Behind the Groundskeeper's Hut, right at the edge of the Forbidden Forest towers an igloo. A spell keeps it from melting during the warmer seasons and despite some protest from the Groundkeeper’s side, the students are welcome to enter. This is where Mr. Baldvinsson likes to retreat when the Scottish summer gets too warm or when he needs to reminisce of his many years as a ranger on Svalbard.
Since the Igloo is completely made of ice, inside and out, you’ll notice it’s a clever idea to borrow one of the fur coats provided by Mr. Baldvinsson. Please leave the coat (undamaged, thank you) by the entrance for the next student to use.
Inside the Igloo are several ice statues in the shape of both magical and non-magical creatures that Mr. Baldvinsson found an interest in back home. A large sofa with a warming fur throw is located at one side of the room where you may take a seat and flip through one of the books on how to lure a polar bear, using snow patterns to track down a wolf pack or the quickest way to locate a hot spring. In the evening, a beautiful display of the northern lights is shown with green and blue lights dancing across the icy ceiling.
Any use of heatening charms such as Chaudensis or any fire spells are strictly forbidden, for obvious reasons. Please make sure to leave the Igloo as you found it and don’t let the northern lights make you forget the time for curfew. Mmhm.

The Igloo was simply a brilliant idea in Kay’s opinion. She hadn’t had the chance to explore it thus far and had found the time to do so now. She took one of the coats and shrugged it on before going further in. Feeling much more prepared for the cold ahead, she began her exploration. Whatever could Baldvinsson have in here to hold the visitors’ interest?
Kay got the answer a few steps into the igloo.
The ice statues simply mesmerise her. The woman always adored art work like these, they were just wonderful. There were a few shapes that she recognised liked the polar bear. She thought it was the best of all that was there. True, she hadn’t observed all the other sculptures as yet but she was going to be a little biased here. “I can’t be admiring you the entire day,’’ Kay said, laughter in her voice. “I’d better get back to exploring.’’
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

And so… onto the next sculpture she went!
Not having any classes at the moment and having matches his exams schedules with his classes and free time, the Ravenclaw decided to walk on the grounds to get out of the common room for a breath of fresh air.
So far, the grounds hadn't looked that different. He had expected it to be judging by how ...uhm... eccentric the new Groundskeeper had been at the feast. Mason wondered if he should pay a visit and say hello when something white caught the corner of his eye. He turned and looked in slight surprise at the ice igloo.
Curious, the Ravenclaw entered the igloo, looking at the creatures art work that was inside. It was, in one word, beautiful. He walked around an ice sculpture before going to the next one and realised he was not alone. The figure was blurred behind another ice sculpture so he looked around it to see who it was.
"Oh! Hey Professor Stewart" he greeted. "These are cool right?" pun totally intended.

And so Kay went on to further explore as she had decided. She was highly impressed with each sculpture she came across. At present, she had paused before one not far down from the polar bear. It was a fox but was it just a plain fox? "Perhaps an arctic fox,'' she mused after a while. These were not just regular animals; they were snow animals no doubt from Haraldur's home country.
Kay hugged herself. It was cold but yet somehow it was comforting being in here. She could get used to this place. She suddenly heard footsteps behind her and the voice of Mason Winslow. "Hello yourself, Mr Winslow! Oh, yes. I agree in more ways than one.'' She laughed her soft laugh, having caught onto Mason's little joke. "These sculpture's are really something. I wonder if Mr Baldvisson did them on his own.'' If so, he was very talented. "How have you been, Mr Winslow? Ready to make your seventh year a very memorable one?''

Mason smiled back. It wasn’t every day that someone appreciated puns. No matter how bad they were. He didn’t use them often but when he saw a chance , he took it. He moved around the next ice sculpture which looked like a kind of fox. Again, he wondered if the Groundskeeper had made them himself or not. Even with the help of magic it was still impressive and he hoped no one stupid enough would melt them.
“I agree, they are simply stunning” he added after he had examined the sculpture and turned to the Professor. “I’ve been well, thanks for asking” he nodded. “And i guess i am. I made a whole schedule over the summer to help me with my N.E.W.T studies and i matched them with my classes” Which hours he would study. Which hours he would take a break etc etc. “And it is my goal to get atleast an A on my exam in Muggle Studies” It was a personal goal, since he had failed his O.W.L , he couldn’t even remember if he had gotten a Poor or a Dreadful. What he did know was that he wanted to forget that grade.
“But how have you been , professor? Busy with setting up the Tournament?” or would she be a spectator? And no, he wasn’t trying to look for clues. In other words, he was.
Zarina made her way to the grounds when a peculiar object caught her eye. She noticed that there was an igloo. An igloo in the middle of september? It wasn't even that cold yet. Wait a minute Carraro. There were spells to keep it cool like duh. She shrugged and went over to it. She felt how cool it was already just being outside of it. She found a coat the Professor supplied them and she wore it over her robes. She felt warmer and then went inside and was in awe. This was SO FREAKEN COOL. Like literally and figuratively. She saw there were books to track down a wolf pack. She picked it up and dived in. This subject she was most interested in.

