Minerva finished making breakfast as she hummed Christmas songs. She knew her family would be up soon and hearing Oggies bark for his breakfast she was sure the kids would be awake, "No barking. Goodness it's coming." She set down a pancake she made special for him.

Turning to put the rest of the food on the table she stopped and listened. Where they up? She thought she heard movement, but it could have been Elise in the living room. Oh no, she headed for the other room to make sure the cat wasn't going after the tree.

Chloe was sleeping so peacefully. She was dreaming about dolls and candy. Her little smile flickered across her face as she dreamed. Her blanket wrapped around her and her teddy squished against her. Hearing a faint noise her dream started slipping away.

It's Christmas!

She sat straight up and soon was out of bed.. "Santa came? Let's go Gunnar." She took off out of the room.

Yes, those were definitely the sounds of his children, Ethan was sure of it now as he quickly got dressed. Not that he could blame them. What child wasn't excited on Christmas day? And Oggie too? He wasn't sure why the dog was barking, but the thought of him being excited as well was kind of amusing to him. As he headed in to the living room, he caught sight of Elise headed for the tree as the rest of his family seemed to just be coming into the room as well. "Happy Christmas, everyone," he smiled, as he picked up the cat just before she darted under the tree. "Too much of a temptation, hm?"

In no time, Chloe was awake and out of bed. Faster than Gunnar expected really, and he quickly followed after her into the living room. Oh wow! He stood and looked at the decorated tree and the piles of presents underneath for a moment before running over. "Mommy, look!" He turned and saw Daddy coming in too. "Look, Santa came! We got presents!" Could they open them now? He got down on his knees and pulled the first one towards him, looking for his name. Which one was his?

"Oh thank heavens" She saw Ethan grab their cat before she did any damage to the tree. Not that she would, but no taking risks on Christmas morning. She smiled sweetly at her husband and gave him a quick kiss, "Merry Christmas honey." There were still some cultural things she held onto from her childhood. Turning her blue eyes she saw her children coming quickly into the room. "Good morning you too." Smiling as they headed towards the gifts she nodded toward Gunnar. "You can open."

Though she did need the camera. Heading out of the room she was back in a flash with her camera ready to get some great pictures.

PRESENTS!!! Did everyone see how many, "This is awesome!!" She stopped and watched, was it okay to start opening them? Seeing Gunnar go towards the presents she followed as she heard mommy say they could open, "I want one." Did he see one with her name on it? She sat down near him and started moving presents trying to see if she could read her name. She had been practicing with mommy and knew it started with a C, but none of these had a C yet.

Ethan smiled back at Minerva and returned the kiss. "I'm sure there might be something for you too, Elise, but keep those claws away from the tree." He set the cat down and watched her sprint off into the other room. Looking towards the sound of small, excited voices as they reached for presents, Ethan grinned at their children. Christmas was always the best with little kids.

"I'm sure there's one or two for each of you," he joked, knowing that the majority was for the kids. He took a seat on the couch preparing to watch them open presents in all their excitement. "Do you need help finding yours?" But they both could figure out their names well enough, he figured, that it wouldn't be a problem.

Gunnar was so excited for presents that he barely noticed Chloe sitting down next to him. He was more focused on finding a wrapped package with his name and once Mommy said he could open one, he quickly pulled the one that was clearly marked "Gunnar" towards him.

He started to tear it open when he heard Chloe say that she wanted one and he gave her a side glance. Oh, she needed one too, he'd feel bad if she didn't get a present. He paused in his paper tearing to scan the presents closest to him. Oh! That one said "Chloe". "Here you go!" he said cheerfully as he slid a package with penguin wrapping paper to her.

Now he could get back to business! He finished opening his present and pulled out a building block set. "Look! Daddy, look!"

Breakfast and coffee forgotten Minerva took a seat next to her husband and started taking pictures of the children. They were always so cure. Noticing a present move on the other side of the tree she chuckled and shook her head, "I think Oggie might have found a gift that is for him." She watched chuckling as the little dog scratched and bit at a gift she had wrapped full of dog treats.

She smiled as Gunnar handing a present to his sister, he was always such a sweet child. She was so blessed by having such caring kids. "What did you get Gunnar?" She snapped a few more pictures as she looked to see what they were unwrapping.

