*Plot*
Vanessa had left Hogwarts to go into hiding and protect her mother. She was unknowingly being watched by the Order of the Phoenix while being hunted down by the Death Eaters.

Lying to the whole town about her past proves to be harder than she ever thought it would be especially since she meets the all-too-familiar face that broke her heart when she thought he had died just two months previous.

She discovers that outside of England she can use her powers freely, but with caution. When she meets new people hunting an old friend her world gets even more twisted when she tries to protect more people and secrets than she can balance on her plate that is already filled with heartbreak and the rest of her emotions.






Prologue: (Cormac's POV)
“In life there is always a new beginning."

It was dark out still as she stood there securing her trunks to her broom with the blankest expression on her face I had ever seen except for the sorrow in her eyes. The same eyes that once danced with joy when Cedric Diggory asked her to be his girlfriend a year and a half ago and when he told her he loved her at the Yule Ball. Now, the only reason I wouldn't mistake her for the living dead is the pain and sorrow that hadn't left her eyes for two months, since the final task of the Triwizard Tournament - the day her boyfriend died - then only a month later when her dad - our dad - was attacked by Fenrir Greyback and became a werewolf, and two weeks later when I joined the Dark Lord. I did it to protect her, I had to, but I couldn't tell her so now she never wants to see me again, never talk to me, or hear from me.
It's been two weeks; two weeks without my twin - Vanessa Payson McLaggen - the prettiest, kindest, sweetest, most sarcastic, most envied, and second smartest girl in the whole school. Now, everything has changed. Now, she's leaving - running away. Where? I don't know, but I hope it's somewheres safe.


Chapter One: (Vanessa's POV)
"Our fingerprints never fade from the lives we've touched."

I let the tears escape as I flew towards my new home - Forks, Washington. My mom was a nurse at the hospital there, Rebecca Matthews, I needed to see her again and I needed to get away. Away from this mess of a life and have a fresh start. Forget the things that haunt my nightmares -
Cedric's lifeless body in that coffin being soaked with rain as if the skies felt my pain or even dad's scream as he was attacked on that night lit by a full moon - Even those memories that haunt my dreams -
"He called you pretty. That's practically an insult, the way you look right now. You're so much more than beautiful. I mean, I feel like there's a line behind me, jockeying for position, waiting for me to make a big enough mistake...you're too desirable for your own good." Cedric said to me as we were being lined up to enter into the Great Hall by Professor McGonagall.
"Thank you Cedric, but trust me you have nothing and no one to worry about except making it out of the Third Task alive." I said blushing as a group of guys that didn't get a date started gawking at me as we passed.
"For this one night, could we try to forget everything besides just you and me? I need to be with you. Just you." Cedric asked walking into the Great Hall with me on his arm.


*******Memory from later that night at the Yule Ball***********

"Have I ever told you that you’re amazing and incredible? Or that you're all I need? All I want?" Cedric asked me as we sat on a bench in the courtyard looking up at the stars.
"No, I don't believe you have, nor do you have to." I replied blushing.
Taking my hand in his he looked down at me and continued, "...and if I haven't told you that I love you, then I do. Vanessa Payson McLaggen, I'm in love with you and I don't know how it happened, nor do I care because I am so so happy that it has."
"Cedric Robert Diggory, I love you and only you from the moment you talked to me on my first day of school, and when you held my hand when I got scared during second year because my best friend had been taken into the Chamber of Secrets. I've loved you since you held me in your arms while I cried because Professor Lupin was leaving Hogwarts, and I've loved you since our first kiss in the garden. I love every bit of you, because all those pieces - they're what make you, you."



*********Next is the memory right before the Third Task***********

"I still can't believe you're doing this, Ced. You could die, and I just - I can't lose you. I love you." I cried as he hugged me and held me in his arms.
"I know what could happen, V. I know the odds, 1 of 4, but I've come this far, and I can't back out. So look at me, look at me - I will never leave you, I love you, and I will miss you every second I'm in that maze so I'll come back as soon as I can, but for now I have to go. I promise I'll be back, but while I'm gone look after my heart - I've left it with you." He said pulling out a heart-shaped locket with a picture of the two of us inside of it and putting it around my neck, then kissing me before he left to join the other Champions.



****************Back to reality****************

That's in the past now. I thought as I started seeing the shore, the sand.
"This must be it - La Push Beach. A chance at a new beginning, a new future, and a new life."

Chapter Two: Emily's POV

I stood there waiting for the girl to stop hugging her mother and recognize that my father and I were here too.
She was very pretty - blonde, wavy hair, sunkissed skin, and big brown eyes - eyes that looked like she had been crying. Well, I can't blame her, leaving everything she knows back in England because her father sent her to stay with her mom until some sort of war is over.
I watched as the girl took out some sort of stick from her boot while her mother grabbed her forearm, shook her head, and pointed toward us. We smiled and my dad waved as the girl was led over by her mom - our mom - Rebecca Clearwater.
"Now, Vanessa I'd like you to meet some people. This," she gestured to my dad, "is Gavin Clearwater and his daughter, Emily."
"It's nice to meet you both, but mum, I don''t wish to be rude or disrespectful, but wouldn't it have been better for just you to come - you know - only family on the first day kinda thing." Vanessa inquired of her Rebecca.
"Actually, Nessa, they are your family now. Gavin and I got married last fall. It was kind of a spir of the moment thing, you know?"
"No, I-I dont know mom. Especially since I've never had the chance for 'spir of the moment' things with how I grew up, where I grew up, now did I?" Vanessa retorted.
"Look honey, I'm sorry okay? But please keep an open mind on this, okay?"
"Okay, fine, I'm sorry. I'm just really stressed with dad and Cormac fighting in the war, and Cedric's death, and I just want to forget it all and start over. Have a new life, here."
"Honey, I'm so sorry, of course you'll have a new life here, no more drama for you Nessie. No more drama." She hugged her daughter and then bent down to pick up the cat whie dad grabbed one suitcase and I the other as Vanessa ran to pick up a bird cage and some sort of fancy broom.
"Why'd you bring a broom?" I asked her, but her mom answered instead.
"Why not? I mean she loves this broom, don't you Vanessa?"
"Uh, yeah, I bring it everywheres I go." She replied staring at her mother questionably, while they argued in whispers in the backseat. I only caught parts of it like,
"Why haven't you told her, but you've told him!"
"We're waiting for the right time."
"Which is when?"
"I don't know, we're still working on that."
"Well, I don't know how long I'll be able to keep a secret like this from my new step-sister."
"Vanessa-"But I didn't hear the rest seen as my dad turned on the radio, realizing that I was listening.
"It's rude to eavesdrop Emily." He told me like I was a little kid.
"I know dad, but something about Vanessa is just so-so-so....peculiar, different....curious."
"I know honey," he sighed. "I know."


Sorry my chapters are short, but this is all I have for now, and I know it's not the greatest, but I'm hoping the next one will be better.
