"Well you can help yourself. It's on the tray." Annie blinked long and slow at him and adjusted her seat, giving the quill on her desk a little flick so it would start writing again.

Oh how kind of him to compliment her. Clearly Dash had some ulterior motives here, and yep, there they were. Sneaking in an insult as always. "Hmm," was all she said at first, her eyes trailing to the folder on the desk, "Same to you, I suppose. You look presentable today."

Today. Heh. The redhead flicked open the folder and read it in all of two seconds, then slowwwwly lowered it back to the desk. She wore an expression of paranoia for one brief second, mostly because the paper inside the folder reminded her of a hit list, and then her expression returned to one of neutrality.

"And this is....?" Santa's naughty list? Do go on.

Kaos.Doodles 12-22-2012 05:09 AM

Well what was the point of her asking if she was too lazy to pour it, and then hand it to him? What a rude host interviewer. Pouring his own tea into a cup, Dash took a few sips before putting his focus back on the task at hand.

"Oh so kind of you to say that. You know Annie, I just don't know what I would do with myself if you hadn't noticed." There was only a very small hint of sarcasm, but she had basically asked for it.

He watched, taking another sip of the tea as the folder was opened. What a lovely face there Miss Headmistress. Lovely in deed. "It is a list of things that as Deputy I would help to change in this castle." Because things weren't getting better, and change was needed. And quick. "The two names are the two staff in the castle that in my opinion need to be fired." He paused. Thinking about it for a second. " However, a re-training might be able to salvage one of them." The second one. Not the first.

"As for the rest, they are the main areas in which I believe focus should be diverted to first, based on the strange occurrences within the castle in the last fifteen years or so." It was simply really. Dash leaned back in the chair, making himself comfortable.

Did she need him to further explain?

BanaBatGirl 12-22-2012 05:34 AM

"I can think of many things you'd be able to do with yourself, Dash, with or without the presence of a woman." She allowed a slow smirk to cross her features before picking up her cat.

She'd had enough tea time today. Now was Gingersnapple time, and the thick, fluffy cat with a squashed face eyed Dash up suspiciously from his perch on Annie's lap.

"Bellaire, really, needs to be fired?" She raised an eyebrow. "What did she do to you? Insult your writing?" Annie had heard from a somewhat reliable source that that was a touchy subject for him. As for the librarian... "I'm assuming it's Leobald who needs a re-training, though it escapes me as to what he has also done to earn a place on your list."

Annie was more amused by this list than anything. Surely the History of Magic professor wasn't to be taken seriously? Except his second list... seemed serious enough.

"Explain." She said simply, stroking behind Gingersnapple's ears. "Security first. How would you improve it? What needs to be done? Why?"

Kaos.Doodles 12-22-2012 06:49 AM

O_o it wasn't suppose to be this long.

Oh really? With or without the presence of a woman? "Brilliant. Why don't you just mail me the list with pink paper and the works. then?

Actually, Bellaire didn't know anything about him. Other than his name and that he didn't like her. So her not liking his books? Uh. Dash just blinked as if he were confused. "Insult my writing? I never even knew that Bellaire could read. Good for her!" On a more serious note. "She didn't do anything. That's the point. Professors like her, that demand respect yet refuse to give it back. You can't expect anyone, let alone students to take someone like her seriously."

Dash gazed into his tea, as if expecting to see into his future! Only not, because he knew absolutely nothing about Divination. Perhaps if it had a tad of sugar? "A lot of things seem to escape you." It's what he noticed. That and the need for a bit of sugar in his tea. "Leobald's....reaction to what happened in the library this past term." Dash gazed up, staring directly at the Headmistress. His brows had come together and the man looked almost annoyed?

"His first instinct was to put out the books. Wrong. That instinct was much to late. He should have like everyone else, been looking out for the students. Making any and every student was out of harms way. Since the whole thing was his fault. As a librarian in an academy of learning that is centuries old, the first thing he should have done within stepping foot of the library was to fireproof each and every book." It was not an EASY task, especially with such a spell, since it was rather difficult. But it was what he man SHOULD have done. "Had he done that, no books would have been lost, and less children's lives would have been in danger." He knew for a fact that the books had, had charms placed on them years before for the simple matter that Dash himself had attempted to use one of the books for kindling. The only problem was that after a few years the spell wore off.

