The prefect lounge has been significantly revamped since the Battle of Hogwarts years ago, and we would like prefects to start using it again. Here, you can find a cluster of comfortable couches. Relax after a long day working and kick back with your fellows.

And because no lounge would be complete without a fireplace, enjoy the well-tended fire provided by the house elves.

She grabbed her head, pulling at the roots of her hair again, "I'm so so so sorry, Paulie.." she still was not going to cry, well not in front of him. "I don't even know why I did that... I didn't mean to ruin anything for you, I just.." More pull and this time she brought her hands over her face to hide it. "I always ruin things. You already know this. I make sure that everything goes as good as possible but it's like a bad chip planted in my brain to just... shut off everything and set an alarm or something! Only it's an alarm to mess something instead of the other way round." There, she was rambling now.

She threw herself back against the couch and stared up at the ceiling. "What do you want me to do?" And yes... she needed to go crawl into a hole after this. So much for a happy birthday week.

A cushion suddenly collided with his head, and it took Paulie a second before he realized what hit him. Literally, hit him. A cushion to the head actually helped just a little, believe it or not. It was something physical, and he needed that to counteract with all his mental and emotional chaos. He looked over to see Louisa, clearly upset about his calling her 'another girl.' He wanted to shoot back at her that she was another girl. That every girl was 'another girl' when being compared to Tori. But just as the words were ready to leave the tip of his tongue, he caught himself. Louisa would take it differently than how he meant it. And really, he was so close with Louisa now that the term 'another girl' sounded harsh and wrong when she put it like that. "You know what I mean!"

He shook his head. "Will ya quit sayin' that it's your fault? Last time I checked, ya need two people in order to have a proper kiss." But then she called him a 'coward,' and his head snapped her way. A coward? There were a lot of things that Paulie was, but THAT was not one of them. He stared at her determinedly. "Finish your sentence."

When he had calmed down, it seemed as though he transferred this to Louisa as well. And then she began apologizing. And blaming herself. And bashing herself. "It's your defense mechanism." He stared through the fire, looking that way, but not really seeing the flames. Instead he was seeing ways how Tori was going to break up with him. Ways that Adam was going to finally let him know that he was over Paulie and his antics. Only minutes ago he and Louisa were laughing and goofing off, and now look. How quickly things could change.

She asked what he wanted her to do, and he shook his head again, just slightly. "Nothin'.."

She did know that he didn't mean an offense but it still stung. The fact that he shuffled away from her, though, impressed her in a way. He was so loyal.. not only to his best mate but to his girlfriend who'd been away for two terms and Paulie didn't even think about doubting their relationship or bring it to a halt. Louisa might've doubted his 'perfect loyalty' if it wasn't for today.

Finish her sentence? She let out an exaggerated sigh, "I didn't mean to say that, okay? You're just scaring me with the freaking out! It wasn't.." she paused again, her cheeks went a deep shade of red and she was suddenly self-conscious, her fingertips automatically went up to her mouth touching what was left of that intense moment.... Louisa quickly moved her hand further to move some of her hair away from her face.

Paulie kept his eyes on Louisa; he was examining her facial expressions and tone to see if she was telling the truth. And, he judged, that she was telling the truth about not meaning to say that 'coward' thing. Which was good, because that would have bothered him, too. She then trailed off and he noticed her cheeks rouge as her fingers brushed over her mouth. Well, he looked away from her lips because his own flush crawled up his neck and somehow burned his ears when he remembered that he was kissing hers just a minute or two ago.

His head was in his hands when she moved past him to the door, and he only realized her change of location when she spoke again. Hate her? His hands dropped to his lap and he turned his head to see her across the room. Any other time he probably would have given her a hug or slung an arm around her to show her that that idea was ridiculous, but considering that they just swapped saliva, he did neither to refrain from giving in to any wacky teenage hormones again. The Gryffindor shook his head and looked back to the fire, his back sinking into the couch yet again. "No, Helen, I don't hate ya." But the flames reflected in his eyes as he thought, 'I just kinda hate myself..'

