Thanks Connie for the reply. Here's the next part.

Coralie sat down at the table, and Jaxon moved over to the counter.
“Isn’t Addy here?” Coralie asked.
Jaxon picked up a couple of apples from a basket and tossed one over to her. “Yeah,” he said, “I think she’s upstairs.”
“Thanks.” she said, catching the red apple and biting into it. She looked around at the kitchen, where just a few hours previously it had been in ruins. Her face fell slightly as she remembered the events of that night.
“You okay?” he asked. He sat down next to her and leaned on his elbows.
“Huh? Oh yeah.” she replied, sitting up straighter and avoiding his eyes.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.” Coralie said firmly.
“Don’t worry.” he said. “My dad will take care of everything.”
The girl bit silently into her apple. Footsteps were heard from the stairs, and the blonde hair of Jaxon’s little sister appeared.
“Hi Jaxon.” she said happily. Her gaze turned to Coralie, and she smiled momentarily.
“Hey Addy,” he replied, glancing between the two girls in the kitchen. Addy searched through some of the cabinets, and with her back turned, she spoke to Jaxon.
“Can you give me another lesson in flying? She asked.
“Uh, yeah, sure.” said Jaxon, a little taken off guard. He stood up. “Why don’t you go grab our brooms?” he suggested. “I’ll meet you outside.”
“Okay.” she smiled. Addison stopped her searching through the cabinets and ran back up the stairs without another word.

Coralie sat on a tree stump, the core of her apple in her hands. Jaxon stood a few feet away with his sister, who each held a broom. Addison was able to fly a few feet in the air, then she slowly drifted back to the ground.
“Good, Addy.” Jaxon said. He shot a glance at Coralie, who was looking around at the trees and woods surrounding the house. “Just keep doing that,” he added.
Addy again lifted into the air, and Jaxon walked over to the tree stump Coralie was sitting on.
“Are you positive you’re okay?” he asked again.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” she said simply.
“No you’re not.” Jaxon stated. He sat on the grass next to her and laid the broomstick across his lap.
“Look’s like fun.” she whispered, eyeing Addy as she flew in small circles.
Jaxon’s eyes narrowed slightly. “What does?”
“Flying… Going to school… Magic.” she said quietly.
“I can’t imagine the position you’re in.” he responded.
“No.” she said. “You can’t.”
“Your were always around wizards- potions, and animals, and magic-”
“Yup.”
“No one your own age-”
Coralie pushed a strand of brown hair out of her eyes. Addison landed, and was staring at someone off in the distance. Jaxon stopped talking, and too squinted at who was approaching.
“It’s my dad.” he said at last.

Hello Seneca. I'm so glad you've written another great post. I wonder what is going on with Coralie. Is she kind of afraid of where things are headed for her? Not being certain of what the next day holds for her? Does she even know yet she won't be living at her house for sure? I can't begin to understand the things that are troubling her at the moment.
Quote:
Her gaze turned to Coralie, and she smiled momentarily.
I'm so curious what's going on here.
Quote:

I have to tell you, I was afraid there till Jaxon said it was his dad.
Great post Seneca. I'll be watching for your next.

Sorry it's been a while, but here's the next part.

Both Coralie and Jaxon stood up as Mr. Smith approached.
“I wonder what happened.” whispered Jaxon to no one in particular.
“What do you mean?” asked Coralie, also in a whisper.
“He never comes home early.” he said. “Only if…”
Addy hugged her father, and when he spoke, he talked directly to Jaxon.
“Reyes offered for Coralie to stay with him and Sage for a while.” he said.
“What?” Coralie and Jaxon said in unison. The girl looked between Mr. Smith and his son.
“Yeah. It was kind of sudden, but Sage agreed. Coralie can go over whenever she’s ready.” Mr. Smith was smiling, glancing between the two teens in front of him.
Coralie’s throat got all dry. Jaxon nudged her lightly on the arm and she stole a look at him. He had half a smile across his face.
“You heard him, right?” Jaxon said softly.
Coralie nodded.
“I told you they wouldn’t send you back to your brothers.”
Coralie’s thoughts instantly went back to her two siblings. She saw Carson and Christopher’s faces in her mind, and she began the hear their angry voices yelling at her.
“Coralie?”
“What’s going to happen to them?” she whispered.
“I’m sorry?”
“Christopher and Carson.” Coralie muttered, staring at a patch of grass near her feet.
Jaxon looked at his father, where all traces of a smile had disappeared.
“The Ministry will take care of them.” said Mr. Smith. “Don’t worry about it.”
She nodded her head in understanding and glanced at Jaxon, who staring back at her. Something twinged in the back of the girl’s mind. It’s only been a couple of days and her entire life had flipped around. She didn’t have to worry about her brothers, or her dad, or anything for that matter.

