Chapter Three: "A Muggle Christmas?" - Part two


The next day in the morning, everyone was on the platform in Hogsmeade, saying goodbye to each other. Harry, Ron and Hermione were saying goodbye to Hagrid.

"Have a happy Christmas," finished Harry, for all three of them.

They were almost the last ones who still didn’t get on the Hogwarts Express, but not late. Before getting on the train, Hermione glanced around, but didn’t see the one she wanted to see. He was probably already inside.

Harry and Ron found an empty compartment and got in, but Hermione spotted another one, with just one person in it. He was wearing black clothes, as she was used to, had a very pale skin and silvery hair. He didn’t seem to notice her; he was blankly glancing outside.

"Hermione? Are you coming?" Harry asked, poking his head out.

"Do you mind if I’ll come later with you? I’ll just -"

"Okay," said Harry, smiling, probably guessing what was she going to do. He didn’t actually care about her friendship with Draco. "I’m happy if you’re happy," he told her a few days ago.

She smiled back to Harry and carefully opened the compartment’s door Draco was in. But he was now looking at a... patronus? He winced as he looked at Hermione and quickly turned his face. The patronus had simply vanished.

"Was that a -" started Hermione, but stopped when Draco looked away. "I didn’t know you could -" she continued, but stopped again, realizing that she wasn’t actually nice by saying that.

"Produce a patronus?" Draco finished for her. He said it as if he was ashamed of it. "I didn’t know either. Until a minute ago."

"What shape did it have? It disappeared before I could see it."

Draco whispered "Expecto Patronum" and a small, silvery dragon appeared. Of course, she thought. Draco’s name meant dragon in Latin. "I guess you found a very happy memory then," said Hermione, smiling.

"I suppose," he said, still looking at his patronus.

"Do you want me to leave you alone?"

"Of course not," he added quickly, trying to smile. "I was waiting for you."

Sooo I have a biiiiig problem. I didn't get the chance to write something new for a loooong time. I've just been so busy with school and writing something else for contests and lately, for the school's magazine too. I have no idea what I am going to do with this one. Maybe write a dramatic end and probably a sequel later. What do you think?

well, i'm not telling what to do, but i defiantly think you should keep some version of this story (PLEASE!!!!!!!!!). Also, you don't have to post every other day or so maybe (because you're busy) you could just keep this up and not post for a week or however long it takes until your life settles down. Just a suggestion, but it's up to you.

Life should come first, but maybe you could co- write this with someone. Then you'd have more time for yourself! You can take your time with chapters.

Anyway, awesome chapter! It was cute!

You had better keep writing this story!!!!! I am so hooked! I've always wanted to see a kind of forbidden romance between Draco and Hermione, and I've always wanted to see a softer, more vulnerable side of Draco. The Voldemort-dream scenes are chilling- I love them! Can't wait to see you develop them.

I know you've freaked out before when you felt you had nothing new to offer- please don't feel that way. Story writing is a process- sometimes you can see the whole story beginning to end and just need to fill in the details, and sometimes the story unfolds even to you as you write it.

You've got Ron down just perfectly- I think we can all see him reacting exactly as you've written!

I've been laughing at myself because I find myself blushing along with Hermione... could be my forever-long crush on Draco coming out.

Are you going to develop more with Draco's relationship to his mom and dad? I once pictured an argument between them where Lucius says "You baby that boy!" to which Narcissa retorts "And you bully him!" I'd love to see the relationship dynamics between all three of them.

And if that's not the direction you take your story, that's totally cool- maybe I'll get up the guts to post a story myself!

Chapter Three: "A Muggle Christmas?" - Part three


They talked for about an hour, and the compartment door suddenly opened. It was Harry. "Do you mind if I stay with you?" He asked unsure. It felt weird to stay with Draco, as if they didn’t hate each other for six years. "Seamus wanted to show Ron something and -"

"Do you mind?" Hermione asked, looking at Draco.

"Don’t worry, I won’t attack him," he said, smiling. Harry made a funny face; it was the first time he had ever seen Draco actually smile, not smirk, like he used to. He couldn’t even imagine what Hermione could’ve done to him to change him like that.

