An Ivy-Covered Cottage in Germany

In the countryside of Heidelberg, Germany, nestled in the wizarding district of the community, lies a cozy cottage set against a wooded backdrop. This is the home of Ethan and Minerva McCarthy, a place where they can explore their lives after Hogwarts.

First Scene -
Summer 2082, following Minerva's Hogwarts graduation and completion of Ethan's first year at Wizarding University, the two make important summer plans.

Morgan laughed as one of the players flew right into his hand and then spiralled to the floor. That was funny! He could make them all crash. Maybe this was fun after all and he become a little more engaged in his own kind of game with it.

Gunnar frowned a bit at Alejandro. Morgan could be a pest sometimes, but he was his little brother and he was protective of him. No one else was allowed to say anything negative about him. Well, maybe other than Chloe. "No, he's fine here with us boys." But that's all he was going to say about it because he liked his cousin too.

"Oh neat! I like to watch Quidditch." Not so much play, but it was fun to go to a game. He watched as Ale pulled out another player, this time it was his Aunt Mariel. "Oh, wow," he chuckled as he watched her fly around, giving Morgan a look as he knocked some of the players out of the air. "Morgan... you don't have to make them all crash."

They seemed to have gotten all the makeup in the bag before Aunt Min came in to see what they were doing. And that was good because she didn't want to get in trouble, even if it probably wouldn't be her who was in trouble. Giggling too, she ran after Chloe, following her into her room. "Oooh, formal dresses!" Yes, she could get completely on board with that. Regina loved to dress up and dress nicely.

She watched Chloe put on a yellow dress and she looked at all the others she pulled out. "I like this pink one." It was her favorite color of course and she picked it up to pull over her head. And now it was makeup time! She watched the makeup spill out then she immediately picked up the blush brush. "I can do it!" She was an expert at makeup, did Chloe know?

Once her mother in law had come for the children Minerva took to getting ready. She had went out shopping yesterday and bought all new clothes just for tonight. This time ten years ago Minerva had been walking down the aisle with just family and a few friends. She had been nervous about the future but not of the man she was meeting at the end of that aisle. They had so many life changing events about to happen that year and saying I do had been one of them.

While she did her hair and slipped on her heels she thought about that day and the days that had come since. She wouldn't have changed any of them. She was more in love with her husband every day. He was an amazing man who took care of them, loved them, and adored them. She loved him for that and for being her best friend for all these years.

Coming out to the living room she looked for her purse and rechecked her makeup in the mirror. She had made reservations at a French Resturant they had never been to. She was hoping it would be a fun night.

Where had the time gone? Ethan could hardly believe they had been married ten years and had three children, but also that he was pushing thirty. It sort of felt like his twenties had simply flown by. But he supposed that was what happened when people were busy and had their hands full with kids. Time did fly by.

It didn't take him very long to get ready, and so he was waiting on Minerva as he scanned the daily news. Wow, he really was an adult, wasn't he? But he was glad to be going out, and he might have a surprise in store as well. Ethan looked up as his wife entered the room and he gave her a bright smile. "Don't you look lovely. Are you ready to go?"

Her blue eyes landed on him and she stood looking at him for a moment with a smile. "Do you like it?" She'd never admit it but Elliot and Maxwell's words about not looking twenty hit a spot to her and she was worried about looking older. She wanted to look good for her husband still and she spent plenty of time working out with her dancing.

"You look very handsome tonight." Walking over to him she leaned down and gave him a soft kiss. "Anything going on in the news today?" Picking up her purse she checked to make sure she had everything. "Yes, I'm ready." She was excited to get out and have an evening with her husband. This was going to be fun.

Ethan smiled back. "Of course I do." His wife was beautiful but he knew that she had some insecurities about herself for some reason too. He kissed her back, then folded up his newspaper as it seemed that they were both ready to go.

"Eh, not really," he said, getting up from his spot on the couch. "Nothing too exciting at least. But you know what they say. No news is good news." At least nothing bad was happening, he supposed.

"Well, I'm ready too, then," he confirmed with a smile as he headed towards the fireplace to floo. "After you..." He was looking forward to a good time and to celebrate.

She couldn't help but smile at him. He never gave her any doubt that he didn't find her attractive even after three children. She kissed his cheek as she slipped her purse over her shoulder. Going to check and making sure that the animals all had food and water she turned back to him. "Yes, it is." No news was always good news from what she had come to find.

"What all do we have planned tonight? Dinner and..." She had made the dinner reservations, but she figured they'd go from there. See what all the night could give them. Her inlaws were amazing at keeping the kids overnight. With her grandmother being alone now and getting up there in the ages she didn't like to leave the children alone at night with her.