Thanks for all of the replies! I love ya!

Hello Seneca. I'm really glad you was able to write more. It has to be a relief for Coralie to have a place to go to. And I too wonder what's going to become of her brothers, and father. When Mr Smith lost the smile on his face it made me afraid something isn't going as well as we are hoping. Write more when you can. You're doing a great job.

Ok, so this is in a different perspective. I hope you like it!

Christopher glanced nervously around his home while Carson dug through a pile of books in the corner. The house was a mess; chairs were toppled over in their hurry, the cabinets in the kitchen were flung open, potion ingredients littered the floor, and half of their belongings were missing from their rooms. Each boy held a satchel, and Carson was still stuffing things into it.
“We can’t stay here.” Christopher repeated for the billionth time. “We have to go. Now.”
“I know, I know.” Carson repeated in a strained tone.
“Do you have everything?”
“I think so.” Carson looked once more over the living room.
“Good. Now let’s go before anyone from the Ministry shows up.” Christopher stated hurriedly.

Ten minutes after they had left, a small pop was heard from the edge of the front yard. Mr. Smith and three other men walked cautiously towards the front door, which was hanging precariously on one of its hinges.
“I doubt they’re here.” Said a tall and aged man, stating the obvious.
Reyes shot a look at his uncle. A look that meant Should we go in?
Mr. Smith nodded. His wand was held tightly in his hand as he jumped up the porch steps and walked through the doorway.
“It looks like a tornado went through here.” Reyes said, coming up behind him.
“It does.” Said Mr. Smith absentmindedly. He looked around at the mess on the floor.
“Where do you think they are?” asked the same man that had spoken earlier.
“Run off.” said Mr. Smith. “Too cowardly to stay here.”
Reyes had left his uncle’s side to look around the house. He came across the kitchen, where pots were strewn across the floor. The staircase wasn’t far off, and after a few minutes he decided to venture upstairs.
Carson’s and Christopher’s room were almost identical. Slytherin posters and flags decorated the walls, and a few photos were in frames on nightstands and dressers. He only glanced at these, then continued his search. Mr. David’s room was no different. Like his sons, he had a Slytherin quidditch flag plastered to the far wall. The bed looked like it hand’t been slept in for days, and half of the clothes were hanging out of the dresser’s drawers.
He descended the steps and came across Mr. Smith.
“Anything?” he asked quietly.
“No.” replied Reyes. “You can go look though. I might have missed something.”
He nodded solemnly then went up the stairs as he continued to look around downstairs. Finally, he came across the door to the basement.
“Lumos.” Even though it was day out, he couldn’t see two feet down the stairs in front of him. He carefully descended the stone steps.
He’d come across Coralie’s room, which looked the same as it always had. The small bed was in the corner, and the table that served as a dresser was in the same spot; A mirror was leaning against the wall and a hairbrush laid on it’s side on the table. Other than those few items, the bedroom was empty.
“Such a shame, huh?” asked the old man as he came up behind Reyes. Together their light made a wide circle of yellow, causing shadows in all the nooks and crannies, making the room look more dismal than it usually did.
“I met her too.” Said Reyes. “She’s so nice. No one should go through what she had to. Squib or wizard.”
A subtle nod passed over the man’s face.
“We should get back to the Ministry.” he said at last. “And tell them that they’re not here.”

As usual, leave your replies!

Hey Seneca. Good to have another post. And I think you did very well with this perspective. It's like watching a drama detective show on TV. So, now the brothers are on the run. I wonder where they'll go, and what they'll do.
Quote:

It is sad she had to live that way. Her life will be better now though. Still, I'm thinking it can't be easy for her. She has so much learning to do. I hope she's able to catch up ok.
Great post Seneca. I'll be watching for your next.

