Quodpot Field - Grounds The Quodpot stadium is located just down the sheer cliff face from the castle. A stadium built around can seat every student and alumni that attends the matches and keep them safe from any exploding quods. The pitch itself has artificial turf so it stays green all year round. The starting circle is clearly marked on the left side of the pitch and the scoring cauldron is on the right. Locker rooms are located on the far side of the pitch for house teams to change and store their unexploded quods. Students can enjoy the pitch even if they aren't playing the popular game. When not in use by the house teams any student is welcomed to practice flying, do broom races, or even pull the portable Quidditch hoops out of the shed to play Quidditch.
How Quodpot is played:
Teams are made of eleven players and all players start in the air. The referee for the day will toss the quod into the air and teams work together to catch the quod and get it down the field and into the cauldron filled with a potion before it explodes, the potion will make the quod stay intact. Once the quod is in the cauldron the scoring team earns a point. If the quod explodes before entering the cauldron the person it explodes on has to leave the game. | |

She was mid lunges when she could hear the footfalls behind her, causing the Thunderbird to drop her hood in order to glance around to see who was approaching. On spotting her fellow seventh year, she grinned at Oliver and gave a wave of her hand as she switched legs. "Hey, Ollie-ollie-oxen-free." She grinned teasingly at him before righting herself and reaching for the sky before shaking out her limbs. She probably often spent too much time on her stretches but... Better to be safe than sorry. Was not looking to have any cramping here.
"Looking for a running buddy?" She usually stuck to the field, but she was not opposed to a new route if he had one he preferred.
Unless he'd also rather do some quodpot drills because the hopeful professional was always on board.

Right away he noticed the grin and sent a wave back her away. He swiftly made his way to where Tinsley was and paused near where she was stretching. He hadn't been jogging for very long as he had managed to make around the potions hut and the barn so far, but a moment to catch his breath was welcome.
"I certainly wouldn't say no to a running buddy," Oliver responded, a smile appearing on his face as he ran a hand through his curls. "It would be nice to have a bit of company." It wasn't too often that he had someone to train alongside, mainly because he had a particular regimen that he stuck to. Today, however, was a more low-key day, just some core exercises and jogging.
"Sticking to the field today?" He personally liked wandering the grounds and seeing where his feet took him, but the field would be a nice change.

"Excellent! I was just getting ready to start. You been out here long already?" She leaned into another deep lunge on her left side, before switching once more to her right and deciding this was all sufficient and she was loose enough to not cramp anywhere during exercising. "We might as well take the company while we can, right? Can you believe we're graduating this year?" Because she could not. She knew she wanted to try for professional Quodpot or Quidditch but... that was competitive. "Figured out what's next for you already?"
She glanced around at the field and gave a nod, before turning her smile towards him again. "I was planning on it but I'm not opposed to adapting that. It's been awhile since I've done more exploration in my runs."

"I've been out a bit," Oliver told Tinsley with a nonchalant shrug. "Only made my way around the potions hut and the barn so far, so still got quite a bit of running to do." He tried to get a few miles each day on top of the other components of his workout routine. The Wampus would have asked her how far along she was, but the fact that she was still stretching was enough for him to make a safe assumption.
A head nod was given in response to the question about the company. Soon enough, they all would be going their separate ways: going to university or starting their careers, possibly starting families of their own at some point, and figuring out adulthood. "It definitely snuck up on us! It's quite exciting, but daunting at the same time." Despite the contradiction, Oliver felt he was ready for the next chapter of his life. "I think I'm going to pursue being an Auror for MACUSA. How about you? Quodpot or Quidditch? Or is there another path you have on your mind?"
Speaking of paths, he liked that Tins was open to areas beyond the field. "Perhaps we can start here at the field and transition elsewhere around the grounds? There are some muddy patches, but it's definitely nothing we can't handle."

