The Secret Garden

This is an RP between Archer Burton (Jessiqua) and Gabby Burton (WhittyBitty). They met and instantly fell for each other. Adventure seekers, and Slytherins, they packed themselves up in Archer’s magical tent, and together, travelled the world.

Along the way, they made two beautiful girls; Valeria and Liana

Scene List
Scene One; after meeting in the Leaky Cauldron, and Archer having invited the beautiful Gabby to a beach in Brazil, the two decided to meet up again in two weeks time, and travel to Brazil. Archer brings his tent, and Gabby brings her glorious self.
Scene Two; from Brazil to France, from the fun first time meeting, to the serious conversations they needed. Gabby tells Archer about her past.
Scene Three; While visiting family, Gabby and Archer make a baby discovery.
Scene Four; Back in England, in their tent, Lynley (Gabby's boss and friend) comes over to meet little Valeria.
Scene Five; Gabby and Archer have Dimitri and Alana Burton over for dinner, in their tent - England.
Scene Six; The Burtons are at home in the tent, and Valeria starts to walk!

The last few weeks HAD been amazing. "The best weeks of my life," Gabby said. There was no question about it. This... being with Archer and travelling with him... it had been something that had been missing from her life. "It really wasn't. I was serious about it." Just putting that out there in case he had been wondering about that.

She kissed him and then laughed mischievously. "Oh yeah. You know that I love to have fun and be the life of the party." So yep. She had her share of flings as well and he was not alone there. "Well, you're the only person I've really committed to as well." So it wasn't weird that he hadn't until now. Even though she had been in relationships and married, she never had really felt steadfast to anyone... until now.

He couldn't really say it enough. She made him so happy. He was incredibly happy. And grounded in life! No more need to escape every place he set his feet on. No more need to avoid settling down. Why had it been something he constantly avoided? He didn't need to avoid it. It was wonderful. "Good," he said, looking into her eyes. "I've never felt this serious about anyone as I have with you." His voice was getting low and husky. These were real feelings he was talking about! Well, he NEVER.

Archer just laughed. "I know you do. Which suits me. I like being around the life of the party," he kissed her cheek. "I used to think things were a lot of fun. I'd meet people, I'd make friends, I'd have flings... but it was never as much fun as THIS is. Never." He was almost at a loss of how to explain the way he was feeling.

It made Gabby really happy to hear that he was feeling the exact same way as she was. OF COURSE she had already known that and hadn't doubted it for a second... but it was still nice to hear it. It never would stop being nice. Archer made her so happy. She couldn't remember ever being happy like this before. Setting her all but forgotten coffee off to the side, she put her arms around him and snuggled in.

"Well, you're the life of the party with me." They were both fun people and had more fun than she had ever had in her life until now. She smiled as he kissed her cheek. "I feel the same way." Though it could be hard to describe! And she was starting to feel hungry. Gabby was feeling much better now and because of that she was getting her appetite back. "I'm getting hungry..." Yep.

He had to agree with that one. They really were the life of the party together. He and his lady.

"I am too," He said, giving her one last kiss before straightening up and going to the kitchen where he had been soaking some crabs. He lit a flame outside and started cooking the crabs, serving them with salad and sauces. He brought up two glasses of wine. It was never too early. "Here's to... Archer and Gabby and their adventures," he said, holding his glass up for a toast.

Scene Three: England
Garcher Baby *DISCOVERY*
Setting: Burton Cottage

Trying to keep her nausea at bay, Gabby smiled at Archer. He was being his usual amazing self, but she didn't have time to say anything else because everyone was saying hello to her. Instead, she squeezed his hand again.

There was a redheaded girl, then Archer's brother who she remembered was named Alex. "Hello, nice to meet you both," she said with a smile as Archer explained who she was. The man who joined them next had to be Archer's nephew and the woman with him had to be his wife. "Hello," she said to them both while trying to be polite because this was an important meeting. She hated small talk and it would have been easier to plod through if she didn't feel sick to her stomach. As it was she managed to keep a smile on her face; she was nothing if she wasn't strong and determined.

The little kids got a glance, but Gabby wasn't really one for children. At least Archer seemed to be. He was a really good uncle. It seemed like EVERYONE here was a child but that was to be expected since it was a birthday party for Archer's nieces and nephews. The shy boy was introduced as Teddy and the girl must be Ava. Wow, it was shocking to see how different they seemed to be from each other. "Hello, Happy Birthday." Hopefully they would like their presents but then who wouldn't like what they were giving them? "Oh, hi Zhenya," she added as she was given a hug. Hugs weren't really her thing besides when it came from Archer but she supposed that it was okay to have her personal space invaded during a special occasion. "Happy birthday." Archer had told her that Zhenya's birthday was a day after Teddy and Ava's. "Everything's going well so far," besides the fact that she felt she was going to be sick... "Thank you. You do too!" Obviously she looked amazing but compliments were always more than welcome.

