~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Indiana stared out the window of Number 12 Grimmauld Place. It was an ordinarily grey day in London, even though it was summer.
Not that it means anything, Indie thought glumly.
There was cluttering behind her, and she turned absent-mindedly to find what it was coming from.
"What are you doing?" Indie murmured, her jaw held closed by her palm under chin as she spoke.
Her brother, Anton, was banging about with his trunk, moving things around within it and also in his cupboard.
"What does it look like?" he said bluntly, "I'm packing my trunk. There's nothing else to do around here..."
Indie rolled her eyes and turned back to her window, which had now fogged up nicely. The sun was slowly setting over the city, meaning it was getting late. Indie knew exactly what that meant.
The clock struck half-five from downstairs, and the blonde, fifteen-year-old found another cause to sigh.
Tonight, like every other night, there was a meeting.
Not just any meeting, but the regular meeting of the Order of the Phoenix. The headmaster at Indie's school, Professor Dumbledore had founded it back when the Dark Lord was at large the first time. So now, since Harry Potter, a Gryffindor boy in her year, had seen You-Know-Who return before the summer, the Order had been called to...well, order...to prepare.
Although, Harry Potter hadn't arrived here at Grimmauld Place yet, now that Indie had actually thought about it. Ron and Hermione, his two friends, and Indie's too, were here, but he was yet to arrive.
Perhaps that was where Tonks and Moody had been headed off to...
Anyway, Indie had to get ready. She stood up from her chair, now realising that she hadn't moved in over three hours, to walk over to her bed. Plonking on the comfortably soft mattress, she took in a deep breath and closed her eyes.
Indie opened her mind, and let it wander about the room. She found her way into Anton's unprotected mind, and had to smirk at his frustrated thoughts. A quiet giggle followed her smirk, at which Anton turned angrily.
"Get out of my head, Indie!" he exclaimed, throwing his socks at the wardrobe on the opposite wall. He muttered incoherent swear words under his breath as he threw more items of clothing at his wardrobe and trunk.
Indie smiled gleefully.
"Gladly mate, I've got more interesting minds to butt into," she said.
Her mind left Anton's, and traveled through the hallways of Headquarters, finding people she could annoy.
Ooh, she found Ron, what will he say?
'Hey Ron, what's happening?' she said through her mental connection. She felt Weasley jump, and sniggered in her head, before leaving him behind.
She found Hermione in the next room, having a conversation with Ginny Weasley, Ron's sister. She didn't bother with them, as their conversation was probably not Indie's cup of tea.
Then, her other siblings were in the lounge room, with the exception of her eldest brother, who was with the other Aurors collecting Harry.
While she listened in on their conversation, she pondered. Of all her siblings, except for Scott, who was an Auror, she was the only one in the Order. Scott was 20, and had just finished his second year of training with the Ministry of Magic. Melanie and Paul were the twins in the middle, who were both 17. They were of age, but Indie's mother didn't allow them into meetings. And finally, there was herself, Anton and Bella. The three of them were all 15, and of course were not allowed in meetings either. Except Indie...
Her siblings were a little resentful, but they understood. Indie sometimes hated the meetings though. Sure, it was great knowing everything, but the toll that the information took on her was hard to tolerate.
Her mind wandered from downstairs and back up to her bedroom. She took in another breath, and slowly let her eyes flutter open.
Continuing on her train of thought, she sighed.
Yes, the toll was horrible, but it was for everyone's own good.
See, Indie was born a natural Legillimens and Occlumens, which meant that she could break through the barriers of people's minds. She could search their thoughts and find out their actions. That was her job within the Order. To break through the barriers of Death Eaters and their accomplices. And, of course, the one and only Lord Voldemort.
She shivered at the thought of the Dark Lord. He had proven to be her hardest challenge yet. He wasn't always on guard, which was good, but still, his barriers were strong. Indie had to seep in through the cracks and collect everything she found.
Of course, that was her job. Her responsibility, her mother had called it. As she stood up and stomped out of her room and down the stairs, a not so delightful thought swept through her.
That's all she was. Just a useful source of information.
She was just the Little Order Girl........
hahaahahha,, thanks guys!!! i'm working on the second chapter RIGHT now ((: stay tuned!!
--------------------
okay guys,, here is the next chapter!!!! ((:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
Chapter Two
Indiana stopped at the kitchen door. Inside the room, Mrs Weasley was absent-mindedly cooking something, perhaps for during the meeting. Mr Weasley was frowning at the Daily Prophet, it's moving pictures not holding Indiana's attention.
At the head of the table, Sirius Black was flipping a coaster between his fingers, a blank and bored look having been set in his features for weeks now. Indiana had to feel sorry for him, he'd not been out since he escaped from Azkaban. Well, Indie hadn't been out much either, but that was because she was usually too tired.
"Oh, I didn't see you walk in dear," Mrs Weasley said suddenly, startling Indie. Her head shot from Sirius to the direction of Mrs Weasley's voice, and she added a quick, small smile.
"Yeah, I figured the meeting would be soon," she said, "so I came downstairs."
"Well the meeting won't start until Remus and Mad-Eye come back from getting Harry," Mrs Weasley said.
Indiana nodded, and took a seat beside Sirius, sighing. The atmosphere would become immediately tense once Harry Potter arrived. Indiana had never really gotten on with him, she didn’t really know why.
Hermione and Ginny walked in, smiled, and then sat down near Mr Weasley. Indie slowly shuffled over and sat by them.
“Hi, how’s going?” she asked, leaning sideways to see both of their faces. Ginny smiled brightly, and opened her mouth to reply.
“Great!” she exclaimed, “How are you? Not too tired I hope.”
The ginger-haired girl continued to look genuinely interested, as Hermione turned.
“Yes, I hope you’re okay, you seemed very faint after the last meeting,” she added.
Indie laughed quietly. It was nice to have someone care, since her own parents didn’t really take much notice of her and her siblings.
“Yeh, I’m not too bad,” Indie said, “I didn’t get much sleep last night. Too busy siftin through evil minds I guess.”
“Indiana, you shouldn’t be sarcastic about your gift,” Mrs Weasley scolded, “you’re an absolute godsend to us, and you know it.”
