He chuckled and shook his head. "Nah, that's ok, but thanks," he said with a soft smile. He sighed and ran a hand over his short hair, vaguely missing the curls again. "Should I grow my hair longer again?" he asked, randomly changing the subject with a broad grin. He had finally reached the point in his friendship with this serial flirt where he could joke about things like...hair. Nice. | Quote:

Then she had an idea. Quickly wiping away the evil smirk that had suddenly appeared, she looked at him again, "Why don't you ask Anna?" she asked, "I'm sure her opinion matters more than mine." | Quote:

Well, not in those words, but that was the general attitude behind it.
"It was really long last year," he chuckled. "I got kind of bored and chopped it off, though," he added. | Quote:

Whatever. Looks like he forgot to tell Evolette that HE also told ANNA how perfect SHE was, too. Ugh. Anna had a good mind to walk right over there and tell him what a stupid, egomaniacal hypocrite he was, but she'd refrain...for now. He did need a slight correction, though.
Anna cleared her throat and walked up to Evolette and Cale's table. "Actually," she started, "I'm not too much of a fan of your new haircut. It's too short, and I miss the longer curls. Or even the longer, straight hairdo. I wasn't lying when I said I liked it, but I don't like it as much as the longer hair-do. I'm going to have to agree with Evolette and say that you should grow it back out."
When Anna was done with her little mini-speech, she looked back and forth between Cale and Evolette with a smile. "So, what's up?" she asked.
That was when Anna heard the voice of her Mom calling her name throughout the store. "Ugh," Anna said. "I'll see you two later. I better go see what she wants." | Quote:

"Oh, hi Anna," he said with a smile. His cheeks didn't heat up, which was definitely a good thing, otherwise his girlfriend might think something was going on that definitely wasn't. "You like my hair longer? Yeah, I kind of miss it," he said with a sigh, grabbing at the short strands of hair near the top of his forehead.
And, as soon as she had appeared, she was leaving. "Oh, erm, bye! See you later!" he called after her. He looked back at Evolette and blinked, almost as if he had no idea what had just happened. | Quote:

Anna glanced nervously at Evolette, hoping that she wouldn't get upset that Anna had just shown up. Anna wanted to tell Cale that she had gone through with her promise to be nice to Evolette, but she'd have to wait until they were alone. She'd spoken to Evolette in the streets and even asked her to sit down on the bench with her and hang out for a little bit. Evolette had seemed WAY less than thrilled to do that, though. As a matter of fact, she'd point blank refused and then walked off. Hmm, maybe Evolette just didn't like to hang out with too many people.
"So," Anna continued. "The Hogwarts Express comes in the morning. Ready for a new school year?" | Quote:

If she was going to stalk her boyfriend, she might as well do it right.
She snorted a laugh when Anna walked away, shaking her head, "Okay. I'm not one to lie, so seriously, your girlfriend is a little scary, the way she just pops out of nowhere." she whispered just before Anna doubled back.
What was going on here? Was this girl like permanently attached to her or something? Why wouldn't she just go away? | Quote:

He REALLY didn't want to witness another girl fight--Anna had been getting to a few of those lately. First Ezra, who totally deserved it, and now Evolette? This was not good, not good at all. | Quote:

Her mother was going to kill her as soon as she got home...
"Excuse me," Anna snapped. "What makes you think I popped out of nowhere just to join you in conversation? I had no idea the two of you were even in here. This is my mother's shop, in case you failed to notice. It's not uncommon for me to be here at all, Evolette," Anna continued, stressing the end of the snotty girl's name. "You know, I tried to be friends with you. Apparently, your not interested in that sort-of-thing, though."
Anna noticed the look Cale was giving Evolette. He had to be annoyed with all the fighting that was going on. Anna was even annoyed herself. Everything was going fine until Evo-frazzling-lette decided to step in. "I'm sorry, Cale," Anna said. "I tried to be nice to her earlier. I tried to invite her to share a bench with me and hang out, but she refused. I apologize if it appareared that I was being scary or whatever she just called me, but in reality, I was honestly coming to see my mother," Anna explained. | Quote:

And so what if Evolette didn't want to be Anna's friend? She was sure that Anna had friends that Cale didn't like, Nico for instance. Why couldn't she just go away?
"We don't need to be friends dear, so you can stop trying to be nice to me." she added, hoping that would mean the girl would just leave her alone. | Quote:

This was not how this was supposed to go, not at all. They were supposed to try and get along, for his sake, just try to get along. And that obviously wasn't working out very well.
"Alright, ENOUGH," he snapped, standing out of his chair and glaring at the two of them. "You're both acting totally immature. Yeah, both of you," he added, as if he hadn't made that clear the first time he said it.
"First off, Anna, if Evolette isn't nice to you don't stoop to her level and make a scene in the middle of your mother's shop," Cale said, turning on his girlfriend and crossing his arms. "I appreciate that you're trying to make an effort but don't you realize you might have just ruined all that by yelling at her?" he asked, wrinkling his dark eyebrows.
"And you," he continued, turning to face Evolette. "After all the fighting that's gone on the past few days, can't you at least attempt to be friends with her? Maybe you'd like Anna a lot more than you thought if you just gave her a chance and stopped accusing her of stalking me," he explained. "Just humouring her would probably be better than being rude," he finished, glaring at her with his hazel eyes.
He turned back to the both of them and put his hands on his hips rather dramatically. "Now, both of you, apologize. You're not leaving here until you do," he threatened, crossing his arms again in a very just-try-and-get-out-of-this-one kind of way. | Quote:

From my own daughter and her boyfriend at that!"
On that last note, Bella rolled up The Daily Prophet and proceeded to swat Anna over the head several times. When she was done with Anna, she moved on to swatting Cale a few times. "In my SHOP! My SHOP! I've never seen such from such a nice, well-mannered young man!" Bella exclaimed.
"And you! Whoever you are, young lady!" Bella said, reaching up to swat the other girl on the head. As the newspaper came down on Evolette's head, Bella backed away, scowl still on her face. "And THAT is for disrupting my shop, Miss Greingoth!" | Quote:

Anna Greingoth needed her mommy to fight her battles. How pathetic.
"Right then." she said, standing up after the quite odd woman had walked away, she dusted off her hands, as if freeing herself from the two. "You two drama queens can stay here and hash out on your problems, but I for one, have nothing to apologize for. I have done absolutely nothing wrong."
She pushed past Cale, glaring at him in a defiant way, what was he going to do? Throw her over his shoulder and sit on her until she apologized? No, he didn't have the guts. "Good luck with your crazy girlfriend problems Cale, and your visions of superiority Anna, but maybe next time you should leave your Mommy at home." With that, she exited the shop, a sly smirk on her face. | Quote:

"Drama queen?" Cale asked, his mouth dropping open. Ok, so that one wasn't new, he heard that almost daily from Ezra and he knew a few of his classmates called him that as well, but Evolette? Pssh. What a hypocrite. She practically started drama just to get into arguments and make herself feel better.
"You're one to talk!" he snapped as she started walking out of the shop. "And good luck deflating that incredibly large head of yours." he added as she opened the door to walk out.
As she started leaving, he suddenly remembered his empty threat to not let them leave until this was settled. "Oi! Where are you going?" he called. "Come back here! I said no leaving!" he cried, but it was too late as the door slammed shut behind her.
Groaning heavily, Cale collapsed in his chair and put his face to the table. Drama was pointless, stupid, and just seemed to follow him everywhere these days. | |