As she looked around at everyone who had assembled, a strong wave of nausea hit her, making her feel worse than ever. "...I think I'm going to be sick again." IT WAS TERRIBLE.

...He smiled adoringly at Gabby. Who... actually didn't look completely okay. But he wouldn't bring attention to her like that, not in front of everyone.

"Oh, thank you," Zhenya replied. It was nice of her to remember her birthday too. Perhaps Archer had said something. She just smiled. She didn't know what to do with compliments but coming from Gabby it was very nice.

Lisabel had closed the door, and spotted Archer. Another adult, good. "Archer, come here," she said, with her arm extended for a hug. "And you must be Gabby," she said, turning to the woman he was with. "Alex and I have heard a lot about you. Italy, he says you are from? Just wonderful, I was in Italy once as a little girl. Ooooohhhhh, the pizza and gelati were amazing..." she paused mid-sentence at the announcement that Gabby was feeling sick. "Are you ill?" she asked. "Come to the kitchen, I can get you some water and you can have a sit down. Archer, what have you been feeding Gabby?"

Archer looked bemused. "Nothing that I haven't been eating! They say the water in Mexico is a bit funny... did you swallow some when we went swimming?" he asked her. He grabbed her hand and put his arm around her waist with the other one, just in case she needed support or comfort.

Sweet Merlin. She was going to be sick all over the place at a children's birthday party. In front of her partner's family no less.

Gabby was NOT going to let that happen. Nope. She was strong and determined so she put all of her effort into keeping it down. She couldn't even say anything to Ava or Zhenya right now; it was too risky. She had already said her birthday wishes so it wasn't as if she was being rude or anything. Still trying hard to be polite in spite of everything and normally she didn't give a toss what people thought of her. This was for Archer and she wanted to get along with his family. Obviously they would all love her because she was wonderful even when feeling sick.

As a woman who she assumed was Zhenya's mother walked over to them, she managed a small smile. She was talking, but Gabby merely nodded in reply because she couldn't trust herself to say much of anything else. Yes, she was Italian, and yes the mention of pizza made her stomach turn even more. Gelato sounded good, however, and Archer supporting her made her feel a little better just because contact and support. But she didn't want to go to the kitchen!! "No. Smelling food makes it worse." So could she please be taken elsewhere?

Maybe she HAD swallowed some water in Mexico...

Archer was always so loving and caring to hers and Dima's kids. That was one of the reasons that made him a great uncle and brother- in- law. Alana hugged him back. "Hello, Archer! The same can be said for you.'' She lowered her voice to add in a whisper. "It's about time I meet your girlfriend.'' Alana turned to Gabby. "Hi, Gabby. It's finally good to meet you.'' She frowned a little. "Are you alright?" The other woman's smile seemed somewhat forced. She was concerned when Archer supported Gabby and Alana couldn't help but overhear the bit about food. Something clicked and suddenly, Alana had a suspicion. "Gabby? Is it okay if I stay with you?'' She wanted to ask some questions.

Archer gave Alana a wink. "We'll have to have you and Dima over for dinner. When we're back in England... whenever that will be." He was losing track of the places they had visited and set their tent up in, but the nomadic lifestyle was theirs.

He was getting a bit worried now. Lisabel and Alana were both worried about Gabby. He was, of course, too, but... maybe it wasn't just the bad water.

No. Smelling food makes it worse. Did Lisabel hear correctly? She exchanged a glance with Alana, who had wanted to stay there. Lisabel blinked. Yes... yes, smelling food would make it worse. "Right, well... you'd best come out to the guesthouse then," Lisabel said, and led the way through the back door, walking down the pathway and opening the door to the sitting room of the guesthouse. "Take a seat Gabby," she said, and she went to get a glass of water. She sat down on the table in front of Gabby and looked her over. "Now, when was your last..." she glanced at Archer. Oh Merlin, the two had been together a year. She made a gesture instead of coming out and asking. When was your last you-know-what.

Leaning into Archer made Gabby feel a little bit better in terms of being comforted, but she was still feeling very sick right now. She needed to get away from all these people because she thought she was going to hurl and there was no way that she was going to do that around kids. As it was, all she could say to Alana was, "yes." The gesture was appreciated but she didn't think she could manage to say anything else at the moment.