Indiana looked to Hermione and Ginny, and they all rolled their eyes.
Mrs Weasley was always going on about how much good Indie was doing for the Order and how much it helped.
Frankly, Indie was sick of it. Yes, it was helpful, and yes it was going to help Harry stop Lord Voldemort, but...Indie didn’t even know how to describe it.
The constant reading of people’s minds put her in danger. By getting into their heads, she was opening holes and ways for others to get in. Or worse, for them to get out.
Thinking of this led Indie to an incident the other day. She had been sifting through Lucius Malfoy’s mind, and had opened a whole new door that showed her schemes, plots and ideas. It was a treasure trove, but it was full of landmines. She nearly got caught, and she could feel Lucius following her. The entrance she’d made, the door she’d opened, had allowed Lucius to get out.
See, when you were using Legillimency, Indie often thought of it as navigating through a castle. Some paths were clear, others were blocked or dangerous. A lot of the doors were locked, and you had to find the key to get in. And, if the castle guard found out you were there, you had to run as fast as you could to get away. You had to sneak around, be discreet, or risk being caught.
Indie had been lucky to not get caught, until she was nearly discovered by Lucius. Now, most of the Death Eaters were on guard for it now. They were ready for her, which made the task a whole lot harder.
Either way, Indie hated what she could do.
All of the daydreaming had allowed up to ten minutes to pass, and there was a knock on the front door. Mrs Weasley bustled out of the kitchen, and doen the hallway.
Sirius had perked up, and Snape had arrived in the few short minutes Indie had been lost in her own mind.
Hermione had turned to look down the hallway, and now turned back to Indie and Ginny.
“Looks like Harry’s here.”

This is really great! I just can't wait till your next post. I was wondering if Anton and Belle have any special powers, sense they and Indie are triplets. (They're all 15 right?) Quote:

STAY TUNED!!
-------------------------------------------
hey guys, sorry i took SO LONG to write a new chapter, but im on easter break right now, so im taking advantage of it! So, here is more of Indie's story::
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ Chapter Three - What Have You Got For Us?
Indie turned and peered down the hall. The knock which had announced the arrival of the group of aurors and Harry was followed by a loud crash.
"Tonks!" Mad-Eye Moody, the leader of Harry's rescue mission scolded. He continued to shake his head, as a young, purple-haired witch got herself up off the floor.
"Well, nobody told me the umbrella stand was there did they!" said Tonks, the youngest and clumsiest auror of the group, as she followed Moody to the kitchen rubbing her elbow.
Indie, Hermione and Ginny had to giggle.
The several others who had accompanied Mad-Eye and Tonks to Little Whinging also began to head into the kitchen, desperate for some hot tea and food, after riding broomstics through the chilly and cloudy sky.
Finally, Harry made his way into the room. He had somehow gotten taller and thinner over the holidays, and looked gawkier than Indie remembered him.
"Harry!" Hermione and Ginny cried, exciedly standing up and almost knocking him over as they ran to hug him simultaneously.
Indie stayed in her seat, and looked down at the table, twirling a small pool of water with her finger. There was incoherent and excited chatter behind her, but she didn't care to listen. Harry, of course, knew nothing of the Order or the meetings or any of that business.
"Looking a bit peaky Harry," Mrs Weasley said, loud enough for Indie to hear, "but dinner will have to wait until after the meeting I'm afraid."
There was a collective groan, as Ron, Fred and George had appeared in the hallway behind Harry, as well as Indie's siblings, Anton and Bella.
Ron immediately began to protest.
"But Mum -"
"But nothing!" Mrs Weasley interrupted, "Now upstairs, all of you! You know you can't be at the meetings."
There was a sigh of annoyance from Ron, and a few pouts as Hermione, Bella, Anton and the Weasley children headed up the stairs. Indie turned to watch them go up, as her three older siblings, Scott, Melanie and Paul walked into the kitchen from behind Harry.
Before her triplet siblings headed upstairs, she got the thumbs up and a warm smile from Bella. Indie smiled weakly, but felt a bit of the color wash back into her cheeks. That was until she saw Anton. He stomped up the stairs, his features drawn into a scowl, much like Ron, Fred and George. Hermione and Ginny had proceeded quietly.
Mrs Weasley counted the heads in the room, making sure everyone was in, before closing the kitchen door.
While everyone in the kitchen got themselves settled, Indie put her head down, and slipped out of her mind.
Creeping under the crack in the door, and following the skirting boards up the stairs, she found herself in the room with Harry, Ron, Hermione and her siblings.
"Why does she get to stay in the meetings!" Ron whinged, "She's the same age as any of us!"
"But she's needed!" Bella argued, "She's trying to help save everyone, which is more than I can say for you, Ronald!"
"Excuse me!" Harry butted in, "First off, Ron was the one who nearly got himself killed in first year so I could stop Voldemort -"
"Don't say his name," Anton said, but went on ignored.
"- from getting the Philosopher's Stone, he came into the Chamber of Secrets with me in second year to save Ginny, in third year he nearly lost his leg rescuing Sirius, and last year he believed that Voldemort was back!"
Harry stopped, and panted lightly for a moment.
"Second of all, what the hell is going on?" he cried, "I don't know what the meeting is for, what it's about. And what's it got to do with Voldemort and Indiana?"
"Don't. Say. The NAME!" Anton yelled, startling a few in the room with his outburst.
"Anton, calm down!" Bella scolded, looking from her brother back to Harry, "The meetings are for the Order of the Phoenix -"
"What's that?"
"Harry!" Hermione cried, "Let us finish and you'll find out."
Bella gave a small, quick smile to Hermione before returning her attention to Harry.
"The Order was founded by Dumbledore to fight You-Know-Who the first time," Bella began, "and now that he's back, everyone who is still loyal and alive have been called in."
There was a moment of silence as Harry processed his information.
"And where does Indie come into this?" he asked, looking between all of the other people in the room.
Bella sighed and looked to Anton.
Anton looked at her and shook his head, looking down at his feet and fiddling with his ring.
From Anton, Bella looked back to Harry.
"She's a Legillimens," Bella stated.