She wanted him to explain security? The History of Magic professor sighed. "Would you like a definition of the word?" No? Alright then, hopefully she was bright enough to know. "Hogwarts is....relatively speaking, safe. It is sound. The plant getting through was really just an outlier, because there would have been no problems had your brooch not gotten through. Anyways, no one can really break into it without someone knowing. Which is brilliant. The problem however isn't Hogwarts, it is the area around Hogwarts. Namely Hogsmeade. Much of Hogwarts history shows that any breech in Hogwarts security happens in Hogsmeade. It is why in 1993 when Dementors were assigned to the school they were also in Hogsmeade." The year before was far from the first time in which someone from Hogsmeade caused problems in the school, but he wasn't about the list every single time.

"We need to find a way to secure Hogsmeade in order to secure Hogwarts from any outsiders." Dash shrugged, that was really the simplest ways to put it. He already had an idea how to carry out the plan as well, but again, it was not the time to go into that.

BanaBatGirl 12-24-2012 06:06 AM

iREPLY <333333 sorry if it doesn't make senseeeee

Annie just wasn't even upset by that lame comeback, seeing as it was... well, LAME. She just gave Dash a sarcastic, 'really?' face that said he could clearly do better, and instead chose to comment on his comments.

"So she just insulted you in general. I see." The redhead did put this in her memory bank though, that Bellaire was perhaps rude and disrespectful of her colleagues. Not that she knew anyone like that, of course cougherselfexcludedcough.

She waited for his reply about Leobald and noticed Dash staring rather pensively into his teacup. "My tea is meant to be taken with a shot of firewhiskey, I should mention," she said with a soft chuckle, as though that were an inside joke. Well, it was, but only a different History of Magic Professor would get it. "Would you like some?" Look at how nice she was being to him. Just look at it. Wouldja lookit?

Anyway, Annie reached into her desk and pulled out a small flask of the fiery drink, then just wound up shrugging and setting it on the tray instead. Who knew, she herself might need a nip of that by the time Lafay's interview rolled around.

But back to Kitridge.... Dash had (in her opinion) over-analyzed the librarian's actions, but he did make a good case against the man. "So let me get this straight," she she held up her fingers to start ticking things off, "Leobald needs training, Sophia needs to be fired, and you need to be Deputy Headmaster so that you can make both of these things happen?"

Oh what a lovely place Hogwarts would be if Scabior were in charge... *SNORT* But wait, there was more.

"How are we to secure Hogsmeade, Dash?" she asked plainly, no trace of sarcasm or exasperation coloring her tone for once, just plain interest. "Do you have a plan? I realize it is an obvious problem area, as history has shown..." Which is what he had said, "but go on, I'd like to hear your course of action." Should he have one.

Kaos.Doodles 12-24-2012 05:26 PM

"She didn't insult me at all. She didn't do anything." Dash repeated patiently. It must have been something about the hair colour that made it so hard for Bunbury's to listen.

Taken with a shot of firewhiskey? He simply raised a brow. "It's not that horrible." Heh. The professor just shook his head however. It was far too early for firewhiskey. "Perhaps later." When they would be out celebrating his promotion.

"Exactly." He smirked. Finally! it seemed like the woman was getting something. "I'd be an asset. Help you deal with the little problems that clearly Mr. Quidditch Legend did not help you with at all." And Bellaire and Leo were the 'little problems'. "You need me." Obviously. "Otherwise you would not have called me to look after the Slytherin's this term, or with help finding out about the mysterious ghost."

Taking another sip of his tea Dash shrugged. "To be honest with you, doing anything at this point would be better than what has been done. Which is nothing. Having a meeting with all the shopkeepers, and perhaps getting them to place Sneakoscope's in all their shops would be an improvement." Once again he shrugged. "It's the little things, before we attempt to do anything big. Almost like trial an error." He thought it was simple and understandable enough, yet not everyone thought like Dash Scabior.