"DUUUUUDE!" Brent exclaimed. No. He wasn't talking to himself. He was just so surprised at the IGLOO in the middle of Hogwarts, that he couldn't help but express that out loud. He stepped closer to get a better look. Wasn't this the wrong environment for an IGLOO? Was this like, a trap or something? It couldn't be. The groundskeeper was new, but surely he would have seen this and gotten rid of it by now had it been up to no good.
He entered the igloo, still in disbelief. DUDE, it was freezing in here! There were fur coats in here, so somebody must have realized students would come inside. Brent took one down and wrapped it around him. He felt like an Eskimo, but it was good. He didn't really see anybody else in here right now anyway. There was so much to see in here! He could really get used to hanging out in here! What was that warming spell again?

Skylar had seen it from a distance, but being able to go inside was definitely an experience she would HAVE to brag about to Noah. He might be enjoying the sands of Hawaii, but she got to experience frigid temperatures of an igloo. Following close enough behind Brent to hear his exclamation, she smiled in amusement. But only for a brief moment, before retreating to her quiet thoughts of replaying the events of the feast.
Events that she wished not to repeat .... ever.
Stepping inside, despite the long sleeves of her school robes, it didn't take a genius to figure out that it was COLD in here. Oh look, there were fur coats, as if the groundskeeper knew students would venture inside. "Well, I didn't expect it to be this cold in here?" Taking a coat, she wrapped it around herself. "Are those ... ice sculptures??" Wide eyed, the fourth year curiously approached them for a better look.

Xavvie had decided to rock the space buns on her journey through the grounds today. She'd wandered about, casually observing both the old and new sights. Usually, things changed every year and that was one of the things she liked most about attending Hogwarts, so she'd made it a habit to check out the grounds thoroughly at the beginning of every term.
Then, she came across an igloo. An. Igloo. Whaaaat.
She wasn't exactly surprised to see this sort of thing here at school, magic was good for a great many things, after all. However, she wasn't sure if maybe it was quite a real igloo or not. Curious, she reached out her hand and pressed it against the side of the igloo, sliding her fingers across the surface and grinning while they burned with the cold. This was probably her favorite place so far! Obviously the groundskeeper was very smart because he'd even left lovely coats out, she assumed, that people could wear while inside. After all, she hadn't dragged her winter coat out with her today. Xavieria slipped into one but avoided the hood so as to not mess up her hair, then she went inside.

Of all things to turn up at Hogwarts, an igloo. That was cool... no pun intended. Kirk didn't even step inside to note the sharp change in temperature before taking one of the fur coats to put on. He felt huge but nice and warm with it on after stepping inside.
"Whoa," Kirk blurted out at the pristine sculptures. Was that an iced hippogriff over there? Really cool. He couldn't help trying to touch it letting the ice feel caress his finger tips. He wondered what else could be around here.

Zarina was staring at the coolness of the igloo. She thought she was by herself till she heard a voice that made her jump. She went into action and almost punched the guy behind her. "Geez don't creep up on people like that. I almost punched you.." Good thing she didn't. She didn't wanna deal with the awkwardness that went with it afterwards.

Well, this is rather strange.
--- But another lovely addition to the grounds, really. Etta preferred the hot springs for obvious reasons but it would be fun to explore the igloo too. She picked a coat from near the entrance, put it on before she walked inside, looking at her surroundings in wonder. Yes.. interesting, to say the least.
"That looks.. cool, doesn't it?" Etta grinned at her fellow classmate as she studied the hippogriff with an amused expression on her face.