Harry looked from Bella, confused, to Hermione.
Hermione looked at Harry, to Bella, then back to Harry.
Sighing, she began. "A Legillimens is someone who can break into people's minds," she said, "and find out things, things that are useful. Like thoughts, memories, plans, stuff like that."
"She can plant false images too," Anton put in, "if they are thinking something, she can put a train of thought in heir heads that will confuse them, make them think of something else or go onto the wrong trail."
Harry was processing his thoughts again, as he looked at his converse trainers, then a stain in the carpet. He slowly looked back up, looking between the people in the room.
"So Indie's finding out stuff that will help defeat Voldemort?" Harry said plainly.
Anton threw the book he'd suddenly acquired at the wardrobe across the room.
"WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT SAYING THE NAME?" he screamed, before walking out of the room, and slamming the door behind him.
"Right"
The sudden burst of Mrs Weasley's voice in Indie's head startled her, as she snapped back into her own mind and looked up very quickly. There were only two sets of eyes on her, Mrs Weasley's and Tonks', since Mrs Weasley was aiming to get her attention and Tonks was poking her shoulder.
"Thought you'd fallen asleep on us," Tonks said, laughing lightly.
Indie smiled, and brushed her hair gently behind her ear, looking from Tonks, to Mrs Weasley, then up to Mr Weasley who sat at the head of the table beside Sirius and Remus.
Mr Weasley cleared his throat and crossed his hands on the table.
"Okay then, we'll let the meeting begin," he said, looking in the general direction of each person in turn.
"So Indie," added, turning to her, as their gazes crossed paths, "what have you got for us?"
Just like before, this post was great! I feel so badly for Indie! She must be very lonely, and tired! I can't keep my own thoughts straight. I'd be such a mess if I had anybody elses thoughts in my head to deal with. Quote:
Before her triplet siblings headed upstairs, she got the thumbs up and a warm smile from Bella.
Sweet Quote:
"So Indie," added, turning to her, as their gazes crossed paths, "what have you got for us?"
She must feel so used. This is sad.
-----------------------------------
okaayy, here is the fourth chapter! Chapter Four - The Meeting
Sighing and straightening in her chair, Indie opened her mouth.
"He's sort of laying low at the moment," she said, "he has no intentions of coming out in the open -"
"That's not good," Mr Weasley commented.
"But why not?" Tonks asked, "It should be a good thing because then there will be no civillian deaths or anything."
"Yes, but that means he could be planning something," Lupin stated, his brow furrowing and his elbows resting on the table.
Once again, eyes fell on Indie, as they waitied for her to answer their questions.
"His plans are...uncertain," Indie began, "he's not sharing with any of his Death Eaters -"
"Well why would he?" Snape added in his usual cold tone, "He knows that if he says anything it will alert us."
"Stop interrupting the girl," Mad-Eye scowled, "let her finish before you speculate!"
Indie gave a small smile in Mad-Eye's direction, but he did not break his scowl. Instead, his eye wizzed around in it's socket and he looked deep in thought.
"And his mind barriers are strong," Indie said, "he's sealed up the cracks well. It's difficult to get in."
There was a long moment of silence in the room. There was a particular mood about the air, one that didn't bode well.
It was disappointment. Indie knew it. They were disappointed that she didn't know more, that she didn't have anything useful for them to use. It was in the creases of their features.
Lupin wore his usual shabby expression, as he looked down at his fists. Mrs Weasley stood behind a frowning Mr Weasley, both wearing a distressed mask over their other expressions. Mad-Eye had kept his scowl, and Snape appeared equally unhappy just in front of him. Others in the room looked dishevelled and annoyed, but gave weak looks of encouragement when Indie glanced at them.
She looked to her oldest brother, Scott, who smiled briefly before staring blankly out the window. Similar reactions came from her other siblings, Mel and Paul.
Finally there was Tonks, who sat beside her. She glanced up at her purple-haired friend to find her smiling brightly. Indie had to laugh. Tonks could always make her feel better, with her gregarious personality. They were extremely good friends too, since they were two of the youngest at the meetings.
After the awkward and painful moment of silence, Sirius piped up. It startled Indie, as she had almost forgotten he was there.
"So what if his barriers are strong, at least we got something. But -"
Indie had been waiting for this bit.
"- it's extremely important that you keep trying."
Indie looked from Sirius to her feet, as shame washed over her.
Then, she remembered.
"Azkaban!" she exclaimed.
Eyes fell on her, some excited but most fairly confused.
"There was always something going on or being said about Azkaban," she added, "and...more people or something. I don't know what the link is..."
"Of course!" Mad-Eye growled, "He's going to try and break into Azkaban."
"Wha...?" Tonks looked really confused!
"All of his followers are in Azkaban," Lupin explained, "Rodolphus, Rabastan, Crouch, Bellatrix...."
Tonks shuddered at he mention of Bellatrix, but looked back to Lupin anyway.
"But it's impossible to break into Azkaban," Scott said, obviously one of the confused ones at the table.
"Maybe he's not trying to get in," Paul suggested, as Melanie nodded.
"He's trying to break them out," Melanie finished.
There was nodding and murmuring of affirmation. There was a very quick pause before eyes fell once again on Indie.
Mad-Eye stepped forward and glared at almost each of them before looking to Indie.
"You need to find out when he's going to attack Azkaban," Mad-Eye said, staring straight into Indie's bright blue eyes.
Indie's face fell. Here, she basically just got told what she had to do. There were no choices.
"But enough talk for now," he added, "this meeting has officially ended."
He turned to Sirius, who nodded and stood.
"By the Order of the Phoenix, there will be no further discussion of this until our next meeting, which will be held in exactly one week. Swear upon this oath."
Every person in the room stood, and looked to Sirius, their left hand raised in salute.
"We Swear."
Nice job, Kae. I feel so bad for Indie. I hope we get to see some interaction between her and Harry. They seem like an interesting couple. They actually have a lot in common, what with him having these peeks in to Voldemort's mind, and Indie able to sneek in. Well, I'll be watching for your next post. Hope it's soon. I really do enjoy reading your story.
call me butter, cos im on a roll!!
here's chapter five!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ No Sweet Dreams Tonight
Mrs Weasley walked over and opened the kitchen door, before calling to the others upstairs. Dinner plates began to appear on the kitchen table, as did platters of food and pitchers of drink in the center.
