This thread is to facilitate the RPs and adventures of best friends Rachel Skye Watson (FearlessLeader19) and Hadley Holland Denaker (Callie) as they go through their pre- teen and teenage years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. Mostly, the girls' vacation time away from school will be RPed here.

It wasn't long before the smell of dinner cooking told Hadley it was about done. Rachel still didn't come up and hadn't seen the room yet. Oh well. Hads was too hungry to worry about it.

She got up and put her iPod away, then scooped up Asher, kissed his forehead and laid him gently in his cage. "I'll bring you back scraps," she promised. There was no need to whisper. Ferrets slept like they were dead. Once she'd securely closed the cage, Hadley made her way down to the kitchen.

"I did a thing," Hadley whispered as she slipped past Rachel and made her way to Mrs. Watson. "Do you need any help, Mae?" It wasn't as selfless as it seemed. Her offer of help was more to prevent Rachel from grilling her about what she meant. Her best friend would want to know what it was before she potentially said anything in front of her parents. If only Hadley used her powers for good...

Haddie did not come down by the time Rachel was done setting away the cookies but she thought that perhaps she still wanted to be alone. "Mommy? Should we commence with making dinner?" she called. As often as she could, she would help Mae cook. She would help Phil too but he was away until tomorrow. The girl smiled to herself as she thought of her daddy. She would be having her dad back for Christmas.

Mae strolled into the kitchen. "Yes, Rachel. I expect Haddie and you will be hungry soon. Did you tell her what we'll be having for dinner?''

Rachel shook her head as she began getting ingredients for the Philly cheesestake sandwiches. "I wanted it to be a surprise,'' she replied with a smile.

Mae smiled back at her daughter. She loved that Rachel was so caring. Very caring and loving, actually, and a lot naive at times. "I'll get started on the hot dogs then. Are you sure you can make the Cheesestake sandwiches on your own?''

"Yes, mommy. I made it once at Hogwarts.'' With that, Rachel began the process to get Haddie's favourite food ready. Shortly after, Haddie herself arrived. "Hello, Had-'' What was that? "What did you do?'' she whispered urgently but by then the girl had already gone over to her mother.

"Why, yes, Haddie. Could you help get the dining table ready? Only set three places because Phil will be here until tomorrow.''

Rachel meanwhile, was looking at Haddie with curiosity mirrored in her eyes. She wanted to go check her room immediately but she didn't want to ruin the Cheesecake by being distracted. She would have to investigate later.

Hadley nodded. She'd been here and stayed over plenty of times to know not only where everything was but also how the Watsons liked the table set. With a small smirk she got out the plates and glanced over at Rachel. She was looking for Rachel's expression, but that's not what she noticed. It was what the girl was making that caught her attention. "Are you making a philly cheesesteak?" It was only then that Hadley noticed what Mae was making. "And hot dogs?" This, to Hadley, sounded better and more delicious than any traditional turkey or roast dinner did. "Awesome."

She grabbed three sets of utensils out of the draws, though, would they be needed? So far she was seeing nothing but food you ate with your hands. "Mae? Is it alright if Natalie, uh, my twin sister, comes over tomorrow afternoon? We've never been apart on Christmas before." And Hadley couldn't go home herself, not without the risk of being locked away and forced to leave Hogwarts. "I really appreciate you letting me stay over the Christmas."

Table set, Hadley made her way back over to the Watson women. "I'd offer to help with the food, but you probably value your lives too much for that."

Rachel continued making the Cheesestake sandwiches. Truth be told, she really did enjoy this dish and was happy that Haddie had introduced it to her. She looked up and nodded with a smile. "Yes, it is. I thought we'd make it to surprise you. Mommy thought it was a good idea, too. I wanted to make your Christmas a little better.'' Given everything that had happened to Haddie over the previous summer and with her parents separating, Rachel only wanted to make her friend forget all the negative things in her life for a few moments at least.

Mae neatly stacked the hot dogs on a platter. The condiments and other toppings like cheese and grated carrots would be in separate dishes. Hearing Haddie address her, she turned. A smile, similar to her daughter's, appeared. "Of course. We would love to have her. If you like, she could even stay the night.'' Mae know all three girls might like that. "You're welcome, Haddie.''