Following after Lisabel, Gabby made her way over to the guest house with Archer. Alana was obviously coming with them but she wasn't really paying attention to that because she was more focused on making it there without throwing up. It was only when she was seated that she was sick. How disgusting was that?! "I'm sorry," she said apologetically. Even though she wasn't one who usually apologized, this was Archer's family and they were important to him and she wanted to get on with them well. Throwing up in his sister-in-law's guest house wasn't the way to go about it...

And why was she being asked THAT?! A LITTLE personal and nothing to do with water in Mexico. Gabby was tempted to say 'none of your business', but held her tongue. She was too sick to care all that much and these people wanted to help her feel better. Plus she didn't want to be rude... "Err... I'm not sure. I know that it was over a month ago. Why do you - oh crap." Her eyes widened as she caught on to what the women were hinting at. "Archer... I'm LATE!"

Alana slipped away from the rest of the party, following Archer, Gabby and Lisabel. She knew she could be jumping to conclusions but as a mother of two, she recognised these symptoms. She was about to ask about Gabby's... cycle... when Lisabel beat her to it.

"That's what I wanted to ask,'' she said with a little smile. Wouldn't it be great if Gabby was pregnant? Another member to the Burton family! How exciting that will be! Then Gabby confirmed it which caused Alana to exclaim excitedly. "How wonderful! But I think we should confirm it. A test, perhaps?''

Just think! Another Burton!

What was Lisabel on about?

And Gabby?

Archer frowned, his mouth flapping open and closed like a fish. "What? We're here, the party started at 12, and it's," he looked at his watch, "It's only half past. We were here half an hour ago Gabby. Lisa we aren't late." What was his sister in law getting at, accusing them of being LATE? And then he turned to Alana who seemed to be thinking the same thing! "N-no, no test, we aren't late, we're here on time." What TEST could prove them to be late? What did it matter anyway? They made it to the party, wasn't that enough?

Honestly, what was going on?

He looked between Gabby, Lisabel and Alana, trying to figure out what they were all talking about. It was the first time they had all met Gabby, and here they were telling her she was LATE? That was a bit rude. He expected a little better from Alana and Lisabel...

This was almost too much to bear and Gabby was reeling.

Not only was she sick, but her mind had started going back to the last time she had thought she was pregnant. She had been slightly late and, acting too fast, had married Marco. By the time she realized that it had been a false alarm she had already loved her baby. Any child of HERS would be greatly loved... but what if this was another false alarm? She had just realized that she WANTED to have a family with Archer and she didn't want to go through that again. It would be too much for her to bear and she didn't want to experience it ever again.

Feeling like she would throw up again, Gabby nodded and took a deep breath. She tried to push the sickness away and found some relief in the fact that she couldn't smell food anymore. "Yes, a test but I don't know how to do one..." Her attention shifted to Archer, who was being such a man. Honestly if this wasn't such a serious situation she would have found the whole thing adorable. "Not that kind of late. I might be pregnant." So basically he might be a daddy but she didn't know for sure yet.

Alana looked over at Archer with almost a pitying look on her face. In all honesty, she did want to laugh at him. She thought she would have gotten past it but with each word the man uttered, the situation became funnier than ever. Alana could stand it no more and burst out laughing, clutching at her brother- in- law's shoulder.

"Archer, you silly man,'' she said in between laughs. "We're not talking about you two being late to the party.'' The woman looked back at the possibly expectant younger woman as Gabby explained to Archer. "That's what we mean, Archer. A baby.'' Alana was so happy for these two if it were true. "I have some of those tests at home, Gabby, not to worry. If you like, I could Disapperate home and get you one.''

Pregnant?

She might be pregnant?

His mouth fell open, and he blinked, his mind buzzing. He sat there for... how long, he didn't know. His mind was racing. Pregnant? A baby? He... a father? He never thought that day would come.

"Pregnant? In... here?" he asked, placing a hand against her abdomen. It was flat, like always. He couldn't even imagine there being anything inside of there. But Gabby, Lisabel and Lana all seemed to be in on it, their minds all making the same conclusion.

And then with Lana's laughter, his spell broke. He smiled. "You should do the test!" he said. He wanted to know! Was he going to be a father? And Gabby a mother? Together? To this one little child, growing inside of her? Something they had made together?

Well, thankfully Archer had caught on to what they were talking about. Men could be so silly sometimes, but that didn't matter to her really because she loved him so much.