BanaBatGirl 12-28-2012 03:20 AM

"Then why does she need to be fired?" Bunburys might be deaf to what they did not want to hear, but Scabiors certainly were more stubborn than a box of rocks.

Not that horrible. WHATEVER. Annie knew her tea was just right. Even Gingersnapple liked it, and he only liked SPECIFIC THINGS. The redhead petted her cat quietly, calmly for a bit, and then replied to Dash.

"I do need you," she admitted, "but I don't necessarily want you. You need to convince me of why you deserve this position, Dash. What sets you apart from the other candidates, other than a certain.....attitude....unique to yourself?" She raised an eyebrow.

The redhead paused to give a bit of thought to the Hogsmeade suggestion. "I think a meeting is certainly in order, as well as perhaps a neighborhood watch of sorts. We'll have to see what the Board of Governors can do for the school's security." Annie smirked. "It certainly shouldn't be a task left solely to us, the staff, who are so very busy trying to drill our various academic disciplines into the heads of some thick students."

Would he agree? Annie waited for another Scabior-like comment.

Kaos.Doodles 12-28-2012 04:24 AM

Scabior turned, just so he could look around the room for any device that might possibly be small enough to clean out her ears. Not able to find anything of that sort he turned back around. "As I said befor. She does not give respect but demands it. Having someone like that on staff is like standing next to an unguarded criminal. You never know when they are going to be set off but sure enough they will be." Yup. Also, "And I don't like he too much either." He said the whole thing matter-o-factly. Because both were true. The woman was not an asset to staff at all.

Why did he deserve the position? Why?

Dash sighed. He had been hoping that he could keep her talking long enough so she wouldn't ask that question. It was perhaps the most important and yet only question he could not figure out an answer to. "We often don't want the things we need. But we still need them as they are still good for us." Like . for exam. Shots. Discipline as a child. The list could go on. "Listen-" Dash leaned foward, no longer slouching in the chair, his face completely serious. "-I can't go on for hours telling you what sets me apart because frankly I have no clue. I do however know two things. The first thing I know is that you know for a fact that I will be completely honest with you. If you have a bad idea in regards to the school I will let you know if its a bad idea. Same for if it's a good idea-though I bet that will be more rare. As for the second? Well the second thing I know is that the school can not continue on like this, because frankly it's not safe. You and I both graduated from this castle, and honestly I want to have my son go here as well. But the way it is as the moment, there is no chance in hell that's going to happen. And I want to fix that." Dash shrugged. That was really all he had to say. What made him different? What made him better? Not much really.

He was also smarter than the rest. But that was obvious enough.

Thick students? "Last time I checked the amount of drilling you do is very limited."

BanaBatGirl 12-28-2012 04:51 AM

"And as I am saying," Annie was smirking because Dash seemed just SO INTENT on getting rid of Bellaire, who at least dressed better than Elwood, and thus did not deserve to be fired just yet, "what interactions with her have led you to jump to this conclusion? Did she SAY or DO something that shows she is disrespectful of others? You have to have proof before you fire someone, Dash. There are rules in place, contracts to be abided by."

She shook her head and removed the cat from her lap, allowing him to stand on the desk between them. Of course Gingersnapple didn't want to stay there, so he did a flying over-the-head leap off the desk and beyond Dash's hair to sit by the door, as if cuing the end of the interview.

But wait, there was more. Annie leaned forward too, her interest actually held by this answer of Dash's. For once he sounded... authentic, not at all lazy, or disinterested, or sarcastic. He sounded genuine, and she could tell from his answer that he DID have a heart, a caring one at that!!!!

"You know, I have a son I'd like to have attend Hogwarts one day too," she said softly once he was finished. "And your reasons for wanting this job... for deserving it... seem genuine. So we'll have to see how my other interviews go. But I'll tell you," the redhead actually chuckled, "I think you are one of the most honest people at this castle, whether I want to hear your honest version of the truth or not." And even though she wouldn't directly tell Dash, he was more tolerable than some of the other candidates.