Rachel's eyes shone at Haddie's request. Natalie being here would distract Haddie a little more. This was great! She herself was momentarily distracted from wondering what thing Haddie had done. She filled the bread with the meat to complete the sandwiches with a giggle. "You'll probably be eating take out food for the rest of your life.'' Unless Mrs Denaker taught her daughter how to cook. She laid out the sandwiches on a huge plate. "Finished, mommy. I'll move these over to the table.'' Rachel did this and soon after, Mae set the hotdogs down. ''Dinner is served.'' Rachel beamed, pleased with the food. "What do you want to drinks, Haddie?''

Hadley smiled. The smells of her favorite foods was making her even hungrier. "That's...uh...thanks." She wasn't the best at the mushy stuff, but she was trying okay. "Thank you both." She would have offered to carry the food to the table -she could at least do that- but Mae and Rachel had it covered.

When Mae smiled so did Hadley. Not so much because Mae had just offered to let Natalie stay over, but because of how much the woman reminded her of Rachel. "Rachel takes after you a lot. I just noticed that." Yes, it was a compliment. "Thanks, I'll let Natalie know." This was perfect. The year before Hogwarts, despite Natalie increasingly giving Hadley and Rachel the cold shoulder, Natalie had actually grown to like Rach, and missed her like a friend.

When you're a twin it's a bit hard not to become friends with your twin's friends. Usually. Unless your name was Hadley Denaker and it was more due to your twin's friends thinking you were a freak.

Hadley followed the food to the table and was a bit too distracted savoring the aroma of Philly Cheesesteaks and Hot Dogs to register the question right away. "Butterbeer." She had only discovered the drink over a year ago while shopping for school supplies for her first year, but it was quickly her favorite. "Thanks." Hadley took a cheesteak and put it on her plate, and then added a hot dog and some fries to her plate as well. Ketchup and Mustard and cheese were put on her hot dog. "It looks as good as it smells, guys. Really. Have you ever had these before Mae?" With that question, Hadley dug in.

"You're welcome.'' Rachel smiled still. Haddie didn't need to say anything else; Rachel knew exactly how much the gestures meant to her. "I know you would love these. Tomorrow, we'll have lots of traditional, festive food. You can help us prepare them if you like.'' Goodness knew her and her mommy would need all the help they could get.

"Yes, you're welcome, Haddie,'' Mae echoed. She herself loved hotdogs so Rachel suggesting them for dinner was readily agreed upon, especially when she found out why her daughter had suggested it. The woman smiled widely. "She's like me in personality but looks like her father.'' The hair colour, the eyes...

"Butterbeer delivery for Haddie Denaker,'' Rachel said with a giggle as she brought over a jug of cold Butterbeer. She then went to fetch three glasses to fill them with the beverage. Once that was done, she took a seat next to Haddie and filled her plate with a hotdog and a sandwich. "It does smell heavenly,'' she agreed. "You should give me a list of a few more American food that you like.'' She wouldn't mind making them.

Mae was rather enjoying the aromas too. She inhaled deeply multiple times before digging into the sandwich. She took her time chewing, savouring it all. "This is so tasty,'' she said after swallowing. "Never, Haddie. Rachel's right. You should let her know some more of your favourites. I wouldn't mind sampling a few more American foods. Was it difficult for you to adjust to British foods?"

Hadley winced a little. Rachel should know better than to suggest Hads help in anything involving food. "Unless you want to be poisoned, or end up seven or something." She gave her patented shrug. "But Natalie might want to help. She's a good cook..." Sorry, sis. You just got volunteered.

Hadley shook her head, and finished chewing her obscenely large bite of Philly Cheesesteak. It's more than that," she said in between washing it down with the freshly delivered butterbeer. "There's plenty of you in her physically too." The shape of the face, her mannerisms, gestures, etc. That gentle, kind sparkle in her eyes. "Take the compliment, Mae." Because Rachel was one of her favorite people alive, not that she'd actually say that outloud, so it was a compliment.

"Yeah, sure!" Hadley was half way done with her sandwich at this point, and was too focused on it to think of any other food at the moment. "And Mom can even teach you to cook them and then you can make them for your parents to try." She already had some of them at the Denaker's in the past.

Once Hadley was done with her sandwich, she took a moment to savor it and then jumped on the hot dog. "Both are delicious. You both did a great job at them." As for British food, Hadley made a face. "British cuisine is just...weird. Kinda." She finished her hot dog in silence a moment, then sat back, letting it all sit for a moment. De-lici-ous! "So how do y'all do the presents thing? Is it strictly a Christmas morning thing? Christmas Eve? One gift on Christmas Eve, the rest in the morning?" Her own family was a one gift on Christmas Eve the rest in the morning family. And she was dying to give Rachel her gift. Well one of them.