She was still looking for presents when Gunnar said one was her's. "Thank you" Pulling the present towards her she began ripping it open. The paper was fun to tear and throw and the giggles coming from the three year old were getting louder.

"I WANTED THIS!!!" She squealed as she saw the doll house that sat in front of her. Forgetting about the other presents for a few minutes she started trying to get the box open thinking that it was going to be exactly like the picture once opened and not in many pieces.

Having something of an eventful day at work, Ethan was glad to be headed home. He had gotten a minor injury after trying to confiscate some illegal snargaluffs and the new employee that he had been working with hadn't been paying as close attention as he should have been. Long story short, he ended up with a cut up arm, heavily bandaged under his shirt sleeve. It wasn't immediately noticeable being hidden under his shirt and it wasn't a terrible injury, but he knew how Minerva felt about plants, especially certain ones. He could keep it quiet for the moment at least. He didn't need to worry his wife, especially when she was seven months pregnant. No unneeded stress right now.

Flooing home, he headed into his living room. Not immediately seeing anyone just yet, he took a seat on the couch, leaned back, and rested his eyes a moment. It had been a long day.

Chloe was in the living room playing with her dolls. They were being dancers like she was at mommy's studio. The girls were doing ballet moves and the boy doll was trying to catch them. She had seen some of the older kids doing this while walking around the studio.

Hearing the fireplace her green eyes lifted and she grinned as her daddy came through. "DADDY!!!" Jumping up she took off as fast as she could towards him opening her arms and dropping the doll that was in her hand. Jumping when she got close she expected him to just catch her. She always just expected it!

Ethan turned at the sound of the voice and he gave his daughter a tired smile. Once she started running, he opened his uninjured arm and caught her, letting out a soft groan at the force of her weight. She wasn't heavy but the sudden leap into his arms knocked the breath out of him momentarily.

"Hello, Princess," he said with a chuckle and kissed her on the top of her head, grinning as he balanced her on his hip with one arm. "How was your day today?" He took her back over to the couch with him and he sat down, his green eyes falling on her dolls. "Busy playing with your dolls?" He half wondered where the rest of his family was at the moment, but he was sure they weren't far and would be in shortly.

She grabbed Daddy's arms and glanced down. "You have padding on." She patted something that she felt. Hugging his neck she grinned, "I went to dance and played in mommy's office. Then we went for ice cream! Mommy eats lots of ice cream now." They got to go there almost everyday. She liked her mom having a baby if it meant they got ice cream everyday.

"You play dolls with me?" She would love if someone would play with her. "How was your day daddy?" Her green eyes looking up at him as she kept hugging him tightly.

Minerva was in the middle of making dinner when she heard Chloe's excitement and Oggy go running from the kitchen towards her husband. Laughing she headed out of the room as well just in time to turn into the living room to hear her daughter say something about padding. She gave Ethan a puzzled look, but said nothing. Maybe Chloe was feeling his sleeve or something.

"Hello" She set down in a chair and rubbed her ever expanding stomach. The little one wasn't being very nice to her today and was enjoying her ribs. She rubbed it's foot out of her side as she smiled at two of her loves.

Ethan's eyes fell onto his injured arm as Chloe mentioned padding and he gave her a small smile. "Daddy just needed that for work today." No real need to say anything more about it to his young daughter, though he'd probably have to say something to Minerva soon enough. And speaking of his wife, he gave her a smile as she walked into the room. "Hi."

He turned back to their daughter as she told him about her day. "Well, that sounds like a great day. Aren't you lucky to get to have ice cream so often." He remembered a time he couldn't even look at ice cream, but he supposed he didn't mind indulging in it every once in a while, especially with his family.

"Sure.. let's play with some dolls." Still holding her with one arm, he sat them both down on the floor next to her toys. "So how was your day," he asked Min, turning towards her while he grabbed a doll. "Little one treating you well?" She looked a little uncomfortable and imagined she had to be feeling more and more that way, getting later into her pregnancy.

Gunnar had been busy coloring in his coloring book at the kitchen table when he heard voices in the living room. Oh, Daddy must be home! He watched Oggy run that way and Mommy soon following after. He took a big drink from his cup of apple juice then climbed down from his chair before heading into the living room as well.

"Hi, Daddy!" he said cheerfully as he joined him and his sister on the floor. Were they playing dolls? Not his favorite, but he could play too.

