Chapter 43: You don't whisper quietly

I ran back outside to Harry who was standing there waiting. "How long does it take to grab a jacket?" Harry asked.

I put my hood back up, "Sorry, by the time I went back in there it was already covered with a fine layer of dust. I would have send it to a dry-cleaner but I don't trust that owl bladder,"

"Ok, you can stop," Harry pleaded. We started walking down the road in silence. "I kinda noticed the abnormally tall redhead sprinting out of the pub,"

"Oh, did he happen to mention anything of interest?" I questioned.

"No he ran out to fast muttering 'she's right, she's right'," Harry stared at me with seriously familiar eyes.

"Well," I stopped walking as my feet brushed against the barbed-wire fence, "We females tend to be right,"

Harry just kept looking at me, "What did you say? Because I don't need you fighting my battles,"

"You don't like me winning your battles," I muttered under my breath.

"Huh?"

"Nothing, I just filled him in," Harry finally looked away, smiling. Then he gave me a quick hug.

"I totally heard you before,"

Chapter 44: Run, Run, RUN!

The two of us stumbled around in the dark stairwell of the Shrieking Shack. "This is so cool. You know, if we could see it," I remarked as I stubbed my toe on an unseen step.

"Maybe if you were patient you wouldn't hurt yourself," Harry came up behind me with his wand already charmed to give off light.

"That might help,"

"Come on," Harry pushed open a ragged door. We walked into an old room. There was a plethora of ancient furniture with layers of dust. There was a crusted over window. "Look at that," He pointed out the window. I stepped closer to it. Through the grim you could see the cozy houses of the village along with the dots of the students eagerly enjoying a day off. And most importantly you could see the grey stone of the castle. I pressed my fingers to glass.

"Do you come up here often?" I asked.

"No, the only times I've ever come here I was scared for my life,"

"Wow Harry, if feel so safe,"

"Don't be so sarcastic," Harry smiled at me, "Do you want to go back to the village?"

"Sure," I turned away from the window. We both started back to staircase. The wood creaked dangerously under us, "Harry,"

"Yeah?"

"Why did you take me here?" I asked.

"You're the one who said you wanted to come!"

I paused momentarily, "Are you hungry?"

"Yes,"

"Good," I took Harry's hand and led him down the decaying steps. "Why are we going so fast?" he whined.

"Because I would prefer to not fall through the floor,"

"Excellent point," we both began to race downstairs with the walls moaning as if to laugh at our fear.

Chapter 45: That is not my job

Harry and I walked the streets of Hogsmead still laughing our butts off at our 'exit' from the shrieking shack.

"It was not that funny," Harry protested.

"Harry," i stopped and turned to face him. "As we ran out screaming you tripped on the sign that read 'careful icy', did a summersault, and face-planted into the only spot of mud in a kilometer radius!"

"Yeah, but," Harry started to adjust my hood so that it covered my face, "as my sister aren't you supposed to care about my pain and help me up,"

"No," Ginny strode up to us, "Its her job as a sister to laugh and point and then trip you again,"

"How thoughtful," Harry remarked. He reached out for her hand and pecked her on the cheek.

"Speaking of thoughtful," she pulled a bulky brown package out of her cloak, "A present from the Weasleys,"

"Thanks!" I screamed and then peered over my shoulder, "Where is everybody?" I questioned.

"Probably heading back to the castle," Harry explained.

"Why?" I asked.

"Jess, sweetie," Ginny took a step closer, "Its practically dark out," My cheeks burned with embarrassment as sure enough the sky was a burning violet and how i had managed to keep from the cold was beyond me.

"Awww, its ok," Harry wrapped his arms around me and gave me a bear hug, "We can always illegally sneak you out of Hogwarts,"

"I'm fine," I looked down at me feet but my hands were in the way, "Ahhh present!" I yelled, shocked, "......." i looked up at Harry and Ginny, "Sorry, bird brain,"

"Ha ha ha haaa!!!" They both burst out laughing and I couldn't help but join them.

"Ohh, oohhh my god, 'bird brain' CLASSIC!"

"Ok," i wiped the tears from the corners of my eyes, "It wasn't that funny. You can stop now," His response was to look me in the eyes and laugh with a revived hysteria. I trudged further down the road, my pride wounded. They both jogged to catch up to me.