Rachel giggled. "Alright. It's fine of you would prefer to sit this out. I was actually hoping that I would be able to teach you a little.'' She would not force Haddie but she would certainly take up the offer of Natalie helping if the other Denaker wanted to.

Mae looked fondly at daughter who was eating a sandwich and seemed to be listening to hers and Haddie's conversation with Haddie. The woman smiled and looked back at Haddie. "That's a lovely thing to say. Thank you, Haddie. I'm very proud of Rachel, you know.'' Since she couldn't have more children, Mae treasured Rachel but she wasn't over protective as Phil was.

"I really like this idea.'' Rachel was already getting excited about the prospect of cooking new foods. She took a drink of butterbeer. "I will be as though we're all living in America, Haddie, with the constant amount of those foods that we will be having. At least it should help you from being homesick.'' She giggled. "American cuisine is also weird,'' she teased. It wasn't really. Rachel really loved the delicacies.

"Thanks, Haddie.'' Mae laughed softly as she polished off a hot dog. Now she would try a sandwich but my, wasn't Haddie occupied with many questions? "Christmas morning, actually. All the presents are left under the tree and opened then.'' But her present would be Phil coming home. That was all she needed.

"You'll just have to wait for your present, Haddie. No sneaking out at midnight to open then,'' Rachel piped up. "We'll be opening them together.''

Hadley looked Rachel over. "Uh, thanks Peaches, but you're forgetting, my Mom's a chef." And amazing chef. And even she hasn't been able to teach her how to cook. As hopeful as Rachel was that she'd be able to teach her to cook, Hadley highly doubted it. But it was a nice thought.

She gave Mae a nod as if to say you're welcome, and turned back to Rachel, giving her a weak little smile. In order for her to truly not be homesick, Hads would need a beach with amazing surfing. But the food was a nice gesture and did help a little. But living in America? Not really. "American Cuisine isn't weird. It's amazing!" Her smile grew strong and genuine. "One summer, I'm taking you to see L.A. and you can try good, decent mexican food, and I'll teach you to surf." She almost sounded dreamily about it. "And we can try to find all the American Wizarding locations in L.A.!"

Hadley frowned. Not because she was eager to open her gifts, though that's probably how it seemed to the others, but because she was eager to give Rachel her gift. She couldn't wait to see the look on her best friend's face. "Well, then let's go get ready for bed. The sooner we go to bed the sooner you...I mean, we, get to open our gifts." Yep, totally not about your gift, Peaches. Ignore that slip. "Morning only comes once we're asleep." The gifts weren't the only reason she was eager for it to be Christmas. Natalie would be here, spending the night. She missed her twin.

Hadley grabbed her empty plate, carried it to the dishwasher, waved Rachel to follow and rushed upstairs to get into her PJs.

Rachel shook hear head. "How could I when Mrs Denaker taught me some great tips? I only suggested it because you do not seem to be learning very well from her,'' she teased. So she was hoping to help with that. She smiled innocently and angelic as she could. Very sorry, Haddie, but you were possibly the worst cook in Great Britain.

The dark haired girl giggled. "You're right. It isn't weird. I find that I have developed quite liking for American food and I blame you for that.'' She smiled at the plans Haddie laid out. "I would love to visit but surfing? I'm not sure about that.'' Yes, she could swim very much decently but standing on a board while it glided on waves? She was highly unsure of this. "Mexican sounds lovely!''

Mae and Rachel both gave identical chuckles. "Luckily, we're finished with dinner then. You girls go on up. I'll take care of the dishes,'' Mae said. She would have some alone time while she savoured more hot dogs.

Rachel followed Haddie, leaving her dishes in the water. Her mind was back on what Haddie had told her about 'doing something'. "I guess I'll find out soon enough,'' she thought as she waved to her mother then hurrying after her best friend.

Hads rolled her eyes. "You'll love surfing if you give it a shot." She sighed and then perked up in a flash. "I'll let you try and teach me to cook if you promise to let me teach you to surf!" Hadley knew she'd have trouble turning that one down.

She beamed with pride as Rachel blamed her for her newfound love of American food. "Uh, you're welcome!" Because American was superior to British in her eyes. Even if most American food was just borrowed from other countries. Didn't matter. Still superior.

Hadley made it to Rachel's room first, grabbed her pj's and immediately ducked into the bathroom to avoid the lecture she was sure to get. Once changed she listened at the door to hear for her best friend's reaction. "Is it safe for me to come out?"