"Man, I'm hungry!" Tonks cried, as she began to spoon vegetables, pork and yorkshire puddings onto her plate. Indie giggled as she also took some pork and gravy.
"Dora, can you pass the vegies please?" Indie asked Tonks, prefering to call her Dora.
Nodding, Tonks passed over the tray of puddings, as the rest of the kids joined those already at the table.
Hermione and Ginny took their places on Tonks' left, Ron, Fred and George sat opposite beside Lupin, while Anton and Bella took their seats up by Scott, Mel and Paul. That left the seat between Indie and Sirius for Harry.
For some reason, Indie had never gotten on spectacularly well with Harry. They were both in the same year, and hung out around the same group of friends, but somehow they just didn't click.
"So Harry, how has your summer been?" Indie asked, as she passed the gravy down the table. Harry took the plate of pork Sirius had just passed him before looking up at Indie.
He smirked. "Perfectly lousy to be honest," he said, filling his plate.
Indie laughed quietly.
"Yeh,things aren't much better here either," she said, picking at her food. She found she wasn't too hungry at the moment.
Harry branched off into a conversation with Sirius and Lupin, while Tonks was making faces at Ginny and Hermione to her left. Fred and George who sat opposite with Ron were silently discussing something or other, possibly to do with their new inventions which Inde was yet to see.
Her siblings all sat at the top end of the table, talking quietly amongst themselves. Mr and Mrs Weasley were quietly and discreetly arguing about something or other.
That left Indie to feel pretty left out. She finished the small amount of pork she'd had on her plate, before pushing her chair out and standing. Tonks turned from Ginny and Hermione to look at Indie, a sad and confused look on her normally bright features.
"I'm going to bed," she stated in a montonous tone, not really talking to anyone in particular. There was a small incoherent murmur of good night from some, but many left Indie unacknowledged.
Before she could get out of the room, Tonks cried out.
"Wait!" she called, as she shoved her last yorkshire pudding in her mouth and stood up. She then began to follow Indie out of the kitchen.
Indie laughed, as Tonks gave an awkward smile while attempting to chew her food. They walked slowly and lightly up the stairs toward Indie's room, which was directly opposite to Tonks'. Unlike Indie, who shared with her sisters, Tonks had a room to herself.
"No, Indie," Tonks said, grabbing her arm lightly, "we'll go in my room. That way no siblings barge in."
She gave a slight wink, her dark eyes twinkling in the dim light, before opening the door and leading Indie in.
The room was a mess. Although, Indie couldn't say that her room was much different.
"So, why did you follow me upstairs?" Indie asked, sitting on the bed looking confused. It wasn't often anybody followed her anywhere, unless it was her siblings, but they seemed fairly distant tonight.
Tonks, who was attempting to straighten up the items on her bookcase, shrugged.
"You seem lonely these days," she said, "and since I'm an only child, I could use a little sister."
Indie smiled, and looked down at her feet awkwardly.
"Too bad you aren't going to be at Hogwarts this term," Indie said disappointedly, playing with the cord on her jacket.
Both girls sighed, as Tonks' hair faded from a vibrant purple to a slightly more morbid shade of grey-ish blue.
"You'll be fine," Tonks said, placing her hand on Indie's shoulder, "besides, you know you can always write. Or come and visit me astrally, whatever tickles your fancy!"
Laughing, Indie perked up a little, and Tonks' hair brightened once more.
"Thanks Dora," Indie said, "I'll be sure to write, and I'll dob on anyone who's being nasty!"
Tonks giggled. "Yeh, I'll beat 'em up for ya!"
Indie laughed out loud, the biggest laugh and smile she'd managed in quite some time. It felt good to have a friend like Tonks. She was an unlikely friend, sure. A newly graduated Auror who was 22 hanging out with a desperate little 15 year old.
Oh yes, Indie knew it was an odd pairing, but neither minded as they continued to laugh and joke on until footsteps were heard on the stairs.
"Sounds like everyone's off to bed," Tonks said, looking toward the door and the hallway behind it, "the party poopers!"
"Ha ha," Indie added sarcastically, straightening her jacket as she stood, "I guess I'll be off to bed then."
Also standing, Tonks walked toward the door with Indie.
"That's a good idea, otherwise your Mum will have my head for keeping you up all night," Tonks laughed, opening the door.
"Night Dora!" Indie exclaimed as she headed straight across the hall to her bedroom.
Tonks waved sarcastically, smiling brightly.
"Good night, Indie," she cried, "sweet dreams!"
Indie nodded as she walked through her door and over to her bed. Despite what Tonks had said, and the fun she'd had over the past hour since the meeting, she knew for sure she wouldn't be having sweet dreams tonight.
Kae, this is such a great story! I'm so glad I'm reading it. I just wish there was more of it. I could read this for ours at a time. And I'm so glad you're posting more often. I was afraid this was going to be yet another story abandoned after I started reading it and got all interested in it. Quote:
"I'm going to bed," she stated in a montonous tone, not really talking to anyone in particular. There was a small incoherent murmur of good night from some, but many left Indie unacknowledged.
I feel so bad for her. She needs to be included. I'm glad she has Tonks. That was sweet of Tonks to go with her to her room. Quote:
"Good night, Indie," she cried, "sweet dreams!"
Indie nodded as she walked through her door and over to her bed. Despite what Tonks had said, and the fun she'd had over the past hour since the meeting, she knew for sure she wouldn't be having sweet dreams tonight.
This was enough to make me want to cry.
Great post Kae! I hope you can post son. Real Soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Connie, i am sooooo glad you like it!!
you my one and only loyal reader!!
love yaaaa!! (:
imma gonna start the next chapter now. im meant to be doing homework, but mom is out,
-----------------------------------------
chapter six!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ Chapter Six - Love, Indie xx
Dear Diary,
Indie here. Only five more days until we all go back to Hogwarts. The fact that I've been counting down since the last day of school can sort of explain the excitement factor here. Although, from what Melanie and Paul have said, fifth year isn't something to be excited about. I was talking to Dora, and she reckons I'm not excited to go back to school, but to get out of here.