"Yes, in here," she said smiling at him as he touched her belly. Clearly he was as shocked as she was... but he didn't feel the extreme nausea the way that she did. "I think I'm going to be sick again..." This time poor Alana got covered. "So sorry!" Disgusting but she didn't really care right now because there were more important things going on. VERY important.

If there was something that she could do now that was amazing. "Please do. I don't want to go through another false alarm." The thought of having a baby with Archer was so amazing that it was overwhelming, but she couldn't help feeling afraid that it wasn't going to happen. She hadn't wanted her last child at first because she hadn't loved Marco, but she had ended up loving her baby and wanted her to have a family. It had never happened. The only man she had ever truly WANTED to have a family with was Archer.

"In there,'' Alana confirmed too with another laugh. Her brother-in-law was a funny man. She couldn't help but entertain the amusing thought on if he needed to have a breakdown on how the fetus was formed. She would tease him about it but she knew he was just in shock. Both him and Gabby were.

The next thing she knew was that her future sister-in-law was complaining about being sick one second and the next second she, Alana, was covered in vomit. "UGH!'' Disgusting! The pungent odor of stomach juices was mixed with... "Is that chocolate ice cream, I smell?''

With a wave of her wand, Alana vanished the vomit though some of the odor remained. She would need a long shower! "Another false alarm, Gabby?'' she asked curiously. Had she and Archer already been through this?

Archer laughed. He actually laughed. Not at Gabby, he wrapped his arms around his beautiful partner, after Lana had vanished the vomit. He hadn't even realised he put his hands in it, but that didn't matter. It was all gone. But Lana realising there was chocolate ice cream in there? It was just all too surreal. So there was a baby in his partner's tummy? He smiled at Gabby, looking into her eyes. "Are we going to have a child?" He knew that the answer was yes, this was a rhetorical question. But... he was just not sure what else to say...

But what was Gaby going on about with another false alarm? He frowned at her, a frown of concern. "What do you mean another false alarm, Gabby?" he asked with concern. His excitement turned into worry. He placed the hand back on her tummy and turned to Alana. "Do... do you think you could disapparate? Discretely... just... just in case..." he was saying.

Lisabel stood up. "I can come with you if you'd like Lana?" she asked her daughter-in-law. She thought perhaps the two would like 5 minutes by themselves...

"I'm sorry!" Gabby repeated as she watched Alana vanish everything away. She really couldn't help that she was very sick and the revelation hadn't made her feel any better because she was shocked, excited, and scared at the same time; way too many emotions for her to deal with. "I've found myself really liking ice cream this last little while and it's one of the few things that doesn't make me feel worse." Maybe she really WAS pregnant. The symptoms seemed to fit... Sighing, she leaned into Archer. She wouldn't ever be sick on him if she could help it. "I think we are. I'm pretty sure we are." Still she wouldn't let her hopes get up too high just in case; it would be too much for her to deal with.

It was wonderful when Archer put his hand on her stomach, but she didn't like that he was concerned. Somehow she hadn't told him about this. It was something that she didn't really like thinking about. "That's why I got married," she admitted. Well, she hadn't married Marco out of love - that much was apparent from the start. At least they would know for sure in a few minutes.

Lana decided not to point out that Archer had put his hand in vomit but gracefully vanished every speck of it. The odor still lingered heavily though. "Oh, it's nothing to worry about, Gabby. I know that you can't help it.'' She smiled widely. "Dima was a victim of my little throwing up tantrums many times. Be prepared for that, Archer.'' She went about checking to see she hadn't missed any of the sick on herself and Gabby. "Your baby will have a sweet tooth.'' Alana decided that they were all barf free. She shook her head in amusement at Archer. Yes, that's what they said. You will be a father soon.

Alana was sympathetic towards Gabby with the situation that caused her to get married. She patted the other woman on the shoulder. "It's alright. We'll find out soon enough.'' She nodded in Lisabel's direction. "Let's go.'' Disapperate, get the necessary items and Apperate. "We'll be back in no time, you two.'' Off she went!

Archer HAD noticed the increased desire for ice cream. He just thought it was due to her female things. But apparently not. Right. Okay. He nodded, deciding he might just have to stock up their tent with different ice cream flavours.

"Thanks ladies," he said to Lana and Lisabel as they apparated to get a test. He had no idea what the test was going to involve but... apparently the women did.