Rachel was still mulling over Haddie's bargain of surfing and cooking as she climbed the stairs to her room. It even put her curiosity to whatever mischief she had done from her mind temporarily. She really wanted to help Haddie improve her cooking skills but did she, Rachel, want to surf? No, not really but she didn't want to let that fear that lingered about riding big waves keep her back from having fun. "You have yourself a deal, Haddie.'' The possibility existed that she would like surfing just as much as she was growing fond of American food.

Giggling at Haddie's behaviour, Rachel moved to retrieve her own pajamas. The one she wanted to wear had characters from Beauty and the Beast all over it. But with a frown, she suddenly stopped in her tracks. Why did her room look so different? The furniture had been rearranged. So that was what Haddie had been up to! But why?

It was at that moment, she looked properly at the wall and gave a small gasp. What beautiful art work had been done on it. She headed closer, admiring the ocean, the cove and the ship. Rachel smiled as she looked at the two figures. "Peter Pan Haddie and Tinkerbell Rachel,'' she mused as she watched them zoom around, avoiding Captain Hook's cannons. It had to be Captain Hook's with Smee overseeing the cannons.

And then...

"Hadley Denaker! You bring yourself out here this instant.'' Haddie's question had brought Rachel back to reality. Her friend had used magic yet again.

Hadley seriously considered sleeping in the bathroom. Very seriously. But after a minute, she sighed and opened the door. "It's art. For you. How can you be mad at art?"

Rather than let Rachel lecture her, which seemed to be her best friend's favorite pastime, Hadley snatched up her iPod, slipped the headphones on and climbed into bed. "Consider it part of your Christmas present." Sensing that the impending lecture wasn't diverted, she pretended to fall asleep instantly. But she didn't have to pretend long. The day had been rather emotionally exhausting for Hads, and she really was out in a few minutes; lulled to sleep in by The Dead Kneazles streaming through her headphones.

She was dead asleep almost instantly. Asher would have been proud, if he wasn't also in a dead sleep. What do you know? Hadley Denaker avoided the lecture after all.

When Haddie opened the bathroom's door she found Rachel standing with her hands on her hips. "Thank you. I'm not mad at the art. I'm not mad at anything. It's so beautiful! I honestly love the creativity but I'm disappointed because once again you used magic. You know how that would reflect on mommy and daddy.''

Rachel sighed when Haddie pulled out her Ipod. There would be no getting through to her now. Besides, she didn't want to spoil the night and holidays in general though she would have to tell her parents. She cast Haddie a look that said, 'Oh, Haddie. Whatever am I to do with you?' as she changed into her pajamas.

The brown eyed girl went to her bed but stopped abruptly. Why was Sebby green? She whirled around to look at Haddie. This little prank had her best friend's name all over it. Rachel crawled about on her hands and knees, looking in all the nooks and crannies of her room for her own Sebby that the now sleeping Haddie had taken. Finally she was forced to abandon her hunt and she settled into bed, the unknown Sebastian beside her. She tried to hug it but it felt foreign to her and in the end, she drifted off hugging a pink pillow instead.

Early Christmas, before Haddie was even up, Rachel showered, pulled on a Santa hat, a festive jumper and jeans then went down downstairs where she wrapped Haddie special cookies up and placed under the tree. Shortly after, her father arrive home which made her run and jump into his arm. She hugged him tightly around the neck when he lifted her. "I missed you!'' Daddy's little girl remained clinging to him while Mae got breakfast ready and Rachel reluctantly told them what Haddie had done to her room's wall.

She didn't like tattling but she was only doing it because Haddie was breaking the rules. She only wanted to look out for her friend.

Rather than waking up fresh and in a better mood, Hadley woke up feeling even more like she was drowning in her life. Maybe it was due to the fact today was Christmas...the only Christmas that had been spent apart from her family. She felt antsy and anxious, like she needed something. Like she...

Like she needed a change. Something dramatic. Hadley's eyes flicked to her bags and she rummaged through them for the bottle she'd bought at Simpy Stylish in Hogsmeade. Dark red hair potion. A quick read of the instructions, Hadley took the potion and then made her way to the bathroom to check it out.

She almost didn't recognize herself.

It was perfect.

She looked good though. Dark red surprisingly suited her. And already the feelings of drowning in her own skin was lessening. Amazing what a simple change could do. Hadley stared at her reflection for a full five minutes and then grabbed Asher and Wimple. It was Christmas for them too.