He needed it for work? That was interesting and Chloe looked at his arm poking it gently. "Why do you need to wear it for work?" Did he always wear stuff to work? Soon her thoughts were back to her baby dolls as she was put on the floor with daddy. Picking up one of her favorite muggle dolls, she handed it to him. "You be Ariel." Picking up her favorite witch doll, she took it over to her daddy. "Now you be a muggle like Grams and Pap Pap. I be you and mommy."


Moving the doll around she looked up at her brother for a moment. "I playing with daddy." He didn't need to come and ruin it. After a minute she picked up a boy doll, "Here you be a muggle too." She went back to playing with her doll trying to talk to them. "Why can I only tell Grams and Pap pap about being wizards?" She knew mommy told her the answer many times, but she couldn't remember.

Sitting rather uncomfortably she looked a bit more concerning with their words. "Wear what to work?" What was Chloe poking at. She couldn't notice anything different from where she was sitting, but there was something that had to be there or Ethan wouldn't have commented the way he did.

Her smile grew as Gunnar came to play with them. "Chloe, Gunnar can play too. There is room for everyone." Rocking a little in the chair she watched them all play and shook her head towards Chloe's question. She had just had this same conversation earlier with her. She either just liked to ask it or she needed her hearing checked.

Her blue eyes lifted to Ethan as he spoke to her, "Oh it's been a good day. We have been just cleaning around here. I feel like I can't keep the house cleaned up enough lately." She was certainly feeling the last term of her pregnancy with the need to clean, exhaustion, and feeling huge. "Oh you mean this one that likes using my ribs as a punching bag?" Again she was rubbing a part of her belly that a foot was pushing against. "I can't say I would be too upset if the little one would like to make his or her entrance early." She chuckled a bit, not that she didn't love being pregnant, but she couldn't wait to finally find out what they were having.

Persistent, wasn't she? Ethan chuckled as his daughter kept asking about his arm. He should have known it wouldn't be that easy to keep it quiet for a while. And of course it drew Minerva's attention too. Might as well just come clean about it though he would downplay it because he didn't want her to worry needlessly. "Oh, I just got into a little scrape at work," he said, giving Min a small smile when she asked. "Not a big deal." He glanced back at Chloe. "It's just like a band-aid."

He took the doll from her and started dancing her around, then glanced back at Min as he played, trying to converse with her as well. "Well, that's good.. The place looks great to me," he added with a chuckle. He thought she always kept the house looking nice, even with having two young children, but he knew that late pregnancy thing seemed to make her feel like she wasn't doing enough. "I guess he or she will be out soon enough." Hopefully for Min's sake, sooner than later. He couldn't imagine how she'd feel if she were overdue.

"Hey, buddy." Ethan smiled at Gunnar as he came over, not even fading when Chloe expressed that she was playing with him. "Oh we can all play together, there's room enough for everyone." And he was glad to see Chloe give her brother a doll too. Hmm, that was the question, wasn't it? "It's just like we told you before. Some people don't have magic and they don't understand about it."

Gunnar made a face at Chloe. He was his daddy too, and he was allowed to play. And then he gave her a smug smile when Mommy and Daddy told her that he was allowed to play. See? Taking the doll from his sister, he shook his head. "I don't want to be a muggle. I want to be a wizard like Daddy." And that was what he was going to play.

He walked his boy doll around, then looked at his mother as she talked about the baby. "When is the baby coming out of there, Mommy?" He stared at her big stomach. He knew there was a baby in there because they always talked about it, but he wanted to know when it was coming out.

Daddy got a boo boo? Chloe looked at his arm and then at his face, "Daddy needs boo boo bunny." She got up from the floor and went into the kitchen pulling open the freezer. Grabbing the ice pack she came back into the living room. "Here daddy." She smiled before looking to Gunnar.

"No, you muggle. My dolls you play what I say." This was going the way she wanted, daddy would play right. He knew how to play dolls fun. She acted like she was hiding a wand from the muggle dolls. If they were going to play together then Gunnar needed to play right. Huff!

"But why don't they? Why aren't they all witches? Why is Grams and Pap pap muggle but mommy is a witch?"


Minerva's eyes widened as Ethan said he got hurt at work. She didn't care if he was sugar coating it or not, it was a plant that had done it. "What, how? Let me see." She got up slowly and waddled towards him. She wanted to see for herself that it wasn't bad.