Number 12 Grimmauld Place. It is really a dreary name when you come to think of it. And the place is disgusting! Mrs Weasley has been making everybody clean it when they're not doing anything. I often get out of it, but for Dora's sake I pitch in anyway. It's pretty comical watching Dora trying to clean anything!
Like today, when she went to get Harry from the Dursley's, she was going on about how clean the house was, compared to hers.
Speaking of Harry Potter, he arrived today. Scott, Dora, Mad-Eye, Lupin and a few others went to get Harry from his house. He arrived just as the meeting started, so was sent upstairs with everyone else. Except me of course.
I'd like to say that Harry coming would be a good thing, since we are sort of friends, I guess. But I've ony spoken to him once, and he practically ignored me anyway. Started a conversation with Sirius about a hippogriff (oh yeh, Buckbeak!).
And earlier, before the meeting officially began, I eavesdropped a bit upstairs, where they were all having a massive......i don't think argument is the right word, but something pretty similar, about me.
I think, he sort of realised I was actually on his side, not trying to kick him out or anything. Anyway, he is the Boy Who Lived so I don't suppose it matters at all.
Anyway, it's getting pretty late, and I can hear Mrs Weasley making the rounds to get us all in bed. "You've got a lot of work to do tomorrow, we're cleaning out the upstairs living room!"
Oh, joy to the world! *note the sarcasm* grr.......
But, I'm knackered, so off to bed it is.
Good Night,
Love Indie xx
Hello Kae, thanks for another great post. I love how real Indie is. It is nice to see her thinking of Harry. She doesn't really know what she thinks of him does she. At first before he got there, she was kind of indifferent to him. Quote:
Indiana had never really gotten on with him, she didn’t really know why.
But maybe now she is thinking on him a little more. Quote:
I'd like to say that Harry coming would be a good thing, since we are sort of friends, I guess.
I think on her eavesdropping she's thinking her and Harry are dealing with the same thing. Voldemorts mind. Only hmm, Harry doesn't know yet that it's Voldemorts mind he's in does he. He thinks it'e wierd dreams he's having. This will be verry interresting. I do love Indie though. I'll be watching for your next post.
okaay, sorry for the hold up, but here is chapter number seven! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ Chapter Seven - Doxy Fumigation
"Indie. Indie! INDIE!"
"Huh, what?" Indie mumbled, sitting up dazed.
Standing beside her, was Tonks, her hands on Indie's shoulders.
Tonks laughed and sat down on the end of the bed.
"Everyone's been up for a couple of hours," she said, "but they need your help upstairs."
Indie leaned back on her pillows and groaned, rubbing her eyes.
"I don't want to get up," Indie sighed, looking out the door as Hermione wandered past.
Tonks laughed again, pulling back Indie's blankets, exposing her purple monkey boxers and Quidditch World Cup shirt.
"Well, too bad you have too!" Tonks said, before looking at Indie's boxers, "Nice boxers by the way."
Indie and Tonks laughed, before Indie pointed at the door.
"Okay then, leave while I get changed," she said, sitting up, spinning around and stretching again.
Tonks stood up and headed toward the door. "Gladly my dear," she said, "your boxers are pretty but your knickers might be a sight!" She quickly poked her tongue out at Indie before heading out into the hall, closing the door behind her.
Emerging about five minutes later in blue jeans and a purple t-shirt, Indie tied her long hair into a ponytail as she headed upstairs. She could hear them banging and laughing just above her, so she wandered up.
Indie walked into the room just as Hermione let out a scream. Eyes wide, Indie gazed over at her, and saw small fairy-like creatures with four legs and completely black bodies. Doxies Indie thought, as she dived behind a dusty old armchair.
“Ouch!”
“Whoa!”
Indie looked, and realised she’d dived straight onto Harry. Blushing, Indie sat up and let Harry rub the new bruise on his thigh, caused by her elbow.
“Sorry Harry,” she said, “I didn’t see you there. I saw Doxies and ran!”
Harry laughed lightly, grabbing what appeared to be –
A plastic spray bottle?
“It’s okay,” he said, “but here’s the Doxy Repellent. They’re putting up a fight.”
Indie nodded, a small smile on her lips as she peered carefully over the top of the chair they were hiding behind. From here, she could see Fred and Ginny, back to back spraying anything and everything, while George was using an old photo album to bat a few Doxies out of Hermione’s hair. Ron and Mrs Weasley appeared to be fighting solo for the moment.
“I suppose we better go and help them,” Indie said, looking down at Harry, who momentarily joined her kneeling. He shrugged, as a couple of the small winged creatures finally noticed they were hiding.
Indie gasped and raised her spray bottle in defence.
“Incoming!” she cried, as she pulled the trigger, spraying the Doxy with a dark colored liquid. The horrid thing dropped instantly, and lay like a dead cockroach on the floor.
Harry also did the same, taking two down in one spray. After several moments, and lots of panting, all of the Doxies were exterminated on the floor.
“That was….” Indie searched for the right word, “interesting!” Her sarcasm could not be disguised as she threw her spray bottle down and lay backward, sighing.
Harry laughed quietly, while the others simply smiled, still panting from the Doxy encounter.
“Anyway,” Mrs Weasley started, brushing her hands on the apron she wore, “let’s sweep the room up, put all the furniture straight and maybe give it a good dust. We’ll move on to another room after lunch.”
There was a collective groan of disapproval, at which Mrs Weasley defiantly put her hands to her hips.
“You lot might get to go to Hogwarts in a few days, but the rest of us need to live here for some time!” she exclaimed, “While we’ve got the help, we’re taking advantage of it.”
“But Mum!” the Weasleys chorused, being met with a pointed finger.
“No buts!” she cried, “you’ll help clean up, or you won’t get any lunch!”
There was a moment of awkward silence.
“Well, I’m sold,” Indie said, sitting up quickly before standing.
“Where’s the broom?”