Both shoulders laden with animals, Hadley made her way downstairs. Only she didn't get that far. Halfway down the stairs she stopped. The entire Watson gang was standing there waiting for her.

Uh, creepy much.

"What?"

Anyone would think that Rachel was being childish but she really wasn't. This was the first time she was seeing her father since she returned home so she was surely not sorry about having him lift her while they waited on Haddie to descend. She was daddy's little girl and would always be.

She looked at her friend as she joined them and her brown eyes widened in surprise. "You look lovely,'' she blurted out when she got over her shock. Rachel loved the red and thought it suited Haddie quite well. Even her parents agreed.

"Merry Christmas, Haddie,'' Phil said with a smile. He got right to the point, him being a man who never liked to beat around the bush. He shifted his daughter in his arms as he tried to find the right words. "Rachel told me you did some art work on a wall of her room. Now, I'm not against you being creative and neither are Mae and Rachel but the fact remains that you did magic.''

At this point, Mae decided to help out her husband. "While you're under our roof, you're our responsible, Haddie. It also reflects poorly on Phil and I if you continuously use magic.''

"That's right. If this continues, then I'm very sorry but if you can't resist using magic, then I can't allow you back here.''

Rachel was silent through out the entire conversation though she remained clinging to her father's neck an looking sadly at Haddie. Why couldn't her best friend be a little more understanding?

The newly redheaded Hadley shot her best friend an accusatory look, as if calling her a tattle-tale. Then she shrugged. "Okay." That was all. But it was spoken the same way Hadley Denaker normally said, Yeah, sure. Whatever. She descended the rest of the stairs and hopped over the railing rather than try and squeeze past the Watsons.

"Just don't remove the mural okay? It was a gift to Rachel." Speaking of...Hads grinned. She practically skipped over to the tree and pulled out two wrapped gifts. "Part one of your present. I need to go get your other part. Feel free to open them while you wait or whatever." Then Hads was gone.

Wimple tried to find a branch on the tree to perch on, but none could hold him and after knocking off many ornaments the owl resigned to perching on the stairs' railing. Asher on the other hand was doing a ferret war dance, and playfully attacking the ribbons on the presents and ornaments that had fallen.

A few minutes later, Hads was back, holding a large cage with a pure white owl in it. "She's yours!" Hadley announced, beaming. She set the cage down in front of Rachel, so they could meet. "Picked her out for you, so your personalities would be compatible. She counts as both my Christmas gift, and next Birthday gift to you. Plus one of your gifts from your parents because they helped. Merry Christmas!"

Rachel shrugged slightly at the look she was given. She couldn't help it she wanted to help keep Haddie out of trouble. She was surprised at her friend's reaction to her father's words. Only an 'okay'?

Phil and Mae looked at each other. "We won't remove it,'' Phil agreed. "Just no more magic, please.'' He liked having Haddie around though he couldn't understand how his daughter chose such a different girl from her own personality to be her best friend. He barely had time to express those words when Hadide was gone but was provided entertainment in the form of her pets.

Rachel giggled at the antics of Wimple and Asher as Mae left to go prepare their breakfast. Usually, the girl would help but not this morning. Phil and Mae didn't seem to mind. "Wimple! Be careful. Asher, would you like some more ribbons to play with?'' She loved watching the two creatures and wondered where Barkley was.

She turned to look around as Haddie came back. Rachel gasped as she saw what she was holding. Phil sent her down so she could run to examine the owl closer. "She's a beauty!'' She looked at Haddie. "Thank you, Haddie! Thank you, mommy and daddy!'' Rachel was already in love with her owl. "Did she speak to you as yet to tell you her name?''

Just then, Mae's voice rang out to them. "Breakfast is ready.''

Hadley shrugged again. "Deal." They'd only be there for a week or so longer anyway. She could manage that. Especially if Rachel stopped tattling on her. Speaking of, Hads turned back to her best friend and smiled warmly. "Merry Christmas."

She grinned even wider when Rachel asked if her new owl told her her name. "She has!" the Californian said. "And you're gonna love it." Though impossible at this point, the grin seemed to grow even wider. "Rachel Watson, meet Ariel, your owl. She has a very regal personality, perfect for a princess like you." Speaking of, had Rach opened the other presents Hadley gave her. Glancing around she saw her best friend hadn't. "You should..."