With that, the redhead stood and made for the door too. "Right, drilling... I'm only in charge of disciplining, suspending, and expelling the worst of them, am I not?" Alexa Cambridge, anyone? "But you knew what I meant. And now I mean it is time for your exit, Mr. Scabior. Your favorite person, Mr. Kitridge, is next." Ugh that sounded weird to say.

Kaos.Doodles 12-28-2012 05:05 AM

What interactions? Well the first and ONLY interaction he had, had with the woman. After that he had taken to ignoring her. But it wasn't the time to talk about that now, seeing as how his interview appeared to be over.

Honestly was something that EVERYONE could expect from Dash. He could only nodd along to that in agreement. What? It was true. "I would love to see you attempting to expel someone." The woman couldn't do it. She had nearly gotten a head full of greys because of a little ghost. Standing up, Dash set his cup on her desk. Her mess now. "I guess I will see you-" Leobald? "You wouldn't mind if I hang around here for a bit would you? No you wouldn't." There's a good girl. Dash smirked before plopping down on a seat off to the side. "Let's hear what he'd have to say about the retraining."

Nordic Witch 12-28-2012 08:03 AM

Leobald headed into the waiting area outside Headmistress Truebridge office well before the agreed upon time. He was oddly enough quite calm and collected. Normally he didn't like interviews of any sort but this one he only wanted to get started already and if he didn't get the job well then he had at least tried. Clad in dark red dress robes for the interview Leobald took a seat as he waited for whoever had been interviewed before him to come out, or for Headmistress Truebridge to come out and fetch him.

Time flew by and as the clock past his interview time by a good 10 minutes Leobald figured he had to check that everything was all right with the headmistress. Something could have happened and she could need his assistance or Cece's even.

Standing up he strolled over to the office door and knocked on it thrice. Hearing no 'come in' for a what felt like several minutes Leo pushed open the door and popped his dark mop-haired head inside calling "Is everyone all right in here?" His eyes drifted from the headmistress to Dash that was sitting to the side. "Good day.....Dash!" he nodded to the History of Magic man. "I hope I haven't interrupted your interview..." If he had then Leo would feel embarrassed.

BanaBatGirl 12-31-2012 03:16 AM

"No...." Annie started to say to Dash, meaning that no, she HAD already almost expelled someone, not that he would care, but.... then Leobald popped in. Oh my, now she couldn't scold Dash with the librarian here... and he was right on time for his interview too.

The redhead sent a warning glare toward the History of Magic professor and gestured for Leobald to sit in front of her desk. "Mr. Scabior just had... something to finish here. Your arrival is perfect timing, actually," she returned to her own desk and got her quill going once again. "Please, have a seat. Help yourself to some tea or coffee."

Gingersnapple didn't much like sitting near the door anymore. He wound his way through the furniture and came to sit on one of the chairs in front of Annie's desk, like he, too, was being interviewed.

The cat looked over his shoulder toward the door, like he was waiting for the curly-haired man to follow suit.

Kaos.Doodles 12-31-2012 04:10 AM

Speak of the Wizard! Leobald's head accompanied with his curls of doom popped into the office. "Leo, good day." Dash said with a polite nod and a small smirk. Eyes flickering to the Headmistress he nodded once more. Acknowledging the cue right away. "Right. Just finishing up." He would be through that door and on his way home in a mere matter of minutes?

"Quick question Leo, how would you feel about being retrained? Excuse me- that is being the only person on staff to be retrained?" Hmm? He just wanted to know if the man felt like he deserved it or if he thought it was an insane notion.

Leobald stepped into the office fully as Mrs Truebridge gestured for him to take a seat in front of her desk and help himself to some tea or coffee. Passing Dash he followed the headmistress’s cat over to the chairs. He at first glance hadn't seen him there. Taking a seat in front of the desk in the empty chair not occupied by the cat, Leo poured himself a cup of steaming hot tea. He was about to taste the tea when he heard Dash’s question.