The place always looked good to him and she was grateful he was so appreciative of what she did around the house and with their children. It still wasn't clean enough for her. "The nursery needs to get finished as well. We also need to figure out the name finally." She chuckled a bit wondering if they were ever this long with the other two. Of course the baby wasn't helping any.

Listening to Chloe she shook her head, such the questioner. "Mommy's mommy was a witch and her daddy was a muggle. That's how." She wasn't trying to be snippy, but she was just exhausted from the day and all the questions were just getting on her nerves for some reason.

Looking to Gunnar she tried to smile, "In September, though babies come on their own time. You were very late and Chloe was very early."Though Chloe was a miracle within its self after the car accident that brought her to the world so early. She was glad this one seemed to be going by the book. It was nice to have a normal happy pregnancy. Even the illness didn't bother her nearly as much this time around.

This was starting to turn into a bigger deal than it really was but he hoped that he could keep Min from being too upset about it. Ethan smiled at Chloe as she went to get the boo-boo bunny then pulled up his sleeve to show Min his bandage since she wanted to see. "It's just cut up some, it's really not that bad." But he wasn't going to take the bandage off to show her just now, it needed to stay on till it healed some more.

"I'm sure it will be finished in plenty of time, and if it isn't I think the baby will be alright with it." It already looked done to him, to be honest, and babies couldn't tell anyway. "Thanks, Chloe." He took the ice pack and put it on his arm. He didn't really need it at this point, but it was such a sweet gesture.

He raised an eyebrow as she got bossy with Gunnar. "We can all play how we like, it will be fun." He made his doll move around, and chuckled at the questions from both Chloe and Gunnar, letting Min answer both.

Whatever, Chloe. Gunnar lost interest in the dolls quickly anyway and tossed it aside. "I don't want to play dolls anymore. Let's build a castle, Daddy!" He went over to get his box of blocks out and pulled them over.

September.. was when he started school again, right? At least that was what he remembered being told, he was still learning the months. And he would be going to kindergarten at the big school this year! He nodded at Mommy to show he understood, then he made a face. "I'm not late, Mommy!" He was right on time, see?

Minerva's looked at his arm the best she could with a disapproving look. She eyed her husband a bit more before going to sit back down. "I'll take your word for it, but you know how I feel about those plants." She was very proud of her husband, but was terribly worried all the time about him. She always kept the fear of plants even if it had eased throughout the years.

Yes, she knew the nursery would get done, but she was at the point of her pregnancy that patience were not in the cards. "We just really need to put some more focus in it. Plus I have to get school clothes for both of the kids and make sure everything is set up for Gunnar and kindergarten. So much to do and it's going so fast." She rubbed her stomach as she thought about everything.

She chuckled at Gunnar, "Not right now, when you were in mommy's belly. You didn't want to come out. " She laughed thinking about it, "We were celebrating Aunt Ari's birthday when you decided it was time." She remembered being so miserable being so late, she really hoped this one didn't do the same.

Daddy was happy with the bunny and Chloe went back to playing with her dolls. " Why can't grandma and pap pap be wizards like us though? They are with us all the time." She wasn't happy with the answers she was getting and she just wanted to know all the reasons.

"I born on daddy's birthday, because I special." She beamed only stating what people had told her before. Though in Chloe's mind that was why she was so great, she was special just like they all said.

Gunnar didn't want to play anymore, she glared at him and chucked the doll at his head. "You never want to play. You always want blocks." He was just trying to take daddy away from her and she wasn't having it. Moving she climbed on his lap and put her arms around his neck forgetting about the arm as she did. "I looooooove you daddy." She smiled all innocently so she could keep his attention.

Minerva didn't go and pick up the children like she was suppose to, no she had to calm her nerves before she could tend to her children. Seeing that man after all these years and if at the moment she had mixed feelings, she just had to stop the trembling that her body was doing.

Letting the dog out she moved to the kitchen and got herself a drink of water and sat down at the table. So much was going through her mind. Her mother's things, her thing, Justin, Gabby, an entire part of her family that was wanting back into her life. She wasn't sure what to make of any of it and she was damn sure she wasn't going to make her husband happy telling him she had run into a Blaze.