Awe, That was really nice. I so much enjoyed that! I feel good when Indie gets to enteract with the rest of the kids. It probably helps her feel close to normal. It was funny when Harry was already in the hiding spot from the doxies when she jumped back there. Great work! I love it. I hope you can get another post up soon. I'll be watching for it.
thanks guys!! and....*drum roll* here is the much anticipated new chapter!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ Chapter Eight – Can You Pass The Salt?
Indie sighed in accomplishment, as she placed her broom against the wall. All the doxies had been swept up and destroyed, the dusting was done, there was a new cover on the lounges, and there was even light peeking in.
“I think it’s lunch time now,” Harry said, as he turned to Ron. Before he could say anything however, his stomach grumbled violently.
“I think Ron agrees,” Hermione said, causing those in the room to laugh.
Indie laughed also, as she looked around.
“Hey, where are my brothers and sisters?” she asked. She thought it was far too…lonely at the moment amongst the best friends and the Weasley siblings.
“Oh,” Mrs Weasley began, flustered, “they are attempting to clean out Kreacher’s cupboard.”
“Good luck to them,” Harry said, nudging Indie in the arm playfully with his elbow, both of them laughing quietly.
Ginny cleared her throat loudly.
“Shall we go downstairs then?” she said immediately, “See how they’re going…”
Indie glanced quickly at Ginny, who appeared to be giving her an evil look. But, since she only glanced, Indie figured the stench of Doxy repellent was getting to her.
“Let’s go!” Indie cried happily, as she sprung up from her seat and moved quickly toward the door, followed eagerly by Harry, Ron, Fred and George. Mrs Weasley and Ginny followed close behind.
Stomping down the stairs talking and laughing, Indie and the others discussed horrid house cleaning, and their upcoming return to Hogwarts. They were all in Gryffindor, so it was safe to say they spent much of the year together. Indie and her triplet, Bella shared a dormitory with Hermione and a couple of other girls, while Anton, her other triplet, was in a room with Ron and Harry. Also, Melanie and Paul, her older twin siblings, were in the same year as Fred and George Weasley.
There was never nothing to talk about.
Taking their seats around the table, they continued to talk. The others, Indie’s siblings and the older house guests, such as Tonks, Lupin and Sirius had also made their way to the kitchen.
“I swear,” Paul said, sitting opposite Indie and next to George, “people’s stomachs tell them when lunch is supposed to be.”
Bella, who sat on Indie’s left nodded vigorously.
“I know!” she added, “Everyone just manages to end up here at like, exactly one o’clock!”
Small laughter and nodding in agreement occurred, as Mrs Weasley passed plates down to everyone.
“Here, Anton, pass it all the way down…no, Indie that’s for Sirius not Harry…Tonks! Don’t drop the plates please!”
There was laughter again, which followed a crash in the previous moment. A blushing Tonks retrieved all the pieces from the floor and Mrs Weasley took it from her, shaking her head.
After the plates were passed successfully, with only the one klutzy moment from Tonks, the food started to follow.
Almost all the seats were taken up by Order members and the kids, so the chatter was increasing slightly each minute. On Indie’s left, was her sister Bella, to her right, sat Harry. Sirius was on Harry’s right, at the end of the table. To his right, sat Lupin, then Paul, George and Fred. Opposite the Weasley twins, sat the remaining Stewarts, Anton and Melanie, then Scott to their left. Lupin was opposite Scott, with Tonks to his left, then Moody on his right. Mr Weasley took the other head of the table, while Mrs Weasley sat next to Tonks. Indie’s parents, Mikaela and Taylor sat between Scott and Mr Weasley, leaving only one seat empty.
During Order meetings, that was usually Snape’s seat. Unfortunately (well, fortunately to some) Snape was off somewhere with the Dark Lord, spying, running errands and things like that. Harry was determined that Snape was evil, but Indie knew better.
“Hey, Indie,” Harry said, nudging her again and bringing her back to earth, “can you pass the salt?”
Ah, Kae. That was relly great. Too bad for Ginny. I love Harry Ginny ships, but this potential Harry Indie one sounds great too. I'll support either one you go with. Glad that's up to you. Although Snape is helping the order, I agree with Harry. Snape is evil, although at times I do feel extremely sorry for him. Great post. I'm glad you're posting more often now. You're doing a great job! I'll be watching for your next one.
rightioooo,, Chapter Nine is here!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ Chapter Nine – Afternoon off!
For the first time in what seemed like weeks, Indie was breathing in the fresh air of London, as the group of teenagers wandered through Regent’s Park. Almost all of the kids of Grimmauld place had come along. The three youngest Stewarts were there, Harry, Hermione and the four youngest Weasleys.
There was incoherent chatter, and giant fairy floss being passed amongst the group, as they all searched for a table.
“There’s one!” Bella cried, as they quickly made their way over and surrounded the small, wooden table. There was barely enough room for all of them, so some ended up on the table itself, rather than the seats.
“I’m so glad we didn’t have to clean all afternoon,” Ron said, taking a sip of his Coke along with the murmurs of agreement.
“We can just use the excuse that we have to pack for school,” Fred said.
George nodded, before adding, “Yeh, we go back the day after next.”
There were a few moans of annoyance, but Hermione looked quite pleased.
“Aren’t you excited to go back?” Hermione asked her excitement easy to read.
Anton snorted, along with a few other disapproving laughs.
“Who would want to go back,” he said, “we have OWLs this semester.”
Another few groans followed.
“Oi!” Fred called, “You can’t complain, we have NEWTs!”
“Well, that’s not our problem,” Bella scoffed, stealing a handful of fairy floss from Indie.
“You won’t be saying that when you have to do your NEWTs little sister!” Melanie exclaimed, “You just wait!”
Laughter followed the small discussion of school, before they totally changed the subject.
“I hope we don’t need to clean tomorrow,” Ron whined, Ginny agreeing with him.
The house was nearly cleaned now, just a couple more rooms to do. Much to the delights of many at the park table, they were off to Hogwarts, so they didn’t need to clean.
“We shouldn’t do,” Indie said, “we would need to pack.”
“Yeh, because our stuff isn’t already packed enough as it is,” Anton sighed.