Carefully setting the tea cup down on the desk Leo turned to Dash with a blank look. "Retrained? Retrained how and what for?" Getting a clear feeling where the question bottomed in Leo decided to face it rather than evade the subject. He responded calmly with a clear voice no hesitation or nerves visible as he let his eyes drift between the Headmistress and his colleague. "I assume you didn't agree with the way I handled the fire when it broke out in the library at the end of last term."

"I acted as quickly as possible together with yourself, Headmistress Truebridge and a few other staff members to put the fire out, after Professor Cerulean had herded the student’s out of harm’s way and to the Great Hall. We managed to take the fire out before it spread to the other library areas which as you know took some effort."

"In hindsight I should have fire-proofed every book, shelf and case and then the fire would have had no fuel to feed of. An error in judgment which I take full responsibility for and will work tirelessly to amend until every book, shelf and case in the library is fire-proofed." Leobald ended his little speech. He leaned forward and stroked the cat behind the ears for a moment before he busied himself with his tea.

BanaBatGirl 12-31-2012 07:35 PM

Annie was struck by how alike she and Dash were the instant the man addressed Leobald. She had to fight back a snort as she poured herself a fresh cup of tea and settled back into her seat. She was just going to sit back here and watch and listen to the two, even though it seemed there wouldn't be much to listen to. Leo obviously knew he'd made a few mistakes with the library fire, and the redhead gave him an encouraging nod as he responded to Dash.

"I'm sure we all could have handled the library... situation better. But hindsight is 20/20..." the redhead smiled gently, though her eyes did flick to Dash at the same time. There was a certain naughty sparkle there, as though she were waiting for him to go on.

Gingersnapple, meanwhile, started purring and bumping the librarian's hand. MOAR PETS, PLEEZ. Never mind if his nudges caused the man to spill a bit of his tea; HE WANTED ATTENSHUNS.

Kaos.Doodles 01-01-2013 12:57 AM

Was Leobald perhaps a seer? A master in Legilimency? Most likely not since his mind was protected but the man really could have fooled him. Dash listened carefully, not interrupting the Librarian at all, and only choosing to response to the very last thing Leo said."Every book." He nodded. "Except for the ones, rare or common, that have already been destroyed thanks to you."

Clearly his throat Dash nodded. He was done. He was. But before he left his eyes flickered back to the Headmistress. "Note how he still hasn't answered the question." Just saying. The question had been asked, and yet, no answer, just a tirade of the events that had taken place. "I'll see you both some other time." He nodded at each of them, before leaving the office.

It warmed Leo's heart a little to hear that Headmistress Truebridge didn’t place all the blame for how they had handled the fire on just him. He had acknowledged his mistakes and promised to amend his short comings. Wasn’t that enough? There were no grounds for a retraining then, were there? Sipping on his tea Leo waited for Dash to throw him another curve ball, but none came. His colleague just pointed out that he hadn’t answered his question entirely before leaving abruptly. "Bye Dash." Leo called after him.

Settling into a comfy position in his chair, Leo stroked Gingersnapple behind the ears as he said to Annie sincerely from his heart. "I love the library and working with books and most of all helping the students with their studies and everyday problems.

"If you feel that it's necessary then I won't object to being retrained. I just want to do what's best for the students and what would benefit them the most." His heart still ached for the books that had been destroyed even if Dash didn’t think so. Nothing in Leo's opinion was so heart-wrenching and sad as to walk into the reference section and seeing all the gaping shelves and burn marks.

BanaBatGirl 01-03-2013 05:30 AM

Annie had noticed. She also noticed that Dash seemed to be holding back some unspoken bit of anger... anger at Leobald? Herself? The cat? She had no idea, but she did return his nod.

Once the door had closed, Anastasia avoided eye contact with Leo and instead read back on her notes. "I think...perhaps what is best for all the students could also be best for all the staff. A crisis in-service might be what we need." She paused and considered calling the DMLE for help for the briefest of seconds. That idea was quickly dismissed, however, once she remembered who was in charge of that horrid department.

"I'll look into planning one of those for us... and if it goes fine, then one for the students as well." Perhaps there was some sort of outside service she could contact? She knew Muggles had self-defense courses sometimes offered at their schools and saw no reason why Hogwarts couldn't have a similar seminar.