Thanks Connie! Here's the next part.

“They weren’t there?” Jaxon asked, astonished.
“We looked, but there’s no trace of where they disappeared to.” Reyes supplied. He glanced in Coralie’s general direction, where she sat on the couch in the living room next door.
“Now what?” Jaxon continued, a little loudly.
“Keep your voice down.” Reyes hissed. “She has enough on her mind already.”
“I know, but-”
“Listen,” Reyes whispered, “your father and I have everything under control. We’ll find them.”
“But Coralie-”
“She’ll be fine.” he assured him. “Just don’t tell her for now. Take her back to the house, get her things, and apparate to my house. Sage will be waiting.”
“But,”
“Go.”
With that, Reyes walked through the front door and dissaparated on the porch. Jaxon sighed then went into the living room, where Coralie was looking at a couple of photos on the coffee table.
“Is everything all right?” she asked, looking up when he approached.
“Yeah, it’s fine.” he said, “Reyes wants me to take you to get your things.”
She nodded slightly and stood up.
Instead of apparating, the two walked down the dirt road, back to her house. Coralie stared at her feet almost the whole time, and Jaxon was looking around at the woods, almost expecting Christopher or Carson to attack.
“Are you alright?” she questioned.
“Huh? Yeah I’m fine.” he returned.
They slipped through the front door, which was still hanging half open. Coralie’s mouth opened, then closed, at the wreckage in the house, but she decided not to say anything.
She opened the door to the basement and walked down the first few steps.
“How can you see?” Jaxon asked, watching her descending shadow.
“I know where I’m going.” came her reply.
He shrugged, then mumbled “Lumos.”
Coralie turned around to look back up the stairs, at Jaxon’s silhouette standing at the top, then returned to blindly searching through the basement.
Jaxon looked around at few items in the room. He saw the bed, old and rusty in the corner, and the table, sitting against the wall.
“I don’t have much,” Coralie said, following the boy’s gaze around the basement.
He nodded, then said, “What do you need?”
She picked up the lone hairbrush, and some of the dresses folded at the end of her bed.
“That’s it?”
“Yeah.”
“Here.” Jaxon waved his wand, and a small satchel appeared in the air. Coralie hesitated before picking it up and stuffing her things into it.
“Now to Reyes and Sage’s.” he said, leading her back up the stairs.

Hey Seneca.
Quote:

That was just fine.
I'm wondering if her brothers are going to be upstairs waiting for them. All though they were in quite a hurry to get away from there. Still I hope they make it to Reyes house safely.

I'm also wondering what Jaxon was wanting to ask, and why wouldn't Reyes let him ask. It was probably important.

Great job Seneca. I'll be watching for your next.

Thanks for the comment Connie! Haha, I don't know, we'll see.

Within ten minutes, Coralie and Jaxon were standing on the edge of a lush, green yard. A dirt and gravel pathway led to a small cottage near the back of the property, which was hiding behind some trees and bushes. A grayish column of smoke was coming from the chimney.
“It’s so nice.” Coralie commented. She adjusted her grip on the satchel in her right hand, and with her left, she pushed a strand of brown behind her ear. Jaxon glanced sideways at the girl, watching her expression.
“Come on, then.” he said, smiling. Jaxon grabbed her hand, pulling her along the path and up to the small house.
He knocked on the front door, and after a few minutes, it finally opened. A young witch stood in the doorway. She wiped her hands on the apron around her waist, then said “Hi Jaxon.”
“Hey Sage.” he replied. “Where’s Reyes?”
The witch looked back into the house, curly brown hair bouncing off her shoulders.
“He’s here.” She smiled. Sage pushed the door open further, and let the two enter.
“You,” She said to the girl, “Must be Coralie.”
She nodded and Sage took her hand. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“You too.” she said quietly.
Jaxon had left her side, to find Reyes, who had apparently been in the family room, reading. He reappeared moments later with the man by his side.
“How are you Coralie?” Reyes asked pleasantly.
“Ok.” she replied.
Sage took the satchel from her. “Will you go check on the stove for me?” she said to her husband. “I want to show Coralie around.”
“Of course.” he said. “Jaxon are you staying for dinner?”
The teenager looked at Coralie, and she nodded slightly, maybe even desperately.
“Yes.” he replied, trying to hide the edge of a smile.
Sage smiled again. Reyes and Jaxon disappeared into the kitchen, already deep in conversation.
Coralie looked at the witch expectantly, waiting to see what she would do.
“This way.” she said finally, gesturing towards a small hallway.
She showed her Reyes and her’s bedroom, which consisted of a large bed, two nightstands, a dresser and a mirror. The walls were painted a light shade of brown, and the wood floor was sparkling.
“Your room will be here.” Sage said, opening a door across the hallway. “It’s not big, but it’s cozy.”
The oak door belonged to a small guest bedroom. The walls were a white-grey and all of the furniture had a matching wrought iron them to it. Sage placed the satchel down on the dark purple bedspread.
“The bathroom’s right next door. There are towels you can use, just hang them up when you’re done. If you need anything don’t be afraid to shout.” With that, Sage left her by herself.
Coralie ran her hand over the footboard of the bed. Glancing around, she noticed that the room was filled with all sorts of things; Family pictures hung on the walls and sat on the dresser. A couple of books were placed on the nightstand, along with a small lamp, a glass for water, and a vase of flowers. The place had a homey feel to it. And Coralie liked that.