"So, what are your plans for this holiday?" Draco asked, looking at Harry. Hermione looked at Draco shocked. He was not going to say his plans, was he? His plans with her. She could only hope, but Draco didn’t look at her.

"Uh... Staying at Ron’s place," said Harry awkwardly, not expecting this question. "You?"

Hermione kept looking desperately at Draco, but he didn’t look back at her. "Staying home, as usual, with my parents," said Draco casually. And maybe a couple of Death Eaters, or maybe Voldemort himself, thought Harry, but didn’t say it out loud, because it would’ve been too rude, now that Draco was polite to him.

It was pretty weird to see Draco and Harry having a normal conversation, without trying to kill each other. The Hogwarts Express stopped after a few hours. They got on Platform 9 and ¾, but Draco didn’t stay with Hermione, because Molly Weasley appeared and they didn’t want to have to explain what they were doing together.

"Are you sure you don’t want to stay over this holiday?" Molly asked.

"Yes, I am sure. But thank you, Mrs. Weasley," said Hermione.

"Is she always like that?" Draco asked, suddenly appearing next to Hermione, after the Weasley family left. Hermione didn’t say anything; just smiled. "Look, there are my parents," she said, looking at a tall man and a rather tiny woman, sitting next to him. She hugged them both, while Draco was thinking about his parents; his father would never hug him.

"Hello," said Mr. Granger, smiling, "you must be Draco."

"Yes, I am. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Chapter Three: "A Muggle Christmas?" - Part four


"Are you hungry?" Mrs. Granger asked when they got home.

"Starving," said Hermione. "Are you?" She asked, looking at Draco. He nodded and followed Hermione to the kitchen. Their house was a lot smaller than his, Draco thought. But he preferred this one; cozy and warm.

"How come you haven’t told us anything about Draco?" Mrs. Granger asked.

"Well, let’s say he’s a new friend," said Hermione, smiling at the silvery haired figure.

"In what House are you?" Mrs. Granger spoke again, curiously.

Hermione and Draco suddenly stopped eating. "Um... Slytherin," hesitated Draco. "But don’t worry mom," Hermione went on, the moment he stopped, "he’s not like the others I told you about."

"The others?" Draco laughed, smirking in Hermione’s direction.

"Well... yes," said Hermione blushing.

"And where do your parents work?" Mr. Granger asked.

"Dad, there’s no need to interrogate Draco. I bet everyone -"

"Don’t worry, they’re actually the first ones to ask me this stuff," said Draco kindly. "My father works at the Ministry of Magic and my mother... she doesn’t really have to work," he continued unsure. He wanted to avoid the He-Having-One-Of-The-Richest-Wizarding-Families subject, and Mr. Granger seemed to understand.

Hermione’s parents noticed that Draco wasn’t comfortable at all talking about his family, so they asked him about his favourite classes (which seemed to be Hermione’s favourites too) and even talked about Quidditch.

"Oh, you are a Seeker as well?" Mrs. Granger asked.

"As… well?" Draco said unsure, looking at Hermione.

"Yes," continued Mrs. Granger, "Hermione told us about Harry being a very talented Seeker."

"Oh," said Draco, smirking again at Hermione, who felt the urge to bury herself. "But he is as good as Harry," managed Hermione to say.

"No, I’m not. I lost every match against him," he laughed.

"Let me show you your bedroom," said Hermione, after they finished eating.

"So this is how a muggle house looks like," said Draco suddenly, laughing.

"How does your house look like?" She asked amused.

"Well, it's full of Magic... stuff. Dark Magic stuff, in my case. Maybe you’ll come one day," he added, making Hermione’s heart beat crazily. He also noticed that, so he didn’t say anything else.

They got upstairs, and Hermione showed him a nice bedroom. It was nothing like his. Like the rest of the house, it looked welcoming and comfortable.

"My bedroom in next to this one, if you need something -" started Hermione shyly. "Good night," she added after a few moments.

"Good night to you too."

Draco had such a good time in the past few days. It also felt weird, because he had never celebrated Christmas at home. Hermione’s parents even got him a present.

"I hope you enjoy reading," said Mrs. Granger, while Draco was unwrapping his present.

"Yes, I do," he said, looking amused at his copy of The Philosophy of the Mundane: Why Muggles Prefer Not to Know, by Mordigus Egg.