Mae cut her off, calling them to breakfast. It'd have to wait. Oh, well. It was the owl Hadley couldn't wait to give Rachel. The rest could be opened after breakfast. Hadley followed her best friend into the kitchen.

Phil was satisfied at the moment when Haddie's response of 'deal' so he nodded before moving towards the Christmas tree. What did the wife get him, he wondered. Leaving Rachel and Haddie to themselves, he began opening his own presents.

Rachel was almost taken aback that her new and adorable owl had already spoken to Haddie since sometimes things took a while to do so. "Do tell!'' she exclaimed rather excitedly. When the name was revealed, she happily clapped her hands. "That's perfect! Thank you!'' She reached out to hug her friend. At that moment her mom announced breakfast but Haddie was about to tell her something.

"What is it? Don't worry about mommy and breakfast. Today is one day she wouldn't mind us lagging.''

Hadley shrugged and sat back down. Immediately Asher and Wimple both made their way over to her as if she were Snow White. "Oh, I was just saying you should open your other gifts from me." Hadley pulled out two gift boxes, one in Christmas colors, and the other black with a pink bow, and passed them to Rachel. Then she grabbed two lumpy, misshapen gifts. She held one up for Wimple, that was vaguely shark shaped. He seemed to get the messages instantly, grabbed the package and flew off to a chair where he proceeded to tear into the wrapping paper. All the while the owl had the most excited expression.

Asher took so prodding to attack his vaguely dragon shaped present, but soon both animals were tearing off the paper to reveal two new plush toys, a dragon for Asher and a shark for Wimple. Hadley turned back to Rachel to watch her open her gifts.

Rachel could hardly take her eyes off of her new owl. "Hello, Ariel. You're so pretty.'' The owl hooted and Rachel knew she understood the words that had been said to her. The girl sat next to her best friend after retrieving the neatly wrapped present. The tag on it said ''Merry Christmas, Haddie! I wish you all the good things for the upcoming year. Lots of Love, Rachel''.

"It isn't much but I never know what to get you. You're a complicated person sometimes, Haddie Denaker.'' Rachel handed over the cookies then excited and carefully opening her presents. Occasionally, she would pause to laugh at Asher's antics. "He's so funny.'' What a hyper and excited little ferret! At one point in time, Barkley turned up to investigate the excitement.

"There you are, Barkley. Where did you go?'' The dog licked her face and then moved to do exactly the same to Haddie. Around his neck was a festive red bow that Rachel had tied on earlier. "Oh, Haddie! These are perfect!'' she exclaimed a moment later. She adored the shirts already. "Thank you so much.''

Hadley looked quizzically at her gift. Rachel knew she couldn't have sweets. So...Then it dawned on her. "Sugar free?"

Cautiously, Hads tried on. Her face lit up brightly. "They're good!" She sounded surprised. Hadley, grinning widely threw her arms around Rach. "I love them, Peaches."

Asher took the opportunity of his distracted Mama to investigate the sugarless sweets and was just about to take a nibble when Hads snatched them away. "Not for ferrets!" Undetered, Asher started to climb Hadley to get to them, but was quickly distracted when Barkley appeared, licking Hadley's face.

Hadley laughed and scratched the puppy behind his ears. "Merry Christmas to you too, Sir Barkley Barkington the Third." Hadley gave him a curt nod and laughed again. Asher, meanwhile, started to do his war dance to entice Barkley to play.

Seeing her opportunity, Hadley wrapped up her gift and stood up. "Let's get breakfast."

"I made them with extra sugar,'' Rachel teased. She hoped they tasted alright. They had been her first attempt at making sugar free sweets. She watched, bothered slightly with nerves as Haddie tested them out. Her face lit up in a big smile when Haddie declared her opinion. "Thank you! I'm pleased you love them.''

She giggled at Asher. My, my. That ferret sure was hyper today. "We'll feed you soon, Asher.'' More giggles happened when Barkley tackled Haddie. "Be a good boy, Barkley,'' Rachel chided. "He spoke to you.'' It wasn't a question. "It's quite lovely to know your full name,'' she added to her puppy. The said puppy had no time with her, however, as Asher distracted him and he hurried off to chase the ferret.

The dark haired girl scooped up her presents carefully. See, she was going to treasure these. "Let's go. Mommy has made lots of the usual traditional foods.'' The presents were neatly placed on the coffee table. She would take them up to her room after breakfast. "Come on.'' Rachel led the way to the table.

"It smells wonderful, mommy.'' Mae and Phil joined the girl so they could all dig into the food as a small but happy family.