While Reyes turned down the stove, Jaxon began rambling on about the day’s events.
“What’s going to happen?” he asked. “Are you going to search for Christopher and Carson?”
“You asked me this already.” Reyes said. He shook his black-brown hair out of his eyes as he spoke. “Of course. We aren’t just going to let this go.”
“Do you think she’ll be alright here?” he spoke more quietly.
Reyes looked up from the potatoes in the pot on the stove.
“She’ll be fine here.” he said, kind of quizzically.
“With the sudden change?”
“She’ll be fine.” he repeated, a peal of laughter echoing in his voice.

Hmmmm. Can I leave it at that??

So here's the next little part!!! And thanks guys for your comments!!! I luffers yous

Coralie stepped out of the bathtub. Before wrapping a towel around her body, she turned in the mirror, examining her back. Some of the bruises had begun to go away, now a yellowish brown than a purple. She still had scars though, those would never go away. Her body looked fine other than that. She looked better than she had in… well, ever. Coralie threw her old dark purple dress over her head, which dropped to about midway over her shins.
I need a new dress, she thought. She saw the light blue dress Jaxon had given her a couple of days ago. So much has changed since then. In just a few days she was away from her father, away from her brothers. She had a new home, and it was here. Or at least temporarily.
“Coralie?” There was a slight knock and Jaxon’s voice floated through the door. “Dinner’s ready.” he said.
“I’ll be right out,” she called back gently and she heard his retreating footsteps soon after.
The girl picked up the locket she had placed next to the sink. Instead of putting it back on, she placed in her pocket; She’d worry about her mother later.
She ran her fingers through her brown curls, which were still slightly wet. When she was content with her image, she finally picked up her clothes and went back into her room.
She was surprised to see Jaxon standing there. He was fingering through a small leather bound journal: Coralie’s journal.
“What are you doing?” she asked quickly, before she could even stop herself.
Startled, the boy dropped the book, which made a thud as it hit the bed.
“I-I’m sorry.” he stuttered, flushing slightly.
Wordlessly, Coralie put her dirty clothes in a small pile next to the dresser. She had put her things away earlier, all of which had only taken up two drawers.
“It’s fine.” she said at last. She picked up the journal and stuffed it into one of the drawers.
Jaxon cleared his throat, somewhat uncomfortably. “Reyes and I were talking in the kitchen. And… and my dad has a file on your dad. He found something… not right.”
The squib turned around, searching his face. “What?” she asked.
He hesitated. “Coralie, how did your mother die?”

Hmmmm. How was that?

Hey Seneca. My goodness! I can't believe Jaxon was into her journal! I don't know why, but, I had the impression that she couldn't read. Was she taught at home? This next bit is my favorite part of this post, although you did very good with the rest of it also.

Thanks Connie! Here's the next part!