Most of them had had their bags packed for weeks, since they had been living at Grimmauld Place.
“I thought we were going to Diagon Alley tomorrow…” Bella put in, obviously a little confused.
Hermione shook her head.
“Yes, of course we are,” Hermione cried, “what do you think we were going to go to school with; short robes and no books?”
“Yeh, Bella!”
“Shut up Anton,” Bella muttered, rolling her eyes. Indie looked to Hermione, who wasn’t looking at Bella at that moment. She appeared to be looking dreamily at one of the people in the group, but Indie was distracted by Harry nudging her on her left.
“You’re spilling your drink,” he said, pushing the cup upright so it wasn’t landing on Ron’s tatty old shoes.
Gasping, Indie flung it back towards her, causing droplets to spray all over her and Harry.
“Oops…” she murmured, pulling out a tissue from her pocket to give to Harry.
He took it, smiling and laughing quietly.
“What?” Indie demanded, as she also wiped the soft drink from her t-shirt.
Harry, still laughing, looked up.
“Oh, nothing,” he said, “I just always wondered what it would be like to have a lemonade shower.”
Both Indie and Harry laughed together, before an awkward silence.
It seemed that every eye was on the two soda-stained friends. Some were looking on in confusion; others had a glint in their eye. There was one, who looked almost like she could murder someone, her cheeks matching the color of her hair.
After people got over the drink spillage, Melanie realised it was actually beginning to get dark.
“Hey guys,” she said, “we might want to think about heading back. The sun’s starting to set.”
There was loud groaning from stretching and jumbled chatter as the group of eleven stood and began to head back toward 12 Grimmauld Place.
Indie walked further to the back of the group, with Fred, George and Paul leading them back. In front of Indie was a stomping Ginny, and an arguing Hermione and Anton. They must have been discussing something to do with Diagon Alley, for Indie heard mention of Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour.
Behind Indie and Harry (who always conveniently ended up next to her for some reason), was Ron and Bella, whom Indie was trying desperately to overhear.
However, she only got a few words and phrases out.
“I love…sunsets are beautiful…you too?”
That was about all she could gather, because of the spontaneous break into song at the front of the group.
Harry laughed again, a little louder this time, before he leant down to talk into Indie’s ear.
“What we get up to on an afternoon off!”
sorry it took so long, i've had exams and assessment tasks galore :S still haven't finished the art one
so, in this chapter, there's a different star aside from Indie hope you enjoy it! (: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ Chapter Ten – Will You Help Me?
Dinner had gone relatively quick last night, between Mrs Weasley scolding them for having sweets before dinner and the various discussion of tomorrow’s trip.
And now, Indie found herself getting ready for the said trip to Diagon Alley to buy their school things. Their mother had sent her to Grimmauld place with enough money for her books when the list arrived; which they had about, a week ago. Though, because Mrs Weasley had made them clean the house, there had never been an opportunity to go. Until now.
“Hey, Bella,” Indie called, as she squatted beside her trunk, “you haven’t got my jeans have you? You know the light blue ones with the embroidered stuff on the leg?”
A thud served as a reply for Indie, as Bella hit her head on the cupboard shelf above where she was looking. Indie giggled, before she wandered over to have a look for herself.
“Don’t hit the shelf, Bell,” Indie exclaimed, as she snatched her jeans from the cupboard, “you know it can’t fight back!”
“Oh ha ha!” Bella added sarcastically, rubbing the back of her head, “You are so funny Indiana Stewart!”
Indie pulled on her jeans and laughed, before smiling cheekily in Bella’s direction.
“I know, what can I say?” Indie added in equal sarcasm, before she pulled on her favourite blue sweater and headed out the bedroom door, literally barging into Tonks on her way out. Indie managed to regain her balance quite quickly, however the same couldn’t be said for the purple-haired witch she ran into. Tonks ended up falling right over into the bedroom door beside her, before she finally mustered enough self-control to begin standing up.
“Good one, Indie!” she exclaimed, as the younger girl shrugged, “Who’s room is this anyway?”
Suddenly, it opened, but Tonks had not yet recovered from her collision, and was still leaning on it. She fell once again, but rather than hitting the ground, which she’d squeezed her eyes shut in anticipation for, she instead fell onto the taller, stronger and older brother of Indie; Scott.
Indie laughed as Tonks had squealed, but then stopped abruptly when Scott gave her the stink eye. With that, she turned to head downstairs, still giggling.
“I’ll leave you two…friends…to sort yourselves out,” she added, before running quickly down the stairs, where she ran (though not quite so literally) into Ginny.
“Oh, hey there Ginny,” she greeted, smiling, “how are you today?”
The ginger-haired girl did not share Indie’s warm emotions, and came across as cold and bitter. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, as she replied to Indie.
“Fine,” was the abrupt and angry response she got from Ginny, before she stomped toward the kitchen a few floors down. What is with everybody today? Indie thought to herself, as she continued down the stairs to get her breakfast.
Many were already seated at the table eating their bacon, eggs and toast when Indie got there. Unfortunately, her usual seat – between Harry and Tonks – had been taken by Ginny, and Hermione had moved up into Ginny’s regular seat beside Tonks. Indie simply pulled the chair out from beside Hermione and sat there instead, not caring much for Ginny’s….obsession.
“So I take it you’re excited to start fifth year, Hermione?” Indie asked, as she put some eggs and bacon on her plate and poured herself an orange juice. She was left without a reply however, and turned to actually look at Hermione, who was gazing across the table, appearing to be off with the pixies.
“Hermione!” Indie exclaimed, tapping the girl on the shoulder, but she didn’t budge. Indie recognised the expression; it had been on her features yesterday at the park, as she stared almost dreamily at someone. Aligning her gaze with Hermione’s, Indie was able to work out who she was staring at.
It could have been Dedalus Diggle, one of the Aurors who brought Harry back from Little Whinging, but he was at least fifty years old, and looked about three times shabbier than Lupin. Check him off the list, Indie thought jokingly.
There was Snape’s empty seat, but Hermione couldn’t possibly be pining for school that much could she?
Then there was Paul, who now sat between Scott and Anton, but Indie highly doubted it would be him.