She headed to the fireplace and walked through to head to the restaurant. "

Oh, always one last thing before they had to go, Ethan thought with a chuckle as Minerva kissed his cheek and checked on the animals. But it was probably smart, and he waited that extra moment by the fireplace for her.

"Dinner and... we'll see," he said with a smile to finish her sentence. "I'm still allowed a few surprises up my sleeve, you know," he added with a wink. And finally, they were really ready to go. He followed after Minerva into the fireplace and flooed to the restaurant.

Having reservations already, Ethan went up to the host station and gave him the name. It wasn't long before they were escorted to and seated at their table where a dozen red roses were waiting.

After ten years she was glad he still had surprises up his sleeve, though he didn't need to they were still nice. She adored they both still loved to make the other happy and they didn't want to just be together because they had to, they still wanted and loved each other so much. Following him through the fireplace she waited as he talked to the host.

Walking with him she gasped at the roses, "Oh Ethan they're beautiful." Leaning up and kissing him before letting the host pull out her chair she took her seat. "This is so lovely." How she ended up with such an amazing husband, but she did have a surprise for him. One that she was incredibly nervous to give. She had been saving up for a while for it.

As they sat down she pulled a card out of her purse. In the card was a long letter written to him about how much she loved him, about how much he changed her life for the better, and how blessed she was to be his wife. It also included traveling information for one of the biggest Herbology conferences done in the world that would be held in the United States.

Ethan smiled at Minerva's reaction to the roses. He knew once upon a time ago she wouldn't have cared for them at all, but it was one of his favorite ways to show affection and he was glad she enjoyed them again. "I'm glad you think so," he said, kissing her back and taking his own seat.

He wondered if now was the right time to share his surprise, but it seemed his wife had a surprise of her own. "For me?" He took the card that she had pulled from her purse and he took a moment to read it. Wow. It was really touching and he couldn't help but smile to himself. "This is really sweet, Min." And he kept reading. "The United States?" Was this a him thing, them thing, or family thing?

She watched him a bit nervous about his reaction. She knew he loved herbology, he always had. Even though she was terrified to get an owl saying a plant hurt her, she knew it was his passion and she supported that passion anyway she could. Her lips curved in a smile as he questioned, "Yes, I asked around to make sure it was the best one to go to. I spoke with your mum and she said she'd watch the kids if you want to have some company." It had been forever and a day since she had been int the States and she was excited at the thought of getting away with her husband and being there again.

Looking at the waiter she asked for a bottle of wine, no need to just a glass, they were celebrating ten years of marriage. That was a bottle fully. Plus they were kid free for the evening so why not live a little. "Do you like it? Are you able to get off work for it?" She had thought about owling his work, but she had been afraid they might say something and ruin the surprise.

This was going to be fun, no this was going to be great, no this was going to be EPIC! Chloe had been running around the house trying to get everything she wanted ready. This task wasn't easy when you have a dog nipping at your heels thinking you were running around to play with him. "Oggie not now, I have to be ready." She was too excited to play with the dog.

Grabbing her sleeping bag and pulling it to the living room she started to push at the coffee table. If they moved it closer to the couch they would have more room to put their sleeping bags together. Though maybe they should get the chairs from the kitchen and build a tent. That could be a great idea.

"GUNNAR HELP ME MOVE THE CHAIRS!!"

She looked at the clock and tried to figure out the time. She had been learning the hands and stuff, but really the muggle digital was so much easier. She knew Aunt Mariel would have Regina and Alejandro over for their sleepover soon.

Okay, sure Gunnar was excited about having his cousins over for a sleepover, but really, Chloe needed to relax. It wasn't as if they never came over or they never saw them. And it was still a little bit before they were coming over. He had a Lego building to complete.

He couldn't help rolling his eyes a bit as she yelled for him. "In a minute!" he yelled back from his room. The ten year old just needed a couple more pieces before he was ready to stop. That one... and.......... that one. There. It wasn't quite finished but it would do for now.

Getting up, he headed into the living room to see his sister pushing on the coffee table and he watched her a minute. "What are you doing?"

What was she doing? WHAT WAS SHE DOING? [b] "What does it look like I'm doing? She pulled a chair from the kitchen as the feet drug across the floor. "I'm building us a tent. Then we can sleep in it instead of just in the normal boring living room." Wasn't that the coolest thing she could have done? "So if you would like to help me I'll give you some credit so you can be the cool cousin too, if not I'll take it all for myself and be the coolest of us all." She smiled as she placed a chair in the living room in the exact space she wanted.

"We need blankets to cover it too." What blankets did they have that were big eough. She stopped to think the chairs now lost in the back of her mind. "The closet has some big blankets." Mom and dad's comforter was big too, could she steal it from their room.

Taking off she headed to the closet and started pulling blankets out. "How many do you think we will need?"