It had been something of a long day at work filled with endless stacks of paperwork, and Ethan liked those types of days least. He much preferred working in the greenhouses or even out in the community, but such was not the case today. Still, he had some news that he was rather excited about and he was eager to tell Min.

Carrying a gift bag given to him by a co-worker, Ethan flooed home and stepped out through the fireplace. Huh. He was usually greeted by excited children and a barking dog. Today he only got a passing glance by their Siamese cat. Where was everyone? "Hello? Anyone home?" he called out as he set the gift bag on the coffee table.

She sat still numb from the days events at the kitchen table looking at her glass of water. How could she have run into the person she wanted to see the least. Though Edward was the only one that was nice to her and she realized quickly that she would have been fully alone if he hadn't talked Leelee into taking her in, though she was miserable while she lived there and after he had married Gabby he was gone and so was she.


She heard his voice, but her legs weren't carrying her. She looked at the glass some more. How was she going to tell him about the day. He wouldn't be happy. He would be upset. This family had caused her nothing but pain and now she had let them back in.

Finally moving her head to look at the doorway, "In here" was all she got out.

Oh? Well, Minerva was home, Ethan soon realized, as he heard his voice, and he turned his head towards the direction of the kitchen. He picked up the gift bag from the coffee table and walked into the other room, figuring that she was working on dinner. But it didn't appear that way as she was simply sitting at the table.

"Hello, sweetness," he smiled as he set the bag onto the table. "Betty insisted on getting Morgan a gift for his birthday." The receptionist at the Environmental Protection department was definitely the best. She was always so thoughtful about his and his co-workers' families. And he had already peeked inside to see the stuffed jarvey and cute outfit but he'd let Min open that to see for herself.

Something was definitely off though and his smile faded a bit. Minerva looked like she had something weighing on her and the kids were nowhere to be found, or at least he didn't hear them. "So what's going on?" he asked as he took the seat next to her at the table.

Minerva heard his voice and looked at the doorway. She watched as he came through with a gift bag. How was going to tell him the family that wasn't even allowed to be mentioned around her was now back in her life even if just for a moment. She watched her husband's facial expression change as he looked at her. "That was nice of her." She tried to say about the gift, but her voice was more shaky then anything.

Taking a sip of water she wasn't sure where to start. []b "I went to meet Ariana today for that modeling of her new line she wanted me to do. I stopped at the Leaky and ran into Edward Blaze."[/b] Just the name brought emotions to her and she bit her lip trying to control them.

Something was definitely wrong. Ethan could tell by Minerva's expression, the shakiness in her voice, and the fact that she barely glanced at the gift he had brought home. Not that the latter was even that important, but it was unlike her to not get a little more excited about things like that. As he took a seat at the table, he focused his attention on her as she spoke.

"Wait, what?" Now that was a name that he hadn't heard in a long time and he'd have preferred to not have heard it again. She had long gotten away from that family, even if he knew that biologically they were a part of her, and he hadn't expected them to ever be a part of her life again. That would have been for the best. And he didn't really know where any of them currently were, but he didn't really expect them to have made a reappearance on one of Min's random trips to London.

"So what happened? Are you alright?" Physically, she seemed to be alright, though she was visibly shaken up. Ethan immediately set on edge. He wasn't going to let anyone harm her or anyone else in his family. "What did he want?" Even just the few words she spoke suggested it wasn't that she just saw him from afar. It was obvious that they spoke, or had some sort of interaction.

She knew the reaction she was going to get and it was exactly what Ethan had given. As I stopped for lunch I had turned to look for a table and he was sittin there drinking. He noticed me and called me over."[/b] She could have just walked out, but she didn't she had to be polite that was just her. "He was really nice I was the one very cold. He told me I reminded him of Leelee and the Blaze family." That bothered her more than anything else. She was no where near them.

Picking up her glass she sipped the water that was left in it. "I told him I knew Leelee had died and he said he was there when it happened. Tried to tell me she really cared about me." Ha! She knew that wasn't true at all, "Him and I are the last of the family other than our children." Which again her children were not Blazes. She pushed aside the similarities Chloe had at times.

"He told me he watched Justin get killed too." Tears filled her eyes as she said this. She was the reason he had even met them.