“My mother?” Coralie asked, startled. “Why do you need to know about my mother?”
“I was just wondering how the files could be incomplete.” said Jaxon. He took a step closer to the girl when she didn’t reply. “You do know how she died, right?
Slowly, she nodded. “Of course I do.” she whispered. Coralie wasn’t looking at him anymore. She was staring at a point on the floor next to the bed.
“Can you please tell me?” He asked. “Coralie?”
Tears had welled up in her eyes, and one was already streaming past her cheek.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” she was finally able to say. “Not now.”
“Dinner’s ready.” Sage said, appearing in the doorway. “It’s getting cold.”
“We’ll be right there.” Jaxon said. He was still watching Coralie, who hadn't moved.
Sage glanced between the two, then with a shrug, she walked back down the hallway to the kitchen.
“I’m sorry.” Jaxon said when she was out of earshot. He moved to stand right in front of her. “You can tell me when you want to.” He wiped her cheek with the back of his hand. “Come and get something to eat.”
As he was leaving Coralie finally spoke up. “Jaxon?”
He turned around in the doorway, one hand paused on the frame.
“Thank you.” she said. “For everything.”
Half a smile spread over his face before he finally left.
Coralie waited. She couldn’t tell him how her mom died, she just couldn’t. But she couldn’t keep this secret either. She desperately wiped her face and checked herself in the mirror. Her cheeks were flushed a pink and her eyes were slightly red. She pulled the necklace out of her pocket and without a second thought she stuffed it in the drawer with the journal.

“So Coralie, Jaxon told me you like to read.” Reyes said, matter of factly.
The four of them were sitting at the old wooden table in the kitchen. A plate of pork and baked potatoes sat in the middle on a place mat. Steam floated up to the ceiling, and the whole room had the aroma of different spices.
The girl’s eyes flickered over to Jaxon, who was staring innocently at his cut-up baked potato.
“Yeah, a little.”
“How’d you learn?”
Coralie hesitated. “I had to teach myself.” she said at last. “I’m not too good, but I know some of the basics.”
“I like to read.” piped up Sage. “I have a few things that might interest you. I could help you as well, if you need it.”
“Thanks.” said Coralie. “I’d really like that.”
The room got quiet for a few minutes.
“So Jaxon, are you sure your family won’t miss you tonight?” Reyes glanced up from his pork.
“Nah. They’ll understand.” said Jaxon. “Dad’s still busy at the Ministry, and mum’s probably just making dinner for her and Addy.”
“Oh, Addy. How is she?” Asked Sage, before more silence filled the air.
“She’s good. She’s grown since you last saw her.”
“And your mother?” she continued.
“She’s fine as well.”
“Your family will have to come for dinner sometime soon.”
“Definitely.” Jaxon said.
“I take it we’ll be seeing you more often.” Reyes stated casually.
“Huh?”
He flicked his eyes between him and Coralie.
“Yeah.” He said, flushing a slight pink. Coralie pushed a strand of curly brown hair behind her ear uncomfortably. “I guess you will.”

So what do ya think?

Hey Seneca. I want to tell you first thing that I love this chapter! Very good job writing. I really can't tell you what was my favorite part. The whole thing was very good. I am very curious about her mom's death. I love the way you wrote this.

It says a lot, but so much left for us to wonder about.
Thank you for putting in the part about her teaching herself to read. That was important and I think it says a lot for her character. I'm very anxious to read more. I'll be watching for your next.

Here the next little part!

After dinner, Coralie helped Sage clean up the dishes. Reyes had disappeared into the living to the read the Daily Prophet, something which he apparently always did after dinner. She was in the middle of the drying off a pot when she heard someone behind her.
“I really should go.” Jaxon said. He scratched the back of his head uncomfortably.
“Oh, ok.” she replied quietly. She put the pot away in the cabinet Sage pointed to.
“I guess I’ll see you soon?”
“Yeah.” She said, as Sage handed her another clean dish.
“Hey Jaxon!”
Reyes appeared in the doorway, the Daily Prophet folded in his right hand.
“I have off tomorrow. The shed out back needs some cleaning out. I thinks there’s some old quidditch things out there in some boxes. You wanna help me organize it?”
“Yeah, of course.” He replied, a smile spreading across his face.
“Great. Just come by anytime tomorrow.”
“Ok. Well I better get home. My parents will be wanting me.”
“Good night, Jaxon.” Sage and Reyes said at once.
“‘Night.” Coralie chirped.
He threw them a three fingered wave before disappearing down the hall and out the front door.
Reyes tossed the newspaper on the table then moved over to his wife and wrapped his arms around her waist.
“Um, Reyes, honey, didn’t you just clean out the shed a couple of weeks ago?”
“Uh-huh.” he mumbled. “I thought it’d give him a reason to come back tomorrow.”
He shot a smirk at Coralie, who squirmed under his gaze.
“Just leave the poor girl alone.” Sage said. She flipped her hair behind her shoulders.
“I’m just saying.”
“If you don’t need me anymore, I think I’m going to go to bed.” Said Coralie suddenly, “I’m pretty tired.”
“Yeah, go ahead.” Sage took the plate from her.
Coralie glanced at the newspaper sitting on the table. “Can I borrow this?” she asked.
“Go ahead.” Said Reyes, glancing at the front page.
“Thanks.”
“‘Night, Coralie!” they shouted after her.