Tins' eyebrow rose slightly, impressed by the amount of grounds he had already covered. "What's usually your goal?" She usually didn't focus on numbers, which made the field easier, and instead just tended to go for it until she got too tired to move one leg in front of the other anymore. Healthy? Maybe not, but it certainly had cured her prior insomnia issues.
The idea of her school mates starting their own families was so wild to her - how were they already at the ages that that could be a possibility? Truthfully, most of the time she still felt like she was around 13/14 - especially given how much of her time she still liked to waste in the arcade room. "Life has to start eventually, we're probably all readier now than we would be later!" They'd learned a lot at school so... they'd all be fine, right? "An Auror, huh? Being fit will certainly help with that! I hear the process is like.. crazy hard, but I'm sure you'll manage it!" And she said that with sincerity. As for her own goals? She grinned and nodded at his initial guesses. "I'm thinking of trying out for teams for both. Quodpot is probably my one true love but... while I'm fast, I don't know that I'm as talented as I'd like to be with the quod. I've been practicing with a snitch too and considering trying out for some seeker positions too." Which might be a better fit for her less than ideal aim and accuracy, despite how much the idea broke her heart.
"Sounds like an excellent plan of attack to me! Mud patches just improve your agility." She grinned again, before moving her legs and taking off at a slow jog to start.

Her raised eyebrow did not go unnoticed by him, which he was going to let sit in his mind rather than ask. The question that followed was enough to make him assume that she was curious about his workout routine. "Depends, really. Sometimes I focus on seeing if I can get a little further than the previous day, and other times I'm set on getting to a specific distance within a certain amount of time. Today is a see how far I can go day, without the worry of a time limit."
Truthfully, he felt stuck between childhood and adulthood, but Oliver supposed that was common for many seventh years. They were still students, under careful watch and being told to do this and that, but the whole world beyond was soon going to be navigated by them. "True. But you know what they say, school doesn't teach us everything," he responded with a shrug of his shoulders. "Not that it is anything we can't handle." Thunderbirds and Wampuses like them could easily persevere.
"Yeah, the training is a bit intense, so I'm getting a head start on it now," he continued, jogging beside Tinsley at her starting pace. "That sounds like a solid plan. Who knows - you could end up with offers for both sports."

That seemed a healthier way to go about his workouts, and with hopping back and forth between 2 different goals - at least it kept things interesting too. Well, she was certainly interested anyways, the nosy person that she was. "What's the farthest you think you've done in one of your trainings?" Which now that they were talking about it, she realized the disadvantage to the field was she didn't actually have any idea currently what her limit was - she didn't really keep track.
Maybe she should start keeping a log.
She could easily sympathize with his thoughts on that. Not only did they feel like the inbetween, but truthfully the world probably looked at them like they were too. They were old enough to be considered legal adults and yet.. not old enough to not still be in school with all the younger years. It was a weird transitional year. "There's so much in the world they definitely couldn't cram it all into seven years but... we have a good basis." And they WERE smart and able to think on their feet. So she also was feeling pretty confident they'd be okay.
"That's a good idea. It's better to be prepared than behind, right?" Not that she thought he'd been anywhere close to the last of the pack. "Both offers would be nice, but I'd choose to stay here if I did. I know my mom wouldn't move with me and I'd hate to leave her." She also didn't relish being closer to her biological father but transferring to the UK to participate in Quidditch league would mean exactly that. At least he was busy with his winged horse jockies and had zero interest in the sports she'd taken liking to. "Are you going to live with your parents for a bit while you start training or are you headed straight out into a place on your own?"

He had to think about her question for a moment before responding. Oliver didn't really keep a log, even though he probably should have. But on days he was distance running, he stuck to the same trail - since they all were different lengths and had varying levels of difficulty - and tried to make it past the last landmark he could remember getting to if his body allowed it. "I'd say roughly seven miles or so. Alternating between running, jogging, and walking, of course."
As for school, yes, they did have a good foundation for their learning. All of the professors made sure that the lot of them weren't just being thrown into the real world to be instantly eaten by a Hidebehind or pummeled by a Sasquatch. "Indeed. And, honestly, we're definitely better off navigating the world on our own now. So it's time to leave the nest, so to speak." That was easier said than done, of course.
The unknown future was a bit daunting, though the Wampus supposed they had no choice but to take it one day at a time. He nodded when she stated that it was better to be prepared than behind and spoke of wanting to stay in the States. He could relate to not wanting to leave a mother behind. "With my brother in London, it's just been me and mom. So I'll be staying with her for a while. She'd like me to stay, honestly."