What were the odds, really? Ethan almost wondered if the man sought her out and it wouldn't really surprise him. It wouldn't be unlike someone in that family to use nontraditional means of getting what they want, and then maybe play it off as coincidence. He almost mentioned that to Minerva as well, but sat and listened to what she had to say first. And him putting on a "nice" facade while she remained guarded didn't surprise him either. "You are nothing like that family. I'm sure he meant only in physical resemblance." And that was simply DNA, it was nothing that could be helped and didn't at all mean that someone was like another in thought or morality. He knew she was better than that family, that was why she got away from them.

"Wait... Leelee died?" Did he miss something? He was sure that he would have remembered that. And while maybe that wasn't the point of what they were talking about right now, it seemed as though his wife was keeping something from him. He frowned a bit at that thought as well as her next words. Perhaps somewhere very down deep the woman cared about her but she had a terrible way of showing it. "No... our children know nothing about them and they don't need to. They aren't a part of that family." Even if they had a small genetic tie to them, he saw no reason at all to bring their very innocent children into any of that. It was his duty to protect them.

"Justin...?" Ethan looked at Minerva and frowned as he saw tears well up in her eyes. Sliding his chair a little closer to her, he put his arm around her. "What... what happened?" That was also rather shocking to hear. He hadn't known Justin all that well, but he knew he had once been a fiercely loyal friend to Min and was a decent guy. He certainly didn't deserve whatever happened to him.

Ethan reassuring her was helping. She wasn't like them, no, they turned their backs on her mother and again on her just because her father was muggle. Oh ridiculous of a thing now a days. Really, who cared if witches and muggles married. It simply was just absurd. She nodded, "I know I'm not. I'll never be like them. I look like my mother that is it, but she wasn't truly one of them either." She had ran away from them, fallen in love, and married against their belief. She was the strongest woman Min had ever known, but never realized until it was too late.

"She did, I didn't tell you when I saw it in the paper. It really didn't seem important to say. Their work isn't safe and they all know that. It said she was killed on the job, which I figured she tracked the wrong person." She couldn't imagine what it would have been like, nor did she care. "He said Gabby found my mother's things and all my things Leelee refused to give me in her room when they were cleaning it out." She wanted that stuff so bad, but wasn't going to put anyone in danger for it. "He told me he'd send them to me, but I told him no until I spoke with you." She would never do anything without Ethan being aware of it, "He'd like to have a relationship with us. I told him even if it was something I would consider, which again was going to be discussed between us first. Plus it would be adults only until I fully trusted him. His oldest just started Hogwarts so the Blazes will be there with our children." Something else she just realized when he spoke.

Leaning against him she let the tears fall, "I don't know. He didn't really explain, but I could only imagine. Justin was working for him. He had been since we were kids. I was shocked when he went after Alberto, but that was at least a muggle. Who knows who they were after when it happened." She was blaming herself, she had been the one to introduce him to them. If she hadn't lived there at all, if she would have just went to her grandparents right away. Maybe this wouldn't have happened.

"No, she wasn't either," Ethan told Minerva, trying to reassure her more than anything. He had never met her mother, but from what he knew about her, she was never anything like the rest of her family. "Maybe you are like your mother, but that just only speaks more to how much unlike the rest of them you are as well." And he was sure she knew that too, but he imagined that it wasn't what she wanted to hear from Edward.

He nodded a bit as he listened to her say about seeing Leelee's death in the paper. It wasn't that he was mad, just more surprised than anything that she didn't share that with him. But he supposed she was right, it probably wasn't all that important. She had cut ties with them long ago, which was certainly for the best. "Do you want your mother's things though?" He couldn't imagine why she wouldn't, though maybe that would send Edward the wrong message. He didn't want him thinking they would be that receptive either. "I just think you should be careful. Maybe it could be sent to someone official to look at it for any dark magic placed on it." He wouldn't put it past anyone in that family to make some last effort for cursing.

"No, I don't know about that," he said, shaking his head. His wife was all too forgiving and he wondered if she was really considering allowing that family back in to theirs. That just seemed like a bad idea and he didn't like the thought of it at all, even if it was just adults first. He certainly didn't like the thought of their children being involved either. It was far too dangerous and it was up to him to protect them. It was his job as a father. He didn't even think of the man having children. "It's not really fair for him to tell you that you are the last of the family besides him if he has his own children." And there were probably cousins on the other side as well.
