46. TERGEO

A tired Narcissa Malfoy rested in her lavish bedroom, waiting for her husband to bring in their precious new baby. Lucius walked in, holding a tiny bundle of blue silk. Narcissa beamed as Lucius tranferred the bundle into her outstretched arms.

"Good morning, Draco. How is my little boy today?" she crooned. He replied with a yawn and a stretch of his miniature arm that had broken free of its swaddle. Narcissa kissed his little hand, marveling that fingers could be made so small and yet so perfect.

She held him in front of her, nuzzling his tummy with her nose. He hiccupped once, and the little sound made her press her face a little farther into his stomach. Another hiccup, and then a warm, wet feeling on the front of her rose-colored robe. She gasped and wrinkled up her nose at Draco's spit-up, holding him out a little farther from her. He seemed quite content with himself.

Lucius chuckled. "I suppose we'll have to get used to that," he said as he drew his wand. "Tergeo," he intoned and siphoned off the sick from Narcissa's robe. "Then you can take the next deluge," she retorted playfully.

16. Impedimenta

"Oh, they sound like a heard of elephants!"

Narcissa Malfoy and her friends were attempting to enjoy tea and gossip in the Malfoy's elegant parlor.

Cecilia Zabini remarked with a groan, "Well, they're twelve and they're good at it!"

And that they were. Draco, Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle were using the Manor's expansive hallways to race and play Locomotor Mortis freeze tag. They ran up and down the halls, thundering up the grand staircase, through the drawing room, and past the parlor where the ladies were sitting.

"Well, it's time for us to take our leave anyway," replied Georgiana Goyle. "Thank you so much for the tea, Narcissa. Now, if I can only capture Gregory's attention."

Narcissa smiled- she had a plan. As the boys galloped past the parlor again, she drew her wand and pointed it at them.

"Impedimenta!"

Immediately, the boys moved in comic slow-motion. The mothers proceeded to grab their respective sons by the collar. Only then did Narcissa lift the spell.

She saw her guests out and turned to Draco. "Young man, if you ever run through my house again, I'll put a leg-locking jinx on you for the rest of the summer!"

10. Engorgio

It was almost time to leave. Narcissa Malfoy rushed from here to there, gathering her purse from the parlor. She did not want to be late for Twilfit and Tatting's annual fashion show; all the best seats would be taken.

She smoothed the front of her black and gold dupioni silk dress. Darn, she didn't have time to head back to her bedroom for a final once-over. She reached into her purse and pulled out her compact mirror. Placing it on the floor, she called out "Engorgio". Immediately, the tiny mirror expanded to the height of a floor-length mirror.

Narcissa checked herself up and down and, once she decided she looked fabulous, shrunk the mirror and headed out the door.