The girl closed the door to her new bedroom. She threw on an old dress then jumped under the covers. The newspaper was sitting at end of her bed, and with a sigh she kicked it from under the quilt. It fluttered to the ground, spewing pages in different directions.
She stared at the dresser for a few minutes, thinking. Her journal was in the top drawer, as was her necklace. Finally, she turned off the light and curled up in the bed.

How was that?

Ooooh New readers! I love new readers. Thanks for reading!!
So here's the next part. It's short and I'll try to update later.

Coralie woke up early the next morning. She sat up, looking around her bedroom. An orangish glow was seeping through the curtains. She kicked off the covers and jumped up, then moved over to the window to push them aside. The sun was raising in the sky, and according to the clock on the wall, it was a little past seven. Coralie spotted the Daily Prophet on the ground. She hastily picked it up and folded it into a pile and put in on top of the dresser. She changed into the dress she had put on yesterday and brushed her hair before leaving the bedroom.
The small house seemed quiet, but in the kitchen both Sage and Reyes were already up.
“Oh, we didn’t wake you, did we?” asked Sage when she saw the girl. Her brown hair was pulled into two braids, and she wore a blue-grey dress, most likely the nightgown she had worn to bed.
“No.” Coralie replied.
Reyes smiled up at her from the table. His bathrobe was tied tightly around his waist and a white t-shirt was visible underneath it.
“Is eggs ok with you?” continued Sage.
“Yeah,” she said.
“Here, sit.” Reyes pushed a chair aside and gestured for her to sit down.
“Are you sure? You don’t want any help?”
“No I’m fine.” Sage stepped away from the stove. A pan was on one of the burners and a spatula was magically flipping the eggs over.
“Oh.” Coralie eyed the eggs and spatula before taking the seat next to Reyes.
“Did you sleep ok?” He asked after a minute.
She nodded, staring at the wood grains in the table.
“That’s good.” he said.
Sage flicked her wand, and dishes and glasses flew out of the cabinet and placed themselves in front of the three chairs. She picked up some forks and knives from and drawer and placed them next to the white plates.
“Reyes, can you grab that?” She waved her hand at a pitcher of orange juice on the counter.
“Of course.” he said, standing up.
Sage picked up the pan of eggs and and dumped some on each of the plates.
“Do you want some?” asked the man. He held out the pitcher to her.
“Yes, please.” She poured some orange juice then handed it back to Reyes.
Sage sat down in the chair next to her husband. “So you better show Coralie where the shed is seeing that Jaxon thinks you’re cleaning it out today.”
The man paused between a mouthful of eggs. “Oh yeah. I’ll show her after we eat.”
“Why don’t you get rid of some of your quidditch things?” She continued. “Give it to Jaxon, I think he would use it more than you.”
“But those are from when I was at Hogwarts!” he defended.
“Sweetie, you’re not at Hogwarts anymore.” Sage patted the back of his hand.
Reyes muttered something inaudibly, then stuffed more eggs into his mouth. Sage smirked at Coralie, who smiled slightly in return.

So what do you think?

Hey Seneca. I sure do love your style. You write so clearly, yet it seems like you are hiding something. I do love a good mystery. I was wondering why she asked for the Profit and didn't even look at it. Was it to give the appearance that she was adapting and fitting in more than what she really is? And I'm so curious about the journal and necklace. I can't wait to read more of what you have on your mind. Very nice writing Seneca.
