The mouth of the road is barren, characterized by huge rocks and crumbling boulders that leave in one’s mouth the taste of dirt, rusting metal and steady, very very dusty erosion. You breathe, you cough. The sky is orange, ready to kick up a sandstorm anytime. All is dust.

The fork in the path opens up two routes: The left comes to a dead end, a wall of rock and sandstone, and the right leads onwards, farther into the rocks, and you find that the scenery begins to change. Shrubs seem to sprout of the ground, trees commence to rise. Within fifteen minutes, all is green.

Welcome to Forest Delgo.

Delgo starts with a cheerful green clearing but, as you go inwards, the trees begin to grow thicker. There is the smell of wet mud in the air, and you know from it that, somewhere, there is water. Farther in, the starts of a stream begin, and the water gathers speed, transforming into a pure, gushing river as it goes on. Much, much deeper in, there is a waterfall but, for now, you can not see it.

Vegetation is, by no means, scarce. The trees are pretty thick, happy types that do not scare in the least, even at the points where they shut out much – or all – of the light. There are songbirds around but, deeper in, there are other creatures, perhaps wilder, perhaps tamer. Not where you stand, though.

Where you stand is nothing but green land and blue sky.

"Coffee?" he repeated, surprised at the sudden change of subject. "Sure, let's go get ourselves some."

Where had Indigo gone? Viad wondered, but was not worried, about her - she had always been such a good girl in front of him! An' she had been here before with him. But the other kids?

"KIDS!" Viad called out. Where the heck were those kids? They had better come quick. Wasn't any of them hungry?

Fyo rolled his eyes as the sound of Uncle Henry's familiar booming voice collided with his eardrums, before turning towards Lissy. "Let's go see what he wants," he said, gently taking her hand in his own, as he set off in the direction Uncle Henry's shout had come from. "We can have some breakfast, too."

What could UH possibly have to say, at this time of the morning, Fyo wondered. Another of his lectures? Maybe because we've overslept. Or so Uncle Henry would undoubtedly think.

Her eyes looked at him, lovingly. He was so caring. Caring her like whoa. Look at him. How much he concerned about her! His face went blank and colorless for few seconds untill he made a point about her safety. She nodded, "Leave it Fyo. It was just my stupidity."she was trying to calm him down. Will it work?!

"Really? You have a stock here?" her eyes brightened up, happy. Mmm..gonna be a very good morning. "So what's our programme today?" she asked, stifled a yawn. Sleepy head.

"Of course," Fyo said, smiling lightly at her surprise. Coffee was a good thing, when you knew you might need to stay awake, late into the night. A very good thing. "It's good for keeping one's eyelids open, isn't it?" he asked her, as they walked together, towards Uncle Henry.

"Dunno," he said, shrugging when she asked their day's programme. "What I want to do is have a swim, but I don't know what Uncle Henry has in mind. I hope he won't be too controlling."

There those kids were! At least two of them anyway. Viad's eyes narrowed as he realized it was the Fyo kid and the Alice girl....... an' they were walkin' hand in hand. Would they never understand?

"You two!" he said, pointin' at them. "Come have breakfast." Breakfast was always such a scattered meal, with half the people sleepin', half strollin' away....... Viad didn't like that. "I have bread," he announced.

The kid was hungry, eh? Viad watched him eat with satisfaction, glad that the kid was being 'good' for once. As far as his own breakfast was concerned, Viad had had it at six in the mornin'. But where was the Torin kid? An' the Reese girl?

"What about the other kids?" he asked gruffly. "An' where's Indigo?"

Pausing in the act of taking a much-wanted bite, Fyo glanced up at Uncle Henry, whose furious mood from last night seemed to have diminished, considerably. "I don't really know," he said truthfully. He was missing Reese. He wondered if she was still asleep. Guess she is.

He shrugged when Uncle Henry asked about Indigo, though. "She and Torin went on a walk," he said, restraining himself, with difficulty, from rolling his eyes. "No idea where they are, now."

Indigo had gone on a walk with the Torin kid? Viad nodded, takin' this in. At least that Torin kid was in good hands now. Indigo was always such a good girl! An' she knew this place well, so there was no danger for either of them.

"What do you kids want to do after breakfast?" he asked the Fyo kid and Alice girl gruffly. "Do you want to see this place?"