They laced their fingers through mine; Harry still hollering. Ginny leaned in close, "Sorry sweetie, its his job too,"

Thanks for reading. Its starting to dawn on me exactly how long Jess's birthday is going. Of course if we all had our way the day of our birthday would be longer than the month of August. Chapter 46: A dog, a laugh, and doing my job

As we neared the giant archways that led back to the castle Harry carefully laid the invisibility cloak over my head. I clutched the Weasley package tightly to my chest. Harry gave Professor Flitwick an appreciative nod as he waved all of us inside the doors.

Before the doors even shut I was running down the hallway to the nearest empty corridor. I turned the corner when to my surprise a group of hufflepuff kids surrounding a panting black lab.

"Who's there?" one of the called out. The girl strained her neck and looked around, frantic.

"No one is there Sofie," another girl scolded. "You're just being paranoid,"

"Aww leave her alone," an orange haired boy insisted. "If she weren't so paranoid we wouldn't have made it past Peeves,"

"Thank you," the girl, Sofie, turned on her heel and knelt next to the lab. "Now what are we going to do with you?" she asked in a sing song voice.

"I've got a plan,"

"Sure you do tucker," the other girl remarked. "Just like how you 'got' her out of the dorms,"

"Shut up Ashley!" tucker yelled.

"Make me dimwit!" She challenged.

"Both of you shut it," the orange haired guy whispered. "Both of you know what we have to do. We just have to keep her around for another month. Then Jack can come back to hogsmead and take her home," the kids looked at the smiling dog.

"Ok," they all agreed.

"Then lets go," he instructed. Their footsteps echoed down the hallway. "Are you coming Jessy?" Ashley called out.

I gasped out loud. Was this girl somehow a super witch and could see me. Could she sense my epic presence. Were my feet showing?

The boy immediately swiveled to face my direction. "Yeah I'm coming,"he answered, his suspicion was practically pouring from his ears. He jogged to catch up to his friends. The dog's tail was spazzing back and forth.

I let out the breath I'd been holding. Ok so super witch was a stretch, but what was I supposed to think. I mean Jess is a really common name, but...well....I panicked. I slid the cloak off of me and followed my footsteps back to the doors.

"Hi jess," Harry smiled, but I could see the confusion on his face. I placed my best poker face on.

"Hi harry! Did you get me anything from Hogsmead?" I strode beside him and took his hand.

"Yeah some candy...." he handed me some of the candy we got.

"fantastic I'm starving," I told him. "The great hall?" I asked.

"Sure," Harry held the fake smile up for the crowd of people lounging outside the great hall.

The best part of this whole exchange; keeping Harry waiting and harry can't ask because I didn't enter with him so how could i know he was waiting. I pushed the candy into my mouth. Yummy. I looked up at Harry. Yeah, i hope the laugh is worth the curiosity.

Chapter 47: Homework and failed relationships, not a good day.

Marianna, Ceria, and I were sprawled across the library table. Our books were everywhere, extra paper was stuffed in every space, and some how Marianna was laying on the floor.

"I think their going to kill us," Ceria announced. We had four essays due...tomorrow.

"They're going to," Marianna said.

"Hi, guys," Ron greeted. We looked up at him. The stupid, stupid idiot got our minds off of our essays. It wasn't the thing a role model should have done, but this was Ron we're talking about. He explained all about how he went and apologized to Hermione.

"She didn't take it well," Ron finished.

"Sorry bud," "What else can you do?" "I HATE ESSAYS!" the three of us said at once.

We sat there for a moment.

"ha ha ha!" We all laughed.

"Seriously, Ron, help us with your infinite wisdom," Marianna pleaded.

"I suck at school. I wish Hermione was here," Ron, somehow sadly, grabbed our homework. "I know this,"

Harry turned the corner of the bookshelf, "Words never said by Ronald Weasley,"

They both stared at each other for a moment.

"so,"

"Yeah,"

Marianna picked her head up, "Good talk,"

Chapter 48: Cat fight

I leaned back into my pillows. I could barely keep my eyes open, but I still tried to read over my charms textbook. Marianna stared up from her copy of Witch Weekly.

"Is everything alright?" she asked.