He had heard rumors but had not actually seen it for himself yet, his second year fantasies taking him elsewhere and keeping him sufficiently distracted.
At least until lunch time that is.
With a clear schedule - because that History of Magic essay could wait - Derf made his way out to the grounds in search of this igloo he had heard his housemates speaking of. Finding it at a bit of a distance (much approval of the location!) Derf quickened his pace and sprinted the rest of the way, bolting inside and failing to notice that Xavvie was present.
"Woooow," he whispered, wonder clearly reflected in his bright blue eyes as he spun in place to take everything in. "NEAT!" Wait...was this enchanted ice? Like...HOW did this ice come here? Was it conjured ice? Or like...did the groundskeeper lug on this ice out here from the big freezer places in the castle and then just charm it to stay frozen. So many questions were on the tip of Derf tongue - which was actually hanging out of his mouth right now like an eager crup...which also somewhat hanging out due to his mild exhaustion from sprinting and needing some water.
WATER! Ice was just frozen water. He could just lick the wall to re-hydrate!
.....................UH OH.
"AAAAAALP....AAAAAAAAAAAALP!"

Brent was loving this igloo. He had never seen one live and in person, and everything about it, other than the temperature, was really cool. If he came to visit again, which he probably would, he would bring his own jacket. He wasn't too fond of the fashion he was currently sporting. He was just about to look at the other things the igloo had to offer, when he heard an all too familiar voice behind him.
"Skylar," he said with a grin. He was about to get her a coat, when she did that very thing herself. He turned to look at the ice sculptures. "Yeah! Aren't the amazing?" The groundskeeper must have some kind of talent! "So how's things going so far?" This was pretty much the first time they'd gotten the chance to actually talk to each other since the school year had started. "Did you hear we're already down ten points? Do you know what happened?"
Brent gestured for her to follow him as he made his way closer to the ice sculptures. "Oh, look...a couch," he said. Dude...this was FREAKING AWESOME. He scooted over to make room for her on the couch, too, if she wanted.

Kay hugged herself again. The sweater did help but in the cold weather, hugging herself was more of a habit. She nodded then was smiling upon hearing Mason’s commitment to his NEWTs. “You’re welcome! And that’s wonderful! Should you put a little more work into Muggle Studies, you’ll achieve your goals. Needless to say this will go for the other subjects. You’re always more than welcome to drop by anytime at my office if you have questions.’’ She didn’t mind putting in extra work if it meant that it would help her kiddos to pass their exams.
“I’ve been wonderful. The summer holidays were rather relaxing, which was a good thing given the action we had last term. I’m quite ready for this one, however.’’ Kay was quite certain all the kiddos were glad for the term to be over and she couldn’t have blamed them. Eyes twinkling, she gazed at Mason. “There’s a strong possibility that I’ve been. Are you looking for a few hints, Mr Winslow?’’ Was she being condescending towards him? Not at all! Kay was simply teasing him slightly.
But she was sure that whoever the Hogwarts champions were, they would easily figure out the clues for each task.

An igloo at Hogwarts? Woah. This was incredible. Every year, the grounds seemed to get more and more interesting. It was a little warmer today than other days in September had been so Olivia thought venturing into the igloo would be a rather wise idea. Unfortunately heating spells were not allowed. She grabbed a coat, one of many that the Groundskeeper had left for the students, and slipped it on. It was a little itchy and a bit too large on her but it was definetly nice and warm.
Alright. Coat on, right? It was time to explore! She paused briefly outside of the igloo and wondered what could be inside.

Hmm, perhaps following the older snake out here wasn't the best idea, because he seemed rather startled at first to see her. Even if he did follow it up with a grin, but she kind of wanted to speak to him about what happened at the feast, before he heard some horrible rumor as they liked to spread from someone else.
She nodded though when he agreed about the ice sculptures, as she ran her fingers over the smooth carvings, despite knowing the cold of it. She wanted to feel it, touch it. "Wouldn't it be cool to have a class in ice sculpting?" She was pretty sure Hattie would be all over that class, assuming she wasn't with Luca which it seemed like she was ninety percent of the time these days. So much for heartbreak. Honestly, sometimes she didn't understand her best friend.
Turning around from feeling the ice sculpture, she was about to answer about how things were going, when her heart sank at the mention of the ten point loss. Averting her eyes from him, she bit her lower lip as she sat down at the other end of the couch despite wanting to be closer. "Uh, that's kind of why I was hoping to run into you. The points loss was my fault." Yea, he probably wasn't going to want to talk to her again. Wringing her hands together nervously, she glanced up to meet his gaze finally. "I don't know what came over me, but I think maybe I wanted to see who our new house head was ... and it just had to happen before the headmistress gave her speech. And well, next thing I knew, instead of finding out who our new house head was, I was in front of the Healer. And I basically told him he smelled good. And I don't even know what amortentia smells like, but ......" she trailed off, pulling her knees up to her face to hide it. Skylar Diggory, official idiot of 2092-2093.