However, she almost slapped herself for being so stupid. She knew exactly how she could find out who Hermione had a crush on. Gently pretending to be fixing her belt buckle, she put her head down and let her mind wander, in an ever so subtle manner, over to Hermione.
Careful to keep her presence unknown, she had to silence an incredibly startled and somewhat slightly disgusted gasp as she withdrew back into her own head.
It was Anton! Hermione was gazing dreamily at her brother!
“Oh my god!” she exclaimed to herself in a whisper, as Hermione sighed beside her, causing her to look up, her expression still shocked.
“I know he is isn’t he?” Hermione murmured, though possibly not for everyone to hear.
“What was that?” Tonks asked, turning from her discussion over the table with Remus to Hermione. However, before she could say anything else she would regret, Hermione snapped out of her trance.
“What?!” she exclaimed, “Oh, nothing!” She laughed awkwardly, and turned back to her scrambled eggs on toast, blushing profusely.
Tonks raised an eyebrow at Indie, who shook her head. Both girls exchanged expressions of humour before turning back to their food also.
Except for Indie, she instead leaned in to Hermione, who turned to face her.
“It’s okay Hermione,” Indie said, “I totally understand. And give you permission.”
Hermione looked absolutely mortified.
“I simply don’t know what you’re talking about!” she cried, “And nor is it any of your business!”
“It’s my brother,” Indie added, “therefore, it is my business.”
Hermione, looking positively defeated, slumped and gazed at her feet, before turning back to Indie.
“Well, since you’ve now made it your business,” Hermione began, stumbling over her words. They must have been difficult ones, otherwise she wouldn’t have had such trouble with them.
“Will you help me?”
Hello Kae! I'm sorry I didn't post. I did read the chapter, and I was fixing to comment but got called away, and I guess I clicked on preview instead of submit. I am sorry I didn't make sure it posted like I usually do, so I will comment on both of them now. I loved them both first of all. I love it that Indie is able to have good times with the others. I'm afraid her care free days will soon be over, as will Harry's also. Hehehe, of course I'm just assuming this. Ginny is adorable showing her age with the jealousy of Indie, and Harry.Here Quote:
In front of Indie was a stomping Ginny,
“Fine,” was the abrupt and angry response she got from Ginny, before she stomped toward the kitchen a few floors down.
and here Quote:
I loved it!
Of the whole chapter though, this was my favorite part! Quote:
I love finding Hermione being human rather than the all knowing know it all that is portrayed in the movies.
Wonderful post, Kae, and beautifully written!
I hope the exams and special tasks are over with. And thank you for posting with all you have going on. I will be watching for your next post.
okay, here is a brand new chapter!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ Chapter Eleven - She Likes....
Indie was in shock. Hermione...asking for help?
That rarely happened; usually it was Indie asking Hermione, with Ron and Harry not far behind.
"Wait, say that again," Indie said, "I swear I heard you wrong!"
Hermione rolled her eyes and gave Indie the stink-eye for the moment, before softening again. Indie laughed, not having seen this side of Hermione before. She wasn't going to let the moment pass too soon, that was for sure!
"Okay," she began, "I will help you. Under one condition..."
That made Hermione's eyes widen, almost in fear, just as Indie opened her mouth again.
"You do all my homework until Christmas!" she added, smiling widely and cheekily, her eyes twinkling.
Almost instantaneously, Hermione smirked, her features spelling out disbelief, causing Indie's face to fall.
"You'll help me with my homework?" she asked, looking hopeful.
Hermione laughed, shaking her head at her friend's antics.
"Okay," she said, nodding now as she spoke, and also looking extremely happy, thoguh dazed also.
Indie, meanwhile, was bouncing in her seat and clappin gently, but hysterically. Her long blonde hair was bobbing beside her shoulders, before she stopped, and blew it out of her face.
"Perfect," she said, thinking aloud, as she turned to face Anton again, who wasn't really paying attention to anything but his breakfast.
Hermione followed Indie's gaze, and sighed happily when she saw the boy, sinking her chin into her open hand and having her eyes glaze over.
Once again, Indie had to laugh, before she nudged her friend in the shoulder as she stood up.
"Come on," she said, pulling Hermione to her feet, "we have work to do!"
* * * * * *
An hour had gone quickly as the group of young witches and wizards, plus several undercover Aurors, had made their way through London to Diagon Alley. Indie was standing with her sisters, Melanie and Bella, as well as Dora. Fred and George were just in front, with Scott, Paul and Anton, while Harry, Ron and Hermione were further behind. Ginny had decided she'd stick with her mother this time, and so was accompanying Mrs Weasley, while Mad-Eye, Shacklebolt, Diggle and Lupin were dotted around the four corners of the group.
Their first stop was Gringotts, as they all needed to get money before they began to purchase their school things. The Weasleys branched of as one, follwed by Harry and Hermione, with Diggle and Shacklebolt following them to Madame Malkins; the boys had managed to grow again and needed new robes.
Indie meanwhile followed her siblings, except Scott, who had stayed behind at Grimmauld place, and her parents, Mikaela and Taylor, to Flourish and Blotts.
Anton and Paul were up ahead with their father, while Indie, Melanie and Bella hung back while their mother window-shopped.
"Hey, Bel," Indie began, nudging her other triplet on the arm, "guess what?"
"You're mad and I'm not?" she asked playfully, flicking her brown hair over her shoulder and smiling sweetly. Melanie, who was standing just to Bella's left shook her head in playful dismay at her two younger sisters.
"Bel, shut up," Melanie said jokingly, before looking to Indie, her black hair glinting in the sunlight as she turned, "what, Indie?"
Indie brushed off Bella's comment, and looked straight to Melanie, "Hermione has a little crush -"
"Duh!" Bella interrupted, "We all know she's been writing madly to that Krum boy from Durmstrang."
Melanie elbowed her brunette sister in the arm, and once again added, "Bel, shut up! Let Indie talk!"
Bella looked resentful towards Melanie, but remainned silent as Indie finished her story.
"No, it's not Viktor," she began, "someone much closer to home -" she lowered her voice to a whisper and leaned into her sisters before she spoke next. "She likes Anton!"