'You should' was the answer Louisa had ready if he said he didn't hate her, which was what he actually replied with. But calling her Helen as if nothing had changed between them, as if she didn't just ruin the relationship he managed to keep strong for two years despite the distance, or his friendship with Adam that probably was very deeply brotherly. Calling her Helen, THAT was what made her whimper, fumble with the doorknob and quickly slip out of the room. She was NOT going to cry, it was pathetic, and weak. She should be fine by the time she reached the girls' bathroom...

... maybe.

So.

Dora entered and walked around slowly, taking it all in like she'd not been in the bathroom every term since her third year. Hm. Yes. Right. It looked nice. Couches and a tub and stuff. Riiiight.

So now what though?

Dora had never been in here ALONE... it was kind of nice. Like, she never even got the dorms this empty. Not even during the day time. This was possibly a perk she could get used to, even though she didn't really consider it much of one.

The sixth year moved over to the couches and flopped down. Her jarvey got let out of her pocket since HE'D never been in here to explore, and she pulled out a book. Lots of reading to do.

The boy had heard a lot about this place and a lot of them were... really great! Maybe the bathroom had a reputation and... well... he was here to explore! It would be a shame to leave this place without having a look around first, yeah? Plus, with the looming NEWTs, he was sure that taking a long relaxing dip in the bath tub was going to be scarce.

So, clutching onto his towel and swimming trunks, Alec headed into the bathroom and took a look around. ... WHOA. This was... YEAH! He moved further into the room and looked around, his eyes widening as he did so. Now the boy understood why this place upholded such a big reputation. And it was empty? Awesome. Then... he could just go and change into--

... OH DORA. Reading. Were they close enough for him to go up and disturb her without her getting mad? ... He was going to do it anyways. "Hey Dora!" he called, sitting down next to her, "I... is he or she yours?" Nods for the large ferret. Unless it was a Jarvey.

... And... he was just going to hide the trunks beneath the towel. There. Awesome. Dora didn't need to see those.

Because it was a jarvey, if it was a large ferret that liked throwing insults. He knew that. He also knew that it was a good idea to be polite so the boy gave the animal a small smile and a nod. ... Pause. "Does he insult everyone?"

Oblivious Alec was oblivious and silently thanking the prefect gods that Dora hadn't seen the trunks. "I was planning on it, yeah. People... have said that the bathroom's great for a swim so I thought I'd see if they're right." Shrug. "What... were you up to?" Creepy question? Was it? Was he a creeper?

... Nah.

A wide grin spread across her face in both amusement at Alec and pride in her creature. "He's mine. His name is Biter." For all of the reasons. Thankfully he wasn't trying to bite Alec at the moment though, just insults. Those were okay, and inevitable. She nodded her head. "Yes, but never the same ones. And some are more fonder than others if he likes the person."

Alec glanced over at the book quickly before shrugging his shoulders. "Apart from the nerves, it does feel nice having a badge. I think... we have to be careful that no one tries to steal them." The boy wasn't sure if this was a joke or not. If it was, it was probably a very very lame one.

Not because of the gifting, but the biting. They both did a lot of that. "Yes, like he won't insult me the way he insults others. Because he's mine and all. But also he's grown kind of fond of others who sometimes watch him, so the insults aren't as bad on them as strangers." But they were still very entertaining, especially the ones that stuck.

If possible, Dora was grinning even more, now more mischievous than before and a bit of brow raising accompanied it. "Stuff." Yeah. Stuff. He knew.... stuff. "No nerves on my part." She wrinkled her nose. "It's alright having a badge. I'm still not fond of being responsible for anyone." Her smile faultered just a bit, becoming more thoughtful as she reached up and thumbed his badge. "Stealing badges is easy."

Sure, he hardly knew much about Dora but this... was something he didn't expect. Rats, you know. He looked from Dora, then to the packet of frozen rats and then back up again. Moving on? Awesome idea. "That's really nice of her. And I'm not surprised that she managed to find one that likes to bite," Human Biter and Jarvey Biter. Coincidence? "He must really like you, then." He grinned over at Dora before looking down at the Jarvey again. "What's... the worst insult he's given?"

