Special appearence by someone, try to spot it!
Harry made up a list of eligible girls with Dean Thomas's help. Dean knew all about it, because he had asked these girls himself. The two of them ran off right after lunch.
"Dean, is this her?" Harry whispered, as he watched a pretty Ravenclaw went by.
"Yea, go ahead." Harry started towards her, then Dean got another look at her. He groaned. "Oh no, Harry!"
But it was too late. Harry started talking to the girl.
"Hi, I'm Har-"
"Harry Potter." The girl finished for him.
"Yea, I guess I am." Harry said, and the girl laughed. Harry smiled. He was funny!
"Well Harry Potter, what can I do for you?" The girl inquired.
"Well, when is the next Hogsmeade trip?"
"In about...three days."
"Good, then you can come with me." Harry offered. Suddenly, he felt someone behind him. He turned around and saw....CJ Antoninias, Ravenclaw Chaser. "Oh, hey CJ."
"Hey Potter. What are you doing with Sylvannas?"
"Oh, we were just deciding what we were going to do at Hogsmeade together. What's up with you-"
CJ's fist made contact with Harry's head. Harry was sent careening across the hallway. Sylvannas yelped.
"CJ! What was that for? Harry was-"
"C'mon Sylvannas, let's get out of here. He should learn respect for other people's girlfriends." CJ put an arm around Sylvannas and led her away. Dean came rushing up to Harry, and pulled him to his feet.
"Sorry dude, I tried to tell you. Look! There's another one! Go get her!"
Harry was still a little dazed, but he followed Dean's finger to another stunningly pretty Ravenclaw.
"Hey babe, wanna hang out sometime?" Harry said, still reeling. The girl blushed.
"Um...are you drunk?"
"No ma'am. I wanna date you."
"Well, I um...have a boyfriend already...it's-"
"-Joe Granger." A boy came up behind the girl. "Is he giving you trouble Pye?"
"No Joe, it's fine. I'll talk to you later Harry."
Joe led Pye away, and Dean came over shaking his head.
"Harry, you have to stop picking all the girls that are taken!"
"Dean, you told me to ask her!"
"Now now, let's not get too hasty-"
"NO! That's the last time I-"
"Um....I'm sorry, but is there a problem?" A pretty girl came over to them. Harry blinked.
"Uh...no. No problem here. Who are you anyway?"
"My name's Katie. I'm a fourth year Ravenclaw. I just saw you pick a fight with CJ. Man, you are brave!" She thought a minute. "Or stupid, whichever floats ur boat."
"I'm not stupid! I just...didn't know. And I need a date. See, my girl-...my exgirlfriend...well, it's really hard to get over her, and I need someone to spend with me with me on Hogsmeade weekend."
"Well, I"m not doing anything. Why don't I go with you?"
Dean slapped Harry on the back. "It's a deal! He'll be there!" Katie walked away, smiling. Harry turned his head at Dean.
"What just happened?"
"You just got a date for Saturday Harry! Man, you are smooth with the ladies!"

It was three days until Hogsmeade. And Hermione still couldn't decide if she wanted to go or not. She couldn't imagine not going twith Ron and Harry....especially Harry. But she would feel like the only girl without someone to go with. She wandered into the hallway outside the Great Hall, when she bumped into someone.
"Hey!"
"Oh, I'm sorry- Oh, it's you."
"Why, yes...it is me!" Draco said, and put his arm around Hermione. She shook it off.
"Geez! Do you want people to see?!?!" Hermione hissed, and pulled Draco out of sight.
"Yes." Draco smirked, and Hermione relaxed, once they were out of view.
"So...what do you want?"
"Me? you pulled me away, not the other way around!"
"Oh fine! Well, nothing really, I just don't...."
"Want anything happening yet? When are we going to make this official?" Hermione blushed at his question. "You still love him...don't you."
"It's not that, it's just...oh fine, it is that. I gguess I'm still hoping-"
"Wait Hermione. Look." Draco leaned his head sideways. "Harry's trying to pick up women! And with help from Dean!"
Hermione watched in horror as Harry tried to ask out Sylvannas Quickspeed and Pyralis *Edna, both Ravenclaws with boyfriends. She flushed with anger.
"Not being entirely missed, are you dear?" Draco asked. Hermione almost slapped him.
"Who do you think you are?"
"Shush! He'll hear!" Draco hid further behind the statue, dragging Hermione with him. "Now we can listen better! Please be quiet!"
Hermione was so shocked about hearing 'please' from a Malfoy that she shut up right away.
"....is there a problem?"
"...No, but my exgirlfriend isn't going with me to Hogsmeade, and I need a date...."
"...I'm your girl....."
Hermione's anger rose as the conversation went on. Draco sensed this, and took her hand. She squeezed it, mostly from venting. As the three of them left, Hermione began to cry.
"Hermione, don't..." Draco hugged her. She tried to resist, but she gave in, and cried into his chest. After a few moments, she pulled away.
"Thanks Draco."
"You're welcome. Hey, are you going to Hogsmeade?"
"I...haven't decided yet."
"Well then..." Draco got down on one knee. "Hermione Granger, will you please go to Hogsmeade with me?"
Hermione giggled, then hauled him up.
"Yes." She whispered into his ear, and walked with him, arm in arm, ignoring the stares and startled glances of those around them.