But back to the interview. "Let's talk about why you're really here, hmm?" Annie cut to the chase with a firm, mirthless smile. "Tell me why you want this job, Leobald."

Droo 01-03-2013 06:07 PM

A black hooded figure came to the Gargoyle entrance. It began untying its robes at the neck, and then, let the hood fall on its shoulders.

Hecate Lafay stood by the Gargoyle statue, admiring the intricacies of the stonework and removing her robes. She was early. Well, she was always early for appointments. Her long dark hair had a streak of gray cascading on the right side of her part. It was a side effect of the potion she'd received from the shaman in Africa. She'd tried potions and glamour charms to tint it the correct color, but nothing seemed to keep for more than an hour.

It wasn't the only thing that was altered on the woman. Her left eye (the right, if you were doing the looking) had lost it's color. It was now gray too. It was as if a fog was trapped in her retina. It wasn't hindering in any way, she could still see, but it was as if someone tossed a thin netting over that side of her, and everything seemed more opaque.

Oddly enough, Alexander found the gray attractive... that man was so odd... so she decided to stop looking for a way to hide these new flaws, and embraced them as her own.

The Potion Mistress conjured up a dark green wing back chair... she wasn't going to sit on the bench children sat on when in trouble and stuck their gum all over it. *shudders*

She folded her robes over the top of the chair, and sat down, crossing her legs. Her shoes were Christian Louboutin, and although she was wasn't someone for high fashion, she had fallen in love with the muggle red bottom black pump. This was the perfect day to wear them, no?

Suddely she felt the familiar fur of her kneazle Mephisto on her ankle. The stupid creature had followed her from her quarters. As it jumped on her lap Hecate quickly, though gently, pushed him back down. "I don't want fur all over me right now... get out." But the kneazle didn't seem to want to leave and cuddled up at her feet. "Go back to the dungeons, Mephisto." She said again, but the creature just purred contentedly.

Nordic Witch 01-03-2013 06:37 PM

We hope this makes sense..

It was a big relief that Dash had left the room since Leo had never really gotten a good grip on the man’s character. Dash was just hard to read and could be mean at times. Lifting his teacup again he sipped on it some more as Annie proposed a staff crisis in-service course if he got her drift correctly. "A crisis in-service course could definitely be what we need. I know I’d benefit from knowing how to act in a crisis. I guess it’s the ministry that arranges such courses?" Not that Leo was very knowledgeable about departments and such. He had read about muggle crisis courses but he had never seen any in practice.

In a few seconds they went from crisis course to the REAL thing. The reason he was sitting in Annie’s office and drinking tea in the first place. Leo took his time to gather his thoughts. Placing his hands in his lap he looked up and met Annie’s gaze steadily. "I want this job because I want to contribute, and do my part in ensuring that the students get the best education they can get both in the classrooms and outside it since Hogwarts is their home away from home."

He paused for a moment to drink some more tea. "Having my own childhood experiences with being bullied for my hair and my fear of going bald within these walls I know how important it is to have adults you can talk to and to feel safe amongst your peers. And that boils down to bridging the gap between the houses and creating more unity."

"We could manage that by more fun activities that will let the students bond over house lines like a school pentathlon. And we as adults can be more available to them by say being more active around the castle and grounds and even having office hours just for dropping in. I know I wouldn't have bothered my head of house in my youth if he hadn't had such hours since i thought my problems weren't of interest to him." Leo finished off feeling emotionally drained.

BanaBatGirl 01-03-2013 07:32 PM

makes perfect sense!

Sometimes Anastasia paid attention to the little sensors and knicknacks previous Headmasters had left behind in her office. Usually, she liked to know when the one that signaled someone was in her waiting area went off. Now, however, she knew who was waiting for her at the bottom of the stone gargoyles, and so she paid the vibrating buzzer under her desk no attention, none at all.

She was still in the middle of an interview, fortunately or unfortunately, depending on Leobald's answers.