Wait a second - was Uncle Henry really asking them what they wanted to do, later on today? Wow, this man was too awesome for words! Fyo would have whooped with joy if he hadn't known that would immediately dampen Uncle Henry's mood, and send him into an angry rant.

"Sure," he said brightly, when UH asked if they would like to see the place. "But it would be lovelier if we could discover it on our own - well, that's what I think anyway, I don't know about the others. If there's an area I shouldn't go into, though, you can tell me about it."

Discover it on his own? Was that what the Fyo kid wanted to do? Well, good spirit even if it meant Viad wouldn't be controllin' the boy's actions. "You can do that if you like," he said, after a moment's thought. "Place is okay, just don't go too far into the trees to the left. Stick to the right. An' don't swim out too far into the river."

He shrugged, then said, "I'll ask the other kids if they want to see the place with me when they come. If they want to explore it on their own that's fine with me, as long as nobody comes back complainin' of a broken leg."

This was better than he had dared to expect! The fourteen-year old's mind was already whirring with nice, cosy plans. It looked like he could have that much-wanted swim of his, after all. Purrrrfeccttttt.

"No problem," Viad replied. "Eat up...... I'll be back in a moment. Just make sure you keep ORDER and don't do no stupid huggin' stuff." He stood up, glared at the Fyo kid, glared at the Alice girl, an' then began to walk away. Where were Indigo an' the Torin kid? They should have breakfast.

The abrupt order for "order" made Fyo pretty much choke on his bite of bread. He coughed, sat up straighter, and shook his head after Uncle Henry, whose figure soon disappeared into the distance.

Tea sounded like a good idea, right now.

Alice nodded her head in agreement. "I know. I was just kidding" she stuck out her tongue at him. "I'm bad. I'm so obsesses on this coffee thing right from my 10th year.." she giggled and brushed off her hair from her face casually. She was all messy. Bath. Needed a bath. It would be better. She felt like smelled like mud and wood. Eeeeew!

"Better he should allow us or..." she smiled mischievously, thinking of other ways. She sat next to Fyo and looked at the breakfast. Bread, tea and where was coffee?!

"Yes. I know it was too early to get obsessed with coffee. But..still I managed to do.." she giggled and pulled her knees to her chest. It seemed a perfect morning. Everything was so right. The weather, place, mood..everything. She shook her head at him, "Umm..nothing big. A nice bath would do wonder..I guess" she looked down at herself and turned her gaze back to him, grinned.

Yay. Coffee! He was awesome. How about a nice hug?! Mmhmm. She giggled inwardly. "Much much better. Thank you Lion." she winked and poured some coffee to a large cup from the container. Relief. She took a first sip and enjoyed the strongness and aroma of the coffee with closed eyes. "Amazing.." she inhaled it once again.

"Wait till we get to that river," he told her. "I'm going to throw you in, seriously I am." Well, not really "throw." But he had gotten the point across - or so he hoped - and that was fun.

Amazing? "Are you talking about me?" He teased her, as she praised the coffee. What was go good about that thing, anyway? He needed to taste this for himself. Fyo made himself a mug, taking a sip - and choking.

"It tastes like dried-up seaweed."

Alice shrugged her shoulders, "Dunno. It just happened. My mom said it was just 'cuz one of my friend's sudden demise. She was so close to me..my neighbour" she sat there quietly, drowning into her chain of thoughts.

His funny words brought back her to the earth. "Throw? Gah.."she gasped as threw her head back playfully, "But Alice will not be afraid of this.." she raised her brow at him, giggled.

Amazing! He was in great mood too. Alice looked at him and chuckled at his reactions after he tasted a sip of coffee. "I see." her voice was mischievous. She took another sip of coffee before pulled him closer and kissed him. "Now?" she winked and licked on her own lips. Tasty. Yummy.

Oh. The sudden, not-so-happy news saddened Fyo. It was hard to lose people, really hard. Goodbyes were.... disastrous. Too disastrous. Gently placing an arm around Lissy, he took a deep breath. "I'm really sorry," he said quietly. "I didn't mean to bring up an unhappy memory."

Her next words brightened him up, though. "Don't be," he told her. "Because that's just the way I want it." He didn't want her scared while he was around! Besides - Oh gosh, she had just kissed him! Fyo shook his head, trying to snap back to reality, before suddenly grinning at her. "You're crazy, Butterfly. But it feels good. Feels real good."