Hogsmeade came quickly for all the students. Most were happy t o hang loose, and relax in Hogsmeade. Hermione was waiting for Draco outside in the courtyard. She was wearing a blue shirt, jeans, and had a bandana tied around her hair. Draco was wearing a black muscle shirt and blue jeans.
"C'mon my dear, Hogsmeade awaits!" Draco said with flourish, and Hermione took his arm.
"Alright, you big doofis. As long as you still don't mind being seen with me."
"Of course I would. That's why we're going together."
The two of them walked through Hogsmeade together. Hermione was nervous about being criticized, but Draco strutted around, showing off Hermione. They went into The Three Broomsticks to have a drink.
"Well, what shall the lady have?" Draco asked, and found them a seat by the window. Hermione laughed nervously.
"Draco, stop. I'll just have a butterbeer."
"Well then, so shall I. Madam Rosmerta!" Draco snapped his fingers, and Madam Rosmerta appeared, looking disgruntled.
"Yeeeessss....Mr. Malfoy?"
"Two butterbeers please." Draco held up two fingers. Madam Rosmerta walked away, mumbling to herself. Draco turned away from Rosmerta and faced Hermione.
"So? How is every little thing?"
Hermione opened her mouth to speak, when she paled, and looked as if she was about to faint. Draco looked over his shoulder.
Harry and Katie were having a long snog. Katie was in Harry's lap, and Harry's arms were around her. Hermione was pale, then turned red. She went around to Draco's side of the booth, and crawled into his lap seductively, where Harry and Katie could see it. They stopped long enough to watch.
"Hermione, what the..."
Hermione kissed Draco long and hard. Katie took Harry and kissed him again. Hermione broke off the kiss long enough to see Katie's challenge. She reacted upon it immediately. She took Draco's hands, and they roamed her body as it turned into a full-out snog. Katie gasped, and did the same with Harry.
People were starting to stare. Just then, Ron and Kit walked into the bar. Ron gaped at the four of them.
"Oh, would you please GET A ROOM??"
Harry, Katie, Hermione, and Draco looked up at Ron. Disgusted, he led Kit out of the bar. Hermione looked down embarrassed. Harry looked ashamed. Katie was looking pleased with herself. Draco, sensing Hermione's distress, laid four sickles on the table, and took Hermione out of the bar.
Out in the street, they had no trouble catching up to Ron and Kit. Ron took Kit's hand, and faced the two of them.
"Oh, are you guys finished?" Ron asked coldly, and Kit gave him a Look. He stood his ground.
"Yes we are. And I'm sorry." Draco said, stepping in for Hermione, who was in no condition to talk.
"For what? You only embarrased yourselves in there, not Kit and me." Ron spat, and kept walking. Draco dragged Hermione behind him, and stopped Ron.
"True, but I don't want you two to stop talking to Hermione just because we had a little fun back there. It's not her fault. Katie started it."
"Oh Ron, stop it!." Kit said, and looked at Hermione. "Hermione, Ron's sorry he acted like a jerk. Now, the formalities are over. Can we go do somehting fun now?"
Hermione gave a grateful smile to Kit. "Yea, let's go."
The four of them spent the rest of the day looking at shops, buying things, and Draco had an incident by the Shrieking Shack. All in all, if you minus what happened in the Three Broomsticks, all had a good day. Except Madam Rosmerta.
After Draco and Hermione left the money on the table, Rosmerta came and picked it up. She sighed.
"They're FOUR SICKLES PER BOTTLE!!!" Madam Rosmerta yelled in anguish, and she took her four sickles into the back of the bar, muttering,
"....kids...."

Harry was alittle embarassed by what had happened in The Three Broomsticks. He walked out soon after Hermione and Draco did with Katie. They walked nonchalantly through Hogsmeade.
"Harry?"
"Yea Katie?"
"Are you dating me just to get back at Hermione?" Harry stopped walking and put his head down. Katie folded her arms and waited. He sighed.
"Almost."
"Almost? What does that mean? Either you like me or you don't."
"No no no. I do like you Katie. Hermione hurt me awhile back, and....I-"
"-you need to get over her." Katie put an arm around Harry, and led him to a bench, where they sat together. Harry nodded.
"I'm sorry if it looked any different."
"Don't be. I was being oversensitive. I have nothing to worry about. I mean, I'm dating The Harry Potter. But I don't like you for your fame Harry."
Harry looked up at her.
"I like you for who you are. And I think that's enough, don't you?"
"Yes. I think that's plenty. And I want to learn all about you Katie. I want to learn to love you."
"I want to love you too Harry. C'mon, let's get out of here."
Harry and Katie spent the rest of their afternoon in a fashion similar to Ron, Kit, Hermione, and Draco's. Harry bought Katie loads of things, and Katie took Harry to a hidden shop, run by her aunt and uncle. There, it sold muggle clothes to wear on weekends, trips to Hogsmeade, and lounging around the castle. Katie paid for those.
It was dusk when Harry and Katie started on their way back to the castle. Without knowing it, the two were soon holding hands, despite their multiple parcels.
"Harry?"
"Hmm?"
"This was great. I mean, spending time with you and everything. We should do it more often."
"Great idea, but..."
"Listen Harry." Katie faced Harry. "You can't let your past run your life. Soon, you and Hermione are going to be friends again. I can feel it. But you can't let your spat rule your life. What made you two break up anyway?"
"I don't want to talk about that right now Katie." Harry pushed past her, and waited for her to catch up. "Please Katie, we had such a nice time, let's end the evening with a nice time as well?"
"Oh fine." Katie smiled, and they walked back to the castle in silence, but a friendly silence, and that was exactly what Harry needed.