"The Ministry has little impact on what goes on in my school, Mr. Kitridge," the Headmistress informed the librarian with a snooty little sweep of her head. He had the gall to think the Ministry would arrange staff in-services... were THEY in charge of Hogwarts? She thought not!! Perhaps a re-training WAS necessary for this soft, curly-haired man-boy! Hmmph!

He did have a few good thoughts for the school, though they weren't also anything particularly shocking or novel. Annie nodded once he was finished speaking and fought the urge to ask him why he had been bullied for his hair. Was shiny, healthy hair looked down upon while he was in school, or was he wearing a toupee at the moment? Perhaps it had something to do with his name, LeoBALD....heh....

"I see," she said instead, "and you do have any other...... ideas for Hogwarts? What would you say is the most important thing we should focus on improving for the coming school year?"

Somewhere in the office something buzzed but Leo paid it just a fleeting thought as Annie reminded him that the ministry had no impact on the running of the school. Feeling his lips dry up Leo took another sip of tea as he defended his previous comment. "I know that the ministry has little or no impact on the running of this school which I’m glad for headmistress. I just meant that they employ people that could hold the crisis course like aurors." Jeez. She didn’t need to bite his head off. Leo was well aware that the BoG ran the school along with the headmistress NOT the ministry.

Ideas…

"Other ideas could be to integrate the school subjects and hold more joint classes. I've heard that those have been popular amongst the students when they've been given. To offer career advice to the higher years so they know what subjects to continue taking for newt studies." He said slowly.

"I think the most important thing to focus on this upcoming school year is the school pride and the relationship between the houses which at times have left more to wish for. We could improve on that by starting for example an inter house mentoring program where students gets to meet and spend time with students from other houses and do activities together like the pentathlon I mentioned before. And we should especially encourage first years to sign up since coming to a new place can be scary…" He trailed off. There were just too many ideas bubbling around in Leo’s head.

Uh huh. Sure. "Well," Anastasia pursed her lips some, realizing that perhaps she had spoken too harshly although since she was never wrong, she could hardly have done that. "I see your line of thinking. However, I hardly think the current head of the Law Enforcement Department would be a suitable choice for seminar instructor."

She scoffed. Secretly, though, she would look into it. As much as she despised Wesley... he might know a thing or two more about defense and crisis and the like. Stupid man.

Anyway, back to the real reason Leo was here. "Joint classes, career advice... those are some sound suggestions," the redhead nodded. Interesting that he also mentioned a need for inter-house unity. Hmm. The pentathalon idea though --- Annie wasn't so sure she could get behind that. It sounded like something athletic, and she just did not approve of teenagers sweating all over Hogwarts' halls.

"I'll consider those ideas, thank you. Is there anything else you'd like to add? Any changes you would make as Deputy Headmaster?" Some of the other candidates had had a real plan of action, you know...

Annie seemed to know what she was talking about in relation to who was suitable as a seminar instructor of a crisis course. Leo wasn’t going to argue or point out that the MLE head could send one or two of his employees to do the job he wouldn’t necessarily come himself. And why would he? He was probably a very busy man. Not that Leo knew or had ever met the man in question.

"My first plan of action if I was appointed deputy headmaster would be to look over the security of the school and see in what areas we can make improvements together with the caretaker, since he knows the school better than anyone. After last year we have to become more vigilant and wary of what we allow to come into the school and how we act in a crisis situation. We need a safe and secure school to be able to focus our attention on academics and on fostering our student’s." Leo finished. He felt like he had gotten to say and share all his ideas which had been brewing since he started working for the school now almost 3 years ago.

Oh, so now he was on to security, was he? Interesting. Interesting how he thought the caretaker would know a thing or two as well.

"Have you ever met the caretaker, Mr. Kitridge?" Anastasia said as she rose from her chair. She headed toward the door. "He is... not the first person I would think of when it came to securing the castle and the grounds." No, she would think of consulting the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. Never the librarian or the crazy caretaker.

It was apparent to her, anyway, that this interview was over. "Thank you for your time, Leobald. Please send up Professor Lafay on your way out." Anastasia opened the door for him.

Gingersnapple also sensed that the curly-haired man would be leaving soon, so he jumped from his chair to the man's lap for some last-minute pets.