"He's actually my only friend who reads something," Hermione said, giggling. Besides that Marauder’s Map, she added just for herself, thinking about Harry. Draco seemed to blush, but his extremely pale skin made that impossible.

Blank.

Draco seemed to be... in nowhere. He could see only darkness.

He suddenly heard a hissing noise. He couldn’t understand it, but, as it got closer and closer... It was repeating his name.

"Who or what are you?" Draco asked carefully, a bit scared.

"My Massster callsss me Nagini."
Nagini? "You can’t be. You are the Dark Lord’s snake. I can’t talk to you."

"It isss not. My Massster told you everything. You are ssslowly getting Sssalazar Ssslytherin’sss power. He wasss a Parssselmouth. You know that. My Massster wasss right then." It was talking so slow, clearly hissing every word.

"So? What do you want? Or what does 'your Master' want?"

He didn’t ask anything else because he knew the answer. "He isss waiting for you," hissed Nagini, and everything was flooded in darkness.

Draco woke up.

"Hello, aunt Bella," he said.

And that would be the end of the third chapter. Now that I read it again, I think I don't like it anymore. But I didn't want to disappoint you guys.

It was a great chapter! Though I'm upset that you left it with a cliffhanger.

Chapter Four: "If that is the Dark Lord's wish -" - Part one


"Draco, Draco..." The woman said playfully, sitting next to the opened window. "Your father would be so disappointed if he knew where you are now. And my stupid sister Cissy..."

"My mother knows where I am. What’s wrong with that?" Draco said unaffectionately.

"And these filthy muggles changed you too," continued Bellatrix, as if she didn’t hear what Draco said. "That is not the way you should talk to your aunt, Draco."

"I am sorry, aunt," he added ironically. "Why did you decide to visit me here, now?"

"I would have talked to you earlier, but you were busy whispering something while you were asleep. The Dark Lord must have sent Nagini to you."

"You know about that?"

"Did you think Severus was his only favourite Death Eater? Of course he told me. But I can’t watch my Master waiting for you anymore. Are you going to come with me willingly or not?"

"I think you know the answer," said Draco coldly.

"I thought you would say that," said Bellatrix disappointed. "Imperio!" She shrieked.

A silvery light shot Draco in the chest. Now, you are going to come with me, said Bellatrix’ voice in his head. He made a first step, every single part of his body hurting. He could see Bellatrix laugh like a mad five-year old. No, he thought. I won’t come.

She stopped laughing. Draco felt like everything was back to normal. He did it. He fought the Imperius Curse. "Now, where were we?" He added, smiling sweetly to his aunt.

"The Dark Lord was right," she muttered to herself. "You really are getting stronger," she added, now looking at Draco. "The Dark Lord told me to be careful. But I have another option if you still don’t want to come with me. What do you say if I will bring here the whole muggle family? It is still Christmas, after all. Everyone must be together. I could kill the mudblood’s parents and torture her. Wouldn’t that be pleasant to watch?"

Draco felt as if she had thrown a knife through his heart. He couldn’t even think about that. His only friend being tortured... Or were they just friends?

Bellatrix looked satisfied. "Don’t tell me you actually feel something for... them. Your parents, or your father, didn’t raise you like that. You don’t -"

"Fine," Draco interrupted her all of a sudden. "I’ll come," he said, quickly scribbling something on a piece of parchment.

"Does Draco always sleep for so long?" Mrs. Granger asked affectionately. She really seemed to like him.

"Um... I don’t think so. I mean, I don’t know," Hermione said unsure. "I’ll go upstairs and see if he’s still asleep."

She got upstairs carefully and gently knocked on the door. No answer. It looked like he was still sleeping. She wanted to go back to her mother but she couldn’t stop herself. She had always wondered how Draco looked when he was sleeping, so she poked her head in and... nothing. Was he in the bathroom? The girl glanced at the opened bathroom door. He was gone.

She wanted to run downstairs to her mother, but she noticed the presence of a small piece of parchment on the bed.

Don’t go looking for me, please.

There's also a tiiiiny problem. I don't think I'll be able to post the next part in a week, because I'm in some school project with kids from Italy and I'll be busy all week. Buuuut I'll post more as soon as I can.