"yeah," I responded casually. It wasn't though. I was scared to go to sleep because all I could think of was my dream about Fred. Harry had told my about him when we had first met, but I still didn't want him evading my mind.

"Can you two please keep it down?" Beatrice complained. The comforter was thrown over her head, but a mess of scarlet hair still crept out from under the blankets.

Ceria waltzed into the room with her pajamas on and her ruby hair pilled onto the top of her hair. "Ah come on Beaty, play nice," she crawled into her bed.

"Yeah Beaty," Marianna teased.

"Don't call me that," Beatrice pointed her finger at Marianna, "And you," Beatrice sat up and stared at Ceria, "can never call me that," The two gingers glared at each other.

"Well, I feel tension. What about you?" I asked. The girls looked up at me. "I'm going to go to bed," I didn't really want to but I didn't want Beatrice and Ceria to go all crazy preteen on each other. "Good night,"

"Night," they muttered back.

I flicked off the lights with a snap of my wand, and the room was plunged into darkness. I grabbed a pillow and hugged it to me like a shield. I stared up at the ceiling I couldn't see and waited for my dreams to take me somewhere.

They did.

Chapter 49: It all makes sense in my mind

In my dream I could see my dormitory laid out in-front of me as if I really had just woken up. Although in place of Ceria, Marianna, Beatrice: there was a girl with hair the color of night and all limbs, a petite girl with cropped chocolate hair and freckles, and to my right sat a girl who had Weasley-fire-red hair. They all sat with perfect posture. The girls crept up the creepy scale by even blinking at the same time.

"Can I help you?" I asked them all.

"You kind of already did," they chorused.

"Ohhhhhhh, dear," I involuntarily moaned.

"Relax," they said. A smile sneaked onto their faces. Their different colored eyes seemed less frightening.

"Sure, relaxing, relaxing," my heart was pounding in my chest. "Not really helping that much, relaxing, relaxing,"

There was a noise beneath my line of sight. I crawled to the edge of my bed and peered down. Siting cross-legged on the floor was another girl, breathing in rhythm to the rest. She had just scoffed at me.

"I like you," she answered. She was taller than me, but was still pretty small. Her stark blonde hair was comfortingly familiar.

"You're Alexandra Malfoy," In all my confusion with my birthday, the ongoing train-wreck that was Ron and Hermione's relationship, and the basic emotional drain that is school. I had forgotten about the screaming girl from the Howler.

There were some thoughts I had had about her. Promises to myself that I would ask Malfoy all my questions tomorrow, but they were forgotten once my head hit my pillow.

"It's ok if you forgot about me. You didn't know me," the girls (who were actually the same person) consoled.

"What happened to you?"

"You know," they all casually leaned back with a confidence only a Malfoy could pull off, "I've come to realize some things when I was growing up, where I was you know, growing up. I learned that people are inherently good people. They all have the capability of slicing their closest friend's throat, but never without a reason that they deem valid. They all have some standards even if they're low ones,"

"Not to ruin your deep, philosophical moment, but you aren't really answering me question,"

They stared back at me.....and then blinked.....in perfect unison.......the illusion was effective.

"Anyways, what happened to me happened so that I would become someone's reason,"

"I knew that," I interrupted. They stared. They blinked. "Sorry,"

"I was educated, and on some days punished to affect someone thousands of kilometers away. Someone who loved me despite not seeing me for years. We didn't have a normal relationship. Like the one you share with Harry. There are not many reasons you and I treat our brothers like brothers. And yet we do,"

"We are the only family we have," I answered.

"My parents may not be the ones who separated Draco and I, but they allowed it to happen. So, we are the only family we have,"

"That seems kinda sad,"

"That's cause it kinda is,"

All of us sat there for a moment before I broke the silence. "This dream actually makes sense,"

The four Alexandras raised their eyes-brows.

"There is a reason I see all of you. My brain is trying to show me someone whom I've never met. So my mind came up with all the possible answers. It's pretty ingenious really,"

The girls answered again in perfect unison," You live in a world of magic and that's the answer you want to go with?"

I understand that I said I would post soon and then didn't soooooooooooooooooo.......I don't really know what else to say. SORRY i guess. But I am so excited for National History Day!!!!!! (I understand that none of you understand what I am talking about, but I'm SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