Harry walked Katie back to her House Room. They stopped outside the trapdoor.
"I'm sorry you can't come in. Ravenclaws are very secretive."
"That's ok. Listen, you're right. I have to let this go. Can we spend some time together tomorrow?"
"Sure Harry. Goodnight." And she kissed him on the cheek. She left doent eh trapdoor, leaving Harry speechless and brain tumbled.

Katie climbed down the silvery staircase into the Ravenclaw Common Room. There she met Sylvannas and Pyralis.
"So? How was your big date?" Sylvannas asked, while doing Pyralis's hair.
"Well, it went ok. Had a run-in woth his ex-girlfriend, but other than that, it went...pretty swell."
"Well that's good. At least you found somebody. About time too." Pyralis said, and went back to the matter of her hair. "Ouch Sylve, you're pulling it out!"
"Am not! You're pulling!"
"Am not!"
"Are too!"
"Am not!"
"Are too!"
Katie rolled her eyes as the two best friends argued. Sighing she went up to bed, thinking of Harry.
And as she thought of Harry, someone else was thinking of Harry too...Hermione Granger.

Harry had been avoiding Hermione, but with Katie beside him, he strutted around with her on his arm proudly. Katie, in turn, would constantly brag about Harry. Word got to Hermione and Draco, and Draco got mad.
"He's just with her to get back at you!" Draco said to Hermione one day after class.
"Draco, what if Harry has moved on? What if he doesn't like me like that anymore?" Hermione asked anxiously as Draco paced.
"I don't know Hermione....do you still talk to him?"
"Hardly ever. And when we do, Ron's there."
"It's a start. But really Hermione, how can you think that about Potter....Harry?"
"Because," Hermione bowed her head. "I know him. He wouldn't do something like...well....like you said. Why don't we just talk? Like, just get together, all six of us, and just hang out?"
Draco thought for a moment. Hermione looked up at him hopefully.
"If you can get Ron and Kit, then I'll go."
"Oh thank you so much Draco!" She kissed him, and ran off to find Ron.

"All of us? Hang out? Oh, that would be wonderful!"
Hermione hadn't found Ron, but she found Kit. And Kit was estatic. And she was getting Hermione excited as well.
"Yea, Draco agreed, and we haven't really been able to meet Katie, and I so want to!"
"Oh, I haven't met her either! But it should be awesome! I can't wait till Ron and Harry come back!"
"Where are they Kit?"
"Oh, out playing Quiddich or something. I don't know where Katie is."
Hermione sighed.
"Oh well, we'll meet her soon enough."

They had planned it for next weekend. Draco and Ron agreed, and Ron got Harry's ok. They had decided to meet by the Lake. Hermione and Draco got there first. They sat down by the shore, and Draco put his arm around her.
"I'm so excited Draco." Hermione could hardly keep still.
"I can. I still say-"
"Oh Draco, don't be so mean. Look, there are Kit and Ron."
Ron and Kit sat down next to them. Hermione and Kit immediately started talking about what Katie might look like, and Ron and Draco were questioning whether or not she was good enough for Harry. Suddenly, the girls stopped talking, and Draco and Ron looked up.
It was Harry and Katie. Harry was holding her hand rather nervously, but Katie was standing tall and proud.
Her hair was a golden brown, and she had piercing hazel eyes. Her figure was slim, and she was wearing a black scoop neck shirt and bell bottom jeans. She smiled at the group.
"Hi, I"m Katie." She said, and broke the ice right away. Harry relaxed, and led her over to them.
"Hello, I'm Hermione!" Hermione said excitedly, and shook her hand. "This is my boyfriend, and fiance, Draco Malfoy."
Draco stood up and kissed Katie's hand. Katie giggled. Harry smiled again, and sat down next to Ron. Hermione took Katie and led her over to Kit. The three of them started talking at once.
Unfortunately, there was tension at the boy's end. Harry was sitting as far from Draco as possible, and Draco was eyeing Harry with suspicion. Ron thumped both of them on the head.
"Ouch!"
"What was that for Ron?"
"I just wanted you two to look at the girls." Harry and Draco looked over at them. "They're not being stupid. Hermione and Kit immediately took Katie in. Can't you two at least be nice to each other?"
Harry and Draco glared at each other. Then much to Harry's suprise, Draco offered his hand. Harry stared at it. Then...slowly took it. There was a brief handshake, then the two let go very quickly. Ron sighed.
"It's a start."