"Are you feeling okay?" he asked Gabby, turning to her. "Are you worried about it not being... not..." He didn't know what to get out. "Are you worried it might be like it was last time?" he finally got out. He didn't want her to worry. "Did you take a... a test the previous time?" He leaned over to plant a kiss on the side of her head. "I love you Gabby. We're in it together. Whatever it shows. Although.." he grinned "I really do want to be a father."

Lisabel arrived at the house with Lana, and she followed her to where she needed, keeping her distance to allow Lana some privacy if she needed to dig in some bathroom drawers. "Well this will be exciting if it's positive," she said, although she did have her misgivings. They'd been together a year, and they had appeared never to have had a discussion about whether they wanted children or not. She never thought of Archer as having children, but the look on his face suggested otherwise.

It made Gabby feel better to hold on to Archer even though she still felt sick and more emotions than she could handle; those feelings would be kept at bay, however. It was something that she was good at doing - but then was there anything she WASN'T an expert at? Hardly. "I'm still nauseous and I'm worried," she admitted though she wouldn't have told anyone else that. She could be vulnerable around Archer and it was a wonderful change. She had never thought she could be like that around anyone but in the last year she had realized that she didn't always need to feel guarded. "It was different and I didn't know how to confirm it." Why she was almost certain this time and would have been positive of the fact if it wasn't for a niggling doubt in her mind.

"I love you too," she said with a smile as he kissed her cheek. She so wanted to kiss him back, but didn't know about doing that when she had just been sick. Even if he didn't care, she sure would because she wanted to give him the best kisses. "I really hope I'm pregnant. You will be a wonderful daddy." Gabby had seen him with Alana's little ones earlier and wondered if she would be a good mother. Well, whatever happened they were in it together like he had told her.

Alana excitedly bustled through the draws on the cabinet that stood in the bathroom of hers and Dima's house. Where had she kept that pregnancy kit? "Yes, it will be! Another member of the Burton family... this is definitely exciting.'' Still reeking of chocolate ice cream and stomach juices, she pulled open the small door over the draws. "Got it,'' she told Lisabel the moment she spotted the kit. "Let's go. I'm sorry to keep you waiting. I couldn't remember where I left it exactly.''

With the kit tucked safely in her hand, Lana Disapparated back to Archer and Gabby. "We can have a definite answer now, you two. Here, Gabby.'' She held out the kit. She trusted that the other woman knew how to use one. If not, she could help.

Lisabel stood waiting, giving space whilst Lana went to find the kit. She was smiling at the thought of holding another child in her arms. Of course this baby would not be a grandchild, but a precious child nonetheless. "Not at all Lana," she said, waving the apology. And back they went...

Archer nodded, taking in what Gabby was saying about the previous time she had thought she was pregnant. "Is the nausea a bad thing?" he asked. He knew nothing of pregnancy, except obviously how to fall pregnant. Of course. And that it took 9 months to grow, and how it came out, but other than that he was oblivious. He ran a hand through his hair. He knew nothing. He was so unprepared. Were other people supposed to know about this when they fell pregnant? Other men, that was? Would it be easy to learn? He turned back to her. She wasn't his wife yet. He hadn't thought about that, either. Merlin, what had he been thinking of?

Gabby. She was the best part of his life now. And they were possibly expanding on that. Would he have to share the love or would his love grow? He wasn't sure. But now was not the time. He didn't want to marry her just because she was pregnant, like her previous marriage. "And you will make a wonderful mother," he said to her. Would he really make a good father? He did love kids but he never really did much with them as infants... he'd have to learn though. If they were pregnant.

At that moment, Lana and Lisa came back with the test. He felt his heart racing, flutters in the stomach. "Okay well... what do we do?" he asked, looking at the women. "What do you have to do? Do you need help?" It wasn't a camera of some sort was it? Or a potion, or a blood sample? How did one even test for these things?

Obviously it was for HER, but as far as the baby was concerned... "I think its okay because most women have it, but I really don't know much." Wow, she was so unprepared for this. Obviously she knew a few things, but not enough to be a mother. She was so out of her depth and honestly scared that she wouldn't do a very good job of things. But...she had Archer. Archer who she loved so much. They were in it together and that made her feel better. If only her nausea would abate... She took a deep breath to try and keep it away. "You really think I'll be a good mother?" She wasn't so sure of that but she was happy that he believed that she would be.

As the other two women returned, Gabby gave a small smile. Well, she wasn't smiling for very much longer. She explained everything to Archer before shaking her head. She was okay. She was a Slytherin after all. And now they would know for sure.

"...I'm pregnant." To say that she was in shock was an understatement.
