A storm raged on the outside, but inside the house Lucia felt happier and more peaceful than she had in several months. It was true what they said about that moment when you first held your baby in your arms - it was the best moment in her life.
Looking at the tiny girl in her arms, the future looked brighter than it had in a long time, like there was a new thread of hope. Like maybe everything would be okay from now on.
"What's her name?" the midwife asked.
The new mother smiled softly.
"Penelope. Her name's Penelope."

{81} Depression September 2085 
She locked herself in her room and had no intention of coming out for awhile.
She felt hollow and yet at the same time like all her insides were twisted into a knot that would be impossible to untie, and her heart felt like it had literally shattered into a million pieces, aching with every depressing thought that repeated over and over again in her head.
It was like a dementor had made its home here in her room with her. Only the ice cold temperature was missing.
Burying her face in her pillow, she finally let the tears fall.

"I'm a leprechaun, y'know," Tag Kildare pointed out casually.
Was this kid for real? He ACTUALLY believed that? Penelope studied him for a moment, not quite sure what to make of him. COULD there actually be leprechauns at Hogwarts? Was that a thing? She didn't actually know. But she supposed she could go along with it. Seemed harmless enough. "Okay, sure."
The boy grinned. "Glad you understand. So!" He pulled a few fizzing whizbees bags out of his rucksack. "Wanna have some with me?"
So he seemed to really like food too. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all.

She had set her book down on her bed while she went to grab a few snacks from the kitchen. No fun reading on an empty stomach after all, yeah?
When Penelope returned though, there was a grey-and-white cat laying on it.
"Oi, Taco, move, I'm reading that," she said, poking the cat to get up.
The cat opened her eyes just a little, giving her a look that very clearly said, Nope.
"C'mon, move."
Nope.
They stared at each other for a couple more seconds...
...And then Taco's eyes closed again, returning to her nap.
Ugh. Stubborn little creature.