And she was tossing it too. He gave her a nervous smile before watching the motion of the rat and the jarvey carefully. Maybe it was just... weird for the boy to see something like this when the meat for his animals usually came cut up and ready to serve. But Dora was speaking so... he turned to look at her again and let out a small chuckle. "Maybe it's... both? Is he a hungry fellow?" ... Pause. "My owl only badgers me for my food." Badgers. Heh.

The worst insult. Written in the air. Alec's eyes bulged out and he clapped a hand over his mouth. "I... that's really mean!" Laughing would probably be mean, too, Summers.

The brow raising was returned with some brow raising on his part too. "You're a smart girl, you know." And a little bit on the mysterious side. Not that Alec minded but... observations. "No?" And more no, this time on the looking up to people with a badge part. "Well... what makes you say that?" Because this boy right here had definitely looked up to people with a badge: Treyen, Keefer, you name it. And now he had one too. "Oh... I bet he didn't mind you doing that. I mean... it was for support, right?" And not, you know, because the girl liked to take things. Shiny things.

The worst insult. Written in the air. Alec's eyes bulged out and he clapped a hand over his mouth. "I... that's really mean!" Laughing would probably be mean, too, Summers.

The brow raising was returned with some brow raising on his part too. "You're a smart girl, you know." And a little bit on the mysterious side. Not that Alec minded but... observations. "No?" And more no, this time on the looking up to people with a badge part. "Well... what makes you say that?" Because this boy right here had definitely looked up to people with a badge: Treyen, Keefer, you name it. And now he had one too. "Oh... I bet he didn't mind you doing that. I mean... it was for support, right?" And not, you know, because the girl liked to take things. Shiny things.

With her jarvey otherwise occupied with eating and not calling Alec all sorts of names, Dora was able to give him all her attention and not worry about him being a bother to the older boy. "He can be. Mostly he does his own hunting as he prefers live prey." It was always a chore getting fresh rats for him but Dora managed. Dora grinned amused. "He badgers you? Sounds like the perfect owl for a Hufflepuff."

She grinned even MORE at his reaction to the insult before swiping it away. Priceless really. "He can be extremely rude when he wants." She was only completely proud of him, and it showed.

"I know." She did. It was not a big thing, except it was? Whatever. She shrugged. "I didn't have much choice in the matter. Accepting this." Ultimatums were NOT her thing, but when her Grandmother presented her with one well... she couldn't not accept. For reasons. "Because I didn't look up to any badged people. Still don't. Though I do like them as friends and all." Like Alec. He was her friend. Many people who held badges now were her friends in fact. "No... he didn't mind. Support and all." Yeah.

The great thing about the rat being introduced to the jarvey was that the insults had stopped. "Since he's good at biting... I'm not surprised, you know." Wait... what did this say about Hulk? Would she survive in the wild? ... Of course. Looking back up at Dora, the boy grinned. "Badgers." Nodnod. "He also eats a lot... but... I'm not sure if that counts as being a Hufflepuff."

The urge to laugh was overwhelming, which was the reason why it took the Head Boy a while before he could reply again. "I can imagine him being... a lot more rude to the people who insult you." With those words. Alec wanted to laugh again.

She knew. "That's good." What was it like to be confident in yourself? Alec didn't know. "I... hope you weren't forced to accept it." He hadn't but he did have to endure his Dad stepping in and insisting on proudly pinning the badge to his chest. Embarrassing in the middle of King's Cross. "It... must help that some are your friends," he said, smiling at her, "It's weird, people think you're instantly... cool if you have one of these." Looks for his badge. ... Support. "That's really nice of you, you know."

Theo really did not spend enough time here, and this term he knew he had to make the most of the luxury, since it was his LAST TERM EVER. He wasn't one to worry about the future and stuff, but it was kinda starting to hit him slowly since he had nothing planned for after graduation.

He'd be on his own, at home.

GULP.

Mulling this over in his head, Theo lounged in the coach and appreciated the calm and quiet, until his eyes became a bit heavy. Yeaaaaaah, let's rest our eyes. And think. Rest and think.

She couldn't find him. That damn jarvey of hers. She had checked all of his favorite spots; the gardens, the forbidden forest, dungeons, all of the bathrooms, her common room, had even got a first year to check the gryffie common room to no avail. The creature was simply no place to be found.

