to sit by Ginny, sitting sideways on the chair with her legs crossed so she could face Ginny. "You are good for something other than the production of little children. You just haven't figured out what it is you want to do. How about you come with me to the Ministry of Magic tomorrow and I can take you on a little tour. I'll show you all the various departments and maybe you'll find something that sparks your interest," she said, encouragingly.

Ginny smiled thinly and nodded her agreement. "I know you're right. We'll just wait and see what tomorrow brings." She took the pot and refilled both their cups before she added, "I think I've been a bit of a git lately. You left the house today and I didn't even realize it. I feel kind of awful about that, and about..." She had been staring at the spoon that stirred her tea, but now she rose her eyes to meet Tonks'. They were still brown like hers, which was a bit disconcerting. "Something has hurt you, Tonks, and I saw it in your eyes and I didn't say anything because I was too busy being self-involved."

"Oh, don't worry about it. I wasn't really there long enough, anyway," Tonks brushed it off but, saw Ginny's slight hesitation when she looked into her eyes. Pointing at her face, Tonks asked, "You want me to change it?"

Harry had been thinking about Ginny's question and his thoughts wandered elsewhere. When he realized what he was doing, Ginny was walking out of the room. Harry groaned and tried to follow her to the kitchen, but when he got there, found that she was gone. He sighed and sat down at the table with his head in his hands.

"George, the person I've found is Fred, and you can't do or say anything to change that. He's sweet and fun and he likes me too, just the way I am. Just as I like him for who he is. I don't want to try and change him or make him out to be some kind of Prince Charming. I just like Fred," Hermione said, thinking that she may never get her point across.

Ginny cocked her head at Tonks and considered the offer. "I wish I could change my face as easily as you cahnge yours. Then neither of us would have to worry about me being spotted. I suppose you ought to change it before we go anywhere. I'd hate to have someone else die because people want to kill me."

George looked at Hermione. She just didn't see, and the fact that she didn't see proved his point. "Look, Mione," George's voice got gentle. He really did like this young woman, and it pained him to cause either of them pain, but they were blinded by emotion. "You won't mean to change him, but he'll change. He'll stop being boisterous. He'll try to be more clever, because you're more clever. And you'll change too... you'll try to change the way you think and act, both of you, because you want make the other one happy. And what will you do in a few years when you realize that you have no one to talk to and he realizes he has no one to make him laugh? You'll be stuck with someone who isn't who they were when yougot together and still isn't the person you should be with."

George stood up and crossed to the door. "Just think about it, Mione. Consider it."