Brent was really happy to see Skylar, but being a guy, he decided to play it a little bit cool. He still didn't know how she felt about him, and he didn't want to dive on in and make a fool out of himself. She was at least hanging out with him, which had to be a good thing. He looked back over toward the ice sculptures and nodded. "Yeah, it would. I'm actually pretty excited to see them," he said. He had always liked the extreme winter, and even though he wouldn't want to live in a super cold place, he was still pretty interested in that kind of thing.
He saw a cool one he really like, and he almost gave his trademark, 'Duuuude' about it, but he was trying to remember that Skylar was no dude. He was still looking at the ice sculptures, when he heard her say she had been wanting to talk about that ten point loss. Turning around, he looked at her and nodded. "Yeah? Okay, well you have my attention," he said. Really, she did. Maybe she had the inside scoop on something cool and exciting that had gone down!
As she told her story, he was pretty sure his facial expression changed three or four different times. "Whooooa. That sounds pretty cool! I mean, I hate that you lost the points and all, but everybody's got to have a little fun every now and then," he said. Even he had been seeking out an opportunity to do at least one really wild and exciting thing during his time here. "So wait. Does this mean you think the Healer's hot?"
After spotting the new white dome from one of the castle windows, it hadn't been long until Sam had decided to investigate. She'd briefly wondered if the Groundskeeper had erected a miniature Millennium Dome, but that didn't really seem to be his thing. So, of course, she'd enrolled her bestie's help to investigate.
"I heard someone say it's an igloo," she said, pulling the Gryffindor down the path. "But that can't be right, can it? It's not that cold here. Not yet."

The blonde refrained from grumbling as her best friend PULLED her down the path. Merlin... she was rather... exuberant today, wasn't she?!
Granted, Dora has spotted the igloo also... several other things. But like... she had been too caught up in things. Casper type things. But now that she was down on the grounds she couldn't help but laugh. "Magic, Sam. Charms and such. Atmospheric stuff or just a cooling charm of some sort. I swear, you forget that you're a witch sometimes, " she said with a giggle.
Dora should be glad she wasn't skipping, really. Because Sam was feeling super energetic today, despite finishing up her history of magic essay far too late the previous evening. Probably just the relief of having finished the thing.
Magic. Of course it was. "But I can barely sustain a charm for a lesson. How much energy and focus must it take to keep this thing cool enough?"

Once inside, Xavvie extended her curiosity to everything else. Carefully, she touched one of the statues, enjoying the feel of the slippery ice but also taking care not to break anything. She wasn't exactly confident that she could fix what she might break and so she wasn't really interested in testing that skill. It was a good thing that she had moved away just then because she heard a distressed sort of muffled cry for help. Had someone else knocked over a statue and was now trapped underneath it? How had that happened and she hadn't heard a thing?
Xavvie followed the sound and found Derf with his tongue stuck to the ice. Aha. "That was not a smart idea." Just saying. Her little brother knew better than to lick ice. Although, Xavvie wasn't quite sure how to fix it? "Maybe you should just... rip it off? Like a bandage?"
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

Having absolutely no difficulty with the cold inside of the igloo as he was used to far worse when he had been a Durmstrang student, Mason wondered if others would found it cold inside. Probably. "I'll keep that in mind" he smiled as he turned his attention away from the next ice sculpture and to the Professor again. Though he was just saying these words to be polite. He didn't like asking for help unless it was absolutely necessary. Like when Dora had cursed his fingers and he had to get help from the Healer because he couldn't hold his wand.
"Ah yes, last term was rather chaotic wasn't it?" he said with a sigh. He still couldn't believe he hadn't seen the monster with his own eyes.... Probably should not mention that part out loud... "At least almost everyone got out of the portal he said.
"Apart from the tournament, i'm really curious about the Ilvermorny students" he said. "I wonder how much they are different from us or not cause when i came here from Durmstrang it was a drastic change" not only weather wise but classes as well.
"It was that obvious wasn't it?" he laughed, not denying that he was searching for clues. Who could blame him though. He bet everyone wanted to get some more information about the tournament.