The last place she could think to check was the prefect's bathroom, and since she was perfectly capable of checking there herself she did. Only it wasn't Biter she found, it was Theo. Her eyes flickered around the room for any other signs of life, and when she spotted none, she quietly moved further into the bathroom until she was beside the couch.

Deciding against words, she joined him on the couch, folding her legs under her and leaning her head back to watch him. Waiting for him to become aware of her presence.

His eyes had been completely closed for about 30 seconds when he felt a new butt joining the other end of the couch. Theo snorted and jumped up into a sitting position, eager to make out he was wide awake the whole time. After letting his frightened heart settle a bit, he looked over wide-eyed at the new butt.

Oh, gosh, yes, hello.

Hi. Theodore ran a hand through his hair, mostly to fix it after lying down, but also to look cool. "Jeez, you scared me." And if it were anyone else, then they'd be getting attitude for sure.

Dora looked amused at his reaction, definitely not disappointed. "That wasn't my intention." She just didn't get to really look at him without it bothering him in obvious ways. Not that she could openly stare at any of her friends without it bothering them in some sort of way, but Theo was one that she hardly ever got to appreciate ever since they broke up.

"Haven't seen you around much." More so than before, her own fault since she had been spending most of the school year in her dorms or in the classes she actually did attend, which weren't too many. She shifted up straighter, eyes still fixed on him. "How've you been?"

Theo raised his eyebrows and grinned, "Sure it wasn't." He wasn't buying that. The amount of people that sneaked up behind him at Hogwarts was ridiculous. You'd also think he'd have gotten used to it by now but he hadn't.

"Nah." He stretched upwards but managed to keep his muscular arms away from Dora. Didn't want any awkward, accidental touching going on. "I've been sorta hibernating a little." He wasn't overly sure why, but he supposed he wasn't feeling very enthusiastic about the term. "But I mean, I'm fine, I'm good."

"Miss me or something?" Full teeth beaming going on right now.

Dora grinned amused. It hadn't been, and it couldn't be faulted against her for being naturally quiet. "You should stop being so easy to be snuck up on." Since it was rather easy with him not paying attention to his surroundings.

"Is that what quidditch players do when they're bored? Hibernate?" She was going to take it that he just was bored beyond belief without his favorite sport to pass the time and so never felt the need to leave his common room. A valid excuse.

She smirked, tilting her head to the side slightly. "Maybe." Shrug. She'd been missing a lot of people, so what was one more? "Miss spending time with you. Glad to hear you're doing good."

"You can never trust a witch or wizard with wands, you know." And yes, Theodore had the constant attitude that whoever tried to scare him was probably a killer after his brains.

He snorted a little. "Not sure I can really be called a Quidditch player anymore." He hadn't played it for months, and was pretty sure that he was getting out of shape in result of this. He probably wasn't, but was definitely looking forward to a proper work out when he got home "But yeah, oh well. How are you?" Theo shifted his position to get more comfy.

"You can never trust anyone or anything that's not a friend." Dora amended, which she liked to think she was. A friend of some sorts at least, even if they hadn't been around each other much.

Another shrug rolled off her shoulders and she smiled. "Of course you can. Just because you're not playing doesn't mean you've stopped being one." She always hated that people assumed just because they stopped doing something meant they stopped being that. It was a ridiculous thought in her opinion.

"I'm fine." Always fine, except when she couldn't be that. "We should remedy this. Spend more time together." Pauuuuse. "After graduation. What are your plans after?"

Ehhhh, her reply made him feel a bit better, but he still didn't think that way. He mimicked her shrug, "Dunno. Still haven't decided whether to try out anywhere after graduation." Or focus on a proper career and stuff. Quidditch was a proper career, of course, but Theo totally didn't think himself good enough.

"Definitley." He held out his hand, "Let's shake on that." Because it was easy enough to say it, much harder to stick to it. Oh, here goes the good old graduation plans chat. Theo hated that. He sighed a little and scratched the back of his head. "Still dunno." Pretty much like his Quidditch ideas... zilch. "Was thinking of having a go at the Daily Prophet again, 'cause that was cool." Kinda.

Unless he rocked his NEWT exams, things were looking bleak. "What're you thinking?"
