| A Day in Life - Sa5+ Well, my story is: -a one-shot story, -told from Luna Lovegood's perspective, -a story which includes a bit of romance. i hope you like it! p.s. I'm not a native speaker, so i'm sorry if i made grammatical mistakes. or spelling, etc.. A DAY IN LIFE Hi. I’m Luna. Luna Lovegood. Maybe you don’t know me. Maybe you don’t like me because of the way I look. Or because of the way I walk. Or talk. Probably you’ve heard of me, but not as “Luna”, as “Loony”. Yes, true, they call me “Loony”. And I don’t like it. I hate it all: the way they treat me, the way they talk to me, even more, the way they look at me. I don’t understand why. Why can’t they just accept me the way I am? Yes, I’m in Ravenclaw. Yes, really, I’m in Ravenclaw. Why don’t you believe me? Oh, I see, you are like the rest of them, determined to think that I cannot be as witty as the stupidest Ravenclaw in the school. How very wrong you are. “Hi, Luna,” This is Harry. One of the few friends I have here. I think he likes me. Sort of. “Hi, Harry!” I really like him. But he is going out with Ginny. The sister of that Weasley who always calls me “Loony”. I like Ginny. But I don’t like her brother. He is funny, but sometimes too rude. “Hey, would you like to come to Hogsmeade with Neville and me? Ron and Hermione are… You know… They want to be alone…” “Of course, Harry, I’d love to!” I really like him. I wonder where Ginny is. I wonder how she can ever deny a date with Harry. Oh, if only I was like her. “Let’s go and get Neville, then. He’s so excited about the whole thing. He says he wants to talk to you about something.” I wonder what Neville’s got in mind. He’s one of my few friends like Harry, and I’m one of his few friends, too. I think he likes the Granger girl. No, Hermione. Hermione has never called me “Loony”. I love the castle of Hogwarts, especially at winter. It snows so much here that not an inch of the soil can be seen. We walk towards Filch who always checks the signed notes which states that the student is allowed to go to Hogsmeade village. Neville is waiting for us there. I wonder what he’s up to. “Hi, Harry,” he says, then a bit shyly, “Luna,” “Hi, Neville,” I say. The Patil twins are laughing. I bet they’re laughing at me. But I don’t care, as long as I have my two mates on my side. We start walking towards the village. “Shall we grab a cup of Butterbeer from the Three Broomsticks?” asks Harry. I like Butterbeer, so I say yes. The Three Broomsticks is so full that Madam Rosmerta has to conjure a table and three chairs for us. As Harry goes to the bar to order the drinks, I see Neville blushing. “So, how do you do, Neville?” I say. “I’m doing, fine, thanks,” he murmurs. Fortunately, Harry comes after a few seconds, so Neville turns back to a normal color. “Hey, guys, have you heard about the new Head of the Magical Games and Sports Department?” “Ludus Virgatergum? Oh, he’s a Winged-Equus Hunter,” I say. “A what hunter?” Harry says with his eyebrows high. “A Winged-Equus hunter. Winged-Equus is a name given to the horse-like creatures with pearl white skin and furry-black wings. They feed on Winglebees. Plus, if you get bitten by one of them, you laugh for the rest of your life. I thought anyone knew that. Virgatergum is the head of a group who hunt Winged-Equus. My dad and I are planning to make a research about them this summer. He’s already sent a letter to the Minister about Virgatergum. I bet there will be a hearing about him soon.” “Oh,” Harry says. Neville doesn’t look at me. I wonder what he’s up to. “Um, Luna, I guess Neville has something to ask you,” Harry says, grinning. But why is he grinning? “Really?” I say. “And what is that?” Neville turns bright purple. I raise my eyebrows. What can be so embarrassing? “I— I know you wouldn’t want to— oh, never mind…” he mutters. “Oh, come on Neville, just ask her!” “Wudchawanttergooutwimme?” he says, his voice barely audible. “I couldn’t really understand that,” I say with a singsong voice. I’m starting to get bored. Oh, the lamp, I never realized how beautiful the pearls on it are before… And I think the woman sitting beside us is a lamia. They are witches who can conjure dragons with a flick of their wands. “Would you want to go out with me?” says Neville, now turning deep scarlet. Did he actually say that? I can’t believe he said that. To me? To “Loony” Lovegood? He’s actually a cool boy. I don’t know how he got sorted into Gryffindor, though. He doesn’t seem brave enough. But people tell me I’m not suitable for Ravenclaw. However, I think I am. Maybe he’s just like me. “I don’t know, Neville,” I say. What is the point of dating him? I don’t love him. But is there something wrong with him? No, definitely not. He’s a bit weird, maybe. Like me, here’s another common point. And he’s cute. “Yeah, I would.” He lets out a breath. He smiles, faintly. “Really?” “Really.” I never thought this kind of a thing would happen to me in my life. I never thought someone could love me. Maybe it’s time to forget Harry. Yeah, definitely, it’s time to forget about him. “Well, I told Ginny I’d meet her,” says Harry. I don’t know why, but I don’t feel anything inside me as he says this. Can anyone forget about someone she loved so dearly in an instant? Maybe they can. Or maybe I’m a bit weird. Possibly the second answer. But I don’t care. “Shall we go back to the school, then?” I ask Neville. “It’s getting late.” He nods. He’s sweet when he nods. I never noticed. We get out of the bar and start to walk towards the school. As we walk through the gates, I feel a sudden urge of holding his hand. I hesitate, first. Then I realize that I had never hesitated before. Maybe people can change in a second. Or maybe I’m weird. But I don’t care. I hold his hand and we continue to walk.
